I am jealous of how crafty you are, Wonderland!

I did a pilates DVD & a cardio dance DVD. After that I went to a baby shower where I ate many delicious finger foods & cake! DS & fiance had a dinner date so we watched the first half of Glass Onion while babysitting the tiny puppy they are fostering. We will have to finish it later because now we are home & DH is watching some playoff football game!

Hello everyone and best wishes for 2023! Just finished catching up on the postings. Looks like everyone enjoyed the holidays.

Wonderland - You have such artistic talent!

Ruth - Bruno looks like he has such a wonderful spirit!

Bumping up exercise in an effort to help lower A1c of 6.0 (as tested in early Dec) and avoid prediabetes medication. Also, paring back on sugars, carbs, etc. Awaiting Feb MO visit for results of 12/22/22 Dexa. Wish they would post result online to "MyChart". Not sure why I have to wait to see a Dr for results since I could interpret them on my own.

We enjoyed Glass Onion. So amusing to see Daniel Craig in a role so different from 007.

Happy New Year, Celiac! I am logging all my food with my Fitbit ap in an attempt to shave off some pounds (you can regain calories through exercise, which I really like, plus it tells you how much protein, sodium etc. you've consumed which is good when you want to eat a more balanced diet. I have been terrible about what I'm eating and how much I've been eating too.

Yoga for me today. I will probably need to do some cardio so I can eat dinner! Ha!

Celiac: Good luck getting your A1c down. Sounds like you're on a good track to do it.

Getting things marked off my "things I need to do but not necessarily with a timeline" list. Feels good.

It rained yesterday so no formal exercise. Today I was able to walk/run. Weather looks favorable here until Thursday evening.

Brought a huge pile of old blankets and towels to our local animal shelter. Some were mine, some my dd's, and some from dh's aunt who passed away. Also brought a bag of clothes to be recycled. Good to get these items out of the house.

Ruth: I went to a place that sells small river rocks and picked up a couple. Going to paint one with a bear sunning in a small backyard pond and mail it to a friend later this month :)

Walked/ran in nice cool weather today.

That will be awesome, Wonderland, as all your artistic efforts are!

Here are the Wednesday Walking Women. We are dressed in purple to cheer on the Minnesota Vikings in their playoff game on Sunday.

    What a colorful picture, Ruth!

My exercise today was painting the river rock I got yesterday. It's a little bit bigger than my hand and the surface is very rough. Too longer to paint bc of the roughness. I painted it for a friend who is sick. Her backyard is nature's paradise including a pond and visits from bears. It's been awhile since I painted a fun bear.

I wish I had walked today. Hope to do it tomorrow bc it's supposed to be rainy by early evening.

    That bear is too cute!

We had thunderstorms last night...the weather is just so crazy.

Have built up to 5 days at the gym, yoga tonight...still working on getting up to 6 days. I have been adding in some of the classes that I had to drop in April(!) due to my knee injury...and I can feel it! ...but that is good. School starts up for me on Tuesday after the MLK holiday.

    Happy weekend! TT

    That's great, TT!

I burned calories this morning trying to stay warm while helping to load 1500 cases of Girl Scout cookies into troop leaders' cars, trailers, etc. It was outside in 36 degrees, cloudy, and breezy for 3 and one half hours. So Cold! My toes and especially fingers were freezing. Luckily there were 9 of us doing it which made it go quickly. Be sure to buy a box of cookies if you see Girl Scouts selling at stores!

Ruth, thanks for checking in on me. It's nice to be cared about. I don't remember the last time I posted. I do skim posts but don't read them all.

My foot started bothering my mid to late December when I was traveling and finally went to the doctor on Thursday - stress fracture. I absolutely hate the boot, and so bummed that no walking for at least 2 weeks. Walking is my stress reliever as well as being outside. It's not warm enough to sit outside and read.

Work is going well. Not too busy this month, but starting a maternity coverage end month, beginning February/end January through the rest of the year.

Winter, I was a cookie mom for 12 years - 6 years for each of my daughters. I don't eat them anymore but still buy for my kids - my girls can't them since they don't live in the states. When all the kids were home we bought 24 boxes and they lasted through the year. Now I buy 6 or 7 for the kids and donate 1 or 2 to hometown heroes. Waiting for a local girl scout to come by selling.

