I want to do the Alaskan Cruise also.  It's next on my list of big trips.  I also get seasick, but usually Bonine works pretty well.  May check out the patch next time, that worked great for my surgery. Usually get sick with anesthesia too but didn't this last time when they gave me a Scopolamine patch.  I'm like you though Sherry, I'll have to get these medical bills paid off before we can afford any vacations.

Wow I had not heard that about the ship capsizing... geesh what will happen next! I have always wanted to go on a cruise as well, but that definitely makes you have second thoughts.  I do love to fly anywhere though, but as many of you know I too have medical bills, have been sick and have been without a job for 5 months, so that is not happening any time soon.  Hope you all have a great Monday.  I have my Rad Onco appt at 10 uggh!! See you later.

Mimi-good luck for your appt. today and sorry to hear about your financial troubles.  Hope 2012 brings you better luck and abundance.

Wow! that ship capsizing was incredible.  What could that captain have been thinking!! He probably went that route multiple times, so he should have known the depths.  My husband is a sailor and is always concerned about depth in his little boat.  Definitely like the Titanic disaster, but at least these people were right off the coast, and I mean right off the coast!  Could not believe how close.  We still will be cruising after this, though.  We've done two cruises-one Caribbean (Puerto Rico to St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua) and one Adriatic to Greece and Turkey from Venice.  There is no better vacation than allowing the ship to take you everywhere while you have the time of your life.  Plus you only have to unpack once!

Hope this is a wake up call, like the issues that the airlines have had to deal with.

Hey ladies! I returned from the dreaded Rad Onco visit.  I wish I knew why I dread this one doc so much? Every time I go to see him my b/p is up... today it was 130/92!! Yikes!!! It's never up when I go see any of my other docs?? Undecided Oh well, he did get my blood work and CT scan report of my abdomen from my visit to the hospital with my stomach problem back in December.  Remember I told you ladies my Primary doc discharged me told me all my scans and labs were o.k;. she put me on Omeprazole, said she thought I had an ulcer, didn't know why I was having diarrhea, and sent me home.  Well my scan showed I had and enlarged spleen (which was probably due to a virus), I have fatty deposits on my liver (which after research I think was caused by the year I took Tamoxifen, it is a side effect of it), and I had a Kidney Stone (guess I've passed it now).  Also, my iron levels were low.

Anyway, my Rad Onco redrew some labs to check and see if I possibly have a Vit B12 or folate deficiency and the CA-27.  I also talked to him about the night sweats and sudden appearance of occassional hot flashes that I'm having at night(which are causing me not to sleep) and he is going to try giving me Effexor. Whoopee!!! another pill to take... but geesh I can't keep not sleeping because I'm waking up drenched.  My hair will be soaking wet and then I get hot and throw the covers off then get cold and cover up.  This goes on all night!!! What's so funny is during the day I sit covered up with a blanket and have clothes on and socks.  LOL!! I can go to bed and my feet and hands will be ice cold but within 2 hrs or so I am soaked around my head and chest area.  This just sucks.  When I first started taking this medication I was fine on it.  No side effects till the 6 month mark.  Gosh how I want to stop taking it.  My hair has thinned to right in the top front, the rest of it is still pretty thick.  It doesn't come out much anymore, much of it came out with the Tamoxifen.  I'm just like you can't win for losing.

Anyway the results of my labs should be in by Friday and if my B12 is low I guess i get to get B12 injections who knows it might give me some energy. :)

granny:  Yourr friend is probably thinking she is pretty lucky about now!  Looks like that captain was an accident just looking for a place to happen.  I can only imagine what the terror level must have been when it started tipping over.

Sorry about your GD's MIL.  I think we have to make the most of every moment!

Mimi:  Good luck on your tests!  I'm waiting on some as well and it's stressful.

    HI SISTERS...HUGS...♥♥

As my insurance will be changing i'm trying to schedule my appointments before FEB 1.

I have a question and I know we discussed this here and on other threads.......please refresh my memory...............After 2 years or more how often you see your Oncologist.......he was still seeing me every 4 months i don't know why..............i believe the new one will see me less often.

my primary also saw me every 3 months for maintenance visit BP and Cholesterol.

It's very unusual to be seen that often since all my BW is fine for years now so my BP.

The new DR which i didn't meet yet probably he will say once a year annual check up.

Am I wrong?   I need your opinions please.

    Thanks

shelia888:  Before I was dx with bc, it was hard to get my PCP to see me once a year!  Fortunately I still got my mammos and got my early dx.  Now that I'm dx, I've been to more doctor app'ts than I have in my entire life!  I don't know what the protocol is, but I know that Medicare does not pay for a yearly check-up...you have to be sick...so I always go when I have a symptom.

Sheila - My MO just told me every 4 months for the first two years.  Every six months for the next two and then once a year.

Sheila-i have only seen MO's in the beginning right after diagnosis.  Now I just go to the BS every six months and RO it seems every 3-4 months.  I don't need hormonal therapy due to my triple negative satus and my tumor was too small for chemo.  If I have a question for her, they get her right away though, which is great.

Sheila - Just 17 months out from dx and I am seeing my MO every 6 months.  No more Rad Onc or BS.  I have been seeing my primary doc every 3 months for the same maintenance as you - been doing this for many years now.  My primary doc is smart - he only writes my RXs for 90 days at at time so I have to go back.  Especially now that I have been dx'd with BC.

Jo....I see BS once a year not that it's needed but I like him as a person.

My DD says >Mom change is good sometimes<

thank You all my sisters maybe i'm well overdue for excessive visits.

We'll see what happens next month.

The rest of my DR's are remaining the same.

    Hugs

Hawk...i was told the same schedule but he never changed it.

Once a year will be enough but i woudnt mind every 6 months.

Susan,,,The beginning everything was too often especially being on Herceptin had to go through more blood work.

Sheila my MO said every three months for the first two years then every 6 months for the next 3 years then yearly after that.

Mimi if your B12 is low you might want to look into a B12 prescription called Metanx.  It is expensive but works really well.  DH had really low B12 last year and was causing problems with his nerves he now has it off the charts high which is OK because you cannot be too high with B12 like some other vitamins. His nerves have gotten much better but he still has neuropathy not sure if it will ever be cured with the damage but much better.

Sheila ~ For the first 2 years I saw my MO every 3-4 months.

    Years 3-5 every 6 months.

    Once a year thereafter.

MO does all my bloodwork & CA 27.29

I don't see my BS anymore but I didn't have a MX either.

See Primary only for cholesterol/triglycerides & of course, my OB-GYN for pap/mamm/bone density.

Just checking in -- it's late -- I have been working on a project for 3 days straight at home, so not on the DB.  Supposed to go back to work tomorrow but it is cold and rainy and I do not want to risk getting sick.
I have a lot to catch up on.....see y'all tomorrow, my friends!

Sheila I see my Med Onc every 6 months and my Radiation Onc every 6 months and my Breast Surgeon every year ( he told me I would see him yearly for 10 yrs - not sure why) and PS about every 6 months... He may release me soon unless he does more work and i think he's gonna do a little nip tuck.  LOL!! My primary I see yearly for med refills and blood work.  I also see my GYN yearly for pap (not sure why since I had a total hysterectomy almost 10 yrs ago and have not parts not even a cervix).  Oh well I think I see too many doctors, but I'm sure they don't.
