Oh Wheatfields, I am so sorry to read about your case of shingles. I hope you are not in pain and are on the mend. My mother experienced a shingles episode on her head. The blisters were in her scalp and on her neck. She thought they were mosquito bites! Her longtime opthamologist was concerned that the virus could migrate to her eyes and prescribed an oral antiviral and antibiotic eyedrops straightaway. My mom saw him for followup care for 12 months, and she suffered no longterm effects. I pray you return to good health very soon.
Chris, yes! Do schedule your and your husband's shingles vaccines. The new two dose series is highly effective against the virus.
Nancy, that is reassuring news about your ear being clear. I continue to pray that an earlier ENT appointment opens for you.
We are having some wonderful May showers. Their timing has been perfect: our front and back yards were aerated a couple of weeks ago, and we put fertilizer down on Monday morning. The grass looks so green, and our little maple tree is beginning to sprout some new leaves. My husband bought pepper plants yesterday. Once the soil dries out, we'll start to work on planting the garden.
Praying everyone has a blessed rest of the week.

Hi Friends. My CT results are back already (one hour results!) It looks like the lesions of concern on my liver are shrinking, some are gone, and there is nothing else new anywhere. Praise the Lord. The new meds are working! Of course I have not heard from my MO yet…

Hershey, I am glad that your yard is looking nice and green and your maple tree is sprouting leaves. My new little tree finally started getting new leaves as well. I am sure you are anxious to get your garden in. My Mom had shingles on her face too and she had to have her eye taped shut for quite some time because she was not blinking and therefore her eyes were not getting moisture. Besides shingles they called it Ramsey Hunt Syndrome too. I am not sure what caused what but it was a nightmare when my Mom would pull off the eye bandages. She was still home at that time and it happened when I was staying there for a while thankfully. So anyone reading this get your shingles shot. It is certainly not anything you want to get. I had shingles three times and was immediately put on the meds. Mine was always around my waist.
Chris, that is GREAT news. I have been praying for you as I have been driving to my apts today. I am so glad that it appears the meds are working. Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wheatfields, how are you doing tonight? Praying you are resting comfortably with no pain.
Teka, Cammie had her shot today and she had gained quite a bit of weight. That was a big sigh of relief. Her new food came yesterday just in time for her to happily eat her heart out. LOL Great for weighing in today.
I don't think I told you all about the fiasco of the beginning of this week. My cellphone had a sim card malfunction so basically I could not get or send texts or phone calls. I found this out right when my fraud dept of my bank was on the phone with me trying to verify my identity. When they sent me a code on my phone it wouldn't work so you can imagine how I looked guility and it turned into a two day fiasco but is finally fixed. My phobe was fixed tonight thanks to the Geek Squad. It was a simple fix. I am SO thankful.
I had a bunch of texts come in and I got a phone message coming from I am not quite sure since Monday but it was in regards to me getting in earliier for my ENT apt. I just heard this message tonight. There is a couple of openings on Friday with a new PA that appears to be in the same clinic as the ENT I am waiting to get in with. I think she is brand new and therefore no way to check reviews etc. One of the apts is too close to my hair apt and the other is very early in the morning. I will have to make a decision and call them tomorrow but I just need guidance. I am praying for wisdom in what to do. If I have to have surgery I would want the experienced doctor to do that. However there may be many tests that they might want to do and I could be getting those out of the way so if I had surgery it would hopefully be sooner.
If you have any wise words of wisdom I would love to hear them.
Take care dear sisters. Have a good night.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, we will be praying for you and your appointment that the doctor will have wisdom and discernment and praying that there is a simple solution for you to feel better other than any surgery. So nice that Cammie is doing well.
Hershey, glad you are getting those much needed rains for a green yard, we are getting more leaves on our trees now and I noticed yesterday that the lilacs are flowering too.
Chris, so thankful your CT results were clear. Will keep praying for your continued healing and feeling better.
I'm feeling better at home, but pills and my stomach seem constant enemies. I think I'm going to have to have a little food and take the pain pills on a more regular basis. Not wait till the pain is starting to get greater. I do have one a nerve pain pill that is scheduled but the other two are as needed. And the anti shingle pill isn't for pain but scheduled 3 x day. I made an excel spreadsheet for the pills so I could check them off each day. I had taken a pain pill earlier this morning on empty stomach and then was getting light headed and faint when I started to eat breakfast, so I went to lay on the couch for a while, now I'm better and back to eating. I can see this is going to take awhile. My nurse friend and I walked outside yesterday a couple times which I enjoyed, I love the out of doors. I don't feel safe out walking by my self though because I'm unsteady taking the pain meds. I fixed some salmon, sweet potatoes, and peas for lunch yesterday for my nurse friend and I. Actually having shingles on the face has the advantage of being free from clothes rubbing or limbs and moving causing pain, it's just not good to be around the eye. Yes, everyone - schedule today for your shingles vaccine!
Praying for each of you

