Nancy, my dad would have been 100 years old on March 28th. He lived to be 88. Yes, I have been thinking of Carol and Marty and praying Marty will be comforted at this time.
My appointment actually went pretty well. My biopsy showed I have the ESRI mutation which is good for me as there is a new oral chemo that was developed specially for this mutation. I start it tomorrow so we will see how it goes. It means I can avoid IV chemo for now. I was able to handle a short trip on Sunday to attend my granddaughter's award ceremony in Denver. We then stopped on the way home to visit some old friends. I had to recouperate on Monday but it wasn't bad. My DH has come down with another cold so we are hoping I can avoid it this time.
I have also been thinking of KBL. Does anyone know how she is?
Praying for God's grace as we all travel through this disease.
Love, Chris

hersheykiss,
Every penny helps!
wheatfields,
I've sinus issues off and on during the 4 seasons.
Intollght,
Pleased you can avoid IV chemo for now.
Nancy,
Today 67* and feeling like spring is in the air. I even gathered up a pile of branches blown off from the winter winds to be dragged off during April.
In my prayers one and all.

Chris, I am really praying that your new oral chemo will work for you and you will be able to have manageable side effects. I am so glad you will not have to have IV chemo. I am so glad you got to go to Denver to celebrate your granddaughters awards ceremony. I bet she was really excited and I am sure she had a very proud family supporting her as well. I hope your DH recovers quickly and that you will not catch anything from him.
Teka, that sounds like yesterday here. I changed out all the patio lights that had gone out in the very cold winter. It was nice to drive last night and see all five lights on instead of only one! That is just on the outside of the patio. I have five more lights on the inside and I only need to replace one of them. Isn't it nice to get out and do something in the yard after all of these months.
Our Bible study ran way over tonight and I still need to go to the store to get something so I need to sign off.
Have a good night everyone.
Love,
Nancy0 -
I am really sorry to hear about Carol, but we do know she is so happy now in Heaven. I'll be praying for Marty and the rest of her family. Was her Dad still living - I remember they would go to visit him now and then.
Chris, so thankful there is an oral treatment available instead of the IV. And we will be praying for no side effects and yet it will be effective. Also, so happy that you were able to go to Denver for the special awards ceremony for your granddaughter.
My nurse friend is doing a little better but still has nights where the bladder keeps her up and down a lot and then doesn't get the rest she needs. My sister is still insisting that she go back to their apartment. My BIL is recovering well from his surgery and going to PT now. I go back to the ENT about my sinus's the 26th of March. But am feeling better now. Although I do use the rinse daily.
Praying for all of you, Teka and Hershey as well!
Has anyone heard from GB?
Love, Wheatfields

Wheatfields, I am glad your sinus issues are better. I am glad to hear you are rinsing everyday. I haven't had a sinus infection since doing this routine now for quite a few years. Prior to that I was getting them a lot.
You asked about if Carol's Dad was living. I can reach out to this friend of hers that is the one that told me about her passing. I accidentally (not a coincidence) found her name in my sent file because I totally forgot her name. I was actually looking for something else and when her name came up that is when I reached out to her. I am still a little uncertain why she emailed me in the first place. It had something to do with Carol's blog.
I have not heard anything from GB. I don't have any personal info on to reach out to her. I hope she is doing well.
I have to get up a few times in the night as well. I totally understand what your friend is dealing with. Last week I had a horrendous week of insomnia and I am so grateful this week is much better. I am dealing with the bladder issues as well. I did the whole PT session of pelvic floor therapy and it did wonders. Then when I had my hemorrhoidectomy it totally undid all the progress I had made because the muscles I could not feel at all to do the exercises. I am slowly clawing my way back.
I am glad to hear your BIL is recovering and in PT already. I am really sorry to hear that your sister is still wanting to go home. I don't know if this is even possible at this point but when my Mom had to go into assisted living she had her own apartment. My sister took all the things off the wall at her house that she would see all the time and put those same things up in her assisted living apt. I don't know if it made her feel more like home but she did adjust to my surprise. Just a thought.
Chris, how is your new drug working? I know you have only been on it for a couple of days. I am praying it will be a miracle for you in that it will work and you will not have so many side effects as you have had in the past.
Everone have a wonderful weekend.
Love,
Nancy

Husband and I made enough corned beef boiled dinner to go the week.
Daughter's corned beef boiled dinner.

