Dear Nancy, that is truly a beautiful picture of Cammie, I'm glad you shared with us about your day and how the Lord answered prayer. It is truly like losing a loved one and yes, I believe the feeling was mutual. The Lord will walk beside you all the way, I just noticed Chris's verse above Psalm 91:1-2 we will be praying that for you as well and sending you love and hugs.

Thank you dear sisters. It has been a whirlwind since coming home. My neighbor came over with flowers and a card and took all of Cammie's things out to the curb. She stayed for quite a while and then her husband came over and temporarily fixed my door handle. She had texted him and I didn't realize it. He also found a match where I can buy a new one and they took a picture of the name of the door so that was all very helpful. They love their cute little dog so much plus she would take care of Cammie when I was downstate after we sold my Mom's house. She would come to my house and be sure she had food and water. So they know how much our pets mean to us. Then my other neighbor texted me and said his cat could use Cammie's carrier so I said sure take it. So thank you again for your prayers. Wheatfields, thank you for pointing out Chris's verse. I love that Psalm and has been a great comfort to me over the years. I feel very much loved during this most difficult time but I know it is going to take time to adjust to really living alone here. I have been here for 34 years now and during that time I have only gone a very few weeks without a pet. I want to have some time to travel and I may have already mentioned this but Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park are places I have wanted to go to photography for several years. I need to go while I can. I don't have a REAL ID licsense yet so I would have to do that as I doubt if I would drive. I would have to rent a car.
Thank you again. BTW I always used to say what Cammie lacked in good behavior (especially at the vet) she made up for in good looks LOL

Nancy

Dear Nancy, Cammie is a beautiful kitty. Thank you for sharing her photos and story with us.
I pray that your heart will be filled with sweet memories of Cammie.

Thank you Hershey. I have already thought about many things about her I had about forgotten. Hopefully all those memories won't bring heart ache eventually like they do now. I know time is the wonderful healer with God. I'll just have to take one step at a time. It has only been one day so I know I can't expect too much on the first day even though I started the day being very grateful that I had Cammie as long as I did and thinking in those terms really helped me. My neighors and friends and family have all been great. All of Cammie's things that my neighbor hauled for me were all gone by the time I got my garbage out very late. I was tickled about that, and I am glad someone else can use them,
Well I am exhausted from an emotionally charged day. I need to get to bed, Did you ever get your biopsy results yet?
Take care. Have a good night. Thank you for your prayers and concern,.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, thank you for that post. So true. As a memorial I opted for a paw print of her.

Nancy, you have a servant's heart. Even in the midst of your heartache for Cammie, you are thinking of others.
Yes, I just received the biopsy results: transient acantholytic dermatosis, an itchy skin condition that is not dangerous. The most important thing is to stay cool since sweating may induce more itchy skin spots. Time to lower our AC temperature, I guess.
With love and gentle hugs,

Hershey, thank you for your kind words. I am very glad to hear that your biopsy result was not serious but anything itching becomes a big deal whether it is serious or not. As a vegetable gardener staying sweat free in the middle of a very hot summer is something I imagine you would have prefered not hearing. I put my AC down probably lower than I ever have more for Cammie than for me as she liked to sleep in my bedroom during the day. I just recently got my electric bill and I was actually surprised that it was not all that much more. I think my fairly new windows have helped also. So I think now it is just me I will keep it low and enjoy the cool air.
My sister and her husband are visiting my niece, their daughter in Iowa. She has a 100 acre farm though not a farmer. My sister and niece love the outdoors. Unfortunately my sister has been miserable with as she said huge mosquito bites, chiggar bites and itching like crazy. Then she saw a dark spot on her leg last night and it was a tick! Her daughter is still working so she went to bed quite early and my sister wasn't quite sure what to do but found some tweezers and got it off of her. My niece got bitten by a tick a few years ago and was diagnosed with Lyme disease but was put on some antibiotics immediately and has seemed to feel no adverse effects. I just hope my sister doesn't end up with that situation. As a young child I was visiting my cousins and we were out playing in the timber as we called it. I remember my aunt finding a tick in my ear. This particular aunt who had seven children was as calm as a cumcumber all of the time. She got a needle and heated it up on the stove a very carefully got the tick out of my ear. Oh my. I guess we all have stories to tell!!
Benadryl is what my sister got and hopefully you will find something like which will work for you.
Love,
Nancy

