Remember how the showed how thick Prell was by dropping a pearl in the bottle?
Noxema and Vics Vapor Rub in the blue glass jars.

Oh, I do remember that commercial----------Mom always bought Prell------it was a real eye stinger though. Does Vics Vapor Rub qualify as a fragrance we used to wear----sure got that rubbed on us a lot as a kid!
How many times over the years have you thought or said------"Calgon, take me away! "

My Mom used to buy me some scent her mom wore now can't remember the name something like Blue Grass??? Anyone ever heard of that?
I so remember the pearl doing down. You can still buy Prell but I'm sure it isn't the same. I used to love love Aquamarine shampoo and conditioner ( always reminded me of the beach- found some once at Big Lots but no more and Lemon up shampoo with the lemon on top and then Love's fresh lemon scent - really smelled like fresh lemons.
I remember the hats my Mom wore to church. They were always small and beautiful like a little crescent with a bow and small veil. Very tastful and elegant. She was tall and beautiful and I can still see her in chuch looking so perfect with perfect makeup and her stockings which were real stockings that came folded in a thin box with tissue paper that hooked to a girdle.
Hate how everyone looks so sloppy these days even when "dressed up". But can't imagine people ever going back just cause of the comfort factor. My Dad always wore suits and hats and looked so distinguished.

jaytee, haha, if Vics is a fragrance, then Noxema definitely is one too.
Mentioning the class bottles and containers of those times made me remember that my Grandma took the prettiest decanter bottles (I think they were mostly from booze) and filled them with colored water and put them on the windowsill. I saw these in a few other homes, so I think it was a trend at some point to do this. (Maybe only in the homes where someone emptied those bottles in the first place!)

Ok I know Im way off base on this, but after all this is a trip down memory lane, so here goes. Rememeber soap on a rope? I know its more of a dude thing, but the perfume memories made me think of my dad. It was always hanging in the shower downstairs. He always got a bar of it from us for christmas. The funny thing is, its what we always gave him at Christmas. Soap on a rope and a carton of ciggs.

Stanzie: Blue Grass is correct. My mother wore that for awhile.
Jaytee: Vermont Country Store - I've bought old fashioned candy, clam chowder & some other foods, old fashioned toys (anybody remember the Bozo w/sand in the bottom that you punched & it popped right back up?), 3 prong fork & other gadgets, cosmetics, some old fashioned meds & yes the "tired old ass soak', etc. I've been pleased w/everything I've tried over the years except for one item. I returned that and received a prompt refund.

I just read this morning that Davy Jones from the Monkees died today. How sad!
0 -
I saw that, too. An end of an era. Although, he was never my type. I surpassed him in height by the time I was 12, and I am not kidding.

I remember watching The Monkees on Saturdays after all the cartoons were over. It was kind of a dumb show, even then. But, after it was over, it was time for American Bandstand - loved that show!

Meece, sometimes I feel we might have been separated at birth. As a tall girl, I couldn't get past his shortness either. I guess I "liked" Mickey, the drummer, probably because he was goofy, but Davy did shake a mean tambourine! RIP-DJ.

I adored Davy but had my hair cut like Peter - LOL!

LOL! At least you didn't have Mike-hair! (Have to hide it under a cap!)

Davy was my Saturday boyfriend! I loved that show (and I'm short so Davy and I were PERFECT for each other). I also watched American band Stand after the Monkeys. I was so sad to hear he died.

Remember the TAN M&M's? But they weren't good enough, were they? Now we have blue. Why?
0 -
I don't know E - Blue is NOT my color, but green is!
Really I love ALL m and ms

LOL on Mike hair!!!

Suz, there is a mint M&M that comes in a a variety of greens. But it's not the same as plain green M & Ms, I am sure they don't have the same effect.0

As for height, I had a guy tell me at my last reunion that he would have asked me out in High School but I was too tall! I had several "guy friends" few boyfriends.

On another thread someone mentioned L'eggs. I loved collecting the eggs from my mother, and it seems it wasn't too long after I was wearing them that the egg stopped. I think they phased it out and used the top of the egg on the cardboard cylinder for awhile.

Wow, I didn't even realize the tan M & Ms were a thing of the past. I think I have been an obsessive eater all my life and used to eat my M & Ms according to color....would make little groups that went together....Red and green were my least favorite so they would go first and I would put the tan and brown and maybe throw in a yellow or orange that blended in with them and eat the one color group at a time....I probably should have knows this was indicative of a problem way back then!
I used to love Ambush cologne. My mother wore Blue Grass and also Tigress.....remember thos cardboard cansiters of body powder that came with the perfumes? There was a scent called Joy that she also liked and I think it was expensive because she didn't have a lot of it and I recall my Dad got her some one year for a birthday. How about All my men wear English Leather? Mine did not.....I liked Jade East and Canoe.
I remember Tangee.....it smelled really good. How about Bonnie Bell and Yardley of London Slicker?

Marybe----I do that same kind of thing with skittles, runts, and jelly beans! Always have to save the pink, reds and purples for the end.
Can you just close your eyes and smell some of those scents? My DH used to wear Canoe, loved that scent. He smelled so good when we were dating! Not that he doesnt smell good now......

My brother is in Perth Australia for work. He reminded me of the time in 1962 when John Glenn was circling the earth and somehow earth to spaceship communications got disrupted. The good people of the little city of Perth turned their lights off and then on again simultaneously so that he could find out where he was. I have always had a fond place in my heart for Perth. Since I was 10. Kay
