I had a few days off due to work and fatigue but swam about 500 meters yesterday and went for a couple of walks with my camera. Managed over 5 miles on my fitbit. Today I jogged and walked on the treadmill for 40 mins with a new heart rate monitor I bought then lifted a few weights. So much for the heart rates the gym machines were scaring me with. My heart stayed in the zone. No crazy beats on my personal monitor which is good !! This afternoon I played golf with DH and ran out of steam a bit. Surprised just how much walking I do even with a cart. Fitbit thought I had walked 8 1/2 miles and climbed 34 floors today. It must be climbing in and out of those bunkers (and the cart) LOL!!

For all of you coming to California Dreaming II next year this is one of my absolutely favourite places and maybe you'd all like to come 'muddling' with me.........

Looks like a fun time for all of you Cheryl! Iyzzysmom, you sound active, fit and upbeat - great! Wonderland, enjoy the 5k walk. Mrs. & Mr. Odie, happy 15! TwoHobbies, if they had decent Mexican food over here, I'd be undoing quite a bit too.

Ran a sunny yet windy 6k run this morning.

hi mel, welcome back. Great pic, Cheryl. I'll take a mud bath over a mud run LOL. Today for fresh air and exercise, I'm going to plant bulbs then walk to the library. Easy supper tonight, scalloped potatoes (and carrots, parsnips and criminis) with ham steak.

Hi Wonderland, we row on the water unless conditions are bad. Then we use the Concept 2. It's funny, I have had a Concept 2 for years and used to use it faithfully, then we our kids grew up and moved out and we started spending a lot of time on our boat so I wasn't home to erg. I always wanted to row for real, and the cancer diagnosis is what pushed me to do it. I think that physically I am stronger than I have ever been in my life.
Curious, where in NC do you live? My daughter was in Charlotte for a few years and just recently bought a house near Lake Norman.
Have a great one ladies!

Today I wanted something lower impact before I settled down to veg out for the afternoon watching NASCAR and football (and eating) so did 65 mins. on an elliptical. It was enjoyable as there were some nice virtual trails to do.I was trying to go faster to get to see what was at the end of the last trail before the cool down finished! Just made it with seconds to spare. I will go out for a short walk before I go to bed too I think.

We had enough of a freeze last night to kill the tomatos so I pulled up my tomato plants, mowed the back yard and raked some leaves, then walked the dog. Next I cleaned two rooms of carpets and am doing two loads of laundry.
Are you sure they said all this exercise was good for us? I think its going to kill me!

Ruth, I loved seeing your pictures of Medora (Aug posts). I was there last summer, right before my MX! We had a great time, and yes,, you should get a job with the ND tourism board!0 -
I hope you got to the musical!

Teacher, hope you get the bp and svt issues sorted out soon.
Hit the exercise trail (known as vita Parcours here) in the woods with DD and DH. DD beat us in all timed events.
I'll need to get a lot of fresh air today before I get cooped up in a plane.

Wishing you et al safe travels HeidiHill.
Up and out early this morning for two classes, core conditioning and body step. Meeting up with friend in Canterbury tonight to hear Ruby Wax discuss her book Sane New World. DH said why don't you take your copy to have signed and replied, well, can't do that with an ebook.
Have a good start to the week everyone!

Back from the cabin. Eight mile run along the C & O Canal tow path Saturday morning. The tow path runs next to the remnants of the old C & O Canal that originally ran from DC up to Cumberland, Maryland, paralleling the Potomac River - a distance of 180 miles. The canal barges were towed by mules who walked on the path next to the canal - hence the name tow path. The canal was used to move goods until it was superseded by railroads which were much faster. The tow path has been preserved for its entire length, and is popular with bikers, walkers, and runners. We entered it at Williamsport, Maryland, at the 100 mile marker. Ruth - you would have loved the history around Williamsport - when George Washington was looking at sites for the new capital, he visited Williamsport and seriously considered it for the capital before they eventually decided on the site 100 miles downriver that would become Washington DC. The Potomac is very shallow at Williamsport and Confederate troops forded there to return to Virginia after their defeat at Gettysburg. Williamsport served as a large field hospital for Confederates wounded at Gettysburg.
Here's the view of the tow path - the Potomac is glinting in the sun to the right, and that ditch to the left is the remnants of the canal. It was beautiful!

As you can see, Fall was just getting started there. We're at a higher elevation at the cabin, so Fall was further along.
Here's a picture looking out of the front of the cabin:

and here's part of our driveway as it goes over the ridge of the mountain:

You can see why we spend as much time as possible there!
Lots of Yard Work & Sculpt at home yesterday - the realtor's photographer is scheduled to take the exterior shots of our house today. We won't be putting the house on the marking till mid-March, but the realtor wanted to get pictures while the pool was still open, the trees still had leaves, and the grass was green. He said winter pictures of houses just don't market as well, so it's better to get some good pictures now.

NatsFan - love the fall pictures. I wish we had a nice seasonal change, but north Texas is still in the 80s. In about a month we will have some chane and suddenly the leaves will be on the ground.
I walked a bit today but don't see cardio until Wednesday.

Rhody: I live about an hour from Charlotte. I've been going to Lake Norman since the 1960s and still have family there. Lots of swimming and boating in all those years. Let me know when you visit and we'll meet for lunch! Also, my cousins designed the Concept 2 erg and oars. They are awesome people and started their company out of a barn in Vermont. We are so proud of them! The daughter of one of them was a member of the US Olympic Biathlon team this year. They are all very athletic.
Nats: Love your pictures! I would want to stay at your cabin as much as possible also.
Hi All. Yesterday was the Crop Walk. Today I fast walked/ran at the park. So excited for our gorgeous fall weather!
