It seems like all the evil & simmering resentments that apparently have been there all along, have been let loose in the land. The high school football player who was shot in Loveland about a month ago (I think it was a carjacking) was the best friend of the son of a friend of mine. Violent, senseless deaths devastate not only a family, but a whole community. This isn't a political thread, but obviously some things have to change.......this can't be the new 'normal'.......

I walked with a friend this morning & will go to Barre and Zumba later this afternoon. DS & his fiance invited us to go to dinner with them at an Italian restaurant where I will undoubtedly gain back any calories expended during the day!

    Happy Valentines Day, dear friends!

The shootings are sickening, scary, terrifying, senseless. And happening every day. TT, I hope your yoga friend does what's best for her. Karen, hard to comprehend what happened in your district yesterday. What Ruth said, this can't be the new normal.

Cooked a special Valentine dinner for dd and dh. Dd's husband is taking a course that meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights for 6 weeks so we have been having weekly dinner dates with dd. Nice that this week's date fell on Valentine's Day.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my Friends! <3

Get rid of the boot after the week-end, but Podiatrist suggested going for walks first with the boot - that I can try. I'll be so happy to wear two shoes! Thursday will be 5 weeks in the boot so almost 5.5 weeks when I get rid of it and hope all is good with two shoes and walking. He said tennis shoes, so I asked how long, so he asked me to take off my boot and said they were "stiff" enough. I live in my Blundstones in the winter so I was thrilled. No bare feet, flip flops etc.

3-7" snow predicted for Denver with 18F before windchill - parts of the city are getting snow and it will be a messy morning commute - and by dinner time the snow will be done.

    Everyone stay warm

good news on the progress Karen, and how funny to hear you say you live in Blundstones...my walkaround chelsea boots that I have had for several winters are ready to leave service (I'll probably get the rest of this winter out of them but not longer, have already been resoled, etc)...last week I started looking for a replacement as they are no longer available and found Blundstones, they look perfect!

Off to Tai Chi at lunch, we are having a warm spell before temps fall to the floor on Friday. TT

Glad you can ditch the boot, Karen!

We had winds gusting to 56mph last night & it's still blowing like crazy today. Thank goodness we didn't get snow with the wind (which is what happened not to far to the east of us and all the way into Minnesota....100s of cars are still stranded on the interstate). Here's the Wednesday Walking Women picture for the week. Very glad for the indoor walking option!

TT - I have 3 pairs of Blundstones - 2 pair are 5 years old and still have life in them. My third pair is newer but I don't wear often as I''m "saving" them till one of the others are history.

Bitter cold this morning. WE got several inches of snow yesterday. Supposed to be warming up over the next few day.

    Have a great Thursday

Skipped yoga at lunch to take a walk...low 70's today, couldn't be inside! Got "normal" results from both mammogram and bone density...bi-rads 2, I guess is the best to get given all that has happened...and the dexa was "good for my age group" Yikes! I have been building bone density ever since the major hit the drugs took on me...so I will take "good for my age" TT

    Yea, TT!

Pound this morning, went out for a fun lunch with my future DIL at noon, and I'm going to sneak over for at least part of my Dance2fit class at 5:30 (my Book Club meets tonight so I will have to cut out a little early if I want to take a shower before Book Club.......and I DO want to take a shower!).

Karen: Just a few more days of the boot! Yea!

TT: Dd loves her Blundstones. They have nice styles and colors.

Ruth: Great WWW picture. Have fun at your Book Club.

Like TT, we are having warm weather in the low 70s. It's breezy also. But all that changes tomorrow with cold and rain arriving.

    Walked this afternoon.

We had a sub in Yoga yesterday & we did something I had never heard of before, Gravitational Yoga. It's a series of strengths, each which you hold for 2 to 5 minutes.......which is harder than it sounds. Today I will go to Flow Yoga & probably dance around the house some more

First day with two shoes. Went for a short walk - 20 minutes - and my foot is sore, but I don't think it is swollen. It is really now just the area around the second toe (top, bottom and the toe). The walk I did normally wouldn't take more than 15 minutes. It felt great to walk. I will take a couple walks tomorrow - but keep them to this distance. Anything longer will require the boot. Tomorrow morning, the plumber is supposed to come - time frame is 9am - 12noon. Our bathroom sink is clogged and even with a snake, DH could not get it unclogged. This plumber also does our main drain to make sure the old clay pipes don't break from tree branches as that is quite an expense to repair. A problem many, many houses in my neighborhood have to deal with.

Finally got my mother's china out of the cabinet - lots in bubble wrap and some in china containers. Going to wash it all and start using it. It's Mikasa - white with a silver ring around it. Quite plain yet classic.

Happy to have the long week-end.

Glad you are bootless, Karen! We just had a plumber at our house last week too. I love having and using things with a family history/connection......which would be most of my furniture, pictures, and some of my dishes. You will enjoy using your mom's china, both for the beauty and the connection.

Went to yoga last night...I was distracted the whole time...not what you are looking for in yoga! Woke up this morning with a sore ankle, like I twisted it, but don't remember doing so, so will take it slow and easy walking around today. We don't get the holiday off, so am at school. Happy Monday! TT

Zumba & snow shoveling for me this morning. We are in an 'active system'......which is bad, on Wednesday I am hoping to fly off to Florida to meet up with some old friends.

