Thanks Annette, not  a lot of thought went into my username, just the reverse of Moira.

Have to admit I had a Nana nap today. Just couldn't keep my eyes open after lunch. It has been so humid here it really takes it out of you.

I have started back doing my part in Colin's care this week which might have been a contributor. It is amazing what a couple of months off can do. I am out of shape in more ways than one. LOL Had to wait till well and truly healed to be able to do the lifting, rolling and sliding to get him in and out of the wheelchair and on and off the bed.

It sounds like that TV was a really good addition to your house Annette. Aren't you glad you bought the BIG one! I love to watch those underwater shows too.

I hope your hubby gets you a jug, I always end up burning myself when I use a pot. The water hits the hot sides as you start to pour it and it sizzles all over your hand!

    Take care all!

Midnight, I hope the little kitten makes it. You are going to get less rest with feeding it every 2 hours, so, look after yourself as well.

Chrissy, enjoy your holiday. BTW, I think we have to batten down the hatches due to severe thunderstorm warning. Not sure about Kangaroo Island, but I guess the weather is more severe there.

Jenn, Wahoo!!! I guess by now that you have had your last Herceptin infusion. And that port is coming out next week. ONWARD and FORWARD!!!

Alyson, I play scrabble on FB if you are ever interested in another buddy. I also play with a friend on a daily basis and I am addicted to it.

Lolalee, nice to hear from you. I also lurk some days as I am not sure what to write, but I am always interested in what is being said.

I am having a lazy day today, as I have been in Adelaide every day since Sunday ( sometimes not coming home till after 9pm). I took Mum to the doctor for a prescription and a second opinion for her illness (Cortico Basal Syndrome) as she still lives on her own, and refuses any help. (I still drive 100km round trip at least twice a week to see her and do some chores that she cannot do anymore). The doctors appoint was for 12.30 and mum was seen at 2.45!!! Her walking is getting worse and also her hands are just not working for her. Her brain tells her hands to do something, but the hands wont work and will do something else. She is forever dropping things and still smokes. I dont know how she does it, because the cigarrettes keep falling out of her hands. I cant even light her cigarett lighter for her, because I have never smoked and I am not confident with it.

Yesterday, I looked after Grand daughter number 2 who is 26 months old. She is the opposite of GD number 1. She is so quiet and placid, that I had quite a nice rest with her. I like to see my grand daughters each week if I can. It was too hot to grand daughter number 2 out and my daughter in law had a specialist appointment. She took the 9 week old grand daughter with her as the baby is still breast fed and refusing the bottle altogether. Her appointment was at 2.30pm and the specialist saw her at 4.30pm because she was called out to a birth. If I had known that she was going to be that long, I would have started on dinner, but I could not find anything in the freezer or pantry that I could rustle up. My daughter in law came home just before 6pm and had organised for my son to buy Macdonalds. I just cannot eat Maccas anymore whilst on Xeloda, so I just drove home and had tea just after 8pm last night.

So that is why I am having just a veg out day today. I only went out today to get my blood test done. (Hoping for good news again on Tuesday - fingers crossed)

MIdnight, I usually love Maccas, but everything just has a metal taste nowadays. I used to love bacon and egg Mcmuffins, but now, I only take one or two bites and then I cannot eat any more. I cant wait for my taste buds to be normal again.  I will keep my fingers crossed for the little kitten. xoxox

Ooo Mandy, thanks for the warning re the thunderstorm.  Sis is going to check the weather channel for us shortly as we haven't had the radio or tele on. At the moment, its hot and humid.......there is definitely something brewing but wether it comes to Kingscote or not I guess time will tell.  Having a lovely time over here.......lol......loads of chatting and laughter happening.  We went over to Emu Bay yesterday and called into the Lavendar Farm on the way.......we bought a lovely Lavendar scented candle and some Lavendar Icecream and then went to the beach to eat it.......Yummm!  Id never tried it before but it was very yummy.  We should have taken our bathers as we paddled and the water was divine!  Oh well, I guess there is always next time.

Annette you sound like me with trying to give the little animals a chance at life......i hate it if they are not strong enough to make it.

    Love n hugs all!    Chrissy

    Hi everyone.

Karen, I was on Xeloda for 9 months. My feet started to get sore only after the third round, but by the 6th round I needed a break for them to get better. I used the moo goo religiously a few times a day and always wore soft socks. It helped.

A tumour grew last year. They removed it and now I am on Abraxane. After 2 months scans showed my measurable nodes/growths had significantly reduced in size. My next scans are due in a couple of weeks so of course I believe every pain is cancer. I won't be happy until I know how it's been doing again. This sure can be a tough way to live; scan to scan.

