Wednesday Weigh In

Down another pound to 152.5. Dulcigirl, I had to laugh at your lesser weight due to smaller implants - reminded me of myself when I got on the scale after DIEP flap surgery in May and weighed 5 lbs less - I figured that was the weight of the tummy fat that was removed - lol.0 -
Up .5 to 130. Man, I don't like that 3. But I was right about the festivities. My birthday last Fri, DH's birthday next Sat, equals a lot of chocolate cake.0 -
No change, still at 160, which means 7 lbs to go to meet the Christmas challenge. Yikes, less than two months - doable?- yes, but probable? - I don't think so.0 -
Geez, I family-reunioned myself into 3 extra pounds!

I'm up .4 lbs. Not so bad considering I was unable to select my food at the conference I attended. Now this week we have another challenge. Halloween candy. Eek!0 -
not happy still 172.8 since oct 2 nd! Well at least it's not up!0 -
ruthbr, Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself at the family reunion. I am going on vacation and today is my last day of work until after Veterans Day. I am going to Aruba for 5 days and I am going to not worry about my weight until I get back. I will be starting anew on November 12 and will check back in with you folks then. In the meantime Think Skinny Thoughts...

Aruba- how wonderful!!! As our leaves fall I am dreaming of sandy beaches. Hey you can eat a lot of fish dishes there right? Not SO fattening.....LOL, seriously- ENJOY, you deserve it.
I am holding exactly steady- still 3-4 to go until Christmas.
I'm trying each day to eat less and work out more. Some days good, some failures.
It is SO great to have all of you for support and to know that I am sure not alone in this.
And no matter how puffy I feel it is still amazing to be done with treatmnets for now. My last Herceptin is next wednesday- woohoo!!!!!
Hugs

Congratulations Warrior!! That is a big milestone!0 -
Hi all,
I was posting here pretty regularly but then I went through a period of deep depression that I tried to eat my way out of with very unhealthy and fattening carbs. I am just coming out of a bout with sinusitis and am determined to get back on track with healthy eating and exercise (I did exercise, although less, during the depression). Now, recovering from a minor illness I will need to ease back into it slowly. I don't want to weigh myself yet (although the tightness of my clothes are indicators) because I think that will make me return to a depressed state. Instead I'm going to get back on track starting today. The day before Thanksgiving I will weigh myself again.
Anyone else who tried eating themselves out of a depression?
Hugs,
Peggy0 -
Peggy, I think most people try to eat their way out of a depression. Carbs have a soothing effect. Unfortunately, gaining weight contributes to depression in the end. I agree about not weighing now. Exercise is supposed to help depression, so adding more gradually should help. Hugs.0 -
I think most people go one way or the other when they are depressed: either they can't eat at all or eat too much, and of the wrong things (they don't call them 'comfort foods' for nothing).
I have a had rotten, rotten cold so who knows what the scale will show.....ate plenty of comfort food myself....sigh....

Peggy, if you find encouragement here, keep checking in, but don't weigh until you feel ready.0 -
absolutely have done the stress eating. I don't eat if I'm severely depressed but eat like a pig if I'm mildly depressed. Do things for yourself to avoid the funk. I turn up music. I dance I go for a nice nature walk. Hang with friends that make you laugh.
I lost 2lbs this week. Glad to be on the downside but I go on vacation soon so that could be another hurdle.0 -
down 1.4 of the vacation 3.

I'm celebrating this morning! I met my "lose ten pounds by Christmas" goal: 122 lbs. This morning I weighed in at 121.7, which is down 0.4 from last Wednesday. The challenge now will be to maintain. I'd actually like to be down to 120 by the end of the year. Taking out-of-town friends to one of our favorite TexMex restaurants tonight will be a challenge indeed.0 -
YAY Annie! So wonderful to set a goal and actually reach it! I'm a little worried about my 10 til Christmas goal, the weight is just not coming off. But at least I am maintaining my 3-4 lb loss so far. Forgot to weigh this morning, but I did weigh yesterday and was up .5 lbs to 160.5. Stressful week, choir concert next 3 nights, so back on track this weekend I hope.0 -
Maintained my loss. (How's that for a positive way to say I didn't lose any this week? Lol.) Actually, I DID lose another pound but then my son came home from college yesterday and we had pizza and chips for dinner. And I went back to work for the first time since surgery and they gave me chocolate.
And I ate it.
Back to my lovely supportive juicer now.0 -
Down 1 to 129. Feels good to be back in the 2's again. I'd love to be 125 by Christmas. That will require a lot of Thanksgiving willpower, however.0 -
So my run of steady weight-loss has grounded to a halt, and I weigh the same as last week, 152.5. Wonder if this is the dreaded plateau after losing 12 lbs? I was so hoping to hit the 150 lb mark before my son's wedding Saturday in two weeks . . . sigh. Will just persevere, walk/exercise some more, avoid carbs and sugar. Something's gotta give, right? Lol.
Annie, congrats to you on reaching your goal! Well done!0 -
I have missed a few wednesday weigh in and I didnt weigh myself today, I am recovering from last week's stage 2 surgery and Halloween (my son brought home a huge amt of candy from trick or treating). I gave myself a break for the week. So I am posting, but I will work on exercising and drinking lots of water and hopefully by next weeks weigh in I can report something good.0 -
Warrior, that is great! I'm starting to sound like a broken record-same as last week. Well at least it's not going up, but I'm afraid I'm not going to meet the Xmas challenge. Ill keep trying...0 -
For you gals who are discouraged, if you've never tried Weight Watchers or it's been years since you did, you might want to give them another look. (They are not paying me for this endorsement )
They don't dictate what you can and can't eat. No foods are off limits. So if you prefer to eat vegetarian, or low carb, or glucose free, or you want to make sure you can have your favorite goodies now and then, you can do any of that on Weight Watchers. It's all about tracking and being accountable for everything you eat. They are all about positive reinforcement and encouragement. The most economical way to get started is to register and pay for monthly passes online and be sure to pay for the E-Tools. The online tracking has helped me more than anything else, but the meetings are an important part of the overall support system too. You set your own weight loss goal as long as your target weight is healthy for your age and height. I intentionally set my goal weight at a few pounds over what I really wanted to weigh, so I'd have a little wiggle room. Since I am a lifetime member, the program is free for me now as long as I weigh in monthly and am not 2 lbs over my goal weight. That is a great motivation, because I'd be lost without the E-Tools.
If you don't try WW, I think it's super important to find some other way to track your daily food consumption and keep yourself accountable, like Spark People or My Fitness Pal. I find that even when I'm eating way too much, it helps me to track it. At least that way I'm not in denial. It's just too easy to deceive ourselves about how much we are really eating. The best thing we can do is to be truthful with ourselves. With the factors some of us have working against us now (menopause, chemopause, anti-estrogen meds, stress) I think it's just too hard to maintain a healthy weight without help.0 -
PS: Just found this great slogan on the WW Facebook Page:
I CAN AND I WILL!!0 -
Down 100 grams. I can and I will get down 1 Kilo before the end of the month.0