Nancy, not sure I have any words of wisdom but agree with Teka: if the PA works in the same clinic as the ENT, then schedule the Friday appointment. She will have authorization to order tests required prior to your meeting with the ENT.
Chris, such an encouraging CT report! Praise Jesus!
Wheatfields, using a spreadsheet to track your meds is a fabulous idea. I'm glad that you felt up to preparing a delicious lunch and going for walks outdoors with your nurse friend. I pray that you quickly recover from shingles and experience no lasting effects from the virus.

Wheatfields, using a spreadsheet is awesome. Why didn't I think of that!!!! Maybe eating a little before each pill might help. I gained a tremendous amount of weight just from being sick for so long and I do think the problem was I was eating more because of the meds coming at different times than my usual meals. I have a feeling that will not be an issue for you. The shingles meds can be very effective and I sure hope that you will see some quick results. I am glad you are still able to walk and cook. I forced myself to keep walking no matter what and I know that really helped me physically and mentally. I am praying for your nerve pain and for your pill toleration.
I woke up today feeling like I should at least see if that apt on Friday was still available and it was not. I did do a little more research on this PA and found another site that gave her really good reviews. She is young and I am guessing Chinese but is English speaking so hopefully not hard to understand. I am going to see her on May 22. I made it clear with the scheduler that I am keeping my May 28 apt. with the doctor. We are very fortunate to have access to many good doctors and my experience has been great with PA's. My oncologist was a PA and I had her for several years and I liked her better than my initial MO. At this point I really am not sure what she will want to do. She is at two locations in my city and I have doctors at both sites or have had in the past. I will be seeing her at a different location than the doctor but she is also in the same clinic as him and our electronic records are great. I try to keep all my doctors now in the same doctor network so they can easily access my recent CT scan that said I have the dysfunction of the Eustachian tube. I have had ear problems off and on for many years and I want this to be taken of permanently and this balloon dilation in my opinion seems to be the best option. When I asked how long the apt would be the scheduler said I don't know. When I have had these type of apts in the past they usually do a hearing test and in my case some dizziness tests.
So that is the story. I don't know if I mentioned this but I usually have my car detailed each year and my 10 year old car actually looks like new. I have a new guy who is currently working on my car at my house which is wonderful. He got rave reviews on Nextdoor so I scheduled with him months ago. He has allowed a 4hr window so I am hoping my car is nice and shiny and clean when all done. The dead cycaida that was still hiding in the very back where I didn't dare try to get it last year right after having knee surgery I pointed out to him. He said he would be sure to get rid of that little guy that terrorized me last year. Oh my, seems like yesterday.
I have not felt like cleaning and my house was beginning to look like an Amazon warehouse so I got through many boxes yesterday. The mail just has a way of coming every day and all the paper trail. UGH I am slowly digging my way out of that too.
Thank you all for your input. I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day and as my Bible study teacher said this week if you are not a Mother Happy Auntie Day.
Love,
Nancy

To those of you who are mothers, celebrating with a mother, or honoring the memory of your mother … I wish you a happy and blessed Mother's Day!

