Hi all,
Wow I was expecting a lot more pages to read through while I was away....but I managed to catch up with you all.
Welcome to our new friends here. I just want you to know that if you are newly diagnosed and Stage 1, you should most likely be able to look forward to a time when BC is not the first thing you think of each day.
Granny, Sheila, and others nearby, would love to see you in September. To start off, my only days are Saturday, Sunday, and probably Friday. Work starts for me 8/20 but Fridays are flexible.
Sheila, I did not get all your pix coming through, but will check FB. What I see is the most beautiful bride and happy groom in the prettiest place on earth. What a blessing....you have a beautiful family! Welcome back and congratulations on this happy happy occasion! Life is good.
I've been away for two whole weeks - longest ever - on a 12 day safari in Tanzania - farthest trip ever. I did not post - don't like to announce when I'm going away - but I do have a blog with some pix - I only posted 4 days out of 12 so I have a lot of catching up to do. It was an exhausting but wonderful trip....up at 5:30 each day and traveling by 4WD on rutted dirt roads for 10+ hours a day. I'll post the link later when I remember it.
Slept 12 hours straight when I got in the door yesterday....and am catching up on Olympics reruns on cable tvI am so grateful for my health this year....
I am thinking of each and every one of you who has had tests and surgery recently....sending healing thoughts your way.
Some days, even though I have been able to work hard and travel,I still battle the emotional monster. We have to keep looking ahead to better health and well being.
Hugs,Joan

The summer I am doing rads so no vacation. Next summer, I really want a vacation. I hope what everyone is saying is correct. Maybe by then my thoughts won't be on cancer as much. I am hoping so!

Just touching base to say hello...I'm off on another adventure...back to the Highlands for none other than a "cocktail party" which I promised myself when I retired that I would never do again...so much for that promise:( It's a favor to a friend only. I hate the chit chat and this one will be particularly booooring with pretentious people all trying to upstage each other. I'll just sit back and enjoy the show...lol!
Glad everyone is back on the thread! Back soon!

My first post here. Joan811, I love the lion picture. Was born and raised in Africa, and lived there for many years. On my bucket list I have visits to both Tanzania and Kenia, but don't know when I will be able to do that. Africa is calling me . . .

liefie - I've never been but it's on my bucket list as well. I have friends that have gone twice. Totally jealous.

Welcome Liefie. So sorry you have to be here but this is a great group of women.

Hi, liefie, a lot.of us have numerous boards we.keep track of.

Welcome lifie. I hope you can find support here and answers to your questions. I do hope that you can return to Africa - it is a special place with very special people.
Sherryc, it's been a long road for you. Best wishes for the exchange and your complete healing.
pt - how's the healing coming along? I hope things are progressing for you. It always amazes me how BC ladies deal with the rest of life while coping with BC. Sometimes life just piles it on.
Belinda, for the first time in my life, I feel the need to plan - I like having things to which I can look ahead. Go ahead, plan a trip....it will be here before you know it! Good luck with rads. Rads can be exhausting, but the time does go pretty quickly.
hawk, did you get your test results? hope all is well.

Good evening gals!
About 10 days ago I found a lump in the same breast that I had the partial mastectomy done on last October...Waited a few days, because I didn't want to 'cry wolf'... Anyway a couple of days ago, I called my PCP and he had me come in the next day (yesterday). He found the lump w/o me having to tell him where it is... He immediately had his nurse contact our local hospital for a diagnostic mammogram, done this morning. Tech sent it immediately to the radiologist in Lincoln. Rad. said she could not see anything there, but ordered an ultrasound to be done, because sometimes a US will detect something the Mammo doesn't.
Anyway, to shorten the story, the US tech found a pretty good sized seroma in the breast, and thinks that possibly it might be putting pressure on the tissues causing it to feel like a lump. However, I am waiting for the report from the radiologist. I am wondering, why a seroma would show up now (10 months since surgery)? Have any of you had this experience?
Would be interested in hearing your experiences, did they leave it alone to be re-absorbed in your system, did they aspirate it or put a drain in....how was it treated..

Good to be back ladies! Had a nice time in the Highlands...the weather was beautiful and I met some nice people. I then went to Greenville for a few days to visit a friend down there. Next week I'm going to Myrtle Beach and then to Charleston. Should be fun!
I have a lot of catching up to do reading all the posts!

vicks i am eleven months post op. i have a large seroma about the size of a roma tomato. i have had aspirated five times. the surgeon wants to send me to a breast center for evaluation the radiologist said something should be done because he cannot get a clear view of what is underneath. my mo said please consider this very carefully because your decision could make it worse. repeated aspirations can cause infection or further inflammation, surgurgy can can make seroma worse. scelotherapy can cause scarring and intense pain. i said what do i do? he said he hopes that i decide to live with it, use warm compresses, an athletic bra and have an MRI yearly rather than mammogram which hurts with a large seroma. i may see what the breast center says, but his advice is really making me think. good luck. PM me if you want talk moe.

Well hi all - I haven't been on in awhile.
Sheila: that was such a beautiful picture of your daughter and SIL. I wanted a destination wedding long ago but my dad made me walk the aisle with 300 people. sounds like you enjoyed the time.
Sherry: GOOD LUCK
now on to my mom, it has been a tough ride - really tough. She had many problems with the drain, took it out, got aspirated 4 times then put the drain back in. so thats good now. Then we did go to the Lake as we planned, big mistake. She left after 2 days and major tears rolling. Her back is worse than anything going on right now and all they are doing is putting her on vicodin and oxycontin. They said they need to wait to hear the plan for the cancer treatment as "that will change everything". Well she got her onctotype score th is week which was 27 and they let her chose whether she wanted chemo or not and she chose it. 4 times over 12 weeks, no radiation. She went today and picked out scarves and a wig but she is just still upset over her back more than anything.
Well i am going to the chemo link next to look for tips- any from all of you are appreciated as well!
Prayers and hugs! Carey