Teka, LOL
I am going to the fireworks but scrambling to get things done first. I was just about to post a July 4th banner.
Have a safe 4th everyone.

It's thundering and raining but is supposed to stop in a half hour. Hopefully it watered the dry brush enough and slowed the illegal fireworks and didn't just delay them until a later time. My DH is on the deck ready to light the fire for me just in case there is something to see. The temperature is already in the 60s.
0 -
We are wide awake. The neighbors are lighting firecrackers and bottle rockets. Some of the explosions sound like mortars! It's going to be a very long night…
0 -
Here too. The fire department has strategically placed their trucks around town until 11:00. I hope it ends then…
0 -
Chris, our local fire department responded to 14 fires last night. Firefighters were so busy that the phone operators told callers to use their own garden hoses. Callers were reporting fireworks at 5:30 this morning! I hope the firefighters and operators are able to get some rest today. I fear that tonight may be a repeat performance for these brave men and women.

Hershey, wow@ as far as we know there was only 1 fire last night in a different subdivision (my DH is volunteer chaplain and can see the calls.) It was crazy last night. We were surrounded last night.
We are eating a late breakfast on the deck.

Hi ladies,
My neighbors have been into fireworks big time ever since they moved in 18 or more years ago. Now the son who just graduated from HS is taking over. I had a little chat with him as I was out late watering. He had several of his buddys over and they were all shooting them off. I said your buddies may not be as experienced as you are shooting these off. I said if you set my roof on fire………. he said I am watching them. I talked him into going out into the empty lot adjcent to our backyards. They were really loud and I am so grateful Cammie did not have to endure that.
Chris your late breakfast looks amazing. My good friend I went to the fireworks with last night has her brothers family that lives in Denver. She talked about how the seasons are so different from here. I think she said there are two seasons……spring and winter. I didn't realize how chilly it would get at night in the summer. I was telling her about you moving there from San Diego.
Hershey, I'm sorry you were kept awake. The teenagers next door were polite enough to stop before 10 tonight.
I gave a tribute to Cammie on Nextdoor with the picture I posted here. I was absolutely bowled over at the tremendous outpouring of love. There are obviously many cat and pet lovers out there. I had it posted to everywhere so many may have made comments that I can't see. There were over 14 thousand views and people are still posting. I replied to every single comment because I thought if these people can take time on a holiday weekend to write such lovely things the least I can do is write back. It took me a very long time but it was worth it. It was actually very cathartic. So far there have been 268 reactions and 215 comments (half of those being mine). This all just blew me away. Initially I was just in tears reading them and I couldn't even respond for a while.
I have been very busy being away to the fireworks and then today our Bible study teacher invited three of us plus many of her Mom's friends to this very nice Greek restaurant to help her mom celebrater her birthday. I think there was around 40 of us. We had a really good time. The birthday girl was 95. We learned many things about this lady. I was mistaken about her skydiving at 90. It was actually at 80 and we got to see the video of her doing it. Remarkable. Some one had a tierra and a sash and put it on her and she was so beautiful she looked like Miss America. I found out she used to be a model as well as an ordained preacher. She stood up and gave a little sermon and had many of us in tears. From working in the cotton fields in Alabama to doing ministry in the prisons to driving an 10 wheeler across country she has has quite the life.
So being distracted with people was just what I needed though coming home last night after the fireworks to an empty has was very difficult.
I love the 4th of July but I hope all of the illegal fireworks happenings will diminsh. Our police force has there hands full with these huge group of teenagers doing what they call a flash mob and causing all sorts of havoc. One of my neighbor's nephew works at a grocery store on the night shift in another town and a big group of teenagers came in all caused all sort of grief. That was the first time I heard the term flash mob in a negative way. I knew of the singing and dancing flash mobs but I had never heard of this destruction being caused now. We had an incident downtown where the police were able to put a stop to it before it got out of hand.
I hope you all have a restful Sunday and a quiet one.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I haven't heard of a negative flash mob before either. I don't watch the news or even read much online anymore, so I am not up to date of those things. I am sorry to hear of such negative behavior. One of our neighbors has been setting off fireworks tonight non-stop for over an hour now. It is really annoying. They are really loud. I don't handle stress well anymore and these types of things annoy me more. I try to let it go but I can tell I am irritated. I would just shut up the house and play loud music but it is really warm tonight and I really want to enjoy the breeze. I am going to try to go to bed and lay under the ceiling fan for a while.
I am glad you received a good response for Cammie. She was so special.

