Good Morning Ladies, thanks for all your advice, I will certainly mention this to my onc. I am sure he has a reason that I am not getting this shot and with all the SE I have been reading about it not sure that I would want it now lol, think maybe waiting an extra few days for chemo is the better route for me, I dont mind putting off that hell for a couple extra days :)

Suze I am so jelous i would love to go to NYC, one day, my DH cheers for the NYR so we would have to go when they are playing, that would be soooo exciting of course the best NHL team is the Vancouver Canucks but we wont pop his little bubble lol.

Mitty muffin congrats that is fabulous news, high five doing a happy dance for you.

BK I am so sorry to hear that BC has reared its ugly head again, we are all here for ya sista one more time then kick that crap to the curb!!!!! I beleive you would still be considered triple neg from what I have read anyhow.

Hope the rest of you lovely ladies are having a great day, any big plans for Easter ?

    Hugs Kymn

    mitttymuffin -- Wonderful news!!!

Kyman - I didn't either shot. My oncologist said if the bloodwork indicated a need for the shot, he would order it.  But he explained how the timing of the shot and the bodies natural ability to regenerate blood cells overlapped so that it was difficult to know how valuable it was (this is my simplistic recall of the explanation).  I didn't need the shot and from reading of other people's experiences I was glad I didn't get it.

    Mitty - congrats!!!

Kymn - my onc insisted on me having the Neulasta shot but that might have been because I had Taxotere every three weeks.  As I recall Taxotere mainly affects the neutrophils. I asked if I could forego for the last round but he stressed he wanted me to have it. You might want to check for the "T" portion of your treatment.

I had Cytoxan & Taxotere every three weeks and never had the shots. Never had a problem either.

    mitymuffin:  Woohoo for clear mammo's!

karebear:  my last TC was 1/31/11.  It wasn't fun.  The whole ordeal of being dx with cancer... cancer, of all things! was unreal to me.  I remember I had to keep telling myself "you have cancer" for it to sink in.  No one on my mom's side had ever had BC or OV CA.  My dad's side was hugely unknown, but I know his mother never had BC.  My half sister (shared father) had BC, so I assumed it must come from his side.  Being BRCA+, I thought certainly my half sister would also test positive, but she tested negative!  So it's still a mystery.  The emotions your mom is facing are unlike anything I can describe, probably because until you go through something like this, you have nothing to compare it to.  I compare the emotions I went thru, and am still going thru, similar in nature to grief.  Fear, anxiety, sadness, terror, anger, and then moments of sheer joy when we get the slightest bit of good news!  It is truly something else.  Ask us whatever you need to as you try to help your mom... we're here for both of you.

My critter inventory consists of 2 welcomed cats that are the real residents of the house and they allow us to live there.  The unwelcomed visitors have been a baby possom about the size of a kitten, he was trying to eat or nurse on an orange that fell out of our tree.  We had a baby snake in the pool.  Numerous frogs have gone swimming only to discover they cant get out.  One spring we had a duck couple try to claim the pool as their own oasis for about a week!  Poop everywhere!  We found a 12 inch diameter turtle swimming one morning.  A three-legged dog appeared one day.  But the only thing that ever makes in the house are lizards and we have to get them out before the cats discover the new toys!

I had the BRCA test too and the results were ready in a couple weeks (negative).  I have no kids but I wanted the test because I wanted to remove my ovaries if I was BRCA positive.  They approved the test and covered the expense.

I had a Neulasta shot the day after every chemo treatment.  4xAC dd and 4xTaxol

So great to hear about the good test results!

BK- I too am 3% ER. I was treated as triple negative. My onc. said Tamoxifen would not do me any good. Why have the side effects if the medication won't help you!

Stop Sugar thread - that is funny  made me LOL!!! My hair looks likes your yours now, Sugar -- always had long straight hair, kinda enjoying this short sassy curly jazz !!

Mitymuffin - so exciting!! Happy Dance! 1 year - yessss!!!!  I had my 6 month all clear (well, minus the findings that I had a seroma along my scar - yay- but they aspirated it, and it has been resolving itself, thank goodness -- and the beginnings of truncal lymphedema -- kinda SUCKS, but better than the alternative...:) I am alive.  I have a crazy nutso new cool job.  I have a wonderful, handsome, cool friggin husband who hung in with me through the rough times.  Life is pretty good.

G'nite ladies.  One year ago, I was mid way through chemo, working full time, and muddling through and you kept me going.  Seriously. Thanks to everyone.  You all ROCK.

