Karen, ((((hugs)))) our thoughts and prayers are with you today. Hoping that the oncologist has a good plan up his sleeve and that the meds he prescribe will kick ass!!
Trish, today will be a very difficult day for you, but knowing that Gus will no longer suffer will be a blessing. He knows that you are doing the best for him and that he will just fall asleep and no longer have to struggle. xoxox

Oh Trish, I'm sorry about your Gus. He was probably trying to thank you last night for all the love and care you have given him over the years. Such a sad day but a day that he will no longer be in pain or wobbly.........he will be able to run freely like a puppy once again. ((((((((Hugs))))))))

Chrissy, Do you know what causes cramp, this morning i got the most terrible cramp in my calf muscles and infact my legs are still aching from it now, both legs at the same time, owww, it was very painful, hubby had to help me stretch out my legs and help me to relax them, i do get cramp in one or other , but not the same time and i was busting for the loo, and was stuck as i could not do anything. for a few mins, so do you know what causes cramp. don't want a repeat of that. As i said, they are still achey from it.
Karen, fingers crossed for better news today.
Mandy, how are you? Hope you are ok.
Oriam, Hi, hows things going?
Angela, how are you doing?
Hope everybody is ok, some not being around much, but thinking of you all.

Midnight, I got a terrible cramp in the night about 3 months ago, only in one leg though. It was so painful that it kept me awake for a couple of hours and when I woke up next day, it was still extremely tender, so I went to my local Doctor as I had trouble walking being so painful. I had to have an Ultrasound immediately. Diagnosis was that I have DVT in that leg and I am now on blood thinners. I hope that is not the case with you.
Perhaps it is a side effect if you are on new medication???
((((Trish)))
Cheers

Annette if they happen again that bad do get them checked but taking magnesium does help a lot as a muscle relaxant. If you take too much, the only thing that will happen is you will run to the loo as it will loosen your bowels.
Thinking if you Trish.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Cuddles and hugs Trisha. How awful you must feel. I'm so sorry.

Tamoxifen can cause leg cramps. It's quite a common side-effect. But if you are at all worried get your doctor to check you out :-)
Haven't heard from Karen yet - hoping it went ok today for her...
I am finally feeling better after that year and a bit of treatments. Still a few side-effects from the Tamoxifen (including leg/foot cramps) but each weekend I have been doing stuff that I had no energy for all this time. I even hung a picture last weekend that had been sitting propped against the wall gathering dust for a year!
Really very busy at work and spent the past three days at an on-campus session for my university subject. Sorry I am a bit quiet around here...

It was horrible. I feel like I've let him down, I know I haven't but it still feels bloody awful :-(
He did go very peacefully though, vet gave him a tranquilliser first, and he was pretty sleepy when he got the needle.
This is the third time we've had to do this, and it doesn't get any easier.
DH was sobbing as hard as me, he's a soft hearted man.
But my darling Gus is at Rainbow Bridge with my boys Mac, Monty and Paddy, running free and in no more pain. I'm sure he's just happy he can scratch himself now.
Thanks girls you're the best.
Trish

Hi all
Trish sorry for the loss of your dog, Gus. A few years ago my sister put her dog down too with nearly the same symptons as yours, it was very sad for all of us as we felt she was our dog as well.
Midnight your not having much luck lately, hope that your feeling better.
Went to the hospital again today for another fill in my expander. It's about half way there and looking quite good. I've been lucky as I haven't had much pain when I have read that lots of ladies do.
What's happening in the world at the moment? Bombs and explosions going off in US, Earthquakes in about 3 countries, lots of other bad news this year so far, etc. I think we will have to start heading for the hills !!!

So I stay on the xeloda for now (yay) & he wants to keep an eye on the liver, so all in all, I am one pretty stoked lady.......