Chris, the scene from your balcony is lovely and the breakfast looks delicious. Pancakes are our weekend breakfast staple, too!
Nancy, I'm so happy that your tribute to Cammie received an outpouring of support and affection. I've noticed that many animal lovers post on my local Nextdoor. Several ladies volunteer at area rescue/adoption organizations. They regularly post announcements and pictures of puppies and kittens that are ready for adoption. The responses from Nextdoor readers are overwhelmingly positive. One post caught my eye last week: a black-and-white American Curl kitten was up for adoption. What an adorable breed! NUMEROUS people inquired about adopting her.
I was outside yesterday watering dry spots in the yard. The neighbor across the street started lighting loud firecrackers. It was 4:30 in the afternoon! He continued off and on until almost midnight. I hope he used up his stockpile for this year. It's been an exhausting weekend for people and their pets.

Chris, I just looked up the new flash mob and they are calling in a flash rob. I had only heard about it from a fellow HOA board member. Then I had heard of one in our the downtown area of our city. Last night was pretty maddening for me too. How these people can get away with the loud fireworks that sound like bombs is beyond me. I didn't even go out to fill one of my bird feeders because these guys were hanging out basically in my backyard. I was watering my flowers and the young guy from next door realized I was not too happy. He was polite enough to say they would wait until I went inside to shoot off the really loud ones. That is when I talked to him in a way that he knew I was not happy with them doing this so close to my house. I am just glad Cammie did not have to endure another weekend of this. Fireworks are all illegal in Illionois unless you have a permit to have them for a big event. That doesn't seem to matter anymore.
Hershey, I have never heard of an American Curl so I just looked it up. It says it is a fairly new breed with ears curling backwards. So unique!! The Scottish Fold is a breed with ears that lay down where their face looks almost owl like. I just checked my email and there are more and more comments from my Cammie post. There is obviously many cat lovers out there. I am not sure where my post goes when I choose everywhere but I suppose if you might see my post with the pic of Cammie. They have revamped our Nextdoor just recently but we used to get popular posts from everywhere and we would get lots of pictures from CA and CO.
I'm sorry you had to endure the noise for hours on end. It has been very quiet today so I am enjoying the peace. We had a bit of rain and it is very humid and not quite so hot.
Would you believe I have NEVER fixed pancakes. I don't go out to eat much anymore but usually lunch dates with friends. I will order gluten free pancakes and they are so good. I am dieting so it is not a great thing for me to eat very much but when I do order them it is a real treat.
Have a nice weekend everyone.
Love,
Nancy

Hi ladies,
Is everyone doing okay this week? I leave tomorrow for AZ to visit my sister and BIL. Will be praying for you all while I'm gone.

Hi Wheatfields,
I have been praying for you for your trip that your nerve pain would be manageable or gone. I pray that you have a safe trip and a good visit with your sister.