TT: Hope your ankle feels better tomorrow!

Ruth: If you can't make it to Florida, visit your sister. It's going to be in the lower 80s on Thursday.

Walked/ran this afternoon. Didn't need my sweatshirt, just a tee shirt.

Ruth - hope you make it to FL.

It was gorgeous in Denver today - low 60s and plenty of sun. I managed a walk during the work day. When I left work at 3:40 it was still nice out. When I got home about 30 minutes later I went for a walk and it was much colder and windy. Watching the news and it's now 43F, the wind picked up. 3-6" predicted for Denver. Even colder on Thursday with below zero Thursday morning. Snow will be off and all day - both morning and afternoon commute.

I have lab draw at 7:45 tomorrow morning so I'll get to work about an hour late. I usually greet and work with a student at 7:30 when she gets to school. Today was a professional development day, but this school had no school, so I was not able to let the kiddo know. I just emailed the team to see who can greet the student and let them know I'll be late. Sure hope someone reads email tonight or early tomorrow morning!

    Stay safe and stay warm

Looks like Thursday's weather will be very strange across the US depending on where you live. We will be breaking high temperatures on Thursday with temps getting into the lower 80s. The weatherpeople are going nuts talking about it. Like TT, our temp today was 72 and the same for tomorrow. Then on Saturday it's in the 40s and rainy.

I walked earlier today than I normally do. The wind was picking up throughout the day and I don't like to walk in windy weather.

Yikes, I hope all your tests come out okay, Karen.

We did make it to Florida, getting out just in the nick of time, as I think the whole state shut down behind us. It was a LONG travel day but all went well. We stopped and ate dinner the way back from airport, got settled in, and have been visiting the night away. Since we have been up since 3:30 am, we will sleep in but tomorrow I'll send some pictures of the walk on the beach that I will take no matter what else we do!

Two hour delay for school this morning due to severe weather. So I won't miss too much with my appointment this morning. Glad I scheduled the appointment for morning rather than afternoon. -10F or -23C now at 5:45am ( with windchill advisery) High will be 19F/-7C. 40s Friday and 50s by Saturday through Tuesday then cooling again and maybe more snow.

The hydration is protocol when calcium numbers increase. After looking at Dr. Google and my last labs, I'm thinking they are the same as the fall which were more specific calcium and tests related to parathyroid. High calcium is related to hyperparathyroid as well as kidney disease which I have both. Endocrinologist is watching parathyroid as numbers weren't too bad rather than surgery. It will be interesting to see what she decides now. I guess till she has more numbers. I get my next Prolia mid April - don't think I was to see her as well. Was stressed last night but as I read Dr. Google, I wasn't worried. Only change is higher calcium numbers. Still waiting on rest of labs from yesterday. They aren't posted on patient portal yet.

    Have a great Thursday

Karen: Glad Dr. Google was able to ease your mind. Hope all went well this morning for you.

Ruth: Great picture! Amazing that you're wearing shorts. Enjoy the sun and warmth.

No formal exercise today. Did a little shopping.

Brought my car to be serviced this morning. Had lunch with a friend. She ordered triple chocolate cheesecake which we shared. Now all I want is something sweet to eat.

    Walked/ran late this afternoon.

Walked on the beach this morning and then toured the 75 room mansion of the guy who started the tourism industry in Florida. One of the industrialists of the Gilded Age, Henry Flagler. Very opulent!

Love the pictures you've been sharing Ruth.

Wonder, I love chocolate but could not eat triple chocolate cheese cake - it would be too rich for me.

Can't remember what I wrote the other day so forgive me if I'm repeating myself. Hematologist is going to repeat labs on Monday before my appointment based on results last week with Calcium being too high. PTH was elevated but a little lower than 4 months ago. I'm curious what other labs were drawn on Thursday as there were 4 vials, but I think I have all my results in the patient portal. They are all over the place, but I'm sure some are not concerning. It seems like everything that is wonky is related to kidney disease and parathyroid disease which I have both. Not sure how to read the light chain (related to MGUS) scores so will wait till Monday when he tells me. Two of 3 are similar to last year, but one is elevated higher than before. It's always something. I hope that DH goes with me. He gets home late from a 6 day whirlwind trip in Italy with DD#2. We'll have to take 2 cars so I can go onto work as soon as appointment is done. We are only 4 miles from the clinic but work is in the other direction than home.

Gorgeous weather today. I went for 2 walks - I think the second one sent me over the edge and it was the shorter one - I think I pulled my hamstring on the side I had the stress fracture, but it felt so good to be outside. First real walks in 6 weeks. Sat in the back year a little too. Weather is supposed to be nice through Tuesday and Wednesday snow is in the forecast. We have had snow almost every Wednesday since the start of the year. But they say only a couple inches for Denver.

Going to bake Hamentashen tonight. I like baking them before Purim (which is March 6th at night and March 7th) so we are done once Purim is here. Making poppy seed, apricot and choc chip fillings. Need son to come by this week and get some as well as some of the cake in the freezer. He forgot when he came by last week to borrow DH's car while his tire was being fixed. I know DD#1 would love me to mail some, but I don't know if I want to hassle with the foreign mailing as well as the cost.

We went to a Botanical Garden and a Farmers Market, plus I got my beach walk in; it was a great day to be outside, 82 degrees with a nice breeze (Florida is usually too humid for me, but today it was perfect!).