Teka, so how was your corned beef. Your daughters? I have to confess that I have never eaten that before. You know I am not a seafood fan either so I guess this makes me ???????? I might like this more than………..oysters. 🙄
For all who receive social security I have seen several podcasts on YouTube that say our April payments will be delayed. Yep, thanks to DOGE.
Chris, how are you feeling on your new meds? I have been praying that they will work for you and be more manageable than some of your previous ones.
Take care everyone.
Love,
Nancy

@teka Your DDs corned beef looks good. I am with Nancy in that I don't eat it either but it looks great.
Nancy, my experience with my new med so far is mixed. The med itself is okay so far, but Monday night the pill got lodged in my throat (sphincter?) and it took almost 24 hours for it to finally drop. It was excruciating and I tried everything except for going to the ER (I am stubborn that way.) I didn't take it last night as I figured there would be too much med in my system if it just then dissolved. We shall see tonight. I plan on trying it with applesauce. Unfortunately I am not supposed to crush or cut it. I have never had problems taking large pills before. If it continues I will inform my onc to see if she has any suggestions. I am sure it is not good for a chemo drug to sit in the throat! If it happens again I may have to go in…
We had snow squalls blow through last night and the roads were nasty. My DD made it home from the hospital but she said there were at least 12 cars she counted in the ditches. She stayed late as one of the nurses had trouble getting there. She has a jeep and fortunately drove there and back before and after the storm.
This is supposed to be a quiet-stay-at-home week for me. Praying that is so.
Blessings! Chris

Oh Chris, that sound horrendous. I have mentioned this in the past as I have had chronic swallowing issues after my neck surgery in 2001. I tilt my head to the side and that seems to help with pills. I have experienced several pills not going down as I take several pills at a time. Usually by the time I have breakfast it is then okay but I know how awful that feels!
My Mom at her assisted living facility was having some issues with her meds not going down and they regularly brought her a little cup of applesauce so maybe that would work for you too. I would give my Mom a bite of a protein bar if this happened when I was with her. Hopefully you can take something with it so that doesn't happen again. I am glad your daughter made it home safely. We had snow and rain and hail today and I have yet to get my garbage to the curb because I fell asleep tonight before finishing up in the kitchen so I better sign off. I will definitely be praying that tonight things will go much more smoothly with your chemo pill.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy,
I'm close to having my fill of corn beef boiled dinner. :o(
I take all news sources with a grain of salt. My fingers & toes are crossed. ;o)
Chris,
Please contact MO if you continue to have a swallowing issue with chemo pill.
In my prayers one and all.

Teka, I would have loved some of that corn beef dinner, it looks delicious! Chris, I'm praying that the swallowing issues do disappear with a little applesauce and no side effects except for you to feel better again!
My sister followed a maintenance man out of the back door to memory care the other day and he assumed she was a volunteer. She made her way over to the independent apartment building and asked for my BIL. They came from memory care and walked her back. She said to me on the phone that night, I did something today that I probably shouldn't have but I just see no reason I can't be at the apartment. They have a meeting with the doctor today and so I wonder if they are going to decide on more "meds". I'm praying she is still able to walk with the ladies from independent like she does on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Nancy, thank you for your insight. We did put some paintings on the wall of hers from home, but otherwise it's a little one room with a bathroom and hard to make it look like home.
Praying for each of you!
Love, Wheatfields

I took my pill with applesauce and it went down easy, so that's that.
@wheatfields We want them to be complaint just like our kids. I am glad your DS is safe. My sweet MIL struggled in memory care for a while too, but eventually her memory got worse and she settled down. It is so hard.