Wheatfields, have a good visit with your sister.
Nancy, how are you doing?
One of my good friends passed on Thursday. He had been battling multiple myeloma and was just starting his second chemo round when he threw a blood clot on the fourth, and then went into sepsis. It was so quick... Our financial advisor passed on Tuesday after being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer on Monday. So many good friends that are not even on this site. My DH is going in for an MRI and biopsy of his prostate next month. I appreciate your prayers. He is a little shook from the news of our friends.
It is cold here today at only 57°, It should climb a little but I doubt it will get past the 60s. I plan on staying in!

Wheatfields, I hope you have a safe trip to and from Arizona and that the pesky Shingles virus is no longer a nuisance. No doubt your sister and brother-in-law are looking forward to spending time with you.
Chris, I am so sorry to read about the very sudden passing of your good friend and financial advisor. It is understandable that your husband has been shaken by the news, and I am praying that he receives favorable test results next month.
My husband has been helping a friend build a new deck. Yesterday afternoon he asked when his next tetanus booster was due (it's this October). Turns out a rusty old nail went through his hand, so first thing Monday morning he's off to the pharmacy for a vaccination.

Chris, I am so sorry to hear about your good friend and your financial advisor both passing away. It is so hard when things happen so quickly and unexpectedly. I will certainly be praying for your DH as he has a biopsy coming up. So many things all at once to deal with. Prayers for both of you.
I have had a rough couple of days. I put together an Andirondack chair and it was very difficult for me. I assembled it over a three day period. I knew I was having trouble with my surgery leg and would have to stop and reposition it. Then I went to an outdoor band concert on Thursday night. This is the band I used to play in and was the assistant conductor many years ago. One of my good friends and former adult clarinet student was being honored for being in the band for 50 yrs. Some friends invited me to go with them. Bad storms were predicted so we canceled and then it looked like the sun was coming out and then we decided to go at the last minute. We no longer got our chairs in place and it started raining. Long story short the concert was canceled because of lightning but they invited the family and friends to come inside the concert center so we did. They performed a shortened version of the concert with all of us standing around. My friend's kids came from three different states to be there so I am glad they got to see their Dad perform. I have never witnessed a concert standing behind the percussion section but I wanted to be their for my friend's big night. It was a long time standing and yesterday I couldn't barely walk as my knee was swollen. So I have been icing the past two days and feeling down about Cammie and my knee. I also fell in my driveway on Wed carrying out a very heavy bag of kitty litter which didn't help either.
Hershey, I am sorry to hear about your husband doing a good deed in helping a friend build a deck that turned into a nasty nail through the hand episode. I am glad he will be getting a tetanus shot soon. How is your itching skin condition?
Teka, I am praying for your procedure on Wed. that everything goes smoothly.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, I'm glad that you saw your former music student perform on Thursday night. Fifty years playing in the same band is an impressive milestone. I hope that some rest and ice brings down the swelling in your knee and pray that you were uninjured from the spill in your driveway.
When my dermatologist removed the mole on my abdomen, she cauterized the area. That scab has sloughed off. A slight red ring remains, but the skin itching has subsided. I'm counting that as a big win.
0 -
Hershey, I am glad the mole removal went well. It seems like we all have a variety of medical small nuisance issues that need attention as we age…argh!
Nancy, take care of yourself! I remember you battling with the Adirondack chairs from when they were delivered in your driveway and now a tough assembly and heavy lifting fall. Way too much! Attending the music concert must have been a real joy. The good friend who just passed was the music Director of the university where I retired. He was a gifted musician as a pianist, choral director, and composer. He and his wife lived in the same condo complex where we lived. He will be greatly missed.

