ladyb- that is very do-able. Recover first and then do couch to 5k. I started it at the end of June and was able to run a 5k race at the end of August. I did the program every other day and walked on the off days.

SECOND CALL for some SUMMER FUN!

Five years ago patoo, hbcheryl, badger, and I decided that we would like to meet up in real time; so we planned a long weekend in Minneapolis, had a blast, and since then have made it an annual tradition. We have been delighted to joined by fellow adventurers (and local ladies from each spot) along the way....Chicago, Washington DC, and last year we toured the California coast from LA to San Francisco. It is now time to start organizing for this summer's fun. We really, truly hope that YOU will consider joining us! Here is a very rough sketch. If you have more questions or are 'in' send me or one of the other gals a PM.

    2015 BCO SUMMER ADVENTURE

Saturday June 13- ruthbru, patoo, sweetandspecial, hbcheryl, badger plan to be in San Diego by about noon. hbcheryl will be driving, and the rest of us flying in. We will stay downtown that night & Sunday night doing 'San Diego Tourist Things' ....what exactly that means is yet to be determined, but one of those days we would like to get together with 'The San Diego Ladies' for lunch or dinner. (If you live in the area, don't go to the BCO lunches, but want to meet up, let us know and we will work something out.)

    * Monday June 15 at 4pm we check into the Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort, where we have reserved two two bedroom suites. The resort has a restaurant, library, pool, game room, lounge & is right across from the pier and ocean beaches. It's near lots of neat restaurants in the town of Oceanside, the historic Mission San Luis Rey, a Surf Museum, shopping, and the Oceanside Pier Plaza Amphitheatre. It sounds like a beautiful place to spend some time. We will have plenty of room for you! As long as you are flexible (in attitude) and don't mind sharing accommodations with people you don't even know. Loopy We check out and head for home Friday June 19th. Badger's lovely mother has a time share with Wyndham and has offered to let us use her points for our rooms, so there will be no lodging cost for those nights (other than to chip in some money for a fabulous thank you gift!!!!!).

Some of the Southern California ladies who hope/plan to join us at various points during our time at Oceanside are NisaVilla, slowdeepbreaths, whippetmom, Kindergarten, CassieCat, LARock, 2ndtimearound and dazedandconfused. (If you are from California and want to meet up with us at Oceanside, let us know & we'll let you know more details as we get organized.)

These trips have really been extraordinary and wonderful experiences. We hope you will consider joining us if you can!

hi all and welcome littleblueflowers.  I started walking after BMX but before chemo, with a slow trip to the mailbox & back.  Set a goal to walk 500 miles, inspired by that song by The Proclaimers.  I built up strength over the years so can now walk far & long.  Have logged over 5,000 miles since I started keeping track (see my sig line).  Slow and steady is best, listen to your body and rest if chemo kicks your butt.

Second Ruth's invitation - fun fun fun!

Ended up with ten inches of snow so glad I had the option to telework.  Did 30 mins yoga on my lunch break.

Third Ruth's invite to all - you won't be disappointed (but make sure your middle can handle the deep belly laughs!)

Haven't posted much the last couple weeks but have been moving (and shovelling). No exercise tonight unless you count my fingers moving to put initials and signature on the contract that came in on my townhouse. Yay, Mary, joining you in the happy dance. Wasn't as lucky as you in going over but was within a few dollars of asking so I'm happy. Young couple, first home and looks very strong with large down payment and good IT jobs. Next couple weeks will tell as we get through attorney review, home/termite inspection and mortgage commitment.

    Night sculpted friends.

    Go Patoo!!!!

I feel lucky to be here. Coming back from the dentist, I was pulling onto I-90 when someone merging from the left in front of me did a 1.75 turn spin ending up facing left, not straight on. Miraculously, all five lanes of traffic stopped (including me and the person behind me) so all ended well. Still reeling from this one. Not one scratch on person or car.

Otherwise, the great news at the dentist is that all was covered by my new dental insurance!!!

