Claire-so sorry about your friend. I guess it is a good reminder to live life while we can.
Patoo- I hope your friend gets better.
Rhody- good to see you and glad you are feeling good!
I will check out the eagle links.
I got to run outside twice this week but now we are expecting snow again...

Today I walked and went shopping with my daughter. Hopefully back to the formal exercise next weeks. What a difference a week makes with the end of RADs.

Cheryl, happy belated birthday beauty! Claire, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and as Ginger said, a reminder to live life while we can. Patoo, I hope your friend can become strong enough and good luck with finishing up the packing. Mary, have fun at the cabin and like the new car. HeidiHill, I do understand and I'm trying to rally the family to a Dolomites excursion, sometime this year as your trip last year inspired me. Meljo, Vi Box (click this link) is a boxing, kicking class to music that really works up a sweat. Kudos done to everyone this past week posting exercise!
Yesterday morning, freestyle step and body balance Today may be having a day off due to studying or at least, a long walk with DH whom I'm trying to kick up the bum to be more active (other than golf).

I am so sorry about your friend, Claire. Those are such tough situations to even wrap ones mind around. Patoo, thinking of your friend too. One of my cousins was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She just got the pathology report back from surgery; and it is pretty disturbing. She has a long road of treatment ahead; but as I told her, YOU are not a statistic, and where she is right now (before starting the treatments) is on a long girlfriend's weekend in New York......so you know she is going in with a kick-butt attitude, which can't hurt.
Yes, we should be extremely grateful for any days that we have 'normal' problems and hassles!
Yesterday I subbed, had coffee with a teacher friend, met DH at a Chinese Restaurant (his idea), came home, went to bed at 7:30 and slept 12 hours......which I never do, I was fried!!!!! I will have makeup exercise to do today!

Catching up this morning with everyone and promising myself I'll go exercise. Voices, give me a kick. I've had a stressful week as now a second co-worker has given notice at work. I totally understand why as we had all three been looking, but its really sad to lose two great friends and stressful to face all that work alone. I am fully aware of Claire's seize the days mentality since my second round of cancer, so I spent a lot of time this week job hunting online rather than exercising this week, but now I do need some stress relief.
Ginger, thanks so much for the app suggestion and if I can remember my apple password, I'll download it today and start!
Welcome littleblue. Chemo totally kicked me down but I also saw the study Ruth had posted, so it looks like it would be a good idea to try to keep up some exercise if you can some days.
Claire so sorry for the loss of your friend, and Aurora I wish you a good trip with your family. I hope the love and support will be comforting to all.
Heidi congrats on the good scan!
Put me in the Mexican food and margarita club! Since cancer I have successfully given up pasta and bread. I rarely eat pizza, but I will never succeed at removing the corn tortilla from my life because that would mean no more tacos, enchiladas and tortilla chips! Chocolate and Mexican food are my last vices!

Lilac, Vi-box looks like a blast but I think I am too uncoordinated. I once took a Step class and was so embarrassed because I could not follow the 'steps' to save my life. That is why my exercise routine is so boring... walk/run/lift/stretch.

Claire, my condolences. I lost a dear friend to cancer in January. I got the news while sitting in my RO's office waiting for my RAD treatment. Most unsettling and emotional. She had just turned 40 :-(
Twohobbies, here is my trick when I can't get motivated to exercise because I'm too tired, or too sore, or too whatever. I tell myself that I'm just going to get on the treadmill for 10 minutes because anything is better than nothing. When the 10 minutes passes, I usually feel like maybe I should do 15. I mean, after all, I'm already there and I've already sweated up some workout clothes that need to be laundered now. Before I know it, I've knocked out 30 minutes or so just pushing myself to keep adding another 5 minutes at a time.
Yesterday I ran 3 miles (treadmill) and walked 2 miles (outside) pushing my dog in the jogging stroller.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend. DH and I going dancing tonight!

Claire, I'm sorry for your loss.
Patoo, I'm sorry about your friend as well. I got in three separate short walks yesterday and had almost 9000 steps. It was a good day for movement for me.

Claire, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. We lost my MIL last Nov to pancreatic cancer. It's been rough. I decided after I was diagnosed that I needed to take more time for myself and have more couple time with my DH. Who knows how long we have.
Lilac, that Vi Box class looks like fun. We have a punching bag but I never use it.
Yesterday I did 25 minutes on the rowing machine. This morning I ran/walked four miles on the treadmill. My DH wants me to run a 5k and a 10k with him. I'm slowly getting there. Running stinks

Picture of Kathy taken the day after my surgery 5+ years ago. I am so glad she got to enjoy her time in Seattle and not have to take care of me, other than driving me back from the hospital post surgery. I was able to walk the total of 3 miles to the rose garden and back to my place and show her the rose garden which was in its late summer bloom. - Claire

Beautiful picture!
Got back on track with an hour of spot toning with Denise Austin & 35 minutes on the treadmill.
TwoHobbies, everyone needs a few vices!!!! They keep us more vibrant and interesting! That is my theory and I'm sticking to it!

Two walks today for over 3 miles. Got my daughter to go on a short one with me, and then i walked instead of drove for an errand.

