Here's last Halloween dressed as a hot dog.  The year before he was a lobster. I'll try to dig up a picture of that one. Lol...this year's he'll be a devil and he actually likes the costume. Laughing

Sugar I used to breed Bichon's.  They were the cutest little dogs around.  We had them ever since my girls were small but when I lost my last one I just couldn't have another as I loved her so much so went for a different breed.  With all that my Chloe chews up I would have done better to have had another bichon  as they were no trouble lol.

She's laying here snoring beside me at the moment after being severely told off.  I nipped to my work to get some more and whilst I was gone she got somehow and chewed a whole packet of little dog  chews that I stupidly left on the top of a table.   I think she must stand on my Tessa's back to get at things. Little shit.

CS - I know what you mean. We love Brandie so much!  He's trouble sometimes and he's a diva (....or, a devo). Last week, he jumped up and sat at the table expecting dinner to be served to him (see below).  We were only serving humans that night at the table.  He also has his own little sofa, which he loves!!!

Sugar your Brandie is so gorgeous.  Fancy a swap? I would rather she sat at the dinner table than chewed the legs off it.  Though come to think of it she has tried chewing the corner of the settee and the corner of my dressing table.  Trouble is she has the face of an angel and when I pick her up to tell her off she looks at me so innocently.  I'm gonna get a tortoise next time, will have not trouble catching them lol.

Borntosurvive - I'm waiting for that test to be discovered, too. So much of my thinking and planning has been constrained by a "well, it probably won't matter much" reflex, and that's just not the me I used to be.

Adagio and txjunebug - Welcome to the group. I do more lurking than writing, but I find a lot of great support with this thread.

Regarding chemo, the advice I would give is take the time to get a wig that really 'is' you. I went with a red wig, since I always wanted to be a redhead, and frankly, losing my hair was one of the easier things to deal with. I don't do scarves too well but I got some good looking turbans. I wore the most dangly earrings I could find almost every day. And one very big piece of advice - try swishing and swallowing a tablespoon of olive oil twice a day. I can't say why or how it works, but I didn't have too many issues with metal-mouth or losing my taste buds (they'd go off for one day each round, but they came back really quickly). A friend of mine recommended it (her doctor passed the tip on), and I'll swear by it. Good luck as you head into chemo.

Hahaha Sugar, I laughed so hard at your lil hotdog that all the names and thoughts I was compiling in my head from the previous several pages of this thread went straight out of my head. I have a ginormous mastiff//lab mix and the extent of his costuming runs to an orange pumpkin scarf at Halloween and a red tartan one at Christmas. Every Halloween I claim he is a poodle dressed up as a mastiff.

Sending energy and hugs to all the ladies here. Pink October is almost over and that should give us all a boost!

I was interested in the statistics in the article about recurrence. Better than I thought, but I suppose it is different in every case. I have no idea what my prognosis is aside from the shattering crap I found online before my husband forbid me to look any further. My oncologist won't give me any numbers. He just goes on and on with a very long story about driving on the highway and the guy that reaches his destination is 100% alive and the guy that doesn't is 100% dead. Drives me crazy- I want to know! I keep thinking he won't tell me because my odds are crap. Sigh.

Sitting in bed with my laptop today. My oncologist has cancelled my chemo this week, which is freaking me out. I am not tolerating the taxol well and the SEs are getting really bad. He says I need an extra week of rest to regenerate nerve endings or some such thing. My feet are all fricked up and I can hardly walk and I am covered in an attractive warty rash just in time for Halloween, and and and... I just want to get this over with! I thought the taxol would be a breeze after the horror of my summer of AC, and am really disappointed. I guess it is obvious that I am having a whiny baby day today, bleh.

: Astride his shiny new 125, Frank was thoroughly excited about going riding in the mountains for the first time. After going only a few miles, Frank was surprised to see what appeared to be a half-acre of brown fur just off the trail ahead. Recognizing it as a huge grizzly bear, Frank nailed the throttle hard, hoping to get by before the bear could react. The bear was too quick, though, and with one leap was totally blocking the trail. Frank had no choice but to stop.

"Now that you've disturbed my sleep", said the bear, "you have two choices. Either I maul you to death or we have sex." Frightened beyond belief, Frank decided to bend over.

Still sore a week later, Frank vowed revenge. Back to the cycle shop he went, where he traded in the 125 for a hot 250. Soon he was back on the mountain, heading down the trail. It wasn't long at all before he spotted the grizzly again, napping beside the trail. Feeling certain he had the necessary power this time, Frank nailed the throttle and shot ahead. But once again the bear was too quick, and again he blocked the trail. "That was a big mistake, Frank", said the bear. "But, you know the drill. Either I maul you to death or we have sex... rough sex." Fearful for his life, Frank again decided that it would be wise to comply.