Teka, thank you for the pretty tulip picture and also of Teka enjoying the sunshine! Continuing to pray for you!
Nancy, praying that you are feeling a lot better and on the mend and your appointment was productive.
I didn't realize that shingles is a long process, they said the pain could last from 2-4 weeks, I had a follow up today with the regular doctor and she encouraged me to try backing off of maybe one dose of ibuprofen for a couple days, and then maybe a dose of tylenol because I guess taking these all the time could cause rebound headaches. I still take Lyrica twice a day which I suspect is the one that makes me groggy but that is for nerve pain so we didn't discuss dropping that one yet. I'm to check back in 2-3 weeks. Then I have a follow up also with the eye doctor on Thursday this week. My nurse friend has been really great about sticking with me through this.
Praying for each of you as well!
Love, Wheatfields

Teka, your last tulip is a sign of warmer weather to come. I totally missed my few red tulips that hide behind my daffodils this year. Teka is so pretty. I hope you had a good Mother's Day.
Wheatfields, I'm sorry to hear that you are having a lot of pain. I am glad you are you are going to see an eye doctor. Having your friend walk alongside you during this time is a real blessing, I am not sure if the nerves in your face are more sensitive but they might be. I remember having a lot of fatigue that went on for a long time the first time I had it. I remembe having the bed sheets being painful on my waist,
i am actually not doing great. I did my usual trek of buying flowers before Mother's Day. I went on Friday and did well and didn't exert a lot of energy. On Saturday it was much more strenuous andI was guiding a car which was very heavy to maneuver with my heavy hanging baskets on them and close quarters with a lot of people.By the time I was ready to check out I was so done in I had to just sit for a while, It''s like someone pulled the plug on my energy and there was nothing much left to make it out to my car. I had the same experience with that totally fatigued feeling that just doesn't seem to improve. I had my Bible Study and I had trouble concentrating too. I am somewhat concerned about this, I have to redo my CMP blood panel because my kidney levels have been getting worse, I am to hydrate a lot before hand. I am actually quite concerned with this as I heard of six warning signs for kidney failure and I had some of them. My doctor told me to be well hydrated so I have been taking several days to hydrate,
I will have to tell you my flower fiasco on another day. That is one of the big reasons I am so fatigued. I will see a new PA for my ear issues on May 22 and then will still keep my apt with the ENT on May 28
I hope everyone has a restful sleep. Wheatfields I will be praying for you to get through this time and that the pain will subside soon,
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I am so sorry to read that you are not doing well again. Your flowers bring you joy each year and this must have been hard to deal with. I am praying that your PA and ENT can give you some answers and some solutions.
Wheatfields, I am praying your pain diminishes. You have encouraged me to get my vaccine and I pray that you will continue to heal.
Teka, your flowers are beautiful. We are in a heatwave here and I fear our buds will dry out before they have a chance to bloom. Last week it snowed and this week is in the 80s. Ughh! We can finally charge our sprinkler lines now since the fear of freeze is past, but I fear we are not far from a water restriction.
I am trudging through another week. My son's family will visit in another month which provides something to look forward to. Since my English is so terrible, I will stop. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Oh dear, Nancy. I'm so sorry to see that you're feeling under the weather. If your garden center is anything like mine, it can get very warm, humid and claustrophobic. Staying hydrated is important (and your kidneys will love you for it!).
Wheatfields, I hope your case of shingles resolves soon. I'm thankful that your nurse friend is there to support and encourage you. She is a true blue friend indeed.
Teka, your kitty's markings are beautiful.
We finished planting our garden yesterday, and my husband is working on the drip system today. I accidently injured my thumb and nail bed yesterday afternoon; nothing so serious to send me to the doctor or urgent care, but it will take time for a new nail to grow and reattach. I'll keep my thumb clean and bandaged for the time being.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and restful evening.

