We're going to get cold next week too, Karen. Hopefully no precipitation though because we are already in a flood emergency situation. I subbed yesterday, raked leaves for 2 hours, and went to a football game. No formal exercise, but still got 12,000 steps! In a few minutes, I am off to work at a fund raiser; which will last until mid-afternoon. I hope to get a walk in after that (although what I should do is clean my desperately dusty/dirty house!).

We had just tons of rain too and when you look at the weather app it is flood watch, flood warning, river flood warning, gale warning, etc. i wish we could we send the rain to California. Today, however was a beautiful day. Been down with a cold but strolled at the lake for a half hour to see some sunshine, fall color and plenty of geese. They have left Canada and I believe have illegally crossed the border!

Cold her too - not much snow yet in Denver but it will snow into the morning. Got 8K steps in during the day - tonight - walked/paced in the house and got to 15K.

Worried about roads in the morning - hearing that they are icy - so far school is on time - not sure if I want a delayed start (2 hours if delayed start) or not - Planned to test a kid at a different school at 8 - if late start, it will mess it up -

Listening to the weather forecast - high today 29 - its now 17 with windchill of 4 - saying 3 - 6 inches overnight!!! Snow again Tuesday into Wednesday. 20s through Wednesday and 30s for Halloween

Finally got all the "stuff" out of the garage - brought some of it into the house - a few pieces were my late mother's - Finally after a few years of no garage for my car, finally there are 2 spaces in the garage - so my car is there tonight!!!

Karen, you can keep the snow--you don't need to send it on to Kansas! We're fine, we'd like to have fall weather for more than a week this year!

Back from my DH's 40th high school reunion and off to a week of detox as DH left this morning on business until Friday late. Too much rich food vs too little exercise.

This past weekend was high of 78-82...a little too warm for me at this time of year, but nice for one last walk on the beach! Hard to see but folks are in the water swimming and in bikinis on the beach!

As for the reunion, it is amazing the range of outcomes at 58 y.o. Some look 40 others 75 and 20% of the class had died....

Keep on at it folks! My exercise classes are 30% folks in their 80's...we can do it. TT

Its so snow and quiet on snowy mornings. Went out to shovel the driveway at 5:45 then went for a walk....love the peace. A few neighbors were also doing their driveways and only a few cars driving by. School is on a 2 hour late start. Ready to jump in the shower and leave - I'll take advantage of some quiet time at work - hoping the roads aren't too aweful.

    Have a great day.

Yikes; keep that snow away from us east coasters. We are having a beautiful fall and are not ready for winter to hit.

The yoga Nidra training sounds lovely. I sleep so well after taking that class. Our Y doesn’t offer it anymore though.

Field trip with my preschoolers to the pumpkin farm to so lots of bumping up and down on a school bus. Somehow I always end up near the back.

Zumba instructor was sick so we did a step class tonight that kicked my butt. Already feeling it.

TT: Beautiful pictures! You and your dh look like you're 40, not 58!

Hi Everyone! I haven't been on since our Santa Fe trip. Had a FABULOUS time with my bc sisters! I'm sure all of you enjoyed Ruth's pictures she posted from our trip.

My dh's 98 year old aunt fall in September and broke 5 back ribs. She was hospitalized and then sent to a nursing home for rehab. She was doing ok but then developed pneumonia and then she fall again while trying to get out of bed by herself. A week and a half ago she suffered a massive stroke and never recovered. She passed away 5 days ago. She had been living by herself up until her fall, driving her car when needed. I hope I can stay as independent as long as she did.

I've been sick with the usual head thing I get this time of the year. Coughing, etc. Went to the doctor last Friday. Today has been better. Dh and I mowed the yard. I mowed for 90 minutes and also worked in the yard for 45 minutes. Unlike all the snow and cold that Ruth and Karen are having, today was 73 degrees and blue sky. My windows are opened as I'm typing this.

Hi Karen, I will be at the Sheraton Downtown Convention Center, meetings Thurs/Fri/Sat with travel days of Wed/Sun. I have only had one other opportunity to go to Denver, in Dec 2012, so looking forward to seeing more of the city in the bits and pieces I can carve out from the conference. I teach economics and public policy and this is a public policy analysis/management conference.

The last time I was in Denver, one of the locals said they judged the quality of their lives/jobs by how many days they were able to ski/hike/take your pick of activity...I liked that notion and as evidence of this idea, this otherwise not active conference is having personal trainers each morning with Thursday 5K run/walk, Friday HIIT, Saturday Yoga...I have signed up for each activity.

Have already lost most of the reunion weight I gained over the past week's trip and return from Denver to see my MO on Tuesday...determined not to be up, so need to pre-trip lose weight and attend these exercise sessions. My DH is attending as a tourist, I haven't told him yet that I am signed up for 6:30 a.m. fitness each day! TT

Good afternoon everyone! It's been a while since I checked in. Fall has been crazy!

