Getting ready to head out for my morning walk - late compared to work days - I can't believe how dark it still is at 6:30! its either walk at 6:30 and leave at 7:00 or leave at 6:30 and walk by work at 7:00! I guess the mood will decide daily! Supposed to be nice through Wednesday (high 60s low 70s)- then Wednesday night temp drops and Thursday 33 - can't remember if its Wednesday night or Thursday night low of 20 . then it warms up. And the "S" word is in the forecast for Thursday. My kids arrive on Friday so glad the weather will be gone by then. Been looking at airfares for winter break and they are "sky high" - higher than I've seen in years...keep hoping they'll go down a bit.
Well best get going walking. Have a great Sunday

Four mile run this AM but again my heart rate didn't cooperate. This is beyond frustrating--I think it's a side effect from the radiation since I've never had this issue before. Whatever the cause, it needs to go away.

Super-busy weekend for me. I managed 30 minutes of abs and 30 minutes of dancing with an online fitness guy, I went to yoga today & now am going to force myself down to the treadmill for awhile.

Would have worked out but I was battling a slight cold over the weekend due to the extreme change in temps here.

DH and I are visiting DD and her husband in northern NH. There’s beautiful kayaking on the Connecticut River near their house. Now DH and I both have colds, so maybe we’ll do road-trip adventures and no hiking today. But, here’s two days ago’s view from my kayak, and we went about 7 miles out and back. Plenty for me, since newly-recruited-for-kayakingshoulder and back muscles were quite surprised about this activity!

Went to Busch Gardens amusement park on Saturday...sometimes I just don't understand Mr. Fitbit...I had 16K steps and 96 minutes of activity...but I was still 41 cal short of my daily goal??? Beautiful day in the park though.

it's a beautiful fall day here. I did some yard work and we took the puppies for a walk. Zumba and yoga tonight.

TH: I use acrylic paints on the pumpkins. You can buy them at any craft store or Walmart. I like Delta Ceramcoat paints but they can be hard to find. Go for it! It's fun!
Hiking Lady and Ruth: Great pictures!
TT: I bet Saturday was a nice day at the park.
M0mmy: Take care of your cold.
Walked/ran yesterday and today. Much easier now that Fall has actually arrived.

Lovely pictures! New Hampshire is beautiful.
Hope the 2 of you with colds get better fast! I had one in August that really hung on.
I walked for a placid 25 minutes today. My left knee is acting up so I took it easy and wrapped it in a cold pack when I got home. I am hoping by taking it easy "this too shall pass". But I do see my Rheumatologist in a week or so if it lingers, for my routine checkup.

I am. Today will be laundry and starting to drag my winter wardrobe down

Got a four mile run in this AM. Heart rate did OK. I started taking magnesium yesterday and I'll give the tamoxifen one more week to see if the magnesium calms everything down. This blows though, won't lie.

Yesterday did a restorative 75 min Yin yoga class at lunch and then a Core-Strength Barre class after work. A young man (picture college football player) arrived too late for the class he wanted so he reluctantly took the Barre class with only us women(!)...10 minutes into class he was sweating and not able to maintain poses/reps. It was eye opening for him and inspiring for us who were working, but able to march on. March on everyone! TT

well still waiting to have a signature line -- I hate waiting! Next apt is this Thursday with a stero biopsy on the "other" girl. Sigh. No dates for anything else which annoys the heck out of me. I want my surgery date "yesterday." They said it takes a bit of time to get a coordinated date and consult with plastics. Sigh.
I'm just continuing marathon training and if I can do a workout I do it and if I cannot do it I won't
I'm making sure I get plenty of rest adding that to my training schedule -- went to bed at 7:30 last night!
Was able to do my workout today -- didn't hit the exact paces my coach had but I hit damn good paces and wasn't far off -- was holding back to not get quite so fatigued. 10.45 miles done.
That workout was to have been tomorrow but I felt rested upon waking and my heart rate was in a good place, not indicative of fighting off something -- so with my coach's blessing we agreed I'd do it today if I woke up feeling good.
When I was running this morning on the easy segment I started thinking about surgery and power walking after and was imagining not using my arms. I am just terrified as in my world, "running is my thearpy."

Did two loads of laundry. Then I dragged the bulk of the winter clothes for hubby and I down and changed them out.

just back from my lunchtime yoga class...where we celebrated the 90th birthday of one of our yoga team ... George's wish on his b'day cake that he is there with us doing the same thing for his 95th! So should we all. TT

I love that ... my mom was working out with a personal training up until 1 month before her death -- she had lung cancer and was 94 ... I bet George will have a great 95th Bday!

iwaveatcows , running's my therapy too. Not sure what your possible treatment plan is but you've mentioned surgery and plastics so I'm guessing mx. I know that surgery takes a hot minute to recover from but your baseline fitness will help a lot.
I was able to trot a bit the week after my lumpectomy. I also ran throughout radiation treatment, although toward the end I did have to sort of hold my elbow out to spare my fried breast. Radiation fatigue is real but running didn't make it worse. So I figured if I'm going to be fatigued, it might as well also be from running.
If you do end up on hormone blocking therapy (again, not sure about your dx, I'm hormone positive), there are some side effects that can affect your fitness. I'm in the middle of that now and evaluating whether or not I'll stay on these drugs. As you said, running is my therapy.