Chris, I am glad that your son and his family will be visiting and giving you something to look forward too. Snow in May………WOW is that unusual? I am glad it is nicer now. I hope you are adjusting to your new meds.
Hershey, I am really sorry to hear about your thumb accident. That sounds awful and probably very painful. I sure hope you are able to take something for the pain. That is a shame right when you got your garden in. Hopefully you can still do what you need with the thumb managed. I have stubbed a toe in the past and it would turn black and it would take a long time for the nail to grow the black out. I am glad you didn't have to go to urgent care but I imagine it will take some time for your nail to grow and get back to normal.
Today has been a pretty crazy day. I am typing this at 1:45 in the morning so to say I got a late start on my day would be an understatement. I am not sure if I told you about my sim card in my cellphone failing. This all started a week ago on Monday. The Geek Squad got it up and running but that only lasted for two or three days and then I couldn't text or call or receive them either. I ordered a sim card which was supposed to come today and they said it is delayed and won't come until tomorrow. Some functions still work if they are stand alone apps. My clock radio I wake up to every morning has also been malfunctioning so I sometimes use my cell phone's timer to get up. I set it for an hour and I ended up waking up at noon and the timer had stopped. So that just messed up the whole day as far as more flower prep. I decided to look at new cell phones and it took a long time to get to a customer service person this evening but I finally was able to chat with one person about buying a phone which is unlocked and if it would work for Tracfone. She couldn't say for sure without an IMEI number but I ended up buying one from Amazon which I can return if it doesn't work. So no more progress on my flowers but I do have a new phone coming. I will have to get another sim card kit and I think I can do that locally so I can transfer data.
I have been drinking lots of water and I will be retaking some of my tests tomorrow for my pcp that I did a week ago on Monday. I have felt better today. I am still dizzy but just staying home has not been as stenuous.
I need to get to bed and hopefully will buy my potting soil which I had planned on today. I still have to tell you all about my flower fiasco but that will have to wait when I have a little more time.
I imagine you are all sound asleep at this point. Have a good day tomorrow.
Love,
Nancy

Hi dear sisters,
How is everyone doing?
Wheatfields, how are you managing with shingles? I hope you are through the worse of it. Praying for complete healing.
Hershey, how is your thumb? I pray that it heals quickly.
Chris, how are you feeling? Do you think your new med is better as far as side effects? Praying it is easier to manage and effective.
Teka, how are you doing way up north? I hope you are fully enjoying this spring time.
We had a hopefully only once in a lifetime dust storm. I got an emergency notification on my phone about it. I guess visibility was going to get down to zero. It looked pretty surreal for sure. I had just had my car detailed the week before and it was in the garage. Even at that it had dust all over it as there were wind gusts of 60mph so that didn't help.
I have been doing okay and anxiously waiting for my Thursday apt with the PA for my ear issues.
I redid the test for kidney function after drinking and hydrating as much as possible for a few days before and my tests had all improved so that was a huge relief.
I have been experiencing extreme fatigue which is making me wonder if I had Covid and didn't know it a few weeks ago. This was how I reacted to it with fatigue for weeks and weeks after when I had Covid the first time.
I ended up buying a very expensive cellphone not even knowing if Tracfone would work with it. It has been quite a week of challenges. Tracfone is knowing for having horrible customer service and I experienced that on Thursday as I couldn't get through with chat or phone. On Friday I tried again. What are the odds that I would get the same person on chat as I did the previous week who was very helpful. This person had a very unique name but he or she was a God send for sure. This person was SOOOO patient with me as I had to type all of these long string of numbers and I was having trouble seeing. Anyway long story short I finally got it approved and activated. Now getting the data transfered has run into a hitch which I won't go into. I am going to have Geek Squad deal with some of this.
Take care. Have a great week.
Love,
Nancy

Wheatfields, I pray the antivirus has stopped the shingles from spreading and that you are doing better.
Nancy, you and your tech troubles! Seems like that is always some sort of trouble for you. So sorry. I pray your appointment Thursday with the PA provides lots of answers. I am praying for complete healing of your ear troubles.
I am feeling about the same. I see my MO on Thursday for a well check and I don't expect any changes. I am willing to hang on to this new treatment as long as possible. Gotta run…

