It's hot, and I had to haul in all the dang groceries for our family by myself! Taking some me time while I am on hold with Orbitz for a screwed up reservation. Then I'm off to water the tomatoes. Might just do the sprinkler thing myself or at least try and grab some sun to brown up my shoulders.
Okay our cheap O county has decided that it's much cheaper to do fireworks on the weekend after the fourth of July. They have been doing this for about 10 years and it's a big deal. Probably the biggest deal of year. So tomorrow I'm off to sit in the sun and watch fireworks:) Ya all are welcome to join in the fun. 9:00 Hwy 20 to Paulding County.

PauldingMom, I like that idea, I wish I could convince our kids to have Christmas after the holiday to catch all the sales-but I'm cheap like that!! The fireworks do sound like fun though, enjoy!

Hi Ladies,
Sorry it's been awhile since I checked in - my heart wasn't in it - I lost a friend to BC last week. A lovely person, I only met her nine months ago at a BC support group but we had really hit it off. We had been dx around the same time, were similar age (she's 46 I'm 47) we both had two children of similar ages. Her initial surgery was a lumpectomy - then in January she had local recurrence and a mx but then it all went wrong - mets - and just downhill all the way. She was buried last Saturday. It really upset me - she was so strong and so positive - I was talking to her two weeks ago tonight - she had just been told that there was nothing else to be done but we planned on meeting up once she had time to come to terms with the lack of prognosis. I still can't believe she went so fast.
Sorry - for dragging down the humor of things.
I hope I haven't missed anything significant (I haven't read back on the pages I missed) - I hope everyone is doing ok - Did everyone get tucked in nice and comfy over the past little while and have you been having nice snacks???

Ainm, too sad! Here...............{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs for you}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I hope that your friend was able to have good final times with her family. Cancer sucks.
I can't think of anything significant, but as far as tucking in--it's too hot here. I'm lying on top of the cover with the fan pointed right at me.

Jo-5 sending one up for your friend
Tonight I will meet up with a lady I was put in contact with via the internet. She was seeking someone in our community that had TN BC. We have been messaging each other for the past few months as she began her journey with chemo. Tonight are families are going to meet up for dinner and fireworks, weather permitting. I'm both excited and nervous.
My dear daughter is at the bedside of her boyfriends grandma as she finishes her time her on earth and goes to meet her Father. It is the first times my DD has ever watched someone die and is having a very rough time with it. She suffered from lung cancer and heart disease. She refused any type of medical care.

Paulding-Have fun this evening. Be your crazy, great self & all will be fine.
Those sort of experiences are tough for us to watch our kids learn from, but it does make them more compassionate & kind later. My DD saw my granpa slip away in ICU when she was 11-not intentionally, it just happened. She was devasted at the loss of a loved one, but she has better knowledge now.

Doesn't it throw you when you see someone's new avatar? I get so used to see the previous one, I feel like I am not sure if it is the same person!

Yes Meece. That's my hair on 7-7 just before my 4th cut since my hair came back curly! And it's still wavy/curly now. I still can't believe I have curly hair after a life time of straight locks!

I had curly hair when mine came back. As I let it grow longer it straightened right back. I cut an inch or more off yesterday. I have to get up the nerve every time I trim my hair. Once you've been without it, ou really appreciate every inch you have.

I hear you on the hair cuts. I think I scared my hair dresser when I went for my first cut. I told her I worked to hard to get it this long, DON"T SCREW IT UP! Poor thing, I did tip her well though.
You look great Joni. Guess I need to update too.0 -
Paulding! I love your avatar! I didn't recognize you at first!

It is way to hot down here, School starts on August 4,Can you believe that! I have to be back for for meetings July 29. It's just not right! I am in a sad mood . Sad that summer is almost over. Then, it is always fun to see friends you haven't seen in a couple months and the excitement of a new school year kicks in-feeling better already-alittle.0

wow-I wish school started that soon here. When does your school year end nmi?

High school graduation is about the 2nd week in May and everyone else gets out the week before Memorial Day. I have a brother that lives in Washington State, I know his kids don't get out of school until late June, then go back after Labor Day. It just seems we go back earlier every year! Teachers think it's a conspiracy(jk)
But then we have a whole week off for Thanksgiving, 2 wks for Christmas, 1 week for Mardi Gras (of course), 1 week for Easter break. Then you have to throw in a few extra days off for hurricane threats in the fall... so let's see, what's LA ranked in US education, but that discussion doesn't belong on BC.org.

Hi all - I'm back but just passing through as I'm whupped! Spent a great week with my sister in "The Villages" in Florida - a community where people go to retire and start to live! We had so much fun and wore ourselves out. They have activities and clubs for every interest imaginable.
http://www.thevillages.com/ Best kept secret; don't go unless you are prepared to move.(as I will be within 2 years!)
