Zinny nooooo! That means mine are going to go again soon! My oncologist told me to expect it for the next few months until they start to stagger their growth cycle. I guess cancer face is coming back!

Ladies, what is the deal with eyelashes? What do you mean they falling again? How much past chemo? I thought once they grow that is it?
What about eyebrows? My eyelashes and eyebrows just grew back . Eyelashes still short but there...What should i expect?

Gosh, the never ending hair shedding, and now lashes and brows will fall out again? Just when I thought at least I don't have the cancer look, it'll come back..I was planning on having my brows shaped next week before I return to work😭

Re: lashes and brows, found this old thread https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topics...
Someone should invent cold caps for eyelashes and brows

Positive Power - My bald spot was about 4 inches around - crown of my head. I kept it covered with a very wide headband and Toppix. It's filled in with hair now - short and fuzzy. My hair consistency is still cotton candy/troll doll. But I pull it back every day - with a headband and clipped up in the back...so mostly it just looks like a bad hair style, and way too much gray.
I can't wear it down - it's just too crazy looking. I'm waiting until 3 months PFC (October 5) to color and cut. But on a positive note - I'm not shedding.
But now apparently I'm possibly going to lose my eyebrows/lashes again? UGH, I hope not. Though my standards for how I look are changing daily!!

Thanks, Heidi. Back to lots of eyeliner. But not cancer face, Runner!! The pale green/yellow is hopefully gone, so it's "just" lashes…lol.

Thanks Aimless glad to know a large patch is covered. I don't have a full bald batch but do have patches through which scalp can be seen with scanty growth. Just hope the cotton candy and troll hair goes soon as well.

Did anyone have success in keeping their eyebrows and lashes with latisse?
0 -
I used Latisse on my eyebrows throughout chemo (my onco didn't allow me to use it on my lashes while I was going through the treatment), and started using it on my lashes too as soon as I was done with chemo. Although I lost brows and lashes after chemo, but it was gradual and not all at once, so didn't have to pencil in brows. Looked like new tiny growth was pushing out old hair.
Now I have the same full brows back, and a lot of lashes that are still short but full. Still using Latisse nightly and willkeep using Latisse for now. No side effects for me.

Thanks for the info. I am post my second chemo treatment by 11 days and I just started using the latisse but was using Brian Johnson brow. I can tell my brows have thinned a lot. But I am hoping to hold on to enough to get through this. My hair has thinned a ton so we will see how long I can hold off on wig.

What about upper lip hair? Or these persistent ones that retuned on my chin - wouldn't mind losing THEM again !!

Aimless: lol. I'm not a hairy person at all, so the very little body hair I had, not back at all which is fine by me. Now dreading losing lashes and brows again. Brows more than lashes.

I used latisse and brian jospehs gel both after first chemo. I kept some of my top lashes- enough to look ok. Bottom lashes did not stay and whole row of short lashes came back 6 weeks PFC. Eyebrows also looked ok 6 - 7 weeks PFC, though I did loose some despite using Latisse. Now look ok.
Just want the head hair to come in thicker and longer.

Starting chemo in about two weeks, should I start using the latisse now before I start or wait until I'm done? Thanks

I would use from first day of chemo and use a little bit on eyelashes and brows . You will still have thining but keep some hopefully , and they come back very fast. Also use pure castor oil to condition.

aimless, lol. I forgot about chin hair! So far I haven't seen any. I probably will now. I already look like a red chipmunk from steroids so a beard would complete my look.

Hello Everyone,
If anyone needs wigs Im looking to get rid of the ones i no longer need. 2 are synthetic one is human hair. I'm in New york. The Human hair one is long black and straight as are the synthetic ones. The Human hair one I paid over $1000 for i actually wore it once then i decided that it was uncomfortable. Message me if interested. As a side note. the cold caps did work for me but no fully I lost hair on one side of my head and the ther i did not. I had to stop using them because there was no point in continuing I had to shave the other side off and wear wigs. My hair is now growing in slowly but growing! Thanks

Hello!!!!
I am now ten weeks PFC and hair is growing back around hairline but my troll hair keeps shedding and I don't know what to do with it! I am putting it back or with a headband but really think I need to cut it but is it best to wait until it stops shedding?! Help!!!!!!