Chris, it is not only tech issues. I had to get groceries and pick up my chicken I order almost every Monday and had to pick up a prescription from my pcp that he forgot to sign and my car was completely dead. I thought it was my car fob and called a neighbor and asked if she would drive me to the Honda dealer so I could get a new battery for the fob. When I got home the car was still dead. It didn't even occur to me that it could be my car battery which was just replaced in Jan of this year.
I was telling my neighbors tonight about it after giving their son a graduation gift inside one of my greeting cards I made for him. They said let's look at your car. There were no lights whatsoever so it was a car battery. I have a tow truck coming tomorrow morning which I had already arranged. They were so busy today and the Honda dealer was really backed up so things will hopefully work out tomorrow morning.
It could be the alternator too. I guess I will find out tomorrow. If this happened to me on Thursday when I have been waiting forever to get into a doctor about my ENT issues that is when I see this PA I would have really been upset. So if this was to happen luckily it happened on a day with no apts. I still don't have groceries either which was to happen today also.
I did ask if they could jump start the car first. This is like deja vu from January. Same tow truck company too. I have not had to be towed in many, many years and now I will have to be towed twice this year alone.
I cannot get my Google account set up on my new phone. Oh my gosh. It is a nightmare. I had already decided to have Geek Squad do it for me and hopefully they can figure out the info for my Google Account. I know my email address and password but the password did not work. That hasn't stopped me from spending hours trying to figure this out. I can't transfer data to my new phone with out this account being set up.
I never thought of myself as having that many tech issues but it sure feels that way now!!!!!
Chris I hope your apt with your MO on Thursday goes well.
Have a good night.
Love,
Nancy

Wow Nancy, so many problems today! Yikes! MyDH and I have been members of Auto Club for 40 years. It is great because when we have a dead battery, we call them, tell them our car make, and they send a tow truck. The guy checks the battery. If it is good, they jump it. If it is bad, they can replace it on the spot. We had them come out to the hospital parking lot once and they replaced the battery there. It provides peace of mind. I can't help you with your phone. My DH handles all that mess, but we do take it to the company service store that we use, like T-Mobile, etc. They usually download everything for us. Can you try that? We have never used the Geek Squad. I could be totally off the mark so just excuse my nonsense.
0 -
Chris, your auto club sounds nice. I am so thankful that the two times I have needed a tow this year the car was in my garage. With Tracfone it is a prepaid wireless company and there is no physical store anywere so when you buy a new phone you have to figure it out yourself or in my case i have a Geek Squad membership since I have so many tech devices. I did find out if you have a membership they will transfer your data for free. However with this hitch I am having it is going to be a challenge even if I take my computer there to help as my passwords are suggested passwords by the password manager and they are all jumbled up so I could never memorize them. I won't have much time after Tues until Friday.
I transfered data on my previous new phone and it missed some of my contacts I found out later but I didn't have any of the issues I am running into now. I really honestly think that the enemy is trying to defeat me by the all out attack with my health and my tech.
Well I have to get to bed. The tow truck will be here in the morning. Have a good night.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I'm hoping the Honda technician successfully diagnoses your car's issue and recommends an appropriate solution.
We've carried a basic AAA membership for many years. It's very economical and has paid for itself numerous times over. Towing, battery jumping, flat tire changing, locksmithing...I think we've used each service at least once over the years.
Thank you for asking about my injured thumb. I'm no longer keeping it bandaged. It's still obvious that the nail is separated from the bed, but most of the swelling has subsided. Squeezing can be a bit painful at times, so I'm careful picking up objects and using utensils.
I hope the Geek Squad gets your new phone up and running very soon. The latest Samsung phones are powerful and very impressive.
0 -
Hershey, I'm glad you were able to graduate to no bandage. You don't realize how your thumbs are involved in everything until it is injured. I have arthritis pretty bad in one of my thumbs and I understand how difficult it can be.
My tow truck guy was the very same guy that came in Jan of this year when my car battery totally gave out. I still had his receipt from then. Today he charged me $30 less and I was very happy about that. I gave him a tip and he was thrilled. He said not many people tip for this service. He got the battery going immediately which is always an relief. He said it is not the alternator but the dealer will check the battery. Long story after spending a a good chunk of time at the dealer they could not find anything wrong with the battery. He said they started it about 30 times to be sure it wasn't the starter. So I came away with owing them nothing but still have this uneasy feeling why it happened in the first place. I was very concerned if it was going to be the alternator which can be very expensive for my kind car but thankfully it checked out fine.
I have not had time to have the Geek Squad look at my phone. I cannot fo the life of me get my Google Account on the new phone. I am so very hesitant to change the password but that may be what I need to do. All the YouTube videos make it look so easy but that has not happened for me.
We have had lots of rain and I need to get to the pharmacy as I finally got my doctor's prescription with his signature on it. Another period or rain is coming so I need to leave quickly.
I hope your thumb heals quickly. My insurance will pay for the tow up to a certain amount and he charged that very same amount so I haven't had a chance to even deal with that yet. On a very happy note the price of my expensive phone dropped $130 and Amazon has a policy with cellphones if that happens within 14 days of purchase they will refund the difference. It requires a phone call. UGH I hope that works out better than trying to reach Tracfone.
Take care. I hope your garden is doing well. Once our dust storm hit our temps really dropped so it has been chilly here for a few days.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, it's concerning when a technician is unable to reproduce a car's starting issue. I hope the issue was just a one-off and won't repeat in the future.
Several years ago my car would randomly not start. I was quite concerned about driving and getting stranded someplace. Thankfully an error code was thrown and recorded by the onboard computer. Turns out a sensor was malfunctioning, and the motor wasn't detecting gear alignment. Once the sensor was replaced, the car ran like a top.
Your long-awaited medical appointment is tomorrow. I'm praying that it goes very well for you.

