bigapple thanks for the tips about the drain.  I only have one and it makes me feel so weird.  I will be going to a July4th BBQ on Sunday and already trying to figure out what I will wear.  It is around 110+/- every day here, so it's got to be something cool.  Thanks for the insight about all the good meds being gone...could not figure out why I felt so terrible when the day before was so great.  I am healing well, so that's what counts here

ally1423 nice to know that recovery is not too far away.  I have to take the narcotics at night but during the day I try to use Tylenol only.  The narcs make me dehydrated.

    Happy 4th.

Speech, something "blousey" is what worked for me. I would pin my drains to the bottom of my bra under my breast and let the drape of a large shirt or a gathered smock top hide everything. As BigApple implied, you'd be surprised how little most people notice. Hope you stay cool and take it easy, easy, easy in order to give yourself a quicker recovery!

It is raining here. Kind of bummed because my sister in law had arranged to care for a friends dog in exchange for the use of their pool while they were out of town. It looks like we may only be able to enjoy food if fireworks get canceled, too. On the positive side, it isn't blazing hot and my parents are making home made pineapple ice cream. Yummmm!

TracyAnne, it's nice to hear from you. I think you are wise to hold off on "judging" your results too soon. Everything changes as it heals! Here's hoping that your biopsy results are B9 and finally bring you some peace. Your weight sounds healthy. I bet you look great!

Meg9, I'm wishing for the same good news for your sister (and better times ahead). I was certainly worried about my twin sister several months after my MX. I was terrified that she would end up with the same diagnosis as me. Fortunately, her biopsy results were clear. You never know until you know. It's hard. The waiting requires disciplined thinking, but it really helps to have the encouragement and support of loved ones.

Here's hoping everyone has a nice holiday weekend.

Hi, everyone.  Today is my first day to check our one-step thread since we departed from home a week ago.  I think most of you are on a trip, too!  Not much conversation.  We travelled to Tunica, MS, the first day and on to St. Louis the next day.  There we went to a Cardinal game, which was ho-hum until the bottom of the 9th inning.  I enjoyed the ballpark atmosphere but wonder how families can afford the ticket price and the sky-high cost of food at the concession booths.  We spent over $50 and didn't eat anything worth the money.  The tickets were $88.  Parking was zero since we took a free shuttle to the ball park.  One couple sitting in front of us had 4 children, so that's 6 tickets at $40.  There's no break for children.  The seats cost the same.

We're now in MN, about 10 miles north of Rochester, home of the Mayo Clinic.  Several people have urged us to go to the clinic for a tour.  And we just might do that.

Friday morning we played golf at a pretty municipal course that was very reasonably priced and in beautiful condition.  It was wonderful not to get drenched in perspiration on a summer day.  The weather has been pleasant, but today, 4th of July, we've had some gentle rain that is undoubtedly putting a damper on cook-out plans for a lot of people.  We're enjoying a lazy day.  This morning we watched the men's Wimbledon final on tv.

I hope all of you are doing well.

Ladies, refer to the thread from Colette regarding "another site stealing entrees from our site"  and posting them  on the breast cancer awareness site.  I used her link(was unable to copy and paste for you all), it has this specific thread with your postings.  If you  use her link directly you will be able to see this thread under the breast construction when scrolling down.  If you try to enter without the link you have to use a password and join.

They even have the thread about linking into timtams site for photos.

    Why would this happen?

Thanks PB22. Hmmm, what a strange thing! To understand what you were talking about, I read your post titled "Website stealing our posts!"

Carole, it's great to hear from you, sounds like you are having a lovely time. We had a supurb holiday. Enjoyed swimming in the pool (I beat my niece in a little race and I'm not stinging as a result swimming this year!), enjoyed good food and the best fireworks I've seen in years. Toward the end of the display, it began to sprinkle, but we stuck it out for a beautiful finale!

I quit taking the Neurontin and am hoping that my latest itching/rash episode was a side effect of the medication. I'm enjoying taking nothing at the moment and hope that I may have turned the corner and be saying "goodbye" to the Post Mastectomy Pain Syndrome. Dare I holler "Yahoo!"?

Just catching up with the latest postings...

Caroleh...were you able to get to tour Mayo?  I have had all my medical care at Mayo here in Phoenix.

Okiegal...yes, I do hope you are pain free from now on.

Sounds like you both had nice 4th July activities.  I had my first social outing since surgery on the 28th.  We went to a friends house for BBQ and I was able to wear "real" clothes and hide my drain.  I went to the dr today but the drain is still in...have to wait a few more days.  I am able to wear a sport bra which is more comfortable than the one the hospital issues.  Hoping for improvement so I can get this thing out on Friday before I leave on my trip.

    Carole:  Welcome to the North!