Think that God must have been watching over me today. - Claire

Wow what an inspiring article! OK I made it once around the block today and took 4 flights of stairs to my surgeons office. Then a 3 hr nap. But...96 hrs ago they wanted to give me a transfusion so at least it's an improvement, right? Any suggestions for getting strength back faster?

Gosh Claire, I'm glad you are okay!!

Wow on the 74 year old body builder! Between watching her & 68 year old Suzanne Somers and her gorgeous legs killing her dance on Dancing With the Stars tonight, saying "I'm too old to (fill in the blank)" doesn't cut it!

Littleflower, in this case, I'm afraid that slow and steady is the best way to go. Boo hoo......but you don't want to have a setback and have to start all over!

Hi LittleBlueFlower! Glad you are here. My advice is one day at a time. Sounds like a cliche (it is) but it's true. Your strength will return.

Claire: So scary and so glad you and no one else was hurt!

Patoo: Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well!

    SlowDeepBreaths: Wow, just wow!

Unlike Badger's weather, we had gorgeous weather today. I fast walked/ran under a clear blue sky, a light breeze, and 65 degree temperature. It was awesome!

Love that story, slowdeepbreaths! How did you know I look like Ernestine? Winking

Claire, I'm so glad nothing happened.

Have been walking for exercise as I injured my right shoulder and arm during a mammogram. Mammogram and ultrasounds were clear but I have been in pain since. I see my doctor tomorrow so will know WTF happened and what to do about it.

Just to make sure everyone has a great day, I am posting a picture of us exercising in California last summer with the yummy Eduardo (worth the cost of the ticket right there!).

Whew, Claire - amazing that everyone was OK. Your heart must have been pounding. Patoo - congrats on the sale - hoping all the processes go well. Our buyer had the appraisal yesterday, with the inspector coming later this week. Keeping fingers crossed for both of us. And I know what you mean about having to sign all those papers!! LittleBlue - I can only echo what the others are saying - it takes time to get your strength back, and it gets very frustrating. But if you push too hard and try to come back too quickly, as others have said, you run the risk of a setback which will slow things down even more. Just stick with it and do a little bit at a time, and it will come back. Heidi - good news on the clear mammo, but yikes on the shoulder and arm. Hope it resolves quickly.

And yes, anyone who can - go on the Summer Adventure in California! I hosted the group in DC a few years ago, then met up with them in SF last year and had a wonderful time. It's an easy-going group - everyone gets along and the goal is FUN!

Trying to get back into an exercise routine after all the moving upheaval. I was going through the channel guide the other day and found that "Classical Stretch" that Pat from Rhode Island (who used to post here) always did, so I DVR'd some episodes and did the first one this morning. Wow - that was more of a workout than I thought. At one point she had us in a squat for what seemed like forever as we did arm work - my quads were burning by the end!!! I need to just keep doing at least something every day. Why is it so hard to get going again when you fall off the exercise bandwagon??? SickTired

Claire, glad everyone was OK. That sounds very, very scary. Patoo, congrats on the sale! I hope it all works out. Ruth, great photo. :) Heidi, hope things are feeling better today. Littleblue, take it one day at a time, and you'll get stronger day by day. Keep checking in here!

I got two walks in yesterday - one with DD and our dog and then one to my rads, so a total of about 2.6 miles, give or take. Almost 9000 steps for the day, which is the best I've had in weeks.

Ruth, love the pic. Looking good! I notice you managed a spot right next to Eduardo. Nice work Happy. The trip to CA sounds so fun!  I know I'm new here but wish I could make it to meet some of you amazing women. Unfortunately, I already have a bunch of stuff on my calendar that week... Vince Lombardi Cancer Run at the Milwaukee Zoo, Relay for Life, and my birthday Loopy. I will definitely consider it next year!

Claire - Thank God for guardian angels!

NatsFan - It is hard to get started again. Just start slow and build. Remember that anything you do is better than doing nothing, right?!