Hershey, yes my long awaited apt will finally happen with the PA tomorrow and the ENT next Wed. I had a mid afternoon dental apt way out of town today and she for the first time seeing me had to repair two fillings. My dentist retired and I never got the email and so I was left in an awkward situation when I saw him last. He had this very young lady come in to meet me. So I guess he was handing me off to her.
I then had an HOA meeting tonight and not sure if I was going to be able to talk with all the numbing agent but it worked out fine. After the long meeting with the closed session and then with the homeowners present I could tell that not only did my two front bottom teeth feel scratcy but in the inside of my skin near my lower teeth it looked like the sanding tool hit my skin and it also feels very scratchy and very red. So I have another situation I need to deal with…. a decision whether this young lady is the right choice for me.
Regarding my car, yes I am very uneasy about the whole thing. One thing that was odd is after my detailer had finished with my car recently he had turned my car light switch to off. When I realized that I wasn't exactly sure where I had positioned it before but I picked the correct one. There is another switch near it that which regulates the fog lights which I didn't even know and had never used them before. When the tow truck guy got my car started on the way to the dealer I noticed that the fog icon was on the dashboard. So when I mentioned this to the tech that took care of me at the dealer he said the fog light SHOULD have turned off since you were in auto mode for the other switch. I am wondering if it never turned off and I am surprised he didn't think that could have been the culprit. I apparently had not driven the car much since Jan 16 when I had a new battery put in after the same thing happened that day. He said I had only driven 1000 miles since then. I really had a hard time believing that was true but I guess it was. I knew the whole time I have been sick I certainly didn't drive like I usually do which is still not much these days. So that is the story.
Tonight I have been a bit upset after our HOA closed session. We had our VP quit with a whole year left of her term. This lady had been on the board for 32 yrs. Anyway I have been known as the Director at large. The president said we never voted on positions after our elections in Feb. I guess legally we need a VP so the president talked me into doing that besides my landscaping job. He said it would be in name only. Yeah, I heard that story when he twisted my arm to get on the board initally. So I am a bit concerned. Acttually this person that quit really did not do much at all the whole time I have been on the board.
I have spent some part of this evening going through many YouTube videos regarding Dysfunction of the Eustachian Tube. It is not as easy to diagnose as I had thought. So I wanted to educate myself and not wanting to go in cold as everything I tell her will be very critical in diagnosing because there are two opposite things that could be happening and their treatments are totally opposite. I'm feeling some pressure now.
Thanks for remembering and I would definitely appreciate prayers for wisdom for this PA apt. on Thursday and for my decision regarding new dentist. She did say if any edges were sharp to call and she would get me in and deal with that.
Also thanks for the AAA suggetion. One of the board members suggested that as well and said she used to work for them.
It is very late and I must get to bed. My new phone is still an issue hanging over my head as I have not had time to make an apt with the Geek Squad yet.
Take care.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, you are dealing with so many issues at once, and I pray you can get them all sorted out, and I am concerned about you physically too. HOAs are a lot of work. We were just informed today of a $25,000 special individual assessment for our condo in San Diego, due July 1st. The building is 50 years old and some of the posts for the walkways need to be completely replaced. There are four floors all with outside entrances to the 40 units. (California style.) The wear and tear of the salt water climate does a lot of damage and has caused rotting. This will take all of our annual profit for the rental unit. It is a good thing we cancelled a recent doorway upgrade we were hoping to get done in our current home in Colorado Springs so we can pay for it.
I had a tough PT appointment yesterday but I know it is helping me. I am more mobile and have better balance. Hopefully today I can accompany my DD to my granddaughter's school for a "lunch with family" event. Tomorrow is the last day of school for her and we drew the last possible slot to do this. I want to do as much as I can while I still feel able. I have an oncology appointment later today just to check on the progress of my new meds, and a dental cleaning tomorrow so I am sure I will be extra fatigued this weekend.
My DD has suddenly been hit with back pain. It is difficult when he is laid up as he does all of the heavy housework lately. I will need to do more until we can get him sorted out. We are hoping to smoke a turkey on Monday. It has been in our freezer for awhile and needs to get used. It is already thawing so we have to cook it. My DH handles the smoker but I suppose I can do it if I need to. Fortunately we did not invite any company so it will be just the four of us.
Take care dear friends. I hope you can enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.
0 -
Oh my, Chris. That is a very high special assessment. Loss assessment coverage under your condo insurance policy may help absorb some of the expense. Ours covered a special assessment when common areas of the building were damaged by a storm. I especially hope your husband's back pain subsides and you both enjoy the long holiday weekend with your family.
Dear Nancy, your plate is becoming very full. I'm praying that relief is just around the corner. May the new HOA job title be "in name only" and not add many more responsibilities to your already busy schedule. I do hope that today's appointment was encouraging and productive. Please take care.