Jane75 I am at the same point and our hair looks similar, although mine is thinner in front just from recent shedding. All about the headbands right now! If you get a cut, please post a pic, maybe that will help me decide what to do with mine!

Ive cut my hair to my ears . earlier was to my shoulders - looked ridiculous as there was hardly any hair left. Have also got a wig now 7 weeks PFC as I just want to look ok when going out. Hair is growing back at various places but I think will take a few months to get length back.

I just got mine trimmed up, mid-chemo after a big shed. Feels so much better, she layered it up a bit and when I use a little root lift it really "tricks the rye

Jane75 - my hair was very thin and hopeless so I got a short pixie cut two weeks ago (10 1/2 weeks PFC, and shedding had slowed down). It looks much better. I don't have daily shedding anymore, but still a lot of shedding on wash days and when I style it with dryer on cold setting😢 Still waiting for regrowth.

I know it's probably so against protocol....but my extensions plumped my hair up! It is amazing! My hair looks so much better! And I don't think I am really shedding....maybe it's because it doesn't stress me out of I do! will be 10 weeks pfc on Monday. Ok...figured out pictures. This is my hair today. Not excited about selfie...but wanted to share how extensions made my hair so much fuller! Now that I know how to post pics...I will post mine on the other thread.

wow jgab Extensions look fabulous. Where did you get them done from ..

jgab - your hair looks fabulous. I did ask my stylist about extensions but my hair was super damaged and thin, so it wasn't going to work for me. He also said it will make the condition of my hair worse and causes more damage. My only option was to just get rid of the hair so it grows back healthy. But I wish I could get extensions too.

Jgab - your hair looks fabulous. I did ask my stylist about extensions but my hair was so thin and damaged that my only option was to cut it short and get rid of cotton candy hair as much as possible. He said extensions will damage my hair more, and I didn't have enough hair for the ext to hold on to. I'll consider it again if my hair doesn't grow fast enough.

Today is 13 weeks and one day PFC and I think the shedding has stopped! When running fingers through hair not one strand come off! Next hair wash will be interesting...
Now just dreading the next eyelash/brow loss cycle....

meg2016, I am going to hang on for another couple of weeks because if I can avoid getting a lot very short cut that would be best! Just depends if shedding stops!!!

Jane75,
I have taken Phalia's suggestion and use my eyeglasses/readers pushed up on top of my head to pull back the very thin wispy sides. Phalia used her sunglasses as an "accessory"! My hair is about the same length as yours and I have the same issue of thicker in back and very thin on sides. I am holding off on any cuts of length yet. I'm PFC 4 1/2 weeks.

Zinny - sorry about your brows!! That's horrible. Aren't you about 6 months out now? I see what you mean about this never ending..ugh. Hope you're feeling good physically, though, and this is the last time the brows take an adventure.
Runner - happy for you that you have some resolution on all of your pain and sending good vibes that things are getting under control for you
Aimless - wishing you good luck with your upcoming hair cut!
jgab - your hair looks absolutely phenomenal! I am doing TCHP too (12x weekly) and as of this week I don't think my hair is going to hold out. I have similar hair to yours. After the 8th chemo a lot is suddenly coming out while not too much at all was shedding before. Getting nervous.
KD- Are you going back to work this week or is it next? In any case, thinking of you. I hope that goes well and it is an easy and positive transition for you. I am taking a long leave (5 months) myself and am nervous about going back.
I wish all the best for everyone else as well.
a little rant on the hair - I can't believe how upsetting it is to have this hair falling all around constantly. It's not clumps but it gets stuck on everything - my arms , my clothes, my face, the keyboard. It's relentless. My eyebrows just suddenly thinned a TON yesterday which I am actually sitting here crying about. I had no idea how truly vain I can be. That also makes me cry I've been using Brian Joseph's. Maybe I should have tried Latisse? Eyelashes still there but assuming they will go soon. Do you guys think it's about 6 weeks til brows start to come back in again? Now I'm scared they won't come back because my brain is stuck in a rut of constant fear about everything. Not very calm and centered today.
Thanks everyone. Take good care of yourselves. Wishing you many moments of peace and happiness.
Susanna
