Hi girls, sorry I have not posted in a long time..... Just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is doing. I am still in remission - but my BFF is having a rough time. She had her bilateral mastectomy last Friday and still remains in the hospital.
so sad to see her suffer..... I wish she would log in and post here ..... Have a great day everyone. By the way I received an email from someone named Benita or Isatua .... YAY..NAAN...big relief isn't it...glad you are done...NOW...take it easy a little at first ok? but still enjoy the NO MORE CHEMO...wow..good stuff
obx...i have the jelly belly too..got it around chemo time...hasn't left...no matter what I do...some say crunches will work..but I don't know..sounds like alot of work to me...

Naan104... I first wanted to say what great news that you finished chemo! I can't wait to say that! I am so scared for this next part. My surgery is done and i am recovering nicely. I had my first fill today and it was not that bad. But to start chemo is scaring the crap out of me. I have been strong til now but every time I think of what I have yet to face I break down. Do you have any words of encouragement or knowledge now that you have been thru it? I just don't know what to do to get myself thru this next step :-(

Hey adgirl...oh yes about the freaking tumors just popping up over night....that is why I'm not too worried about seeing my onc every 6 mos. and having a mammogram every year...I had mammos every year since I was 36 and still the fc appeared between mammos...it's not like I'm against having a mammo..but I am not sure that they are the way to go for us tn's...I think we need something else....I think women with dense breasts need something else...mammos just don't cut it for us...

I got great news today, my tomographic mamogram is NORMAL! was diagnosed almost a year ago. Can you hear my sigh of relief, wow, feels wonderful right now. Need to focus on trying on a new normal.
obxk...we age, we get soft around the middle, heres praying it is nothing.

Painting... What is a "tomographic mammogram" as opposed to the ones we all know and love?
I agree that mammos don't necessarily help in detecting TNBC 'cause it grows so quickly. Unless you just happen to have a mammogram at a time when the tumor is large enough to detect but not so large that it is already a concern, it either doesn't find it or it is already at a dangerous stage. That is what happened to my younger sister - she had a clear mammogram and 7 months later found the tumour herself and the FC was already past the lymph nodes. Since I am high risk due to family history (but BRCA negative), I was taking part in a clinical drug trial and was getting annual MRIs - that is how mine was detected early. I am hoping that when this episode is done, I will still be able to get annual MRIs as well as mammograms, but I don't know if I will. That is what we all should be entitled to, having dealt with this FC once already.

Melissa, what are the chemo drugs of choice gonna be, when do u start? I had AC x 4 every 3 weeks then Taxol x12 every week.

Good evening. I've been married 26 years, have a 25 yr old son and a 23 yr old daughter. I had a clean mammogram in January of this year and had pain in one breast in april that turned out to be cancer. Yesterday I found out that it's TN. Its 3cm, was 2.1 last month. I also learned that TN is more aggressive in African-American women. Plus my English (white) grandmother had ovarian cancer. So I'm waiting for that genetic test, if positive everything goes, both breast and ovaries. Wow! My head is spinning with appointments, the idea of cancer, and heading to chemo in two weeks. I'm a strong 46 year old, but I'm scared, sad, mad, and confused.
I'm glad to read your success stories and see the support you give each other.

Victoria, the same thing happened to me. I had a clear mammo in Jan 2010 and found the lump myself in July 2010. The mammo did not catch it. It seems like you may be younger than me, I am 54. Are you pre-menopausal? I am just amazed at why cancer is attacking us when most of us are going through hormonal changes, which starts at around age 47. Do you have any positive lymph nodes? Please don't forget to fill in your DX on your account, so that when we talk we can see your diagnosis below your post.
We are all sad, mad, confused, angry at the toxic environment, angry at the ugly people who have polluted the world and how some suggest that cancer is caused by unhealthy living. I hate it so much when people talk to me about healthy eating. I just have so many swear words for them, even if they mean well. I do not fit into an unhealthy lifestyle, never did. But still this monster came into my body. I honestly hope that whoever made bad decisions (business executives) choosing profits over pollution go to hell. There are a large population of such human beings throughout the world who were either too dumb or just so money minded that they could not figure out that their own daughters and wives would be hurt by their decisions one day. The environment is the culprit for cancer, I have no doubt about that. I feel that the environment is toxic due to the very fast growth in every sector of life, especially cyber/technology type stuff. Whatever is going on in the environment has the ability to globaly warm the planet, imagine what it can do to a human body? I hear so many people these days either dying from cancer, or being diagnosed with all types of cancer. My executive director is going through a serious form of lymphoma, and the deputy executive director just got through treatment for BC. It is at an unbelievable rate.

