morning girls, well its now mid day here. i did not get up til after nine, had a terrible night, had fishnchips and too late as hubby late home. but man it burned my gut out, heart burn, its liek a cold burning sensation from the stumach up the esophegus. very annoying, i got up twice for gaviscon and had another losec. finally it settled. We ahve employed students from student job search to help us get out of the fifty acrea, farming students, so we can get animals sorted etc, have 3, get them shifting stuff tomorrow, weekend we get animals drafted off for works or where they going, it will help having peoiple who know what they doing to round them up and draft them off. , this week we will shift stuff back to other farm. we had planned to that last weekend but it was terrible weather. also one of our drivers promised to come and hlp DH on weekend, he had a Domestic at home and qwas asked to leave and asked us for help as he no where to stay. so we booked room for him in motel down the road where we have our interviews and got him breakfast as well and he turned up at midnight one night as he walked from feiding to us about two and half hours , apparently went home and they got nowhere, so we put him in truck cab for night and then the two nights back at motel. but guess what, when it came to saturday, his phone was switched off and never saw him. Ron asked him(DH) if he was going to help on weekend, ohyes i will be there, yea right. he was really relying on his help too. he has nort mentioned a thing about it or even apologised for not showing up. it was ment to be pay back for the motel room. we were very disolusioned. really felt used over that whole week. but what do you do. try to help people, i know you dont things to get things in return, but we thought he may of been more willing to help since we were at his aid alll week and trying to save his job as he was not with it, forgetting this and that, hit somebodies car etc. we have now also an insurance claim to pay. he never told us either, the insurance company rung up, BIL did not know what the hell he was talking about. BIl was ropable. i dont blame him either. that it from me for now. we do pick em. guess its our own fault, but did not want to see him on street and needed him not tired to drive the truck either, so tried to be there for him.

Wow everyone has been busy.
Kate, I finished radio end of May. My breast is still really red and two sizes bigger than the other one. I saw the surgeon last week and asked him about it being sore. The answer was: it rarely goes away completely, and yes it can hurt a lot.
It is great to have it checked though.
DD is going to hosp this afternoon with pains, she is 32 weeks pregnant. Hopefully just stretching but I will be pleased when she has seen them as this is way to early.

Kylie sure hope your DD is okay. I know that 32 weeks us very early but take heart, if it happens medical science is wonderful for premies. My niece was born at 25 weeks and is now a very happy healthy 6 year old with no problems.

Kylie - they wait until NOW to tell you that it might be a permanent side effect? Was ongoing pain and swelling mentioned before you did it? What about for you Kate?
Jenn0 -
nope, i wasnt warned about lingering swelling, redness or tenderness. they went on a lot about burns and what to expect in that department and lickily mine were very mild so i thought that was going to be the worst of it - guess I was wrong (and ignorant). I can live with it though, its uncomfortable for sure but Id rather it a side effect that the return of BC so im relieved to learn it seems to be a coomon problem after rads.

Jenn, Kylie and Kate
I also have swelling in the radiated breast. I don't mind as long as I know it's innocuous. For me, it's better than some of the alternatives.0 -
I'm cross the right one didn't end up the same as the left one - I still reckon they did the wrong dose of radiation. At the planning session, the dude says ""dcis"- I go - "No IDC". I did check with my rad onc later and she swears it was correct. The left one hurts more, then again I had a butcher for a surgeon for that one.

DD is ok. Seems to be a UTI, she needs to drink more. They put her on monitor and bub is fine.
I was warned about redness and swelling which would be temporary. I feel the same as Racy it is better than the alternative. Because they found a satellite tumour during surgery which didnt show on scans the concern was there were more there, so to me radio was a must.
I went to docs yesterday and bumped into someone I haven't seen in a while. She came up and gave me a big hug and said 'how are you, I heard you were on your way out and don't have long'. Mmmm the joy of small towns... I did set her straight though.

Morning all
Having a bad day with RA and fibro, actually have been miserable and not helped by family feuds. Problems with family because DS's wedding is going to be very small so many family members will not be invited. One presumed they would have invite and had to be told sorry you are going to miss out but it got very silly. Also the tramadol tends to upset me which is why I usually only take it at night.
You girls have talked about long term side effects. I have intense pain in the radiated area of my chest, it often feels like hot burning. My shoulder is very painful. Onc says its long term side effects of chemo and radiation.
Sorry I am such a grump this morning but its like that some days.
Now I must get on with some work I have to complete. DD is coming later and will go for a gentle walk with me. Problem with the RA is I have to rest but I also need to move.
Hugs to all

