So that's a mango tree? Huh! I live in a place where they are all over and I never saw one (that I know of). Wow. Gotta go out and buy me a mango. My mouth is watering.

I was focusing on little cherry like fruits.  Now that I know what it is, it is obvious.  I love mango, especially with Lime juice and Pico De Gallo seasoning on it.

Meece - that's really heart warming that you found love after an icky marriage (I did too), but after BC is really special.  I'm happy in my second marriage and I think the BC has made us stronger as a couple.

My longing question, though, is if there is a second CAREER after BC.  I really don't enjoy what I do, even though I make a very good living at it, but I went into this career as a single mother who needed to make money for her kid's college education (which neither one attended).  Now I'm 50 and don't know what I want to do when I grow up.  Is it too late?  I don't even know where to begin!  And the economic downturn has taken the dream of early retirement away.  The BC has me afraid of looking elsewhere b/c now I feel dependent on good health benefits. <sigh>  Has anyone else around my age taken the plunge into something more fulfilling?

RainCityGirl - my in-laws are in the Seattle area - Kenmore and Shelton.  We were out over Thanksgiving and got the snow!

theresap60 - when we first moved to the Seattle area, we lived in Kenmore!!  Shelton is quite nice.

I think you are wise to hold off on changes due to insurance and the economic downturn, but if you have energy left, could you begin to explore other options that make you happy?

I hope it isn't too late.  I quit me job last month.  happy to be out of there, but lost without and income.

Raincitygirl - yep, the energy level is pretty low, but I'd like to explore other options... somehow.  I don't know where to begin.  I remember as a young adult, I wanted to learn to ride horses, but I was afraid of the beasts!  I decided that the only way I'd become less afraid is to get down and work with the horses on their level, so I asked the riding academy if I could volunteer to help out cleaning the stalls or grooming the horses.  So I did that for awhile and became less afraid and more comfortable riding.  I think I need to do something like that -- just do it -- maybe not quit my job right now, but figure out what I might like to do.  I've suppressed hobbies and interests of mine for 20 years, so I don't even know what I enjoy doing anymore!! LOL  That's pretty bad.

Meece - are you looking for something else or just enjoying life?  My income is really the "roof over our heads" income, so I can't walk out, even though I'd love to do it.  We haven't had much luck with the lottery either. :-)

The other thing that bothers me is my lack of concentration/memory since BC.  It wasn't all that great before BC, but now it's really in the toilet.  I don't know if it's a side effect of tamoxifen or just chemo in general.  I've been done with chemo since May, which is when I started tamoxifen.

I need to look for something else. We will be stremlining our lifestyle if I don't find something soon.  I have to get to Hawaii in about 3 weeks so that makes it hard to get a job then have to take time off.

Im planning to go in May like I did last year.

i see my oncologist the end of February and after that i go online chasing a low fare.

Last year it cost me RT non stop Continental for $585.00 less $50.00 because I applied for Expedia credit card and got 50 credit on the first purchase.

I haven't even started looking for fares.  DH said he didn't think we could afford to have him go with me.  I feel sort of sad and non-motivated after that.

I'm home! I missed you all very much!

I have just gotten (finally!) caught up on the 10 pages that I missed while gone. Love all the postings & the pictures were great/lovely/funny.

I hope your Christmas was wonderful. I had a memory-making beautiful time with both DD's, their hubbies, & my two little grandchildren. The love & laughter was amazing & I felt so blessed to be in that moment. No storms to contend with, snow of course, but nothing like the east coast.

Hello to the first-time posters ~ mdg: holding good thoughts for clear nodes. I'm a fellow Michiganian, north of you. ~ {{congetta & Annette}} ~ msjag: hope your 2nd chemo tx went well. Hope I haven't missed anybody. A special hello to all who stopped by to say hello that have not been here in a while, you were missed.

Meecie ~ Congrats on finishing your quilt! I missed the picture - is it on another thread?

    grannyD ~ Missed you! {{hugs}} ♥

jo ~ Sorry for the funky day you had a while back, hope things are brighter now. ♥ The bed runner you completed is lovely. I love sewing, haven't done any in soooo long.

    Renee ~ {{gentle hugs, dear sister/friend}} ♥ {gentle healing as well} GO STATE !!  Wink

Penny ~ So happy you don't have to do chemo. I did Rads if you have any Q's.

Sheila ~ I have missed you!! ♥ It was so nice to do some baking with my DD2 & granddaughter. Messy, but those things clean up, right? I don't know how many times I hugged DD1. I even took a picture of the "grown" kids playing barbie dolls with dear granddaughter. The guys included!! Laughing  It was hilarious!!

Late evening Mass was beautiful as always; the choir of children was lovely. I have so much to be thankful for. Family & friends are all I need. ♥

    Hugs to all!

    Val

Deb, your story about Barbies reminded me of a wonderful time I spent with my 5 year old neice when her mother was getting amrried and too busy.  I sat in her room and played barbies with her for hours,  What a nice memory.

Val - Glad to see you back, missed seeing you here.  Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.  I am out of my funk - thank you for asking.  Seems I am having trouble dealing with the leftover rad fatigue and will ask my onc about it when I see him soon.  If I know it will linger for awhile, I can work around it.  May be a good excuse to go home and take a nap.  I love naps.

Meece - The quilt is beautiful.  I have started a new one.  Have the pieces cut out but it will be awhile before I finish it and can post the pic.  I want to do some hand quilting on it but may post pics in stages.

Meece - It is a 5 yard quilt.  You use 1 yard of 5 coordinating fabrics.  It is pretty simple but looks like fun.  I can email it to you.