Good to see all of you and read your updates! Great job to all of you!

I came on to read the newest article breastcancer.org posted last week about exercise and cancer. Very interesting. If you haven't read go check it out! I ran a 10k 2 wks ago and set a PR. I recently joined a women's running group in my town. I ran XC in high school so enjoyed running with a group and friends during those years but when I started back to running 15 yrs ago after our youngest son was born, I started back with the intention that this was my ME time and truly enjoyed my solo runs. DH likes to run with me at times. I have one friend that I ran with quite regularly when our sons that are now 24 were in jr high and HS sports together but we both got busy with life and she moved out of town and I have ran and trained for races with a few other gals over the years. But for the most part I run by myself and LOVE it!! So not sure what possessed me to sign up for the group 3 wks ago when I saw the Facebook ad but I did and love it!! We meet 2 days per week...one shorter midweek run and a long run Sat mornings. So tonight I will run 5-6 miles. I can still get a couple solo runs in during the week too so truly best of both worlds. Wish I would have signed up a few yrs ago!!

We had a step class in place of Zumba yesterday and I am really feeling it today. I guess that’s a message that it’s good to change it up every now and then.

Hi Runnermum, glad to hear about your successes.

I'm not doing so well myself. This afternoon I thought about biking after work but it was raining so I walked on the treadmill for 30 min before supper. I felt ok, but after putting my little DS to bed I stood and had a terrible spasm in my foot. I couldn't stand and tried to breathe through the cramp. I'm taking magnesium everyday as recommended and definitely hydrated. Tamoxifen is crushing me. So I had some flexerol in the med cabinet. Going to give that a shot. Two more years of Tam. Edj I may join you in quitting.

I am sorry Falconer! That stinks. I still struggle with achy joints but I can run thru it. Usually bothers me the most at night when I sit down and stop moving. Cramps are awful! And I had terrible ones while on Tamoxifen.

Cramps are the worst! Bananas can sometimes help, also tonic water (if all else fails, add gin to the tonic water!), or if you want to try something wacky, sleep with a bar of Dove soap under the sheet (yes, it sounds crazy to me also, but some people swear by it). Are your shoes getting a little worn, Falconer? That can make things worse too. (I just got new shoes, and hadn't realized how much I needed them until I exercised and my feet felt SO good.)

Runner, I am glad you have joined a running group. I think the camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts is an important part of the exercise equation. It sounds like the perfect addition to your solo running.

It turns out I know the relative of Runner's friend very well. How cool is that!

Brutally cold in Denver. Record low "high" temperature today! Currently single digits and below zero wind chill. We got about 9" snow today. 2 - 4 more over night! My school district did early release today. Middle and high schools let out around noon - my school let us go once all the kids were gone - left a little before 1:00pm. Got home and stayed home! My district is closed tomorrow as are most other metro Denver school districts. One only called a 2 hour delay! I can imagine how ticked off teachers/staff are and of course parents too!! Was too cold to walk this afternoon even with my snow pants!! Unless I pace around the family room, I won't get 10K today - and since its 11:20ish pm, I about ready to call it a night!!

    Sweet dreams

Falconer, I too awoke last night at nearly 1pm with a huge right calf cramp and had to get out of bed and stand. What kicked it so I could sleep, was lying in bed doing relaxation techniques to help lessen the hold. I've upped hydration, ect.. yet for me, I think it might be stress related (I'm not on any Al's). Runnersmum, great that you found your tribe and know many here in the local running club, and helpful when they run together with head lamps on the streets during these dark early evenings. It is cool that you and Ruth have many connections. Sig1324, welcome and yoga is magical.

Working later today, a few Pilates classes, and BodyBalance/flow. For now off to get this day going!

Record low this morning 3F degrees. Going to wait till it gets to 20 to walk!! Of course I'll need to bundle up with my snow pants. Snow is stopping. Also need to walk/pace in the house. Going to try to be productive today with the snow day - need to do a few things for work, then I want to tackle the furnish room. Way too much stuff in their - and probably much can go in the trash!!

    Have a great day.

Welcome Sig! My favorite yoga teacher is off to India for a Yoga Retreat. Coincidentally, a yoga teacher from India just moved here and will sub while my teacher is gone, which should be interesting!

Subbing today, and I'm not sure what tonight. If it's not to cold, I'd like to hook up with the grandpuppies.

Karen, do NOT send your snow our way!!!!

Ruth - I'll do my best to send anywhere but by you.

Well I went out to shovel the driveway at 7:30 - DH was just finishing up - so decided to go for a walk since I as all bundled up. Ears were cold, but otherwise I was nice and toasty. I love walking in the peaceful quiet snow. One neighbor scraping off his car commented to me - you are at it no matter what!!! Hope to get another walk mid day and maybe DH will join me.

    Time to get busy!!