Thanks so much for all the love and support.....it really helped me get through the last couple of days xxxx
I will catch up on all the news very soon.
Big, big (((((hugs))))) to Trish.........xxxxx

Oh Trish, our animals are so dear to us, yes he is in Rainbows Bridge, i hope that he and all our doggy"s are having a good play now. I wonder if he has met shadow our little dog that was run over, when you first introduced me to rainbows bridge. Gus will be free of pain, but i know it does not make us feel better. Gentle hugs.
Thanks Girls for your answer re cramp, my legs are feeling better, but still achey. Chrissy, i may take some of that, i brought some for hubby as he was having muscle spasms in his lower back, i may take them myself. Jenn i forgot about tamoxifen being able to cause that and Mandy, i will look into that about DVT as its right thru our family, thanks.
catch you all tomorrow. love Annette

Hi ladies, I got a phone call regarding my tuesday appointment for colonoscopy, they rang me a few minutes ago to enlighten me that they have found the exta referral for the gastroscopy, that they were denying was sent and i had to keep checking the doc and he had sent it and i know he did, was two days after other one i am having. Thats when i was getting fobbed off from them and the nurse and could not get a answer, but she rung me up apologising and saying that the referral was lost and now they will do it the same time as colonoscopy. She said, they were rather embarassed about it and surgeon was not very happy as that could be the one he needs more than other, which i have said, from beginning, i have more problems that end than the bottom end, i told her that i was getting the fob off from GPs and them. So thats good i am all good for tuesday. Hubby right, you do have to chase them up. hope everybody ok. Trish hope you ok.

Trish, I had tears in my eyes with your story. Dogs are such a special part of our lives. Thinking of you and hubby, such a difficult time for you in so many ways. x
Karen, that is great news. A trip sounds wonderful.
Aussie, good to hear your expanders are going well.
Jenn, glad that you are starting to feel better.

Midnight, Hooray!!! I hope that they start giving you the red carpet treatment now because you deserve it, after being fobbed off for so long. Hoping that your luck will change and that you will start feeling better soon. ((((hugs))))
Trish, I dont know what to say, only that my thoughts are with you. It is such an empty and lonely feeling once your pet has gone. It takes a long time to get used to it as well, because sometimes you think that they are still in the house, and then you remember they have gone. We had a Jack Russell cross who was 23 years old, and she had to be put down last October as she was struggling and uncomfortable, and I still sometimes think that she is here. You did the right thing for Gus and he is now happy and running around in Rainbow Bridge. xoxox
Karen, I am so happy that the scans were not as bad as initally thought . That is the trouble with this disease, we are all in the land of the unknown, not knowing what is around the corner. We all just have to hang on as best as we can because we are living in exciting times and I believe that technology is progressing so fast, that the cure is getting closer and closer.
Aussie, I am glad that your expander went well yesterday. Can you see any difference yet? it sounds quite exciting.
Jenn, nice to hear from you. Dont work too hard. xx
I am off to Yoga soon and then I will drive to Adelaide to pick up GD2 and bring her back to stay with us for the weekend. I am really looking forward to it. We had GD1 last weekend and GD2 is 3 weeks younger, and boy are they so different in personality. There is plenty to do in Victor Harbor, so they really enjoy themselves.
Cheers

lol, the girl who was fobbing me off as it was the hospital nurse who rung me the first time, this girl, sharon. apologised to me for fobbing me off, her words, denying the referral existed just rung as well. and told me, they were going to get another time for gastroscopy, but the surgeon threw his arms up in the air and insisted on the two been done at same time, she said, he was not happy at all, it had been lost, threw bit of a hissy. whoops. Hopefully they may listen to their patients, we not idiots. lol.

Hi girls
Feeling much better this morning.....it's been a pretty stressy few days & yesterday in particular was a big day! I was knackered last night & in bed by 7.30!!! Trouble is I was up at 5.30 this morning! 😴
We have a travel agent coming to the house tomorrow to put a trip together quickly for us - she knows the full situation - so I'm feeling pretty excited.......😜
Trish.....I hope you're doing ok without your Gus. I saw the pic on Facebook but couldn't comment coz we're not friends....must put in a friend request!!....he was a beautiful dog! 🐶🐶🐶
Annette....so glad you're finally getting some action & hopefully answers.
Mandy.....have a fab weekend with GD2! I'm sure you'll be worn out at the end of it.
Jenn...loved the pics of you & your daughter on your shopping trip
Chrissy....you've got me motivated with all your knitting, sewing etc! I used to knit & sew a lot when the kids were little but haven't done it for years....my plan now is to make some baby items to leave behind for my future grandchildren!
Have a great weekend lovely ladies...