Thanks Hershey—I had forgotten about loss assessment insurance. I know we just updated that last month so perhaps we can get some help.

Nancy, praying that your appointment today was productive and helpful, also praying for all the other issues you have going one now and that they are soon straightened out and most of all that you are feeling better.
Chris, continuing in prayer for you and the new meds and that you are feeling stronger and praying for your DH and DD that they are feeling better too.
Hershey, I am sorry to hear about your thumb, that sounds very painful and I know a thumb is all important for doing things. Praying that you are doing well and your thumb heals nicely.
I'm still struggling with shingle pain, it's been about 3 weeks now and most people that have had them say they had a lot of pain for about 5 weeks. I went to the eye doctor for a follow up today and got so sick in there with nerve pain along side my head, it was so severe I thought maybe it was something else like a stroke or something. But my nurse friend went out to get a nurse to come in and she said right away no that is what shingle pain does. They were all so nice and brought in water, some crackers and an ice pack. It was so painful I was getting sick to my stomach. The eye doctor did say the eye is still inflamed but getting better. So I can use the prednisone drops 3 x day instead of 4 and the anti shingle pill is still out to jury if I should continue that yet or not. I would encourage everyone to just go get that shingles vaccine. My nurse friend has been so helpful and that is really nice.
Praying for you all.
Love, Wheatfields

