    Soriyah 123

My PS. is linda zeineh too! I had my surgery yesterday.so far very happy with zeineh, she is awesome, she might not be very talkative but she knows how to do a proper job.I had my reconstruction at Pavilion .my boobies were kind of far away from each other naturally .she asked me if I want them to be closer?and I was like YEAHHH. I love the way they look right now.Soriyah is it ok to ask , if you saved your nipples or not? and who was your breast surgeon?mine is Carpenter at St.joseph. I love her.

I have Zeineh too. I love her honestly.she is the type that does not like to advertise herself. My reconstruction was yesterday and I am soooo happy with the result.I can't wait to get out of this pressure bra to take a good look at my precious new boobies.Trust her,and good luck.and the same question I just asked Soriya,Did you keep your nipples?

".she asked me if I want them to be closer?and I was like YEAHHH."

See but this is what I am talking about, she doesn't ask me questions like this and I kind of want her opinion.  Idk, I'm going WITHOUT my mom next time and maybe she'll be a little more talkative.  Hopefully.  I really like her, she's super sweet but I think that's my issue.  She's too nice to me, I want her to be a little more authoritative.

Sparklekat, Yes I also had TE, first time at surgery was 200c.  I have mine filled every 2 weeks, 100cc, 125cc, 100cc and 75cc=600cc.

Setizend..... you, me and sparklekat have the same BS-Dr. carpenter. :)   and  Dr. Margileth is my MO so does Sparklekat. LOL

Yes I  had nipples sparing because I was a candidate for Lumpectomy from the beginning. So far both of my nipples looks pretty good. :)

@Soriya:  Oh that many cc's?  I figured I would have to go in every week at get 50 cc's.  Does it really hurt you?  Do you feel like it's a lot bigger now than when you started? It seems to me that they are even bigger than when they were put in on the 11th but I haven't had any fills.   Sorry to bombard you with questions but it's nice to talk to someone locally who's done it already.  I feel like I got lectured when I said I was going to get a BMX at 29 and it wasn't really helpful.  Haha!

she asked me that question right before the anesthesiologist put me on sleep! the point is, its a very long process and she will  discuss  every single thing with you when you are getting closer to the surgery date.she will take every thing more serious by the time you are done with expansions. So I don't think its because of your mom being with you :)

she said she will do reconstruction surgery at least a month after your last chemo and 2 months after your last expansion.for me it took 5 months after my first visit with her ,to do my reconstruction.I also make a list of my questions each time and make her talk!

Yeah I don't have fills until another two weeks but I really like where I am at now because I've just always been big.  My mom wants me to go bigger but it's hard for me to tell how big I am getting because the tissue expanders are such a weird shape that they don't fit into the underwire bras that would otherwise help me decide cup size.  I think I want to be a little bigger before Vegas in April though.  HAHAHA!  My priorities are totally in order... ;)

sparklekat, that is so awesome that you had a CPR! I had my surgery first so will never know how my cancer responded to chemo but I thought complete responses were unlikely with hormone positive, her2 negative tumors! I was ER/PR + and grade 3 like you so you make me hopeful that the chemo was effective!

I don't know the nuances between the hormone positive cancers reactions to chemo but I think if you have aggressive cancer it responds better to chemo right? So because we were grade three the chemo can kill it more easily?

They do say grade 3 responds best to chemo.

Okay weird symptom, is any else having this?  I had my mastectomy 2 1/2 weeks ago.  I went back to work after two weeks so I have been in business attire all week.  And i am definitely still in a little pain but nothing unbearable.  HOWEVER, my skin over the tissue expander seems like it's annoyed or something. It's not really itchy, it doesn't really hurt, it just seems irritated.  It's a weird feeling to describe.  Has anyone had anything like this and did it go away?  I have a heavy sweater on today so I am sure that's not helping...

Hi ladies - just a question for all those who have finished chemo. How long did it take before you girls went without  a wig/hat? My hair is starting to go and I'll probably shave it this weekend. Sucks having people come up to saying "aww but you're so young." I'm trying my hardest not to look "sick"...

Sparklekat - I had a rash appear on my mastectomy site for about a couple of weeks, but it cleared up on its on. I was applying this organic oil, which I guess did not agree with my skin. Are you applying anything on there? They made me see the PS to make sure it was ok and wouldn't delay chemo.

hope - I have 2 treatments left and always have on a hat or a scarf or my wig, its too cold here in Canada to not ..ha  I go with just me bald head when I am home.  I was proactive on my hair loss, it started thinning then I cut it to a bob, and 3 days after bobbing it I could just run my hand through it and get handfuls, then I knew it was time to shave it, at least I was in control of that.  Being a hairstylist it was difficult for me and the whole hair loss, but in the big picture its a small price to pay.