It is winter here in WI again. Boooo! Exercise yesterday was a chilly 1-mile run with my dog then a 3-mile run on my own.

Claire, that sure sounds scary! I'm glad no one was hurt.

Littleblue, I agree with everyone else. It just takes time to get your strength back. I pushed myself too hard right after finishing chemo last year and really paid for it.

I'm bummed that it's winter here again too. We didn't get a lot of snow but enough to cover the grass.

This morning I ran/walked 4 miles in an hour. This evening the family is going to see a Columbus Bluejackets hockey game.. We're in a Suite so it should be fun

    Meljo, it's a date.....Summer 2016!

I went to the funeral of the mother of a good friend this morning & have a meeting tonight, so I did the treadmill this afternoon and tried out the sculpting portion of a new FIRM DVD that I just got (dangerous curves ahead......pretty good). It is COLD here and the wind is blowing like crazy. Brrrrrr......

    My condolences Ruth!

I hit the gym at work today on my lunch (treadmill run and weightlifting).  Did 35 minutes of Pilates and stretching when I got home.  Long walk with my dog planned for this evening.  A good day...

Thanks all. Looks like I'm following Mary with the movement being packing/pushing/lifting/... boxes. Thought I had the lions share of packing done when staging the house but it seems someone came in while I was not looking and put lots of stuff in hidden spots. Where did all this 'stuff' come from. I am not a hoarder, far from it, so whose stuff is this and why am I packing it to take with me????

Going to unearth more. Night sculpted friends.

Mary and Patoo good luck with the moving. And Claire like everyone else said whew! that was a close one. Went to my livestrong class at the YMCA but both the instructors were out and we had a substitute so instead of the fitness class I did two sessions of aquatic aerobics and I loved it! I get so much more out of that since in the water my 206 bones 650 muscles and 50 billion of cells weight a lot less than out of the water lol.

Friday I'm leaving again to be with my family in Mexico to bring support and get support in our grieving for my father's death. I couldn't stay longer last time because I was running out of medicine and had an onco appointment so this time I'm spending two weeks instead of one to try and comfort my mom and giver her encouragement and for me to arrive at closure hopefully.

Keep the work outs going so that when I come back to Orlando I may join you again.

Aurora, I'm glad you will be able to go back to Mexico and not feel that you have to be rushed. I wish for your family a healing time of comfort and peace. And, okay, we will keep exercising just for you Winking

Meljo614 and GInger, thanks for the info on the 5K. I will definitely take it easy until I feel better. Still very sore from RADs

No formal exercise today but did a little laundry, and walked.

Patoo, congrats on selling your home!

LittleBlue - congrats on the walk and the steps! Patoo - you know all that decluttering I did this winter? I secretly came to your house and put it all there.Winking

Auroaya, I'm so glad you're getting back to your family and you all can spend more time with each other.

Did another Classical Stretch this morning - it's not an aerobic workout, but it's a good stretch and muscle-strengthening workout. It seems to be on public television stations every day here in the US if someone is looking for a good flexibility and strength program to get started, or to complement other exercise. I have a 10K race coming up at the end of April, so I need to get my butt out there and get running on a regular schedule again.

Freezing rain here this morning - I am SO over winter. DevilCan't believe Opening Day is in a week and a half on April 6th. It sure doesn't feel like baseball weather!

LOL, ruth. Maybe a relative. But these machines are torture devices from the middle ages for sure. I tensed up so much from the pain of my tiny boob being squished and I had to have my shoulder extended way back and my neck was straining so my face didn't get flattened by some other plate in front of me. Plus you're not supposed to breathe. My shoulder and arm felt slightly funny when it was done but it wasn't until the next day that the symptoms got much worse. Probably not a good sign. But at this point I don't know what good is. At least it was only one boob. I am scheduled for a CT in an hour and a half, so wish me luck.

Auroaya, glad you get to spend more time with your family in Mexico.
