Thank you all for the warm welcome. I really appreciated all of the prayers as driving was especially nerve racking in and around Salt Lake City. I was so totally wiped out yesterday that I had to miss my Bible Study and was dozing off and on all day. My bags are still not unpacked. These are a couple of pics from my cellphone. I haven't uploaded my pics from my big camera so time will tell. They always say that photographs are to tell a story. I don't know if the magnificence I felt comes through but truly it was just that. It was actually 12 1/2 yrs ago that Lisa from So Cal (on BCO) who was a great photographer shared some Bryce Canyon photos and from that point on I wanted to go there myself. The hoodoos are like nothing I have ever seen in the US or for that matter the world. I am so blessed to be able to travel at 75 with the issues that I have recently had but the Lord kept me throughout the whole adventure.
Chris, I am sorry to hear of your chemo day that you thought was going to be an easy affair. My day back on Monday was like that. We push forward with the Lord's help and look back and think how did I ever get through that. I do hope you are feeling the good days now after your infusion. When I hear of your sorrow concerning your grandchildren I can only imagin how that was heartbreaking to you. I am glad you have had your granddaughter now to give you hugs and know how special you are.
Cheryl, I am glad that your granddaughter finally was able to cuddle up with you in the end. I am so glad you are finished with radiation treatments now.
Hershey, how has your temps been where you are. SLC was so hot when I first arrived. I finally got to experience what dry heat feels like. It was just plain hot and I had to carry my 40 0z Stanley cup with me everywhere I went. You probably laughed at me being surprised with the open range for the animals and about almost hitting a cow. After googling it, it sounds like there are several states out West that have that same thing. The thing about driving in rural Utah besides all of the sharp curves is they had beautiful wildflowers in big bushes right up against the road and you could not always see the cows. I can' t imagine at night how in the world the people do that with deer and sheep and cows. I can see how it feels like the Wild West.
Wheatfields, how are you doing. My sister is starting to have "issues" and it breaks my heart. She still hasn't responded to my text that I got home. Her daughter, my niece, has been traveling solo for three weeks throughout New Mexico. Doing some tent camping in CO right now on her way home to Iowa so I know my sister is concerned for her too. I have not said a word about my suspicions to my niece but the fact she has made several trips to see my sister and her husband in IL tells me a lot. How is your leg doing? I hope better.
Teka, I am a bit worried about you. You usually tell me when you are taking a break from the forum but you didn't do that this time. I hope it is just that you are enjoying the end of summer and enjoying eating at your favorite diner with your DH.
I need to go pick up my organic chicken I order every week from Whole Foods and get some grocery shopping in. Now back to healthy eating. My plans completely changed when I had to switch hotels because of the wildfires in Utah that affected the hotel I was to stay at. I had it all planned out to go to their Market and then buy a cheap cooler and get my veggies for my salads and smoothies but none of that worked out with my hotel change and the long drive from SLC to Bryce Canyon. Some days I existed on protein bars and not healthy foods. So now back to my more healthy regimen.
I am not proof reading this so sorry for any errors. I have to eat a protein bar (LOL) for breakfast and go to Whole Foods.
Love,
Nancy

Chris, what a long and frustrating experience for you with the lab and hospital. Pastor John has recounted similar experiences at his cancer center: various delays in treatments, miscommunications between providers, appointment cancellations, etc. Not sure if these situations are results of lack of training, staffing shortages, or something else, but small annoyances can quickly add up to stressful situations for patients. I'm praying that your subsequent infusions proceed without any glitches.

Nancy, what fun photos! I can see how much you enjoy the scenery and am glad that your trip was so worthwhile. Now tell me, when do you leave on your next adventure?! :-)
I too am concerned about Teka's absence from our group. I hope that all is well and she's just taking a break from social media. I also hope that you hear from your sister and that she is okay.
Our temperatures are still high for mid- to late-August. We could have really used some of Utah's monsoon moisture. We may receive some showers this weekend but still too soon to tell. I am so ready for autumn!

Pleased you were able to have an adventure of a lifetime.
I'll be looking forward to seeing many pics.

August has been a blur for tick magnet me. The deer finally got me! ☹️
I was admitted to the hospital because I had a serious infection from tick-borne illnesses (septic shock from babesiosis and Lyme disease). While I were in the hospital, I needed fluids and medicine to help my blood pressure. I got antibiotics to treat the infections. My blood counts are still low, but they are now stable.
I returned home with the following new medicines.
Doxycycline: for babesiosis and Lyme disease
Azithromycin: for babesiosis and Lyme disease
Atovaquone: for babesiosis
I had a follow-up appointment with my PCP. Receiving excellent care.
Daily, gaining strength and balance. Weaning off a walker.
Appetite has been 🤪. Tomorrow, husband serving-up Dungeness crab for dinner. 😋
I pray one and all are blessed with less stress and suffering. 🙏

