I can't relate to your situation, I am so sorry. What a scary ordeal. I worry all the time too about a reoccurrence. I've finally come to the conclusion....whether or not my cancer comes back only god knows. I can't waist my time waiting but spend my time loving my kids and family. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone. Live your life and just live in the now.

Hi everyone! Hope all is well. Since I've gone on days I've little time for the boards much and I do apologize. I usually come in, spend a little time on FB, cook, watch a little tv and drop into bed by 9p.m. Many evenings I simply don't even get home till 6:30. It typically stinks royally. I thought when I left my D.O.N. job I'd left all the extra hours behind me. I am such an OCD person about not leaving things undone before I leave for the day. I just can't dump my work on others, which can get me into trouble for overtime. I work the hardest hall in the building, I run from the time I get there till I leave. I don't gett "potty" breaks or any other breaks. I complain to my husband and others about it, but I don't leave. So, I guess I love it. I do hate getting my butt chewed for things that are beyond my control. It really stinks. Oh well. It seems with these people it's know all and see all and we are suppose to do all. Make no mistakes and not be a human being. We are robots who can go on and on and on.
I didn't make my follow up with my plastic surgeon they needed to reschedule so I go in 2 weeks, but all is good. Still taking my Tamoxifen, but I can't wait for another year and a half to pass. I'm so tired of taking pills. Yuck!!
To all of you going through anything I hope and pray for only good things to come your way and may God sending healing touches your way.
Welcome back Granny and Va... Love ya'll

hello stage 1ers
my diagnosis was determined in april 2013. Decided to do a double and so glad i did. I had small tumor left side 1Cm and very early cancer cells right side.. that scared me more as it was a different cancer but very early. Just finished my third chemo Monday. I live in Michigan and not back to work yet. anyone in the Detroit area going thru the same thing that want to connect?
I am also headed towards Armidex for 5 years..Anyone taking that and what kind of side effects are you having? There are so many different pills I wonder why they pick that over another?
I am still working out, eating pretty healthy, and staying positive but such a long journey and lots of alone time

Welcome, NLM.

welcom NLM, these are great boards to help us through everything facing us. I started arimidex the first of May, I cant begin to tell you how scared and worried I was about taking this.. but so far not too bad. No side effects at first but the last 2 weeks I think the fatique has set in, not every day but when it hits it hits hard, just knocks me down for the whole day! But I also tend to overdue, I just go too much and hard and guess my body tells me to slow up, am hoping this doesnt last. But 5 years taking a drug is a long time and sure hope it does what they say it will. Good luck to you!

Really dumb question. Can I ever consider myself "cured"? It seems I was very lucky as far as BC goes. My mind tells me "not now" since I have 3/5 years on antihormonals left, and if I'm cured why am I taking it? I did lumpectomy and radiation. I should ask my MO but I've had way too many Dr. appts lately. I'm sorry to have jumped right in!

Hi bedo, not a dumb question at all, i had the same dx as you, i feel we had early stage breast cancer with a good prognosis, BUT we did have cancer, it was removed and now were are on medication to reduce the risk of the cancer returning. I am positive most of the time and try to get on with living and enjoying life, but once in a while this little monster creeps in, i have to say it it scares me, i just want to be as i was before, i was at work the other night, came across some paperwork i had written about a year before dx, i had to re ~ read it, this was the old me, hard to remember what the old me was like, i certainly had more confidence in every way .
Not sure about this consider ourselves cured.....we could very well be cured, but we will never know no one rearly knows, i hope to be a little old lady, putting in my rollers at night as i see lots of them at work, oooh how i would love that, we can only hope, remain vigilant to bodily changes and be here for each other, kaza xx

At my first visit with my RO he was very clear with me that breast cancer is a cancer that is not considered curable however we can live in remission and never have to deal with it again. The reason it is consider not currable is that it always has a chance of returning. I really struggled with that in the beginning. But I have been NED for almost three years and I really don't think much about breast cancer any more.

chattipatti - Your post made me picture us all marching together - some days marching off to war and hopefully some days marching in a crazy Mardis Gras parade. Here's to more of the latter than the former!!!

Just stopping by to say hi to all my stage 1 sisters......group hugs xx0 -
Hello to you kaza. Not many postings on this board. I know there are a lot of stage 1 sisters out there but they post on many other different boards. Hugs back to you.0 -
Hi Kaza........sbab49 is right when she said there are a lot of Stage I sisters out there and many of us are on other boards. I follow a few that interest me but none of the on a regular basis. I often wonder if other sisters read the individual Dx & Tx each of us has had for our BC journey. Some so similiar and yet so different. I always tell people that BC is not all the same, that there are many different combinations. I looked at yours and questioned why you had Lymph Node removal if no sentinal nodes in the breast were involved.
Best of luck to you & hugs across the big pond.

I spent quite a bit of time on this topic when I first found BCO. It is a good place to get started. As time goes on you will find topics directly related to your problems and interests. If you have radiation there usually is a topic for the month you start, if not--start one. Same for the different types of chemo. If you are most comfortable talking to women in your own age group there ore topics for that.
Some hobby groups even have their own topics. One of my favorites is "What's For Dinner." We trade menus, recipes and talk about our families, diagnosis, treatments and problems. We even have two husbands who are the family cooks with wives in treatment. I hope you will find a home amoung us and many loving, supportive friends.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, xx0 -
NormaJean, it is funny how people who have never dealt with BC first hand think it is all the same. Just on this page there are 6 women and 4 variants of IDC.0 -
Been while since I have been here all is good with me. Will have to check out the What's for dinner thread I love new recipes0 -
So good to see you back, Sherry.0 -