I am really fatigued at the moment, so won't post any more tonight. Just sending my best to everyone who is dealing with stuff.

    Cheers

    Angela

Thanks Angela.....& I have everything crossed for a good result from your scans xx

It sure is a shitty way to live.....I find we make our plans every 9 weeks as that is how often I get scanned.

At this point we've planned a holiday at the end of March just before my next scans!!

And then depending on that result we will plan our next holiday overseas before the following scans.......makes life a bit tough but at least we're living....

I'm on day 4 of Xeloda & can see just a tiny bit of red on both palms of my hands.....don't know about my feet coz I really don't know what they looked like to start with...LOL

Get plenty of rest Angela & know I'm thinking of you...

To everyone else, hope no one is doing it too tough & enjoy the weekend..

Hi everyone!  Today is my DH's birthday (17 Feb) and I'm missing him.  He had some birthday plans with friends but that all fell through (they had to work) so now he's on his own.  I feel sorry for him!  At least it isn't too hot in Perth today, from what I can tell.

Kazzie - thanks for your reply a few days ago, it was nice to hear from you.  Yes, I know what you mean about all the well-meaning people making suggestions for you.  I just mentioned meditation because of all of the things I've come across in my research and in my personal history, meditation helped the most.  Hard to believe something so simple could be so powerful, but there you go.  Sending lots of healing prayers your way.

Mandymoo - have you tried taking glutamine (it's an amino acid) for the metal mouth problem?  It also helps with mouth ulcerations.  Send me a PM if you need to know more about it.

Chrissy - Lavender ice cream!  What a treat.  I used to go to a place in the Perth Hills called "Lavender Patch", it was a little cafe and gift shop.  They had the most divine chocolate lavender cake!  You wouldn't think it would be good, but it was amazing.  Darn it - now I want some.

Just got to share this lovely news - my son and daughter-in-law (they live outside of Prague in Czech Republic) are having baby #2 and it's going to be a girl this time!  I'm so excited!

Sending some hugs Down Under. xox

oh that is sad, being away from you, in another country  and spending Birthday on his own. What is he going to do, can they meet him later for dinner maybe. if the timing was not so vast, you could sit at yr webcam and him the same and he have dinner at the same time and then you could  yrs and it have it together. But the timing is  too far out. Its alright Larnie, i am trying to figure out how you can enjoy some birthday time, even tho you not with him.

I was watching a programme on the history channel last night about Chicago and the time they had that very intense heatwave in 1995, i was in the states that year, on holiday and been to all the  those places, i have friends around those areas, chicago was only a stop in for two days, but that was in april, i went on the 10th of march and returned the 8th of april, that year.  They lost alot of the elderly in that  and they were not on the ball for getting an emergency declared were they, they did finally, but alot already died, some of the elderly were stubourn and would not move or use the  cooling aids that would help themselves and never lasted. Man that would of been very hard on people, then it went to another area east. catch u later.

Hope all you other girls are ok.

Little baby kitten is still with us, he has a little temper too, and a loud cry, lets us know when he is wanting something.  eyes are still shut. brought some special pet milk, but he don't like it much, so have gone back to original. may take  him to vet tomorrow so they can get him to pea, and give us a rundown on what we should be doing for him. We don't see any evidence of him peeing or pooing.he will swell up and pop.

Oooo Annette in order to get the little one to pee and poo you have to stlimulate its resr with a warm soft facewasher.  The mother cat licks the kits to stimulate them and you must do the same everytime you feed........its sooooo important or it will die.  This needs to be done until they are at least three weeks old if not a little longer.  I hope its not too late.  Please don't give it  fresh cows milk or it will scour stick with either the animal powder you bought or funnily enough the full cream long life milk as that has been processed enough to break down that lactose.  I do so hope all goes well with the little mite.

Oh Marnie Im so sorry that you are not with your DH for his birthday......hard day for him but men dont celebrate like women do.  Congrats on the new granddaughter to be, that's really wonderful news and I can feel your excitement through the computer......lol.

Another stinker here on the island!....grrrr!  Oh well, I can look forward to a nice swim later this afternoon as we did yesterday.......I could have stayed in and soaked in the sea water for hours but alas I was not born a mermaid and after alittle while went a whole lot more wrinkly that I am.......lol.....sigh.

hope you are all staying cool anf enjoying your Sunday.

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

Marnie....interesting you should say that about meditation, my onc was recommending it to me last week! He did say it took a bit of practice but could be very beneficial...

Thanks for the suggestions....I'm open to any advice!!

I'd be interested in glutamine as I too have the metal mouth.....yucky!!