Hi Teka,
I am so sorry to hear what all you have gone through. You are on enough meds to hopefully knock out the parasites. I had to look up babesiosis as I had never heard of that. My niece several years ago was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She noticed the classic bullseye rash and got in immediately to her pcp. She has done well all these years later. In fact she is on a 3 week vacation through New Mexico and now tent camping in Colorado on her way home to Iowa. Because they caught hers so early she has faired very well and has always been pretty high energy. She is 57 yrs old. I pray that you will be able to gain strength and that your meds will knock out the sickness you have had. I didn't have my laptop with me my whole vacation so I am just now catching up on things. I thought maybe you were just taking a break but you usually tell me when you are doing that so I was getting concerned about you. I am glad you have posted but I sure am sorry to hear of your hosptial stay and knowing how sick you have been. I will pray that you will not suffer any longterm affects and that your appetite will come back. I know the ladies here will pray for you and your recovery as will I.
Hershey, I have already been thinking about a trip to Florida during the winter as I really don't like the darkness and cold of winter. I am not sure if I would venture driving all the way down or not. My car which still looks like new is now 11 yrs old but not many miles. My experience with the wheelchair assistance when flying was less than stellar overall. Chicago was okay but still I had to reach out for help when someone was supposed to be coming to help me preboard and never came. In Salt Lake City airport it was pretty much a nightmare. My car rental which was off site had a shuttle which dropped me off with all of my luggage on an outside bench in the heat. I was dressed for the cold air on the plane and had on long pants and a long sleeved top. He told me to call the number on the sign for wheelchair assistance. I was very early as I had to check out of my hotel at 11 am and my flight was not until 4:15. I emptied my water bottle after driving from my hotel to the rental place. My Google Maps lost connection and I was in a slight panic as I didn't know what to do and it looked like if I kept going I would end up on a highway for miles. I finally got my connection back and dropped off my rental. At this point I was getting thirsty. So when the shuttle dropped me off I couldn't go anyplace because I had three heavy rolling bags plus my heavy backpack. Plus I didn't dare just leave them unattended. I called two different times and the young lady I talked to had no idea where I was and neither did I to help explain. Finally I snagged a worker her made a call for me and at this point I was so thirsty I didn't know what was going to happen next. The worker left. I waited for 45 min before someone came for me. Finally a 17 yr old kid came who was the coordinator of the wheelchair assistance. He profusely apologized but that didn't help the fact I still needed water and a restroom. So with all of that said I would not have been able to manage all of my luggage through very long stretches inside the terminals but am not too confident in the system either. I think because I was so early getting to the airport that threw them off. They kept asking me to spell my name which didn't give me a lot of confidence. I sat in this very uncomfortable wheelchair for at least four hours. I am still having back pain and I think that is part of the reason plus the flight home. So as a very long answer to your question I would love to shoot some Florida wildlife in the winter. So time will tell. I bet you will be glad to see the autumn come. I can see why now.
Cheryl, I wish you all could see these hoodoos in person. They really do seem like people. The folklore is that the Native Indians living in the area believed in a Coyote God which they believed was not happy with the outsiders who carelessly depleted the resources of the land. As a punishment this God turned all of these outsider people into stone. They really do seem like groups of people when I would just take time to scour the whole panoramic view. Most of the people I encountered were from other countries and it was interesting watching them see the hoodoos for the first time. So your WOW was exactly what I was thinking when I would see these amazing views. The weather was not as cooperative as I would like to get either early or late pictures where the red rocks color would pop but I was still glad to get what I did in between all the rain.
Chris, I hope you are feeling better.
Wheatfields, I just saw an interview with Katy Couric and a doctor who has possibly made a legendary breakthrough in treating dementia. His experiment with mice was amazing. Actually the natural meds he talked about is something I took for years with my alternative doctor called Lithium Oratate. Not the same as the drug for bipolar. What I took was a mineral of sorts. If you can find it on YouTube I found it fascinating.
Have a good night dear sisters.
Love,
Nancy

Nancy, wow is right. I used wheelchair assistance every time I flew but only inside the terminal to the gate and plane and then on return to the luggage and outside to the shuttle area. I have never had a problem but I am an early person by nature and usually get a little antsy waiting for them as I believe if you are not early, you are late. lol I doubt I will ever fly again because I am mostly homebound and my DH won't fly again. Without him, I would be lost. I am so happy you took your trip and are planning another one. I have done extensive travelling in my life so I don't feel like I have missed out. There are lots of places I haven't visited, but that's okay at this point. The only place I really want to visit is to see my kids and grandkids, but that's not going to happen either.
My broken leg is healing very well. I am weaning off the walker although I still wear a brace during the day. It will slowly come off too as per doctor's permission. My chemo SEs are starting to kick in tonight so I will close.
Know I pray for each of the wonderful ladies on this forum as you post—I just don't always respond.
Blessings, Chris