I am waiting for results of BRCA testing...hopefully next week. No close history, but have a sister and two daughters that this could impact. Hopefully I am just a random/sporadic or whatever they call it.

For Neulasta, because I am on a clinical trial I HAVE to get the shot, but was able to get it half-dose last week, so blood work better hold up this Friday to confirm my request!

    Heidi, OMG!

Congrats to all who have had good news, good family, good friends, and lotsa critters! I just have my Golden Retriever, Romeo (plus a DH, 2 DD, and DS, plus a new son-in-law!), but am hoping to get a puppy soon. (Maybe Mother's Day?) That was one thing I wanted to do FOR ME once all the canser crap started in January. I really need another thing to take care of, but they are easier than kids and at 50 am a little too old for that!

Compared to what we once had, this is very manageable. I use to do math problems with the younger ages when I would sub. "Mrs. F has 10 horses, 1 dog, 9 cats, 4 prairie dogs (etc. etc.)... how many animals does Mrs. F have living with her?". The highest number I ever got to was 44. Yep, forty four critters in my care from pygmy mice to stallions at one time.

Now though, it's just a few cats and dogs, 4 horses, 1 mini, 2 goats, a few chickens and the Korean ground squirrel (named Forest because all he does is run in his treadmill). We lost the 12 year old sugar glider and flying squirrels a few months ago. They were *cute*.

I guess for most of you this is still way over the top. But remember, I live on a farm so it is perfectly manageable and sane... I think.

When I had the horse breeding business I had 10 horses and *really* relied on the kids to help with the chores. I don't think they will *ever* own a horse because of it. I get ribbed all the time about the "cruel and unusual" punishment caring for horses was.

Swiftbird - I, too, had long straight hair.  Not sure if the curls will last but I'm enjoying them. Except when in DC recently.  It was very humid and the water at the hotel was different than at home so I had a lot of limpy frizz going on...definately a "glamor don't".

Ha, sugar, welcome to the insanity of curly hair.  I have naturally curly hair and the water quality really does make a difference.  I used to belong to a gym that was city of atlanta water (I live in a suburb) and it had the BEST water!  My hair always did so much better - less frizzy and very soft - when I washed it there.  It is so bizarre that it can make such a difference, isn't it?!

Count me in with the frizz hair!  That is why I'm keeping it short..just bought some gel that was supposed to keep it frizz free for 24 hours...didn't work..but with it short it's not that big a deal.  I use a flat iron to smooth it out...Sugar..your hair looks soo thick!

Now there is a thread about Sugar being Toxic..I wish they would leave her alone.

Toxic? Too funny...that's carry it far. I still get a kick out of my screen name being Sugar as it was my dad's lifelong nickname.  I was never ever Sugar until I needed a screename. Ironically something is stopping Sugar from seeing the thread because I got an error message when I tried to see the link!!

For frizz, I swear by Sally's Luster Cream. Yes, my hair is and has always been very thick.  It's a bit thinner on top than before but now I don't have to thin it as much so I'm good with that.

Whew - I made it home!  And I am pleased to say that I ate too much, spent too much, and one night, drank waaaaaay too much Tongue out.  My kids love going to NYC (we go every few months), and it was great staying on the park.  We got to the Natural History Museum for a new exhibit they have about the largest dinosaurs, hit up the Lego and Nintendo stores, and TRIED to go to the Central Park Zoo, but it was, well, a zoo, lol.  The line to get in was over an hour long, so we ended up just walking around the park and letting the kids hit the playground.  And DH and I got out for a grown up night which was great.

We definitely should have a meet up there next spring.  But not during NYC's spring break, lol!

Heidi - your houseguests sound wonderful!  I'm torn between my city-girl roots and my love of nature.  I spent time on my uncle's farm when I was growing up, and have always loved horses, cows, you name it, but I know how much work it is to care for them.

Today I meet with the RO to map out my radiation.  I'm anxious to get started, especially as this lymph node at my collarbone hasn't gone anywhere.  I know it is inoperable, so I will just have to hope we can get a plan together to zap it gone.  I swear, one of these days I'm going to catch this dang cancer by the tail and hang on to it.

Suze:  Sounds like you had an amazing good time in NYC!  I have only been there in the dead of winter and from what I remember it was crowded and freezing!  Keep yourself busy so you don't obsess and to help the time fly by.  The waiting is the hardest part I think.  Hugs!