I don't have Dr Jackson's obituary yet, of course, but here is his bio if you are interested.
0 -
Hershey, I am glad to hear you have no more itching. The ever present ring is interesting. I guess you could pretend it is a small tattoo. I am amazed at all the people that have them now and ones that I never ever would have thought they would go and get one.
I rested for a couple of days and iced and elevated my surgery knee that I was so fearful I had torn the meniscus again. I can walk now but very gingerly. I did go back to one of my knee exercises and I suppose I should do many of them just to be on the safe side. My other knee that I fell on is sore. I don't know if I landed on the 40lb bag of kitty litter or on my driveway but I remember seeing black places on my knee and around my ankle so I knew I landed with my good leg and knee.
Chris, yes that is the same Andirondack chair as my saga of it being delievered to my driveway instead of my porch. When my neighbor came over she said you would surely have known if your car went over this big box. She said she bet it was damaged before it was even delivered. I had messaged the seller (on Amazon) and I told them I could not assemble the chair in this heat wave and I had no floor space to do it inside. Then after I got rid of Cammie's cat condo I had more room so I then messaged them again saying I had to have my cat put down and I would get to it soon. So the pressure was on. I told me sister the lady that wrote a review and said she put it together in 15 minutes I said she was a very big liar or she was wonder woman.
My sister just asked me today if it will fit through my patio door. It is still in my living room because there were a couple of screws I just could not get tight enough and I was going to ask my neighbor if he could do that for me. I don't dare get down on my hands and knees right now.
Now you all know why my Mom always used to say you could write a book. LOL I did write a tribute to Cammie on this Nextdoor app and posted the same pic I posted of her and I am still getting comments on that post. I have about 360 some reactions, 268 comments and 19.4 thousand views from outside our area. It boggles my mind and it has been very comforting reading all the caring posts from most people I don't even know.
I read your friends bio. I get a sense of people by looking at their picture and he looks like he was a really nice guy and a very impressive musician and music director. It is so hard to lose friends, family and pets.
My adult student that was honored was a VERY smart guy. He was an engineer for many years before retiring. He would help me with my computer issues back in the day. He just lost his wife three years ago and I am so proud of him that he has been able to move forward and he joined the Men's Glee Club he used to sing in and has continued with our community band and has played his clarinet with his church choir which he is a member. Before I bought my current house which was my first house ever, he went through the house with me and gave me his opinion on things. The house was only five yrs old so it was like new to me. He and his wife came over once I got settled in and she being a fantastic gardener along with him said she would recommend me planting two shade trees in my back yard. I took her advice and now those trees provide shade for my whole backyard. Hopefully once I get my Andirondack chair through my pation doors (please fit) I can take advantage of the shade they now provide.
Have a good night everyone.
Love,
Nancy

Hi Teka,
So glad everything went well. Staying cool in your recliner sounds like what I am going to do soon. No pain is awesome. I hope this helps all of your vein issues.
I just got out of the shortest HOA meeting tonight. We had a closed session and then the open session was not a lot of things brought up by the homeowners so I can relax. We had tornado warnings this afternoon and a pretty hard rain with wind that came through but thankfully no damage that I can see.
I will pick up Cammie's paw print tomorrow. I am bringing goodies that I have ordered and I wrote the vet and her staff a long heartfelt thank you for all the work with Cammie that they have done. I included that last pic I posted of her. They sent me a nice card with everyone signing it. I felt like I made a whole new set of friends since Cammie was a regular monthly patient. I will miss them and it has been an emotional day for me getting ready for my visit tomorrow.
I hope you all have a good night.
Love,
Nancy

I just received word my Auntie is in ICU in Phoenix. She had a good part of her intestines removed. She is the last one on my mom's side of that generation—the matriarch. Thank you for your prayers. I wish I could travel to see her but that won't happen…
0 -
Chris, I am so sorry to hear about your Auntie. I pray that she will be able to recover from this huge surgery. I will pray for you for peace as I know you would like to be there but are not able to go to AZ.
Love,
Nancy

Chris, praying that your Auntie receives comfort and care as she recovers from major surgery.