This time it took weeks before Frank recovered enough to get around. But still outraged at the bear, he traded in the 250 and got the hottest 500 money could buy before heading back to the mountain. Now he could outrun the bear, and now he'd prove who was the master! And with the faster 500 under him, it took no time at all before he looked ahead and saw the huge grizzly again. Frank lowered his head, down shifted, and confidently nailed the throttle hard, rocketing ahead so quickly he was barely able to hang on. Incredibly, however, the bear was quicker still, and Frank had no choice but to come to a sliding halt in front of the bear now blocking the trail. A chill ran up his spine as he waited for the bear to speak.

"C'mon, Frank", said the bear. "Admit it. You don't come here to trail ride any more, do you?"

Bernie - brilliant. Never expected that ending.

DesertMama - know how you feel about taxol.  I had a bad experience with it too.  Allergic reaction on the first infusion, terrible itchy rash on hands and arms that nearly drove me mad in bed at night, numb, tingling fingers that were bent up so I couldn't type very well and shocking finger nails that have still not come right.  I think the AC and red devil was probably better because at least you got two weeks of feeling good.

Sugar I love his sofa too.  One contented little dog.

Cocker Spaniel, sorry about your poor nails, eecch cancer sucks! A few questions please: Do your fingers work properly now? Do you still have any neuropathy? Did your oncologist change the schedule or dosage of taxol during your treatment?

I am halfway through 12 taxol doses; had SEs from the first one, but they have intensified with each round.

DesertMama My hands are a lot better and there is not too much numbness at all now.  At one time I could really squeeze my fingers  and they wouldn't hurt but now it does and the side of my hands are a lot better, they were also numb.   There is still some numbness but nothing like it was through taxol.   I was to have 12 taxol but because of the problems they stopped it at 7.  I thought they might have reduced it but they just stopped it. Yes like you it got more worse with each round of taxol.  My finger nails are just as bad,  almost like a dark yellow and red lines all across them.  My oncologist said that was from the AC.  The only good thing that I think about is perhaps as they have not come back to normal yet there may still be some chemo in my system that may be keeping a recurrence at bay.  Not sure if there is any truth in that though, just my silly thoughts. I hate my nails now though and keep them in my pocket if I see someone I know. They used to be well manicured and lovely but now they are ugly.

C_S: do you have any pics you could post of your 'little shit' ?  I am like you with my nails...never lost any, but they are now so short and horrible I try to hid them as much as possible.   My hair was gone months before but once my nails kept breaking and now so short, I actually hated that more than losing my hair??  Weird.

    Hugs to all xxx

Good Morning Dear Friends - I'm home from hospital and now a flat-top.  So far recovery has been very easy.  Just a little discomfort, but no need for pain meds!  I'm amazed, but so delighted.  Surgeon said all tissue looked healthy and didn't expect pathology to turn up any cancer.  I'll go with that.

Thanks for all your kind messages of support.  It means so much to me.  I'll soon be back to sewing lap quilts and pillows for that kids camp.

Good wishes to all of you in treatment and those just getting diagnoses now.  Jan

You all are amazing and so inspiring!!  So glad I found this board.

Having just started this journey, it's so wonderful to talk to someone who has been there.  My friend with breast cancer isn't triple negative so she didn't have to go thru all of this.

Hope everyone gets good news with path reports and has a wonderful day!

    question.

On my pathology report it says that there is lymphatic vascular invasion present. Does anyone know what this means and what are the implications?

Appreciating all the useful tips and advice!

Taz  - I will check and see if I have any photos of the little shit.  Thats her permanent name now.  I notice you say you don't have any children so she would be perfect for you to keep you company.  She can't go to people with childrern cause she would eat their lollies (sweets).

KSMatthews - now that is one lovely dog.  What gorgeous eyes.

Jan - so glad you are home and all is well you little flat top.  Rest and recuperation for you now.

txjunebug - we are glad to be of help to our friends. Can't always answer questions but can be there for you at all times.

adagio - my report also says that and I think it is because it is found in the lymph nodes but check with your oncologist just to be sure.

Karen -  thinking of you today.  Hope all goes well.

Have a great day ladies. Thinking of you all. Annie

C_S: No children and no pets.  Used to have German Shepards when I lived in England, but since being in Canada haven't had any... unless of course you count the DH ??  Oh and I know what lollies are.  Being a Brit I think we have pretty similar terminology to you NZ'ers.

    Cute dogs everyone.

Just to add what others have already said

Adagio, Lympho vascular invasion  (LVI) means that the cancer cells have gotten into the systems that carry blood and lymphatic fluid in the breast.  Many with this on their path report will also have positive nodes and are at a greater risk for the cancer to spread elsewhere.  I certainly do not say this to scare you , just to give the info you were looking for.....that being said, i am almost 3 1/2 yrs out and NED.  I, too, had LVI and tumor necrosis..which means that the cells were growing so fast that the circulatory system could not keep up to bring oxygen and nutrients, so some of the cells died.

Taz - you don't know what you are missing if you haven't got a 'little shit' in your life!!!!  Thats what we call dogs and  kids that are mischievious here but its affectionately said most of the time.   What made you move to Canada.

Babs gorgeous dogs. Believe it or not I do love my dogs very much and wouldn't want to be without them.  I just love Pixie's tail and Charlie looks real cuddly.
