    I ended up as the teacher's assistant in sewing because the teacher couldn't keep me busy enough.

    Back to colonoscopies... had my second one yesterday... and I am 47.  Very easy test... the prep MUCH better than it was 6 years ago. I have had too many YOUNG friends die from colon cancer and the test is PAINLESS. If my insurance didn't pay for it, I would still have it.

    I totally agree with you about the colonoccopy. it was easy. I just wish that it was scheduled in the morning because i was starving.

    I have to have a colonoscopy in the near future.  I put it off because it does sound disgusting...from the nasty drink to the alien butt probe, all of it.  However, I am trying to focus on the words of a good friend (and someone here also wrote it) that it was the best SLEEP she ever had.  So, that part is very alluring.

    That is the only positive thing about having surgery, is you go to sleep and don't dream or rouse until it is over.  I just don't take anesthesia well, so worry about that aspect of it.

    bdavis - Welcome to the group.  This is a fun bunch - really supportive.

    Colonoscopy - been there - done that. Won't repeat anytime soon.  Told I don't have to do it again for 10 years - YEAH!

    Joni, a comment about frozen shoulder.  I had one three years ago and had six weeks of PT.  When I left the therapist told me to continue to do my exercises or "you'll be back."  So I (reluctantly) do.

    I don't know your diagnositic details but for me it hasn't been necessary to go back to the machines to have good results with keeping it supple.

    catbill, yes!  You have never traveled until you've had a trip up your own pink and cozy colon. Laughing  I'm plagued with curiousity to always want to watch. What a trip that was!

    For what it's worth my colonoscopy was fearfully painful.  More so than childbirth and the first time I've ever screamed in a medical situation.  A survey of many others proves that that is an anomally.  The physician thought perhaps he used the wrong-sized scope.  Most peculiar, Mama.

    So, while due for another one I am balking.  Pretty, young gynocologist says a virtual one is not an option because if they find something I'd have to have the real one anyway. And she added, "At your age we're bound to find something."  She looked so hopeful.  Heh.

    Once I work up the courage to submit to this I think I'll have to be put to sleep this time.

    hello sistas...guess what?????i lost count of the colonoscopys i had.2x a yr.for 5 yrs.that was 7 yrs ago.before that i had one every yr.i still have to go every year because of the many stomach issues i have.its the prep thats the real pain.once i get there and i go to sleep gosh its the best sleep i every get.they cannot wake me up...ha.

    having your colon checked is just as important as having a mamo.you dont have to like it you just have to show up.

    Anjanita-don't know if we've met before; Love your name-is it real?  I know, I do need to get back in to PT if only to refresh my brain on what the exercises are.

    The prep I had was called Halflyetly,  At 3pm I took the pill with water then at 6 drank half the prep then at 7am drank the rest.  It was alot better than the first colonoscopy I had in 06.  It was like drinking a gallon of brackish sea water made me gag.  They found a polyp then and they found another 5 years later, which was Monday.  I have to call tomorrow for the results.

    Please if you are 50 and over to get it done.  

    My aunt (mothers sister) died of colon cancer, she was in her 70's.  I have another aunt (not blood related) she is an eight year stage 3 colon cancer survivor.

    The Anja part of my name is real and a Scandinavianization of my middle name.  The nita part is for "little" as there are already an Anja and an Ani in the family and I am youngest.

     Halflyetly.  Hmm.  Now there's a funny name for a laxative.  Do I have to fly yet?

    Hi Ladies - starting to get plugged in on different forums now that I'M DONE W/RADIATION TODAY!! woohoo!  Can u tell i'm excited?  I see my onc Friday to do blood work/determine anti-hormonal treatment and get referrals for my follow up mammo & mri.  My CT scan for my sim showed an enlarged heart so I'm concerned about SE's of AI's and such.  Haven't had a period since July and have been getting hot flashes since - at least my migraines are gone!  When did you ladies start coloring your hair (if you lost it during chemo)?

    I dyed my hair 3 months PFC. It was about a half inch long. I did ask my onc and she said no problem.

    Welcome, marriedblis, and congratulations on your milestone today! I waited several years, and only colored it because Dh wanted to see what it would look like.  I stop coloring two years ago and like not having to do touch ups.

    marriedblis, now that you mention it, I've had almost no migraines in this past year, since going on Tamox.  I always thought it was the hormones causing them!!!

    marriedblis: I'm not one of the ones who can post wonderful pictures willy-nilly so just imagine that I am bowing & handing you a bouquet & gold ribbon for completeing your rads treatment today!  I finished on a Friday the 13th--it was one of the best days of my life!

    I probably already posted this before, but the tall bouquet in the back was my wedding bouquet.  We put it in a vase during the reception.  It is now in a sconce in my livingroom.  Dried and not so brilliant, but a lovely memory.