Victoria - just one more thing - YES, YOU CAN DO THIS. It is only a matter of time, you will get past this and time does fly fast. There will be hurdles along the way, it is not easy, but it is not something a strong woman can't do. You Go Girl, get that strong fighter feeling in your heart!

Corrected, it's 3cm, was 2.1 last month and I only have one ovary left so no sure if premenopausal. It sure feels like though.

Good Evening Ladies. Taxol went well today and I don't even have heartburn this time at least not yet. Yay. Three down, nine to go. God that sounds a lot to me.
MonikaV - So glad you are still in remission. Hopefully your BFF will post when she is out of hospital and feeling better.
Heather - Any news yet?. Still keeping everything crossed for you.
Inmate - Have you gone AWOL again. Hoping you are feeling good and still kicking cancers butt.
Titan - don't think I would have the energy for crunches or the inclination (MY excuse is it hurts your neck). Why does weight always go on ladies tummy's (Mine was there before chemo and is still there) after all we bear the babies and I don't drink beer. Just aint fair.
When I was going through menopause I suffered with fibrocystic disease. I had two lumps in each breasts at different times. One in each breast was surgically removed and one in each breast was aspirated. I have very dense breasts, or at least one now, and there was some suggestion then that one day I may have some cancer in the breast. So sometimes I just wonder .....
Melissa119 - Glad you are healing well from surgery. I too was very scared. As the ladies on here will tell you it is doable and the time does go quick. Drink plenty of water, take the meds whether you need them or not and you will be fine. Take it from one who has learn't and is still learning from these wonderful ladies on here.
Painting - more than great news on your mammo, brilliant news and yep I can hear your sigh of relief. Good one.
DorMac - I will be getting yearly mammo's even now and yes you are right we are all entitled to them at the very least.
Victoria - sorry you have to join us but sending a big welcome. OBXK is right a plan is what you need. No wonder you are scared with the thought of further possible surgery. It does take a while to get your head around everything that is going on but you'll get there with the wise wisdom of all the ladies on here. Sending gentle hugs to you and plenty of them.

Lovelyface - I find your posts so hard to read because I just dont know what to say to try and ease your stress. Perhaps getting angry at the world won't help us at the moment with our diagnosis and only make it harder for us to fight. I do believe humour helps us more able to cope, at least it does me but I am thinking of you and all that you are going through with your thyroid and this dreaded cancer. I do feel grateful to be alive and to have this time to be able to tell my family how much I love them and how much I have always appreciated their love for me. So many things could have caused our cancers and I guess we will always be left wondering. Genetics for me would be top of the list. There is no rhyme or reason that we know of and it will only eat me up to keep on guessing, then cancer would have won, and I won't let that happen. You are a very strong lady and by reading your posts a very slim, beautiful one so I hope that you find some peace to ease your stress and to help you keep on going. Sending you heaps and heaps of warm fuzzies. Annie

We have decided at the last minute to go to VA Beach. I actually can't wait to get a break from the daily grind, bonding time w/ the family, and most all I can't wait to run into the ocean I don't care how cool the water is.
My best moment from yesterday was teaching my son long hand division. Now I am praying he does well on his SOL (Standards of Learning exam).

CS - No news yet but 2 more interviews tomorrow. Well, I did hear on the one finally, they loved me, but put the position on hold.
Yay, your getting closer to being finished!! Fighter - Can you believe I'm going to a Memorial Day picnic on Monday, first one in 7 years!!! OMG! How I hated living in Florida, I'm so happy to be home. Taking homemade potato salad which I understand is really good. I won't try it due to the mayo. Have been told to add bacon in it and scallions on top and it will be the best potato salad in the world. See my friends are awesome.
Welcome to the new ladies. So sorry your here but you will find a wealth of information and support. The beginning was the absolute worst for me. Once treatment started I came out of my fog a bit.
I've started doing Zumba classes with a friend and her daughters. My SIL teaches. Never knew it could be so much fun, can't believe I'm actually trying to do this in front of a group of strangers and still find it fun. I'm the absolute worst, completely uncoordinated!
On another side note. Hubby switches between normal and ridiculously childish with his OCD freakout about the move. I miss him and the dogs pathectically but it's kinda nice to be able to hang up when he starts up with his crazy.