Chris, I am so glad to hear your pill with applesauce went down. PTL
Wheatfields, oh my. She obviously knew she had done something wrong. I'm sure glad someone caught this right away and got her safely home. If this is any consolation one of my best dearest friends is still alive at 96. She has dementia but is still living in her home. She became a widow at a young age and her daughter and family moved in with her and she moved to her basement and made an apt out of it so she has lived many years with her daughter and SIL. She was very depressed when she couldn't drive due to her dementia. She had a rough period of time and she too started wandering. When I visited her a few weeks ago I was pleased to hear that she is now in a more content phase and the wandering has stopped. They had to install cameras to watch her. I hope that your sister will enter a phase of contentment where she is. I know you are so concerned for her. I pray for peace for you and for contentment for your sister.
Teka, I am glad you had a nice week of corned beef. This has no connection what so ever other than the word corn but I saw a picture of a squirrel under this car and it had a long ear of corn in it's mouth. They called it squirrel on the cob. LOL I hope what I heard about SS is not going to happen too!!!!!
Have a nice weekend everyone. Happy first day of spring. I took this picture a few years ago and it reminds me of warmer months ahead.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, your St. Patrick's meal looks delicious. I'm not a fan of leftovers but will make an exception for corned beef, potatoes, and carrots (I'll pass on the cabbage 😉).
Nancy, I do hope the YouTube videos are incorrect about delayed Social Security payments. So very many folks count on receiving their checks and automatic deposits each month.
Chris, thankful the applesauce did the trick. My mom had trouble swallowing pills and took hers with applesauce or chocolate pudding. Either one worked well for her.
Wheatfields, how scary to learn that your sister was able to leave memory care through a back door. Praise Jesus that she is safe and at home again.
Wishing everyone a lovely rest of the week and weekend.

Hershey, there was a lot of drama over the last 24 hrs on Social Security. A judge ordered Musk and his DOGE team to halt there fishing into the private data of the recipients of SS. Last night all the news was the Social Security would be shut down because the acting head wasn't going to allow his own workers to have access to do their normal jobs. Now today it has been reversed as the judge made it clear that the normal SS workers could go ahead and do their jobs. What drama! So hopefully we will get our checks as planned.
Teka, as I am seeing my daffodils coming up and the trees budding it is always like a miracle from snow all on the ground to trees with all their leaves. It happens so slowly it is like a miracle when it all springs forth.
Love,
Nancy

Chris,
I lurk on the threads.
Tomorrow, may you have a stress-free brain MRI with okay results. Also, may DH and Y enjoy an early Sunday morning breakfast. ;o)
0 -
Chris, I have been praying for you that your new drug will be a miracle for you. Praying for your MRI as well.
Teka, thank you for lurking!
I have been sick most of the week. I can't seem to get rid of it. All head and throat stuff.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I am so sorry you are sick. My DH finally got over his although it took him awhile. Thank you for your prayers. My side effects so far seem manageable, but they come with extra fatigue and body aches. I am frantically tidying up the house with last minute company coming over. I have to do it in 10 minute intervals. I know they understand but it is my nature to have a clean house. Well, only the main part will look clean. I just don't have the energy anymore.

Happy 17th Birthday to Cammie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Cammie! You are old but beautiful.
0 -
Chris, Cammie says thank you. I have taught her to read among other things. LOL
Did you have your MRI? If I am following the timeline it looks like you might have had it today but being a Sunday not sure about that. I am praying for you no matter what day. I know the results are of course the most important thing. I deal with fatigue so I completely understand cleaning house in intervals. I clean my house over the course of a few days. I am sure your company will be more interested in you and your family than if they see a speck of dust.
I don't know how your bc drug works but is there a possibity that it takes some time for your body to adjust and then you might feel less side effects? I sure hope that is the case.
I know your DH took a long time to get over his sickness. I have a very full week ahead with all the apts I rescheduled. I sure hope I am up to it. I have had a killer headache that seems to go and then it comes back. I just feel very washed out and hoping my energy will come back soon.
BTW I consider Cammie living to 17 as a miracle when I didn't think she would make it to 16. The marvels of veterinary medicine defintely helps too. I can't imagine life without her so I am trying to enjoy each day with her and consider it a gift.
Take care.
Love,
Nancy