Everyone stay safe, warm and healthy.

So glad to hear from you, Karen! Bummer about the stress fracture. When you are an active person, it very frustrating not to be able to move!!

It was nice here today so we went for a dog walk. I feel like I'm starting a cold, so have loaded up on Vitamin C & Zicam.

Karen - Healing energies coming your way!

Did my normal Silver Sneakers classes today: Classic, Fusion (Barre, Pilates, Yoga combo) and Cardio. Just settling in to watch Bengals vs Ravens game. Go Bengals!

Karen: So glad you posted! You have been missed. Sorry about your stress fracture. I can only imagine this has been very difficult for you since you're so active and you love walking. It's unbelievable how much Girl Scout Cookie selling has changed. Girls can now seI ll and keep track of all their sales on their phone. It's crazy!

I have a runny nose and weepy eye (only one) so decided to stay inside today and not go for my walk. Hope to feel better tomorrow.

Snow day tomorrow!!! My school district sent a text at 6:31pm announcing snow day - most of the metro area is closed tomorrow. Forecast is for up to a foot or more snow for the Denver metro area. Heavy wet snow. So far we've only have about 2" (at my house) but it's supposed to snow all night and into tomorrow morning. Weather forecasters have not changed their predictions for snow except to increase the amount! If weather is bad Thursday, my district will go to remote learning and remote work :( Can sleep in tomorrow (if my body will do it) till 6 or 6:30. I'm generally up before 5am and that is after waking up once or twice during the night, often at 4 am then going back to sleep for a bit.

Don't send your weather this way, Karen!!

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women. Smaller group since our Snow Birds are south for the winter & quite a few he rest of us take shorter jaunts to warmer climes.

Official snow total for Denver - at DIA 9+ inches, downtown 6+ inches. Back to work today after a snow day. This was the biggest January snow storm in 31 years. January is often cold but not too much snow. The eastern plains got hammered and I-70 East of the city was closed down due to a major car wreck - 9 semis and 6 cars!!! At 6:00 am its 12F.

It should be fun navigating the sidewalks with the boot. I'm leaving early so I can get a spot in the parking garage across the street from our admin building where I will work today, since I'm not in a school till end of the month. I parked there Tuesday and it took me 15 minutes to find my car as I couldn't remember where I parked!!! It's a weird layout, so I think I was going in circles. Better pay closer attention today.

Ruth - how do you manage to always get someone to take your group photos? They are always so good. When do you leave for AZ?

Have a great Thursday. Stay safe and warm

Karen, if we are walking someplace where there are other people around, we force an innocent bystander to take the picture. I have a little fold-able tripod you can attach your phone to when we are walking outside & nobody else is around. I am happy to say that your storm went south of us, so we dodged that bullet.

We leave for Arizona tomorrow! I haven't packed a thing yet. I just threw in aAload of clothes & polished my fingernails. Once they're dry, I need to get organized. If all is in place by 5:30, I will go to Dance2fit. If not, oh well, I'm on vacation!

Safe travels Ruth! I was just wondering when your annual jaunt to Arizona would be Smile be safe, have fun, soak in the warmth!

We are in the first week of school, so no breaks for me until Spring Break the week of St Patrick's. Yesterday went to Tai Chi, today to a pilates/yoga fusion.

Didn't get home from school and after-school activities yesterday until almost 9pm, yikes dragging today...the Jewish Temple at the top of my street was under a suspicious package lock down...read this as the bomb squad from a neighboring town had to come and evaluate...so no entrance to the street I live on. All was okay, just a mis-delivered amazon package, but it always pulls me that both the Temple and the AME church have to hold services with a police car out front...ugh.TT

It's a sad, scary world right now, that is for sure.

It's going to be rather 'cool' in Arizona. I might have to bring what I'd consider to be a fall jacket, sweatshirts & jeans!

Karen: Stay safe walking with your boot. I'm sure it's not easy.

TT: With so much hatred in the world I bet the package really scared them.

    Ruth: Have fun in Arizona!

Meeting a friend tomorrow for our walk.