Watching the weather report on the 4 pm news - tomorrow high of 79 - then at 4pm tomorrow afternoon 75 (48 by 7pm) and then Thursday afternoon same time, 25!! Yup 50 degree drop!!! 1 - 3" snow currently predicted for Denver. Winds will pick up tomorrow afternoon as temperatures drop. I guess I'll be saying goodbye to my petunias in the garden. By Saturday mid 60s. Crazy Denver weather!
78 high for today....its gorgeous out but a tad warm in the sun.
Signing off for the night. Tonight starts Yom Kippur and goes through tomorrow evening. 25 hour fast - no food or water!! Most of day is spent in synagogue.

Welcome Iwave! No matter what treatments you end up with, being fit going in will help you bounce back a lot better & quicker. Plus, the athlete's mentality helps with recovery too, because you don't WANT to be down.
We are supposed to be getting Karen's same snow, but worse. We are in a winter storm watch starting tomorrow night and going through Saturday! We put away all our lawn furniture/hoses etc, but I just can't make myself cut down flowers and plants that still look good. I think I will bring the flowers in pots into the garage & if it gets nice again I can put them out again for awhile. Boo Hoo.
My Wednesday Walking group goes on an annual fall field trip to a state park about 1 1/2 hours away. We had planned to go tomorrow, but with the weather forecast so iffy, we jumped in a van and went today. It was a beautiful day for a walk (and a delicious lunch, and a drop of shopping). I went to Barre after we got back.

Karen and Ruth: NOT SNOW ALREADY! Good grief.
Ruth: Your WW group became the TT group today. Tuesday Trotters.
edj: What kind of heart rate problems are you having? You've mentioned it a few times.
Iwaveatcows: Welcome and I LOVE your username! Know that we are here for you.
TT: Way to go George!
Walked/ran today.

Hey Wonderland,
I track my heart rate on most runs because that's part of my training plan. Some runs are designed to be stressful but even there, there's a limit as to how high my heart rate should go. After running all these years, I know basically how my body's going to behave when I'm getting in the miles. Only now my heart rate spikes fast and stays high on some of these runs, and even incorporating walking intervals doesn't always help. This is a pretty drastic difference for me. I'm definitely not overtraining, we are (thankfully) out of the super hot weather. Since this started on about day 10 of tamoxifen, I suspect it's the drug.

Today is hauling the last of the winter clothes down and exchange them out.

Oh my gosh...talk of snow! I'm heading to Duck, NC on Sunday for our fall family week at the beach cottage! We do this every year over Columbus Day. It will be mid- to low-70's. For me perfect beach weather for walking on the beach 3-5 miles a day and sitting on the porch reading...and at the right time of day, having cocktails!
Going to Denver in early November for a conference...hoping NOT for snow. TT

Weights today--since I'm in Kansas, we tend to get Colorado weather a day or so later so we have a cold front moving in on Friday. Yippee! (being serious, love winter)

They've closed the North Cascades Highway for the winter so suspect there is more to come. I love to ski, so hoping for a great season.
Off to London in a couple of hours. I expect to get in plenty of walking as headed to the airport via public transportation. Next stop Heathrow! - Claire

edj: Hope your hr problem resolves. I was dx with afib in April. My hr was all over the place. It came out of nowhere. My brother said he has been on afib meds for 7 years (he never told my sisters or me about it until I told him I had it). It can be genetic. I told my doctor that my heart had deceived me. Luckily my 2 pills a day are working! Hope you can get to the root of your problem. As if the fear of bc isn't enough to worry about.

The Walking Women did our usual Wednesday walk this morning; if I get organized I will walk the puppies & go to Dance2Fit tonight. We are in a Winter Storm Warning starting about midnight & going through Saturday. That is bad enough; but tomorrow morning at 6am I am planning on flying to Santa Fe, where I'll meet up with 5 other ladies I met on this exercise thread (if you were here last spring, you got an invitation to join in the fun). So, HOPEFULLY my next post will be from New Mexico......otherwise I am going to be very, very, very crabby!!!

I have been MIA for to long! The grandkids are keeping me busy! Oldest granddaughter is running cross country, youngest grandson is playing soccer and the oldest grandson is in the 8th grade was invited to join the high school marching band. He also plays tennis, made the Youth Symphony Orchestra, takes guitar lessons and trombone. Anyway, just popping in to say I found a restorative yoga for cancer patients class that I love! I've been going for 2 weeks now and it's just what I needed. It's really helping the lymphedema and making a huge difference in my mental state to I hope to check in more now that I have a little more balance in my life. Keep moving girls! Ruth I can't believe you're going to get snow already! We're still hanging in the high 60s here during the day sometimes we make it to about 73 not sure when Fall's going to start!