Okiegal:  I haven't swam yet but it is probably good exercise.  Will try that soon.

Speech:  Your drain will be gone before you know it!

BigApple:  You have the surgery behind you.  You have been so positive throughout all your troubles and I wish you continued health.

    Hi to everyone else.

Off to work:  Beautiful sunrise.  Heading out this weekend for two weeks for Holidays with all my family.  Take care and will check in when I'm back.

Just checking in to say Good Morning from Sunny Phoenix it's 8:15 am and 85 degrees and heading for 108.  My heart goes out to all the East coast ladies who are dealing with a heat wave Surprised.  I know what that's like every day here in the desert in summer.  Keep cool and hydrated!

upcreek thanks for the encouragement.  I know it will be just a matter of time and then only a memory.  Have a wonderful trip with your family!

Hi everyone, glad to see the conversation continuing when I'm not paying attention. The weather here is odd also, but in the reverse. We are still overcast and cool, even after June Gloom is supposed to be gone. It was misting this morning.

Speech, Those irritating drains! Glad they do their job, and we are all so delighted to see them go.

Okiegal, I'll give a big YAAHOOOOO for you and am hoping you'll be in that pain never again.

I'm creeped out by the idea of the transfered posts.

    Hi all,

It's unusually June Gloomish here also. It's July and should be getting drier and hotter. Instead we had several inches of rain yesterday. Northeastern Oklahoma is turning into a big mold spore. Achoo! At least we don't have to worry about earthquakes!

Speech, how are you doing? How many days out are you and how soon do you leave to go on your trip? Do you think you will be taking your drains with you?

Thanks for the good wishes, Ally. I think I am free from my all over tingle/prickle pain. I did a weight workout on Wednesday and nothing reoccurred. I'm going to cancel my appointment with the pain management doctor for now. I think that a lot of the itching and sensations I experienced during the last few months were actually caused by a reaction to the medication. But overall, it did help relieve the other tingling and prickling. What I have now is occasional and probably normal. I'm really happy to be at this stage!

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all doing well.

Hello Ladies....hope everyone is feeling great

Okiegal...I am glad you are feeling better and getting too work out without problems.  It's great timing for me--I got my drain (only have 1) out today! I am 12 days out and feeling much better each day.  The last two nights I slept fairly well, only waking up 1 time to use the restroom.

I am leaving for my trip on Sunday and I am very excited.  This is a training workshop that I am attending on a scholarship.  I had to apply and was one of 14 people accepted.  So for me there was so much riding on getting to go to this event.   I anticipate that I will be fine.  My only nemesis right now will be fatigue.

    All the best to everyone!

Fortunate, I have family in the Temecula/Anza area and they have really felt all three earthquakes in the past month or so...I feel nervous for them.  I remember being in one as a child out in LA, and how scared my mom was, which of course scared me even more.

No pathology results yet, and it's been nine days.  It's just going to be a waiting game, I guess, what with the fourth of July holiday and the fact that I didn't have the procedure done in a hospital, but rather a plastic surgery center, so specimen had to be shipped to lab.  I don't think about it a lot, but when I do think about it, I dwell on unhappy possibilities.

Speech, congrats on getting the drain out.  For me, the point where the drain went continued to be sharply sore for days afterwards.  Enjoy your conference...glad you feel up to going.

Gonna try to get to sleep now, here at 4:00 a.m!  Some pain in the lifted/reduced breast has been keeping me awake.  Flares up, then there will be none for hours...flares up again.  Lots of swelling still.

Have a good weekend, all.  Meg, how's your sister doing?

Speech, what great news! Especially because you won't have to dress around a drain on your trip. I'm really glad you're doing so well, here's wishing you stamina and a great trip with lots of excellent information!

TracyAnne, it's good to hear from you. I read somewhere that poor sleep can affect your pain levels. Hope you got some good rest last night and that your results are clear.

The sun is shining this morning, what a welcome sight! Have a good weekend all, I'm off to re-visit an estate sale. Everything is marked down today and there's a book I've decided I need!

Hi to everyone.  We're still at the same rv park north of Rochester, MN.  We haven't toured Mayo, but the option to do so was open, we were told.  One day we biked a pretty bike trail along a river.  Two other days we've played golf.  Rochester is a very nice city for getting things done, like truck repairs.  The MN people are extremely nice.  Tomorrow we'll be moving on, heading down to Spirit Lake on the Iowa/Mn border.  There we're meeting another rv couple who live in their motorhome year round. We met them three years ago up in Montreal and have kept in touch and met up every year since.

