When Rene & I met in 2014, Rene & Margaux having lunch, our trip to the park & fish & chips (with vinegar) in Sept. In 3 years, she became one of my best friends...I miss her. She would be cheering on her Seahawks right now :-)

RonnieKay thank you so much for posting. I am so thankful to hear that Rene's last stretch on the journey home was so peaceful. I am also so glad to hear that her DS and DDIL took Layla, what a blessing.

It makes me smile knowing Rene is in your hearts & prayers. Feelingfeline...Layla was really shy, mostly hiding from visitors. Every now & then she'd come out to see me. Rene was beyond pleased when Alex told her she came into the kitchen in the morning to see him while he made breakfast. Another one of those blessings that made her happy :-

Just thought I'd share a link to cable tv show featuring a Jesuit Priest who speaks from the heart on suffering (he was afflicted with blindness later in life). He is well trained in both science and philosophy and answers questions from viewers. He has helped me overcome so much initial fear and anxiety when I was first diagnosed. Thanks to his very candid, deep sharing of his own struggles, I can now trust God more and don't feel that my suffering is wasted (in remission for the time being). Hope you find him uplifting and edifying.

SajeScents - thanks so much for the link. I tune into EWTN occasionally but have never seen Fr. Spitzer. I am very interested in the intersection of science and faith. I'll look for his books, too.

We had a beautiful vigil Mass and it snowed on Christmas morning. Very pretty.
Today, we're celebrating the birthdays of my nephew (10) and my DD (going to be 19 on January 6).

I had a stressful & unpleasant biopsy on the Feast of St. Lawrence. As I was getting through it, I thought about how he was martyred, and I asked for his intercession. Was subsequently diagnosed as stage 1, triple negative. The weekend before surgery, after confession, my priest gave me the sacrament of Anointing. I took a Brown Scapular to the hospital with me, with instructions to place it around my neck if I wasn't going to make it. The whole while, I was begging for the intercession of my Blessed Mother, St. Agatha (patron of BC), and St. Joan of Arc (for courage). Everything has turned out ok, and I think I am a better person now, too. Grateful to Almighty God, and all of the Saints who helped me through this. So very grateful for catching the BC early, as well.

XXXGGGYYY, Welcome! I'm a fairly new Catholic, having converted 4 yrs ago. But I believe in the prayers of the Saints! Last year, I was scheduled to have a mastectomy on Dec. 6th, the Feast of St. Nicholas. We had been in our house a couple of yrs at that point, and somewhere in the move I had lost my St. Nicholas prayer card. I desperately searched for it weeks prior to my surgery. Thanksgiving weekend, as we were putting up Christmas decorations, my 7-yr-old son presented me with a red, decorative gift box that my husband had pulled out of the attic. My son told me to open it, that he thought there was something inside. When I opened it, my eyes widened as I saw there by itself in the box, my St. Nicholas prayer card! I had found it in the "Nick" of time. :-)
Also, my patron saint is St. Elizabeth of Hungary, whose feast day is Nov. 17th. Well, I'm embarrassed to say that this year the date came and went without me observing it. I had forgotten it! A few days after the fact I felt horrible and basically asked her to forgive me for missing her special day! Around Nov. 20th, someone contacted me to let me know that a book I had just written had been released...a couple of weeks in advance of the projected date. I visited the Amazon website and saw it released on Nov. 17th! I had asked St. Elizabeth to pray for me early in the process of writing the book. I can't help but to think she had something to do with the release date. Now I'll never forget her feast day or when my book became available!
I'm so thankful for the intercession of those who've gone before us and regret that I was in my 40s when I learned about the Communion of Saints and became Catholic. Trying to make up for lost time! :-) ~ Kim0 -

Did everyone put away their Christmas decorations today during Epiphany? Our tree and what few decorations we had displayed returned to the attic this morning. I hated to see them go! We still have lights outside and I think I'll turn them on one last time tonight before they go into hibernation. :-) ~ Kim

Hubby put the tree away last week, mainly because he was home from work. But, I love Epiphany. Nineteen years ago, my daughter was born on January 6, and I was so happy to (finally!) hold her.