And a special big congrats on that little grand daughter you're going to get...when is she due?

Sorry to hear about missing DH's birthday.....you'll have to have an extra big celebration when he's back (((hugs)))

Chrissy.....keep on enjoying yourself & the company of your sister....& I say have some more of that Lavender Icecream. I like the sound of the Lavender Patch that Marnie mentioned in the hills over here.....might have to make that a day out one day soon :)

Annette......the kitten sounds gorgeous but a lot of work!! Are you planning on keeping him?

Not too much happening in my house this weekend....I had a lovely lunch with my sister on Friday, followed be a very successful shopping trip - 3 new dresses! I then had another lovely lunch with hubby & daughter yesterday with more successful shopping....shorts, PJ's (I have a PJ fettish with Peter Alexander being my addiction!!), tops, make up & another dress..... We're going in holiday at the end of March to North Queensland & all the shops seem to be getting in the winter clothes......so need to grab the summer stuff while it's still there....& it's all on sale!

Think I'll take it easy today, fatigue seems to be the only side effect I'm getting from the xeloda so far......I can however, see very slight beginnings of the hand/foot syndrome on my palms - don't know about my feet as I don't know what they looked like before...LOL

Liv.....how are you? Haven't heard from you in awhile...

    Hope everyone is doing ok.

In fact, I must try it tonight as I'm now down to my last 6 rad sessions and feeling fuzzy headed. Do give it a try.....

    Hi all

As usual I've been reading but not posting, everyone seem to have lots of interesting things going on in their lives.

At the end of March I've got 2 hospital appointments, one for a mammogram and one is a surgical appointment. I've seen the Plastic Surgeon and had my yearly checkup so this hopefully will mean that they might book me in for my reconstruction surgery. I asked to speak to my new Manager at work on Friday and told him all about my breast cancer, someone else had told him but I wanted to tell him all the details myself. I feel better that he heard it from me and now I've got hospital appointments he should understand more.

Well I work this week then have 2 weeks off, can't wait.

    Hello girls

Jenn - fabulous news, I remember how I felt when I had my last Herceptin treatment 13 months ago.  It felt really good to have the port out too :-)

Doing the happy dance for you girl!

Annette!  Nice to "meet" you lol, sorry to hear about your medical complications though, I hope they sort those out really soon ((((hugs))))

Chrissy - have a great time on KI - I'd love to go there one day.

Karen, hope those se's haven't kicked in for you.  I'm keeping everything crossed that you have very gentle se's from Xeloda and it kicks the cancer's butt (((hugs)))

It was lovely to read and catch up on everything you are all doing.

I've finally cleaned all my windows - our house has the cleanest windows in the area lol.  But I've paid for all the cleaning and shifting excess furniture to storage, my back is really painful now.  It's been pretty good for the last few months, and going to the gym has helped strengthen everything a lot.  Last time I went to the chiro (about a week and a half ago) he didn't even need to adjust my lower back as it was rock solid.  Well it's pretty wonky at the moment, and I'm having trouble sitting, let alone walking and doing any photography.  Will have to go back for another visit and adjustment.

On top of all the cleaning and storing, I did 6 portrait sessions over the 4 days too, so maybe I did a bit too much lol.

    Have a good one everyone

    Trish

    xoxo

Hi Girls, lol Trish, i guess you may have read my post and see that i am actually midnight, and formally introducing myself as Annette and i don't mind what i am called, long as not late for dinner lol. so i am not a new bod.

For those who have  read about our little kitty, Chrissy, kazzie, he died in the night. My mum used to have a cattery and she said, that young away from their mummys they rarely pull thru, usually there is a problem that they are abandoned  by their mummy, and she said, the vet told her, there are  worst things than death for little kittys that young. we can't do what his  mummy can do, so for the kitty, it's best thing for him and they are alot of work to get them to survive. he did not look too hot last night, was all wet around rear end, hubby  rubbed him dry andhad a heat lamp over him on a thermostat and we turned it down as we thought it was too hot, and he may of a got a chill in between times. tried to give him a chance. i said, for hubby to leave cage set up, there is bound to be more from the farm. you can only try i guess.

We were trying to think of  a name if he did survive, and there is a add on tv with a cat, and he says his name is not puss as  that what somebody called him, and he says  my name is not  puss, it is Nickoli stroganof the 3rd, and he drinks from porcilin only, the add is for insulation in a house and lays all over the  stuff keeping warm looks at everybody as though he is the king of the house lol. the kitty would  of been called nicky for short. that would of suited both female or male.

well have a bit to do today, dam cockatoo wants his special cereal and  sqawks til he gets it, which is special k and nutrigrain. he gets louder and louder too, so better give him his breaky. catch yas  later lovely ladies.