Speech, I'm glad the drain is out.  Good luck to you on your trip.  Okiegal, how wonderful that you're finally getting rid of the tingling and pain after more than a year.  Meg, I'm wondering about your sister.  Fortunate, earthquakes sound really scary.  Tracy, somehow I missed your post explaining about a possible problem requiring pathology.  Sure hoping that everything is ok.

I'll check in whenever we have internet.  Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Caroleh..you are doing what I have fantasized about for years...an RV trip for an extended period. Sound so much fun!

Take care all...I will try to check in while in Philly.

I'm back from our week vacation and feeling tired. My sister visited today...she will have her biopsy on Thursday, July 15. Hopefully, she will get her results on Friday.

Okiegal, I am sooooo happy for you! ... Thanks for the recipe!

Speech, I hope your trip is going well and you have time to rest. Yay, the drain was removed before your trip!

Carole, Sounds like you're having a good trip too! You make me tired...where do you get your energy!

Upcreek, Enjoy your vacation with family!

Ally, None of my bathing suits fit me either. I heard there is a good sale going on at Lord & Taylor.

Big Apple, How are you feeling? You have been through so much and always maintain good attitude. I hope you are healing well.

Tracy, Thinking of you and hoping you're feeling better.

    Hi All:

Meg I feel good thank you for asking. I am flying to Las Angelos  tomorrow morning for a Board meeting,  not so excited about waking up so early, but I get the time back since I'm flying west. Things look really good and my energy seems back to where it ws before. Its so nice to be able to wear regular clothes again. After the MX and initial recon, I would not wear a bathing suit, I just looked to weird. I went to buy a new suit and could not find anything, I came home and tried on my pre mx suite and vola one fit great, a little roomier in the top than it used to be, but at least I don't look or feel like something from the side show, tons of the other old suits are .no go, but I have one so I am excited.

Speach I am so happy for you.

    Okie: yea for sun

Carole, you certainly know how to enjoy travel!!!

    Tracey feel better

Fortunate: I hope all is well

My swimsuits fit, but are somewhat, uncomfortably tight on top. I love to swim, but don't have ready access to a pool and hate shopping for swimsuits, so I've decided to make my pre mx suit last another season. Besides, if I lose weight between now and next Spring, I'll need a new suit anyway, right? Hope springs eternal!Laughing

BigApple, glad your life is getting back to normal and hope you have a nice trip out to L.A. I'm really missing the drier CA air these days. I investigated a musty odor in my tiny little studio and found mold! It had started on the floor and crawled up some canvases and panels. I began a big "clean out" yesterday, with a "heat index" of 110 degrees! If I get started again this morning, perhaps I can miss the worst of the heat this afternoon. With a little help from the sun, vinegar, TSP solution and chlorine, I think I can win this batttle, but it's going to be a battle!

Meg, welcome back from your vacation. I hope everything goes smoothly for your sister tomorrow.

Speech, hope you are having a good trip.

    Best to the rest!

    Hello Everyone,

BigApple, I'm happy to hear you are healing well and have your energy back so soon! Enjoy your trip and take it easy!

Speech, I hope your trip is going well and you are comfortable.

Okiegal, My old bathing suits are big on top and tight on the bottom. Even when I lose the extra pounds they will still be big on top! Undecided

Sorry to hear about the mold. The parsonage had three different kinds of mold in the basement. One was dangerous and the entire basement had to be gutted out and everything in it had to be thrown out! Then it was treated... I know the cost was high to have a professional remove it, but well worth it. I don't know what the final cost was because I left the church before it was done. You have a big job ahead of you!

I found swimming helped my chest muscles for a while. When I first started swimming it hurt. Then, as I swam, I was surprised how good I felt. Now, I'm back to that tight, squeezing feeling again.

I bought a new computer. It's a desk top with a 25" monitor. I'm having difficulty looking at the monitor because of its size, but it nice... I'll get used to it. I'm starting a new project. We have a lot (hundreds) of old slides. I am transferring them to my computer and then I am going to make photo albums and put them on DVD's. I'm learning how to fade and give slow movement to each picture. I will also add music...need to learn that too! This should keep me busy forever!

It continues to be hot and humid. We finally got some much needed rain. I hope Carole is OK. I heard there are big storms in MN.

I hope everyone else is ok too!

Hello all--Just a quick post as I head out the door for my women's annual.  I got the good news on Tuesday, one year to the day that my family  doc found my lump, that pathology on the recent surgery was all clear:  no sign of malignancy anywhere!  Sure enough, the new lump was a fibroid.  I'm feeling much better, almost back to full activity though I'm still supposed to avoid lifting over 10 lbs for a few weeks to come.

I am so grateful for the benign report, especially after logging in here and seeing on the main page the "active topics" list that pops up...women who are diagnosed stage IV from the beginning after years of annual clear mammograms.   I have such compassion for them and their families, and wonder why some of us are so lucky and others so unlucky.