I was going to download the 5K app Ginger recommended, but no I couldn't remember my password so I ended up winging it and I did a run/walk today, running about 5 or 6 times in my 30 minute walk. I just counted approximately how long I ran to myself. It wasn't as hard as I expected. I haven't been running over the winter due to the snow and ice, but I did do some running and sprints last summer and fall and it always seemed so hard. I'm really happy it was easier today. Yeah!
Claire that is a beautiful picture. I can't think of anything more perfect than a sunny day looking at the water surrounded by beautiful flowers!
Ruth, life would indeed be dull without Mexican food and margaritas! I like your theory!

A short walk with daughters today.
The get together sounds awesome. I will definitely join next year.

Yesterday was cold but sunny here. Did 45 minute walk with my dog. I always feel like I owe her a big one on the weekend. Followed that with a 2-mile run at race pace. Cooled down with 15 minutes light lifting and Pilates. Thinking I might hit the gym today for a change of pace.

Did my 25 mile ride yesterday and caught up with my old cycling buddy Jim who is between jobs. Then took him to lunch using a gift certificate I had for the local pastry shop. Sandwiches were great and we split a gateau that tasted every bit as fabulous as it looked. One thing great was that the particular route I chose is much more fun than just a few years ago, as trail now where the going used to be rough, and I recently found a alternate route to the heavily trafficked area.
Thought this slide show from Prevention was interesting, and provides reason to stay moving. I can say that it was nice to do a long ride as opposed to a run. - Claire

hi all, been off the board all week. I must do a better job of posting daily. Mon worked at home and did 30 mins yoga on lunch break, Tues was date night (Mex & margaritas
, walked @ indoor track 30 mins each night Weds-Fri. Sunny & cold yesterday here too meljo LOL but walked my first 5k of the season. Found some folks I knew so we chatted and walked a moderate pace but that's all right. The Easter Bunny was there and it's fun to see little kids thinking he's real.
The afternoon sun got me out for a 30-min walk, then I settled in to watch basketball game.
Heidihill, yay for clear scans! You may have been joking but a pre-mammo warm-up stretch is a good idea.
Claire, sorry about your friend Kathy, lovely pic of her among roses in the sun.
patoo, moving is a PITA but it'll be worth it. Prayers for Phyllis A and Phyllis B.
Cheryl, happy belated B-Day! Glad you had fun in Vegas and came home up $35.
Mary, did you see the video of Eleanor Holmes Norton parking in DC? I like her but that was bad.
Posting 11 miles walked for the week and will BBL to post what I do today. ♥

I walked with my husband today for an hour despite the nasty weather. There is no sun today, wind gusting, and just escaped the drizzle. Oh and I forgot to mention, way too cold. I ran three times during my walk, which was not as many as yesterday but I didn't want to do too many considering we were doing a long walk. We were chilled to the bone, so I'm headed to a nice hot shower.

DH, DD and I walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch. We'd never been there before, so it was nice to both walk and try something new. It was about a mile and a quarter roundtrip, I think. It's still pretty warm here, though some fog was blowing in and I was glad I'd grabbed a hoodie on the way out the door.

Twohobbies, are you in WI? We had very same weather today.
I got my $6 worth at my Rec Center workout today--4 mile treadmill run, 20 minutes on the incline trainer, and 20 minutes on the circuit machines. Treated myself to some lovely pesto salmon on a bed of arugula and kale. Just filled my wine glass with malbec and headed to the tub for a soak.

1 hour between stat bike, treadmill and weight machines today. Should hear about home inspection results by Wednesday and hoping no major issues. Appraisal tomorrow but that should not be a problem so packing continuing.
Night sculpted friends.

Walked 30 mins @ indoor track. Would've walked outside but it was too windy. 'Night all.

I did a 45 min Firm Sculpting DVD. Hope everyone had a great weekend! I have been bad about working out for the last two weeks, but am looking at this as a new week and a new opportunity to get back on track. I want to be in the best shape I can be before my exchange surgery on April the 20th.

Catching up on all the posts. Claire, so sorry about your friend.
Well, I did it. I finally painted the last room in the house that needed painting! Started on it yesterday and finished it tonight. Doing the Happy Dance!

Patoo - we're on the same schedule. We had the inspection last week and the appraisal tomorrow. Inspection went fine - nothing we didn't anticipate, whew! Now just keeping fingers crossed on the appraisal.
Wonder - congrats on knocking off that last room. You must have arms of steel after painting your whole house!
We had a nice weekend at the cabin - cold with some snow showers, so perfect for taking a nap. And Saturday night we went out for Mexican and margaritas (of course). Got home Sunday and did a 4 mile run in the park. It was pretty slow, even by my standards, but I did it. AT one point I passed a small clearing, and there were two does just grazing. They're obviously used to joggers, as they barely gave me a glance, even though I was no more than 30 feet away. I felt a bit tight during the run, which is not surprising as I've gotten bad about doing flexibility stuff. I did a nice half hour session of yin yoga this morning to get back into that. I could certainly feel the month layoff - it was noticeable how much range I've lost in just that time.

I got some walking in to and from appointments today, for about 1.25 miles or so. I think maybe next week I might be ready to start up my couch to 5k program again. I finish rads this Wednesday (yay!) and will gauge my energy levels through the rest of the week. Walking is fine, so I think adding some easy jogging will be OK.
