It is really happy to return to this  forum  after a gap of almost 11 months. It was not possible  for me  to even open my computer to see what,s happening around the world, as I was totally occupied  with my health. I broke my wrist  and with plaster for about a month and was not able  to move.. then  my doctor says I am suffering from ostheoporosis .. as I was having  joint pains particularly in my knees.  With lot of medcines  and exercises  I am now be able to use my computer and  able to walk properly ... atleast a Big thanks to God.. as it seems  HE  is  listening to my prayers.  As one grow old  the bone becomes thinner  so  we have to replenish  with Calcium as my Doctor  advised me. I was told  by one of my  wellwisher that  prunes  are very remedy for  the joint problem. In India  dry prunes  are  not easily  assessible, however I get  sometimes from the Capital. As  growing  with the age  day to day life has become  very monotonous but  seeing you  all  I got encouraged. Thanxs everyone !

Welcome back, Raj! You have been missed. Joint pain is awful and it is so true that your whole life can be put on hold until you feel better. I have never heard of that about prunes but it is interesting. Certainly worth a try.

Good to see you back here.

Rajkumari, so good to hear from you again. I thought about you the other day and wondered if you still have a garden.

A woman who calls herself Ruth Bru believes that prunes are very good for the bones. I bought some but don't really enjoy them, so they sit in the cabinet. I believe they have something that makes the calcium work better. Do you have plums there? Prunes are just dried plums. The other thing that really helps bones is exercise, especially with weights.

Welcome BanR. Even though this particular thread has been a bit slow of late, the ladies here are so helpful & understanding. Don't be afraid to vent or ask for a shoulder. We are always here for one another. I am sorry chemo is not going well for you. It all sucks ..... but, we do make it through to the other side, no matter what our tx (treatment) is. I am 5 yrs out as of Nov 5.

Hey, Meecie! How ya doin' girlfriend?!?

ETA: Sherry, you have been missed!

Doin' good, Val! Thanks for asking.

BanR, I am a Triple Neg with similar stats. I did the AC-T protocol as well. I also had rads for 30-5. I am now ten years out from Dx and 9 years out from end of tx. There is a Triple neg thread I used to belong to, sometimes it gets a little political, but I am sure you could get some support there as well.

I feel so loved here. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I did and got to see lots of family.

I went to the PS the other day and I will have to have surgery again. Rads did a number on me and my reconstruction just does not want to hold up. It does not hurt and the PS said I can put it off as long as I want so I told him I would just not up to more surgery right now. Life is just a little too busy and I like it that way.

thanks so much Meece, Wren and Val..

    Third chemo over too!

latest concern...my falling haemoglobin count! Onco says it will, since chemo killing Red Blood cells...any way to increase it? I really dont want to go to the extent where i have to need blood transfusion..my chemo interval is 2 weeks, maybe thats why my body is not getting the chance to recover.

he mentioned Taxol wont cause haemoglobin dip, what has been your experiance?

    thanks again!!

BanR ~ Sometimes this site is a bit slow on the weekend. I didn't do chemo but I'm sure someone will be along Monday or so that has that can perhaps answer your question. Hope your weekend was nice.

    Hugs!

Hi, Was diagnosed in 2010 with stage 1 ductal carcinoma, small 1.9 cm, 7 nodes clear as well as clear margins. Did radiation. I was 61 years old. Fast forward 3 1/2 years and I started having back pain. Thought it was age related, MRI showed two small spots. I am doing a scan this week, but they believe it is Breast cancer. I am shocked that Stage one would do this. My Mother had this and lived for 26 years and died of something else. I am in a lot of pain so I feel certain it is cancer returned. I'm so scared. Even though I'm lucky to be older and have lived to almost 65 I'm not ready to leave my grand children, husband and two daughters!

    LukesNana,

Praying, that they were just spots on MRI.....and pain is age related.

    BanR,

I had low hemoglobin going into this. I am taking Iron supplements and I've had 2 IV Iron (Venifer). What does your MD say. It is normal for it to drop during chemo, come up a little and drop again. I am sure if they were concered they would have ordered supplement.

But to the extent you can eat red meat, that is the easiest and fastest way for my numbers to go up and lots of dark green leafy veggies, beans and other iron rich foods.

weekend went tolerating chemo side effect, Val!!

Thanks Vivian...will discuss the medicines with my doc too!

sorry to hear about it luke..

i believe they skipped chemo for you in the first occurence, thats why it recurred. Was yours hormone negative or hormone positive..i realise sometimes that cancer is such that even with chemo there is no 100 percent assurance. This time, they will go aggressive with chemo and it should go. i am 35, have my husband and 5 year old kid at home....terrible to go through this at this age.

Hi all, thanks for the well wishes. At least I feel that I have lived a pretty good life. Have two wonderful kids and two beautiful grand sons. When I see the young women on here with young children my heart breaks. I will be having a scan in a few days and of course I am terrified that it will show somewhere else! I will try to go to MD Anderson as my daughter works in the medical field in Houston. The hardest part I think is the not knowing. Christmas is my favorite time of year and I feel as if I'm living in a nightmare. Trying to stay positive, but it's very hard right now. My cancer was hormone positive , small with no lymph nodes involved. Had lumpectomy and radiation. Wish now I had done chemo but Oncologist thought not necessary. Wanted to do a Mastectomy but we had sold our house and were moving. Maybe that would have helped but who knows? It's useless to second guess these things as we can't change them.

i like your positive spirit luke!

mastectomy probably doesnt have major survival benefits over lumpectomy is what i keep reading, so dont regret that part..

    keep us updated!

Thinking of you luke... Christmas is the season of miracles so praying your spots are not what you are thinking. We never know with this crap do we? I am your age and like you when I see the young women with young families my heart aches for them. I did chose to have mx, dr. said chemo wasnt necessary but I am taking arimidex as cancer was hormone positive. We have to be content with the decision we made at the times and we felt we were dong what was best then. Good luck with appt. and keep us updated on results.. we are all here for you!! Always remember that.

Lukesnana, You'll be in good hands at MD Anderson. And your DD being in the medical field can't hurt.

Lukesnana, so sorry that you are having to go through this worry at your favorite time of the year. Even though I had a segmental mx, chemo and radiation, and am 10 years out from dx, I still worry when I have any persistant pain. Once you have dealt with cancer in any form, it is always in the back of your mind. This summer I had some issues and went thorough a series of scans and tests and I worried about metastasis the whole time. I found that keeping myself busy helped to ease my anxiety. This is a perfect time of year to keep busy.

    Hi Everybody,

I've been reading everyone's stories. Is there any one dx with <1cm ILC? I only see post from IDC.

    I was 5mm, stage 1, grade 2, 0 nodes.

    Thanks,

    Lucybell