Meg, today is your sister's biopsy day.  My thoughts are with you and her!

Hi everyone, its so nice to see you all here. Trips and checkups and swimsuits oh my. Summer has arrived here with a vengeance. It's hot and clear and everything the San Diego tourist wants. Except for the jellyfish and stingrays which probably don't get into the vacation literature. My garden is booming, lots of tomatoes and peaches. DH and I enjoyed the best peach cobbler last week. It was better than any cobbler I had ever made... do you ever surprise yourself with your own creations?

Okiegal, my sympathies for your battle with mold. Decades ago i lived at the beach and found my closet in a very mildewy state. Lots of scrubbing with white vinegar did the trick. Ick Ick. My current nemesis is silverfish. They're everywhere... more ick ick. Do any of you know a natural repellent?

I consider swimsuit shopping a form of torture and a lesson in humility.

    Hugs to you all.

    Hello Ladies

I am back from Philadelphia--the workshop was excellent and I am so glad I was able to go.  I got to Philly on Sunday and was so excited to be there that I did TOO MUCH WALKING!  I woke up in the wee hours with very swollen breasts!  We had a short day on Monday so I went back to my room and layed down from 4 pm until the next morning.  My breasts went back to normal, but they kept swelling each day.  Even with just sitting in a chair!

I will see my BS on Friday and hope to be cleared to go swimming!  It's 114 here in Phoenix, so cooling off in the pool would be nice!

Anyway, I am doing okay and glad to be home in my own bed!   HUGS to all.

Speech, so glad ur back & things went well....now maybe u can relax the rest of the summer!!

we had an "earthquake" near the DC regio the other nite..a 3.6 didnt feel of hear a thing!!! lol

Bathing suits: i noticed the ones w/ a little cushion/padding by the breasts help..w/out there is an empty space..lol i wear a v neck one, the others fall off...i have been a good girl & been wearing @ least sports bra everyday (practically) & 2x wore a reg bra. It drove me crazy!! all day i kept pushing it down. I did find one that was a little longer, &the cup is a "B", but even in that one there is this xtra room in the cup...its hard weraingthat kind of bra & wearing a tighter fitting shirt..bad move!! i did that the other day & didnt realize...but thru the shirt u saw the xtra rooom (i did at least)...lol evryone @ wk was looking @ me b/c i dont think i've worn tighter fitting shirts..so i did it on purpose but i always see ppl looking @ my chest..lol its normal reaction...just funny

AW, i am not in agony, but my right breast (not the one that was just fixed) still swells a lot...i spoke to my ps & he said i shld c my BS..he says it may be lymph node fluid..but id idnt have any taken out so i dont understand...i will b calling my BS on Monday & see what she says...

I am also going to see a neurologist finally for my herniated disks in my neck..oy they have been so painful & the pain down my left arm....the tingling is driving me crazy...

so i hope evryone is having a good summer..its been so HOT here..i cant believe this weather!!!

    hugs!!

Speech, glad you're back in relatively good shape. Hope the swelling stops and you are cleared for a cool swim. Isn't Philadelphia great... one of my favorite cities. Was your meeting in the wonderful convention center?

Tinkerbell, You sound so good. Hope you BS has soothing things to say about the swelling, like its just the heat perhaps? I have found that wearing a lined, contour bra with slightly flatter non-pointy cups works best. Since I'm a uinlateral, it flattens the natural side to pretty well match the implant side. Maybe it would work for you on both sides to get rid of the look of the unfilled tip. "Sigh", for the missing inch.

Have a good weekend everyone. The sky here is a hard bright blue... more heat today.

Tink I hope you get relief for your neck and it helps with the pain and swelling.  That is so tough to have these extra issues on top of all the breast stuff.

I have not tried my old bathing suit yet nor have I gone to try to buy a new one....I want to wait until my boobs settle down.  I did buy a bra today because I wanted an extra option for when I want to wear something that will show the sportsbra straps.  I found a great bra at Kohl's today.  Warner's Wire Free style #1012  The tag says "Elements of Bliss Front-Close Racerback".  It is similar to a sports bra, not as supportive but will do when I want to wear a sleeveless top when I go out for a few hours.  It is very comfortable.  I could not tell that my mx side was a bit different from the other side...and it looked great under my tank top!

fortunate1  Yes, I liked Philly alot...but I did not get a chance to explore the city in the evening after class.  I was too tired.  But the food was great and I enjoyed seeing all the old architecture.   I will hopefully go back.  The workshop was not in the convention center but in an office next to Children's Hospital (CHOP).  My professional organization is having its national convention in Philadelphia this November....would love to go back, but it's probably not going to happen.

Hope everyone is well....have a great weekend!