I am going to try to keep this brief as I am so exhausted I can't see straight. Very little sleep last night.
Wheatfields, I am so sorry you are having such a horrible time with the shingle's pain. I thought the anti shingles drug was only something like 7 days. They used to say if you didn't start those meds asap then they would not work but that has been a long time ago. I had more trouble with fatigue the first time I had it and that lasted for a long time but I don't recall the pain lasting as long as your situation. I am praying right now for you!
Chris, that is some special assessment. Good grief. I do hope what Hershey said regarding your insurance will help out with that. I'm sorry to hear that both you DH and DD are having challenging physical issues. I am glad your PT is helping even though it is difficult during the sessions. Your turkey in the smoker sounds wonderful. This has been such a challenging week I completely forgot it was Memorial Weekend.
Hershey, I hope your thumb is healing well. Can you still garden with your thumb being injured? Yes, I already know how busy I have been with being on the HOA board. The president assured me that me being VP is only in name only. I hate to say this but the person who had this position really did nothing that I could see the whole time I have been on the board. Our HOA financial company is actually doing some of the VP work for us so I just hope that is true.
Well, you won't believe this one as if my list of challenges were not enough already. I saw my new very young dentist yesterday for the first time. I don't have a lot of cavities but I had two on my bottom front teeth. I gave her a head's up that I take a lot of pain numbing so that played out that way. She was very nice and said if you have any rough edges to let her know and I could come back. With my HOA meetings last night I didn't have a lot of time to think about how my numbing agent had finally left. My two teeth felt like sandpaper and the skin below the teeth also felt like sandpaper. It was fiery red. Today it was worse. I have not called her yet as I am seriously wondering if I trust her at this point as I have never had anything like that happen in my whole life with dentists. Her sanding tool obviously accidentally hit my skin.
My apt with the PA went very well today. This young lady was very good and I really liked her. She looked over the past notes and showed me the CT scan of my sinuses which I never got to see. She didn't see anything looking bad in my ears but she had me get a timp. (forget the name) test from the audiologist. Things looked normal. She said I may be dealing with post viral issues and that they could possibly go on for a while. The good news is if I have dysfuction of the Eustachian Tube it is mild. I asked her if there would be any reason to keep my apt next week with the ENT and she said not really. She said I could cancel up to the day before. I may cancel tomorrow as I know many people like me were waiting for a long time to see him. She said if things get work in the next few weeks to reach out to my primary doctor.
I couldn't sleep from the stress of everything so I am so exhausted. I tried to make an apt with the Geek Squad tonight and they transferred me to a Samsung customer line without telling me. They don't deal with Samsung phones apparently so I decided I would say I need to change my password in my computer with my Google Account as that is the issue and just happen to have my phone there to see if it helped. If not I can either talk to my neighbors who are very phone savy and ask them to help. I can always call back the Samsung hotline but I really don't like to deal with these issues on the phone.
Can you believe that my car wouldn't start today. However, I bought a new purse a few months ago and my car sometimes doesn't "see" my car fob when it is in this new purse. That is all it was. I was so relieved when it finally started.
So with my "short" email which apparently is just not possible with me I will sign off and wish everyone a good Memorial Weekend.
Love,
Nancy

Wheatfields, I am so very sorry that the shingles virus is causing such pain and discomfort. I'm thankful that you are under the good care of your nurse friend and medical staff. I pray for pain relief and your complete healing from the infection.
Nancy, please keep your appointment with the ENT. You've patiently waited to see a specialist, and meeting your new doctor may be beneficial if circumstances change in the future. Getting a second opinion can be helpful and reassuring.

Teka and Hershey,
I've been praying for wisdom in what to do. I was initially going to cancel and then I realized that I didn't even discuss any surgical procedures with the PA but she did mention tubes in the ears in her summary as a treatment possiblity. So I am leaning on keeping the ENT apt. now because I want to see what surgical options are possible. I really preferred the balloon surgery if it comes to that but we'll see. I can cancel up to 24 hrs but at this point I am probably going to keep the apt. Thank you both for your input.
Wheatfields, how is your pain today? Praying that it will leave soon!!!!
Take care everyone and have a safe weekend.
Love,
Nancy