Awe Annette I'm so sorry the litte kitty didn't make it.......he was very young to be away from his mum.  Anyway, at least you now know about the rear end stimulation that is required at each feed now.

I'm typing away on my new laptop but I can tell I got waaay to used to using the iPad and having it do all the capitals etc for me.  I type some and go back to read and realise I need to add all the full stops and caps.......grrrrr!......maybe I should be using the laptop more now that I have the new one and get back into the habit of doing my own caps and full stops.....hahahaha!

Had a lovely night last night over here........it has been soooo hot through the day that if we went swimming we would have burned to a crisp so we have been going down just after tea.  Last night we decided to get fish and chip and eat them at the beach before going in.  Not much swimming was done but be bobbed like corks set afloat on the ocean......pure heaven in the cool waters with the sun going down......i coud feel the fluid retreating out of my tissue and back into my body where my kidneys could deal with it.  I think I was in the water for al least an hour and the only reason I got out was I was really starting to look like the proverbial prune......hahahahaha!  This is my last day here and I will be setting of home tomorrow afternoon.....boohoo!....ah well, I guess I can start panning my next visit......i'm sure my sis won't mind.

Trish don't you just hate it when you have donr the big clean for the sale anad you look around and think why didn't you have it like this all the time........Good luck with the sale and sure hope it sells quickly for you.  Take care of that back!  you only have one.

    Have a good day all!

Thanks Chrissy, yummy that sounds like heaven, where abouts are  with yr sister, i think i missed that a long the way. where  ever it is it sounds like heaven,  yummy fishnchips and then a swim, cool as.

Trish, now that you have lovely clean windows, this happened to my mum on accasions, a bird would fly into them and  knock its self senseless or kill its self. they don't see a window and keep flying, she used to shut curtains abit, so they could see it was something there. i hope it goes well the sale. rest that back though and take care.

Annette, I'm on Kangaroo Island.  My sis lives in Kingscote on top of a hill overlooking the bay, and to get to the best swimming place is just at the end of her street.......literally three minutes in the car but a bit far to walk for me.  She does however get a most wonderful breeze at night so all that is neccessary to sleep is a small fan to move the cooled air around the room.  I'm loving it but unfortunately have to make my way home tomorrow.

Thats ok Jenn, the little thing still had its cord and really we were pushing to think he would survive. too young. I am sorry  you have a headache and that lightheadeness is horrible.  TG you  have the day off  tomorrow, so make sure you rest. How lonfg is the flight between  Melbourne and  Sydney?  I did not have that herceptin, so don't know how that affects you, but i know about headaches and vertigo. Hope you get home ok.

Gosh there has been a driveway accident involving a young one year old boy, there  are  alot of those happening of late. I know kids can be everywhere where you do not expect them to be. I reckon cars with backing cameras should be the in thing. Poor parents, apparently happened this evening up north of the island from us in Warkworth. very sad.

Chrissy it sounds like you have had a wonderful holiday. I am interested in what you said about the fluid retreating from your tissues into your body. Could you please explain it to me?

Grandson is going well. DD is discovering how tiring it is but is very happy. Everyone warned them that their dog would be difficult when bubby was born so they are keeping a close eye on it - baby cried yesterday and the dog came and dropped a toy next to the bouncer.

Kylie the only thing your DD needs to do with baby anf dog is introduce them ie get down on dogs level and let it smell baby.......it will know it part of its pack and become babys protector.....they really are awesome animals.

Ah now fluid.........I have kidneys that are way too efficient so when the temp goes over 25 they decide that I need to conserve fluid even though I am constantly drinking and store the water in my tissue so I just swell up like a big sponge.......lol......when my core and body temp drop quickly, I can feel the sweeling receeding and the kidneys letting the fluid go.....and go......and go......lol.  I always thought there was a problem with them not working but the doc says no way!  they work too well.  It's not unheard of that I put on three or four kilos just in excess fluid weight that goes as quickly as it comes once I am cool.  I try to avoid heat as much as possible and always use the aircon when I am home.  Unfortunately my sis does not have on as the temp rarely goes over 30 on the Island........these last week has been one out of the record books.

Typical though, tomorrow I'm going home and guess what? yup the temp did a complete turnaround this afternoon and the temp dropped about 15 degrees!  Its just lovely right now!.......lol......that sound just like my  luck.......always back to front.  Never mind, I can always come over anytime I want......I definitely know my sis does not mind.

Liv glad you had a good time over the weekend!.......and that you could rest and revive today.  It's always good when we can forget for a time all the crap that goes with this disease.

    Have a good evening all!

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy
