Oh, I loved the color wheel! My father had the color wheel spinning around while the tree was set up on something that slowly rotated it around. What a light show in the den!
My mother would switch the ornaments up a little, too. Our favorites were all blue or blue & green. Sometimes they would be all gold or gold & red.

This year I did a Mardi Gras theme on one tree. Green Gold & Purple. It' fun to use ornaments I already had and just add a little to them.
Our elementary school had a larger aluminum tree with a color wheel in front of it.

I was going to post that my fave movie of hers was Heidi, but then I know I loved The Little Princess and The Little Colonel and Just Around The Corner and Captain January and The Blue Bird. Who cares how sappy they were? That's WHY I loved them!

No one's been posting here for a while. I haven't come close to exhausting all my memories, but if others are tired of posting it would be too boring with just me going on about ancient history (otherwise known as the golden days.)
I happened to see a bit of that show Let's Make A Deal on t.v. last week. It's has been on forever, but I remember back to when the host, Monty Hall, used to go up into the audience and people had to get onto the show by trading something to him. I seem to remember women trading items from out of their purses...lipsticks, used kleenexes. Or did they just "come on down" and trade with him then?
I'm a little confused because Letterman had that segment where he used to go up into his audience and look thru' ladies handbags, and then give them a prize for participating.
Also, I made up the used kleenex part.

as I recall, Monty Hall went into the audience and asked for things and gave out some cash.
Don't know why, but that reminds me of Laugh-in. anyone else remember that?

I liked Goldie Hawn when she was a dancer on Laugh-In. Also, the psychedelic wall that people would pop out of and say one liners.

My DM loved Laugh-In and me too. I think I was a sophomore in HS about then. It was a tough year - DM going thru a divorce (well so were DB and I) so any laughter was welcome.
On another thread we've had a short reminisce about Welcome Back Kotter.

I don't remember Kraft Mystery Theater, but there was one that I loved in the 70's, mostly scary stories, but I can't remember the name of the series. . . .

Remember the NBC Mystery Movie? Each week they would have a different series like McMillon and Wife or McCloud.

How about when the checkout at the grocery had rows of LifeSavers and Certs and gum, candy bars were on and end cap around here. Can you even buy butterscotch LifeSavers anymore? Now the check out seems like every sort of candy there is. I looked the other day and I didn't see any Certs or Lifesavers.

Lifesavers are hard to find; some at convenience stores in rolls. I used to frequent conv. stores when doing hospice and always checked out the lifesaver supply. My fav were Sweet Mint and Spearmint. You can buy the spearmint in big pkgs indiv. wrapped but I don't think they taste the same. Rarely see Butterscotch, more the fruity or breath mint flavors.
My favorite was Medical Center. I was in love with Chad Everett. Not so much a mystery/spooky show gal.
I actually looked on YouTube for Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey. They were just before my time so missed nearly all of them. I also liked Frontier Doctor with Rex Allen (now that was a long time ago mid 1958 is about when I remember it).
I also did a bit of looking at Bonanza stuff this week only because I put on some Ed Ames music on YouTube. Led me to looking up Pernell Roberts singing "They Call the Wind Maria" and into the whole Bonanza thing.

Oh Luv - What a great memory. "They Call the Wind Maria" by Gogi Grant was on the juke box of a tiny log store in a one horse mountain town where we always stopped to use the facilities on the way to girls summer camp. Hadn't thought of that in years. Thanks.

I just love to put on Top Tracks on YouTube and just let it run. Have CD's galore but not much else techno music wise. So I'll just put on Ed Ames, Kevin Kern (easy listening piano music), Robert Goulet or Glen Campbell and let them play thru while here on net or even while reading.

Bonanza is on in the afternoon around here.
I remember my brother and I going into our coat closet and crunching Wint-O-Green Lifesavers and watching "sparks" fly.