Happy Birthday Cammie! Nancy praying that you are feeling better and up to appointments this week! Cammie is so beautiful ~ thank you for sharing a picture!
Chris, praying for a good MRI report and that your side effects are at a very minimum.

Thanks Teka for the pretty banner for Cammie. She thinks it is beautiful!!!
Wheatfields, thank you. Cammie and I have had a long run and I hope it keeps going. She has another skin infection due to her monthly arthritis shots so I need to talk to her vet since her shot is due on Thursday. How are you feeling and doing with your sinus issues? I am starting my usual routine so we'll see how that goes.
Chris, continued prayers for you.
Hershey, how are you doing?
Love,
Nancy

Happy Belated Birthday, Cammie! I'm sorry I missed your special day. My, what beautiful blue eyes you have. You are a pretty kitty indeed!
Chris, so thankful for your clear MRI results. What a relief to receive such great news.
Nancy, I hope your headaches subside and you make all your appointments this week. It can get overwhelming when appointments begin to stack up.
We've been busy meeting with our lawyer and financial advisor. The advisor said he has clients who meet with him every month and then asked if we wanted to set up regular monthly meetings with him. Oh my, no thank you! We have enough appointments on our schedules already! 🙃

Thank you Hershey. Cammie is worn out from the big party with all of her neighborhood kitty friends. LOL I had a Himalayan cat for 16 yrs before Cammie and she also was white, long haired with blue points and had blue eyes. Cammie is a Ragdolll breed but from the back she looks very much like my previous cat.
I did my grocery shopping today and came home and was not feeling well at all. So after eating lunch I ended up falling asleep for a few hours. I finally decided to give in and take more Tylenol. I really hate to depend on that unless absolutely necessary as I have taken a lot of it over time.
Wow, I don't think I have ever heard of a financial advisor setting up monthly meetings. In our current climate of uncertainty it does make it very difficult to know how to manuever the financials. I just heard on a program tonight that the SSA offices that were going to close got so much push back that they have changed their minds again and are going to stay open. I even saw a short list of them but I couldn't read it fast enough. I am waiting with bated breath to see if my SS deposit comes in on time this month. Then I am going to make some financial decisions.
I have had some phone weird calls. I would say 6 or 7 calls at least coming from what says my pharmacy name on my caller ID. Some numbers are legit and some are from other area codes but they all say this pharmacy. The one time they left a message it was from a pharmacist wondering how I was doing on my meds. I am not taking any new meds so this felt like a red flag for sure. I have not felt like going to this pharmacy to talk with someone but I am pretty certain this is a scam where they have spoofed their phone number.
I am always very careful when recycling pill bottles that I take a permanent marker and cover all the info on the bottle. I know that with the SSA situation with the DOGE team accessing personal data which I understand included medical records I can't help but think maybe there is a connection here. This is my same phone number I had issues with a couple years ago when my local bank number was spoofed and I was getting repeated calls from them. Then shortly after is when one of my online banks was broken into ( figuratively) and they were trying to withdraw a very large sum of money and luckily their fraud dept caught it. When I got my local police involved they later called and said that just know now they have your phone number they will try again to scam you because once they have tried and not succeeded they will sell my number back to the dark web. All very scary stuff.
So anyone reading this beware and stay on guard. I never answer my phone unless I know who it is but in this case I am not answering my phone at all. Luckily I didn't answer the very first time.
I hope you have a good week.
Love,
Nancy