Hope, no lotion or anything, I think it must just be my nerves firing, its not as obnoxious as it was yesterday.  I had my last chemo treatment January 10 so still in my wig.  I hate how short hair looks on me though so I'm thinking I'll be wearing it for a while.  My hair is growing in but you can definitely tell I was bald.  If you go to YouTube you can find some videos of the progression of peoples hair growth after chemo that might be helpful.

my last treatment was right after Christmas.and now its 2 weeks I go without wig.it looks cute but still unusual.probably most people out there think I am Gay.because they still look at me but this time its different, they smirk! any ways you might like to know I tried any thing I found on the web and from all of the crazy tips I say the best were caster oil and grounded Garlic.I got my eyebrows back by Garlic I swear.but DAMN, it hurts.if you wanted to try caster oil make sure you buy pure caster oil Gosh those factories are the biggest cheaters ever.you might end up  buying a mixture of canola oil and god knows what else....

Hi just wondering for those of you who have finished chemo - how did it effect your skin? Did you use a special moisturizer on your face? I don't want to look 60 at the end of chemo! I know it sounds vain, but it matters!

h0pe - do you mean like "menopause b gone" lotion? During chemo my skin was actually perfect, no pimples that I occasionally struggle with. Too early to tell for me what the lack of estrogen and therefore collagen will do to my skin. Botox here I come!???

INKS - LOL - I was thinking about botox today, but didn't know if I should mess with injection a different kind of poison in my body! Hopefully, since we're younger our skin will hold up better.

my skin seems the same just more spotty... does that make sense... every one tells me constantly how great I look and Im like seriously, but the oncology nurse told me the other day I look like a million bucks everytime I walk through the door, encouraging words I guess, but I am also the youngest one in the treatment room.

Thank you for all the skin replies! Trying to decide b/w the Lindi line and regular skincare line from the mall.

soriya123 - did you find the Lindi products moisturizing enough?

Question to those who had radiation after mastectomy. How tired were you on the last week of radiation? I asked the same question to my RO but she said they don't get much younger women. I'm just trying to figure out if I'll need to get a babysitter for the last week. I have to say that I think I had it fairly easy with chemo compared to other women on my monthly board. Occasionally it got quite depressing to even hang around there. But I have read the previous monthly boards and some others have been way more upbeat than the one I was on.

I am 31 and just got the final news yesterday. I have a 6 and 2 year old. My husband is 28. Pretty bummed about it. Feeling a ton of guilt that they have to go through this with me.

ugh Coop, another woman down, soo sad:( sorry BC struck your house!

Everyone deals differently but grieve with your hubs, then come up with a plan together with the kids once you have yours from the docs.

I'm sure you will research the crap out of your diagnosis, path reports, meds, side effects.  You will live in cancer world for a while but one of the great things I did when I became overwhelmed is set a time to turn it off...like after dinner no more talking, researching, scheduling.

My kids 2,6,9 are weathering it very well, I check in with them...they know I am fighting cancer in terms they understand, their schools know, friends and family have supported us through lotsofhelpinghands.com...I designated a willing friend to update when I was just too sick.

Depending on your stage it will be very difficult so reach out!  I think I sporadically cried walking through stores on the phone for the first month or two...my husband cried probably longer than I did but then once you grieve it gets easier to talk about.  At least this is all my experience, it is completely different for everyone.  Sorry you are going through this but always remember you WILL get through it and feel good again, just can be a long road, much love hugs and prayers, Steph

I've started vlogging already. It turns out there are more people out there that care than I thought. https://www.youtube.com/user/jparcoop

If you want to join me. Maybe give pointers? I am beyond overwhelmed.

Coop - it is very overwhelming, especially in the beginning. Mixed emotions of shock, sadness, anger, etc. I'm in the middle of chemo right now, and I can say for me it gets a little better after you get answers and have a plan. The chemo is not easy, but it has been doable, like others have said. I'm 31 also. It really isn't fair. I'm hoping that it gets better with time. I really do think the beginning is the worst. This site is great. You will find comfort in sharing your experience with others. Good luck with everything.

Taxol question for you ladies in your 30's - my MO says younger people do better with chemo, esp Taxol. For those of you who have had it, do you find this true? I have my last dd AC this Friday; then moving on to weekly Taxol.

hope I did sorta crappy on AC, I just had my 3rd taxol Friday and its more manageable as far as nausea for me...I lost 20 lbs with AC!  I was in bed for about 3/4 days with AC.

Taxol has its own slew of symptoms and I hear its a cumulative effect...all my counts have steadily gone down and with 9 left I'm thinking I will have more problems.  But for now I have to use laxatives and softeners every day, Claritin for allergies I've never had before taxol, take B6 and glucosamine for neuropathy in my hands, put protein polish on my nails and constantly washing and moisturizing all day, Prilosec daily, take Xanax for insomnia from steroids during infusion for two days, and finally going to introduce small does if Valium twice a day for menopause and steroid moodiness...DH would say rage and he's right but with little sleep and a rash on my arse today when I say I need to lay down then ya lips betta stop moving.  Ya so Valium should help, lol!
