SA8 - no, no no! I'm so sorry you're going through this again! Have they tested for staph and strep too? When my port removal got infected it turned out to be strep. I had no idea strep could infect anywhere else but the throat. I'm sure your doctors have covered everything, but thought I'd throw it out there. I'll be thinking of you and sending prayers for a smooth procedure, quick recovery and getting back on track soon.
Bak - such amazing news! Congratulations!
Melissa - no problem. Keep us posted on what your surgeon says and good luck at the appointment!

Hi everyone,
Thank you all for the prayers & words of encouragement. I am home and resting. Praise report is that I didn't need the wound vac after all. When the Dr got in there he was able to close up the wound without it. That saved me from having home health come out m,w, & fri for a few weeks thank the Lord. Believing this is the end of this infection and it will never return again. I have a drain that should be out by next week. They cultured me again during surgery so will see if something grows this time. They are all scratching their heads. They think it may be an autoimmune response from having alloderm & expanders (both are gone but maybe the Alloderm that incorporated to my skin, the body is still rejecting?)
As soon as I hear back I will keep you posted
Hugs, prayers & love to all of you
Blessings

A couple, having gone shopping in town the eve of Easter Sunday, are driving back home, at dusk, down a country road. Suddenly they feel and hear a THUMP. They realize that they must have hit something. They gingerly get out of the car and walk to the front. They find, to their utter distress, that they have hit a large bunny who had been carrying a basket of eggs and now the eggs were all over the place. It takes them a second and then it dawns on them … they have hit the Easter Bunny!
The bunny looks in bad shape. They think they might have killed him. They start having visions of the 'Grinch that Stole Christmas' except this is Easter. Suddenly the wife has an idea. She hurries to the back of the car and starts rummaging through her shopping. She finds a large aerosol can and comes back with it. She starts spraying the motionless bunny, lying on the road, eggs scattered all over the place, with her can.
Suddenly the bunny starts to twitch and move around. Its right arm begins to jerk. It wakes up. Looks around. The right arm now starts waving. The couple stand, agape, speechless. The bunny is looking at them, a slow smile spreading across his face. He is waving. He slowly gets up. The couple get nervous. This is the Easter Bunny, and they had nearly killed it. They scurry back to their seats, start the car and take off before the bunny starts asking them any questions.
They nervously glance back to see if the bunny is OK. He appears to be fine. He is waving like crazy. He doesn't stop waving. The husband says: "That was amazing. What did you do and why is he waving, non-stop?" She replies: "I don't know. Let me look".
She starts reading what it says on the aerosol can that she had used to revive the bunny. Finally she says, "Ah. This must be it! It says: Restores life to hair and gives it permanent wave".

Just starting my 3rd AC dense dose. Happy because after today I will only have 1 more of this cocktail sad and nervous because then I start TC for 12 weeks. I'm so thankful that I haven't suffered many SEs. My dad flew in last night and is scheduled to stay for 7 weeks. Family is so amazing! My school family and friends have been supplying us with meals 3 times a week since February and are planning to continue thru May. Cancer stinks but has also given me huge blessings

Hey ladies (and of course any other guys out there!)
I know all you missed my English accent!
Seriously, I hope everyone is well or as well as can be. Not had a chance to post for a while, things have been rather crazy! But I would like to let you know that my wife gave birth to our little baby boy three weeks ago (March 14th). He's a fine little chap, and doing very well. Keeping Daddy awake at night, (I am of course sending my wife to bed and doing feeding duty overnight), but enjoying every second of it.
My sweetheart is now back on chemo, she has 8 more weeks of Taxol to go. Obviously very tired and now her body is shot to bits with surgery, chemo and pregnancy, but light is appearing at the end of the tunnel. She has even started a fashion trend on the nursery school run. One mum copied her head scaf thinking it was a new fashion statement, the poor thing got a huge shock when we explained the real reason, but hey made my wife smile!
As always love and hugs and prayers to you all.
Tom

just checking in and waving a big hello to everyone.
glad to hear everyone is doing well
ally..happy to hear that the mass was benign. keep us posted about what is planned next. will be good if another surgery is avoided.
by the way, havent heard from fighter and catwhispurr since a really long time. Both unfortunately battling mets.
old timers and regular writers here...do keep posting. its a huge support.
me doing fine. the cardiac issue is getting treated but to cure it a small surgery would be needed which they are avoiding as of now. i feel its a side effect of taxol since the problem is with the nerve endings near the heart, that have got damaged and i did suffer from serious neuropathy during taxol. But as long as its not another cancer, i will not complain!!!
lots of love and hugs to you all....

Tom, it must be a combination of happy and tiring days for you and your wife. Let us know how you are coping up with baby plus your wife back to chemo. Taxol should treat her better as compared to anthracycines.
Meadow.. It all began with huge palpitations and difficulty to breathe or move or talk or even lift my head from the bed. But by the time I used to reach the hospital, it used to subside and the ECG etc used to come clear. Till one day when I got a repeat attack right on the ECG table and it got diagnosed right away. He said he will not interpret this as heart metastasis since from breast to heart is rare. How have u been post treatment?
Thanks for the wishes anotherNYCG
Hope u are doing good, LUVMY and everyone here..
Keep writing...

For those of you just starting this journey, I just thought I'd post that today is my wife's 2 year "cancer-versary". 2 years ago today she was diagnosed. There were some complications due to a previous bout with lymphoma 17 years prior, which limited treatment options. We were both scared out of our wits. My wife embarked on the journey through treatment, which included mastectomy, chemo, oophorectomy and reconstruction. With a great deal of faith and a great deal of support, which included this board, we got to the other side. Now, 2 years post diagnosis, all is well so far. Just wanted to say that so you'll know that although it may not always seem like it, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Fight on and things WILL get better. Bless you all, newbies and long term survivors, and be well!