Alyson hope you will have a better time. yes family fueds can certainly upset the apple cart. we found out more so at funerals and it was the inlaws that caused it, esp at grandfathers, there was hell of scrap from one of mums sister inlaws, but that has all mended and all freinds, well its been 14 years, so they would need to make up after that time, it comes down to greed and wanting to have their own way on how it was to go. mind you there was mums younger sister who has a habit of instigating rows too, she loves the centre of attention. hope everything will work out for you and you wil feel better too. gentle hugs.
Kylie, its amazing how things get around and gets all wrong while its happening. apparently BIL was asked the other day or told the other day about a driver employee and that he is no longer working for us, due to health problems, hurt his back, and left as he could not do it anymore, but it did not not stop him racing his saloon car, we wont go there. the rumour is going around that he was sacked because he was having a fling with the bosses wife, as BIL aint married, i am the wife of the other boss lol hubby rang me wanting to ask a very serious question, half laughing as he knows i cant stand the guy, and i said, get off. i aint desperate. they was put straight very quickly by BIL. so yea people do get the wrong idea and turn it into a big fairy tale. hugs I dont know if i could be that blunt to say, hearing you are on the way out even if its not true. its abit hard thing to say to person with BC anyway. hugs

Hi SusieQ. I wanted to introduce myself because you are one of the only people (besides powermom) who is ILC Triple Positive.
I hate having this distinction, but at least I'm not completely alone here.
Any information on our chances of recurrence? My cancer center here in California has never seen an ILC Triple Positive before.
Just great....sigh.

Well my eyebrows are done too.
I opted to just have a number of hairs drawn in, rather than solid colouring. It looks like my brows did when they first started to thin out. The plan is to contine to use pencil to neaten them each day, and make them strong or faint depending on the occasion. Can't do anything to them for a week so will look a little odd until then. Also will go back just after Christmas to have them recoloured as necessary. Now I just have to keep them out of the sun.
Cheers

Hi Kimby - don't worry too much, my onc was pleased it was triple positive. The only thing different was that lobular tends to be bilateral. But I had ductal in the other breast, so go figure.
We are VERY special, I'll give you that. I did find another lady here, I'll try and remember her name.

Dang, my port is blocked. I went for Herceptin today and I must be getting complacent with the Emla cream as I didn't even hit the right spot! so ouches for every one of the 6 attempts they made, but it's totally blocked. They could get it in ok but couldn't push any liquid through at all. I now have to have an x-ray with dye to see what's going on with it. They ended up putting it in my hand and luckily got it first attempt. I'm unusually tired and achy all over, so will have a nice early night tonight and hopefully I bounce back to normal in the morning. xxxx

Oh poo Kate!! Sure hope they can clear the blockage. (((((((Hugs))))))))

Ladies, what's the news on the government reducing funding for one of the chemo drugs? I haven't had time to research it. Jenn?
0 -
Well, once again got crappy news...
Had my onc appointment today to discuss the chemo regime & when I saw the bone scan I nearly choked! It said 'major skeletal progression' & then went on to name almost every bone in my body....poor hubby was in tears
The pictures were VERY black.....scarey!!
Anyway, getting a port put in on Wednesday & then start chemo the following Thursday - 6th December.
I will be having Paclitaxel & Gemcitabine on week one, then on week two I have Gemcitabine only & then a break on week 3.... I will be having 6 to 8 cycles if my body can take it & if it does it's job....fingers crossed.
Anyone had these ones??
(((Hugs)))

Oh shit Karen!! Not the sort of news any of us want. Can't help you on the chemos but I sure hope they can kick the cancer back for you. (((((Hugs))))))
Hi Vanstrada sorry you need to be here but welcome. Have you had your path report yet? Also, has your treatment plan other than the mastectomy been discussed? We're all here to help you through so lease don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think them silly as there is no such thing as a silly question when you are dealing with BC. ((((Hugs)))))
Love n hugs all. Chrissy0 -
Kate so sorry for the blocked port. If it turns out the nurses didnt flush it properly, make sure you give it to them so they learn to do their jobs properly grrr. Hope you feel better in the morning.
Karen, cancer sucks so bad. Im sorry you got such horrible results, but hopefully the new regime will do its job and you will be dancing in the stables soon.
Vanstrada, Im one of the Brissie girls. Also had a left masectomy with no recon but mine was a few years ago now. Look forward to chatting and hopefully we can help you. If your up to it, we're having a get together in Brisbane City in 2 weeks, would be marvellous if you could join us there. Please see the Brisbane get together thread for more details if your interested.
Oddly I have just been looking at land for sale in and around your area as I think I'll be heading for a tree change in a few years time. Cant think of anything better than getting out of the rat race down the track.
Hope everyone else is planning a relaxing weekend.

Karen - hugs to you... I hope your port install goes smoothly.
Vanstrada - welcome, but so sorry you had to join us. Do try and go meet the others in a few weeks! They are a great bunch of women.
Kate - are they going to try the "draino" chemical to unclog your port? I had to have that when mine clogged. They injected the chemical into my port and made me wait an hour. then checked me under the x-ray to see if it was unclogged. Said if it wasn't they would do it again until the clot/tissue at the end had dissolved. Luckily it worked for mine with just one go.
Jenn0 -
Kazzie, I'm very sorry to hear what you are going through. I can only imagine the thoughts and feelings you and your husband must be experiencing.
Just a thought: have you considered getting a second opinion on chemo options? Also, you can start a topic here to see what treatments others with similar diagnosis are having.
I hope your onc is good and you will get a quick and significant response from the chemo.0
