lol eph- I was thinking Lava soap- remember that one gritty and yucky green. I guess the stress of childbearing and childrearing does take its toll mentally and physically forever hahah.

Johnetta, welcome! I was also 48 when I finished rads. I know what you mean about others thinking we are "done" with the stupid cancer, but meanwhile we are taking pills, running to doctors, getting scanned and what-not. It is a little bit difficult to forget about it when the danged docs remind you every 3 months ;).

    How old are your kids?

Hi Johnetta - newbies are always welcomed. Glad that you found us - not crazy about the reason you had to come looking though. The gals here are super duper! Feel free to post, lurk, vent, share, support, encourage. We often travel in packs especially during pocket parties, so if you have an appt, scan, procedure or just need some company let us know and we will be there in a jiffy! That's the beauty of the virtual world.

Johnetta, welcome! The thread was, is and will be open to newbies always. I even wrote that at the bottom of the opener up at the top. I'm going to put that in bold for better visibility. You are right about people thinking our active treatment signals the end of our B/C, but anyone here can tell you what a big, fat error that is. Besides the anti-hormonal drugs and follow-ups, some of us even have nasty side effects that linger on, so how finished is that? Still, we are all happy to move forward, one step at a time and celebrate the small milestones that move us further away from D-Day (diagnosis day, I just appropriated the phrase!) when we got the B/C bomb dropped on us. How did your skin hold up through the rads?

Momine, Your use of "dang" in a sentence...You are so American, it is scary. SmileSillyHeart

wyo, Good point. The kids are responsible for at least a couple gray hairs, aren't they?

I'd be slacking if I did not post the classic turkey pose for our newbies who just finished rads...

The turkey definitely should be the animal mascot for Breast Cancer. Who else gets their breast meat carved up just like we do?

Maybe they should have re-thunk Pinktober and went for Pinkvember instead.

Welcome Johnetta, I was also 48 when I finished rads. Tamoxifen leaves me with side effects even though they are not near what they used to be so it is a daily reminder.

I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a very large one last Saturday and then will have a smaller one but still a house full tomorrow. Then Saturday I have to drive my mother to Houston so she can make her yearly trek to the cemeteries to put out poinsettias. I don't quiet get the thrill that she does out of this but I do like making my mom happy.

Eph, eish circumstances were different this year. I'd drive up and sit a spell with you at your brothers. Instead we are creeping home at a whopping 2-8 mph. at this pace we won't be home for Thanksgiving.

speaking as one who should be over BC by now, I am reminded everytime I look in the mirror that things don't always happen to someone else.

"gobble tov" - nicely done Eli.

I just heard on the radio this afternoon how Thanksgiving and Hannukah have fallen on the same day - first time since 1988!

Awaking from my food coma, not participating in Black Friday. Wouldn't it be kind of fun if all the days of the month had colors to them? Persimmon Tuesday. Cerulean Wednesday. Ecru Sunday.

What a cute pup! And I like the idea of colorful days.

Oh, good afternoon my friends, I got darn perturbed yesterday because I couldn't log on here. Today I realized I was pushing the wrong button. Lol.

I have spent the last few minutes reading, catching up and laughing! Gobble tov, everyone!!!

Even tho we all have "circumstances" the act of laughing can help us rise above them.

I had an amusing trip to the grocery store on Tuesday. I am to start my new diet on this Tuesday, so I said to myself don't buy too much. Famous last words. In the produce aisle a man friend approached, gave me a hug, then said didn't your hair used to be a different color? More like mine, which was grey. Ha ha I said. At least he noticed a change. Then while I was trying to get a container off a top shelf, it toppled over and bonked me on the head before breaking open when it hit the floor. Clean up in aisle 6, by that lady laughing like a crazy person.

I hope everyone is enjoying their time with family and friends (who sometimes are better than family)!

I had 4 generations around the table yesterday, even tho there were only 4 of us. 98 years old, 61, 38 and 28 we all had stories to tell.

Is that your dog, Eli? We watched some of the dog show. I'm waiting for them to sanction my dog, boxadore!

Oh please send that puppy to my house. What a cutie.

Long day yest. even though not that far a drive by Texas standards. Started out late to DD's. It was entirely my fault as my sweet potatoes were not finished and I could have done a few more steps ahead night b4. Picked her up (well more like joined her because she drove to my DB's house.) Just 6 of us but we had a good time. Dropped her off at 7 and home by 8. The only thing I had last night was peppermint hot chocolate. I'm seriously addicted to McStevens brand with crushed peppermints. DH just left for work until at least 10 pm - he did not get home until MN Wednesday. At least he got to sleep in a little today.

Hope no one had to go for the Pepto yesterday. No cooking here - they're feeding DH at work so I will graze on leftovers etc. I had way to much fun grocery shopping the past week and need to seriously eat up stuff - apples, celery, and other asst. less calorie friendly stuff.

Mac - what is the "adore" part of a boxadore? I occas. read the local boxer adoption page but my backyard (minus the goatyard) is very small. My rat terrier is just perfect for it for it so alas I see no boxer in my future.

Boxador = Boxer + Labrador (I think.) No, that is not my (Corgi) pup, just found the image. Yes, I did see the end of the National Dog Show and saw the American Foxhound take the Best of Show, the first time in that dog show's history that a Hound won the top spot. As a former houndog owner, (my supposedly part Foxhound passed last Thanksgiving,) I was happy to see that.

glennie19, welcome! I am not too familiar with Paget's. It sounds like yours was all DCIS with no invasion, so was it only the nipple that was affected and no other tumors found? Lucky that your nodes came out clear, and that the grade 3 had not spread beyond the ducts. Will you have to take any anti-hormonal drug or not?

Eli - I thought that was a Corgi. I love them and one would have a blast in my yard trying to find the mole tunneling out there. Again I probably do not need another dog; Terra the Terrier (I know I have no imagination) is only almost 7 I think. She is sunning herself in the window at the moment. More like a cat.

Made another cup 'o coffee and pigging out on House Hunters International. Current one is in the Bahamas.

A mole? My houndog dug one up once and squeaked it like a chew toy.

    That reminds me:

One fall day, after the farmer's wife had baked an apple pie and had set it on the back porch to cool, a family of moles in a nearby burrow caught the scent of it. Sticking his head out of the small hole, the large father mole said, "Mmmm! I smell brown sugar." The mother mole, squeezed in tight beside him and said, "Mmmm! I smell cinnamon." The baby mole pushed and pushed but could not fit into the crowded opening, "Hmmph!" he said, "I smell molasses."

thanks for the laugh Elimar! Need to catch up, but not before a much needed nap. Yesterday was the best Thanksgiving in many years (made up for my lonely, dismal one last year), I over-ate. Now, to sleep it off...

(Edited because iPad changed "over-ate" to "overrate", a different meaning!)

Eli - It took 3 readings b4 I got the joke. Ha Ha. My Mole-a$$ has been busy this afternoon. DH stomped his dirt down and he's been busy redigging it.
