Thanks so much for this. I just got dx 10 days ago, and I'm saving this in a word document.
I had already bought a binder and plastic page protectors as well but the other suggestions are outstanding.

TO All this has been in the news recently. This link to UCLA presents the "Hygiene Hypothesis" in a well thought out easy to read sequence. Thoughts re: this concept have been tossed around for decades. There are many studies being conducted and published to prove the hypothesis. One study, for example, showed that children that came from home where dishes were hand washed versus washed in the dishwasher had less allergies etc.
The consequences of all these research studies coming out in close time to each other, is going to lead to a major change in how children are raised. I'd have to do a different search to see what is being done with adults. The industries related to convincing people to sanitize everything are NOT going to be happy. The second and third links identify several studies in each article.

This is on peanut allergies. It's all over the news right now. I chose this link b/c she included much of the data in an understandable way. This research should be passed onto anyone you know with small children so they can talk with their doc.

This is an article about the difference in allergies statisticsin children with eczema and what all...... Dishwashers vs handwashing., fermented foods. It's a little technical, but you will get the gist of it.

Sas Schatzi,
One of the first case studies using the hygiene hypothesis was done during the polio crisis. Kids who lived in settings in which they were exposed more infections from going barefoot and living without toilets were much less likely to get polio or had many fewer symptons and long-term effects. Seems these kids had developed many more types of antigens and produced antigens more quickly. Makes sense to me.

Someone over in another thread mentioned she got Shingles!
Definitely ask to get the vaccine before you start chemo or other treatment! You do NOT want shingles on top of dealing with all this stuff! My old healthcare provider would not give shingles shots to anyone before the age of 60, (I was 58) but fortunately they allowed me to get one before chemo! I'm glad to not have that worry hanging over my head!
There's so much to think about with this diagnosis, but thank goodness for threads like this! So much great info! I'm pretty much I heard about getting the shingles shot from the original post!

I won the shingles lottery. My MO wanted me to get the flu, tetanus, and pneumonia vaccines, and I did. Never mentioned the shingles vaccine I saw it online. My appointment with my PCP is 7/23 but I got the shingles last week. Go figure. But I didn't know that chemo and rads creates high risk for shingles for all of us. Please check with your MO, this sucks.
