I am a little of 2 months post lumpectomy. Had complications with the incision healing...does anyone ever have any stabbing pains? Just lasting a second but come back a few times a day? Not bad pain. I am thinking it's the nerves coming back to life since I am almost healed. No signs of infection either. Thanks.
PS -- I am the only one who sometimes wishes I could close my eyes and all of this would go away? UGH. Just tired of thinking about it! Yes, I should not be on the boards but I find comfort with you guys knowing how it feels to be in my place.

Belinda, I had the stabbing pains also. I'm pretty sure it's bruised nerves - or regenerating nerves. I know what you mean about wanting to forget all about it. I spent months reading about nothing but BC. Didn't make me much of a conversationalist since I only told a few people. It's getting better and I'm back to reading my book club books.

Belinda, this is a good place to come. Here we find friends who share our concerns,wrries. pains and our unique joys. And we find places to have fun too.
Yes,I had the pains but they gradually go away. And I am two years post surgery and I still wonder sometimes if it is just a nightmare and wish it would all go away, but not as often as I used to. At least it does get better.

I too get stabbing pains once in a while.like OUCH and then gone.....finished the rads 1 1/2 yrs.ago.im a slow healer....yeah it does get better....

Hi all. I've been more or less lurking here all year and posting in other threads mostly, but I've been following your posts regularly. You are such a supportive group! Just had my second mamm since finishing tx. I have a seroma at my incision site. RO informed me that it could take 2 years to absorb. At least it causes me no pain so I guess I can live with that. Other than that, everything looked good. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

I am another person who can add my name to the list of 'sharp pains in the breast' club. My RO said is is because of the damaged nerves repairing themselves. I am 9 months post surgical (8 mo post rad) and on the rare occasion I still get a stab.
My left breast has shrunk quite a bit, more than 1 cup smaller than my right one. I tell my husband & daughter, that I am "lop sided hanna'. That is by far better than no breast and being CANCER FREE!!!!!!!!
Have been VERY PLEASED with the care i have received from my different physicians!!!

I am 8 years out and still have stabbing pains occasionally, but have have two recons so far, and they are probably related to that. Had a mammo and MRI on Monday and haven't heard a thing, that should be good news. If they found anything I am sure they would have called. It appears that the bx I had removed all of the area of concern.

Belinda, we all would like to close our eyes and make it all go away. Eventually it doesn't direct EVERY aspect of our lives, but if we turned a blind eye to it, we could get blindsided again. I for one, will not let that happen .

It seems the longer the days, the more time I spend outdoors. With Dad in the hospital, I spent my spare hours there. I look forward to life slowing down some so I can keep up here.

I also get stabbing pains....and no rads or chemo...just a mastectomy with SND. The pain is usually right under my phantom boob....but sometimes in my lower rib cage side.

Meece, you are so right about turning a blind eye to it....because that's what I did. I lost 50 pounds and was exercising. I was 44 and had clear mammo's in the past and no family history. I was 1.5 years late on my mammogram AND I should have felt the mass. Maybe this is why it is in my every thought....I never thought about until you said it. Because I did have a blind eye to it. So, maybe I am not "letting" my brain stop thinking about it. I think you have helped me!!!

Hi ladies. Am gonna jump in this pool
. I have had a whirlwind 3 weeks since dx after 1st abnormal mamm ever. No family hist etc. a real blindside. Had lumectomy and got path reports friday. Now the wait for Onco test to see about chemo before rads. I have medium grade and 100% ER with 30% PR. Grade 2... So am worried ill be in gray area with decisions to make. First appt with MO to discuss results in few weeks. So in the dreaded wait and see mode. I am stage 1. For that i am thankful as well as this forum to meet all of you! ~Aruba0 -

You and I have a similar diagnosis. I pressed for an onco, which turned out to be on the low side...no chemo....radiation and Letrozole....fingers crossed.0 -

I too got the stabbing pains but at 7 month out from surgery, I rarely get them.
I am waiting for my uterine biopsy results. I should get the results today I am hoping ... Dislike the waiting.

hawk - Was away for the weekend and had such a fun time I wasn't even thinking about tests and results. Nice surprise to get home and see that my doc emailed me the "nothing worrisome" MRI report. The strange area that lit up on the last study wasn't there this time so recommended to continue follow-ups on the lumps with ultrasound, but since nothing abnormal now being seen on the MRI no need to schedule another one right now. Hope yours is good news as well!
Belinda977 - Sorry you're having pain. It definitely hasn't been smooth sailing for me since BMX, but I'm so grateful pain hasn't been an issue for me. But, you are definitely NOT alone in regards to wishing it would all go away. At the beginning my DH and I had a little ritual.....I would say, "I don't want to do this" and his response would always be, "But you have to - just take it one step at a time" and it would always make me smile. It has gotten so much easier and I hope it will for you too