Trish - What a gorgeous photo of Gus on FB. My DS who you met in Canberra said to send a hug.
Midnight - you really have been through the wringer with this. I find if I ask who I am speaking to and make it clear I am writing their name down they seem a lot more careful.
Regarding techs who should keep their mouths shut. When I went for mammo this week the tech told me I didn't want to have too many in case it gave me cancer..... I do understand her logic but mmmm.
Mandy moo you do get about. How lovely you get to spend time with each GC. I get to see my GS tomorrow which is exciting.

Hello everyone
Feeling less weepy today :-) Still looking for Gus where ever I go in the house though.
Midnight - let's see if I've followed directions properly to post Gus's picture -
I went back to the dr today as I'm still feeling pretty awful as far as the pneumonia goes. He's put me on stronger antibiotics and I've had (yet another) blood test. I told him that lately I don't seem to be able to get over things like I once did. He says that chemo can sometimes just make your body and immune system different - and you are never really the same again. I think I have to agree with him, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear.
Karen - I was so happy to hear your news - a bright spot in my awful day yesterday ((((hugs))))
Trish

Trish, he is beautiful. He looks abit like poppy here, she is a boarder collie b/w, is he a full collie? lovely photo's, thanks, i have saved them into my pictures. I hope this Pneumonia clears up soon, it will take the stuffing out of you. big hugs. yep each day you look for him, but it will get much better, they are like our kids, and as we don't have any kids, i think you the same aye, the animals become the family you don't have. thanks for pics
Kylie, has been a rough spin, but it will get better, n ow all my tests have come and everybody finally doing their jobs, i will get somewhere. hope you ladies have a great night and good weekend. love to all. xxxx

Trish he was beautiful........but in the first pic you can sure see his age. Sorry that you are not yet on the road to recovery......and yes, chemo does change the way our immune system works and reacts. One of the SEs they don't tell you about until after. Sure hope the new anti B's kick in quickly and get rid of that infection.
Well boys are here and like all teenagers, slept most of the day.....lol. The request for dinner tonight is chilli con carne so that is in the pot and waiting for the bugs to start biting.....lol. I think winter has arrived with a bang.......I'm thinking we may just light the fire tonight at the air is freezing! Only a few weeks ago we were complaining about the heat.
hoping all have had a good day.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

lol Chrissy, the chilli will heat them all up lol. I am not a chilli person, or really a curry person either, tho i do love curried sausages, after tonight i am off the red meat till colonoscopy, white meat and and white bread and light foods, according to my list of do and do not eat. good night, enjoy yr tribe.

Trish, thank you for the pictures. I agree that you can see Gus's age in the first picture and how lively and active he was in the second picture.
Chrissy, I agree, that the nights are getting quite chilly especially where you are.
I forgot to mention that I have found another lump in front of my left collar bone ( I had right breast and lymph glands removed in 2007. It is a lymph gland I am sure. I have noticed something there for the past 3 or 4 weeks and it has been growing slowly. I thought that it was the collar bone itself, but today I noticed that it is seperate and moves when I poke it. I spoke to the Oncology Registrar on the phone so they will look at it on Tuesday, and said that they are not surprised and not to worry about it. I will also get them to look at the lump sticking out in my lower abdomen. Hopefully it is just a cyst or something. Getting a bit frustrated with all this but I guess that is to be expected and I still have no symptoms lol.

Mandy here's hoping that those two growths are nothing to worry about and it's good that your onc is aware. I think it's gtreat that you have no sysmptoms.......to me that would mean being able to carry on almost normally.
Annette the only time the boyss get chilli is when they visit me......eldest GS even likes it for breakfast...... I make sure the pot is big enough to allow a feast.....lol.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Well Chrissy, hope the chilli went down well, be abit of a hot house at your place. lol when i am mothers place, i get her to do the lambs fry and bacon and hearts and Ron's weiner snitzel, i stuff that up on every accasion, she good at them and steak as well. i don't know what i do wrong, but i am not good at it, i do lovely stews and mince, roasts, but steak and stuff, not my forte, i get her to cook them, she very good at lambs fry and stuff like that. Gosh it's flaming cold. Grrr.
Mandy, i do hope those lumps prove to be ok and not anything to worry about, we both seeing docs on Tuesday, be big day for us both.
have a good day ladies.

hi ladies went to see my surgeon last thursday. it went ok but i caught him a bit off guard when i mentioned that i was thinking of having the right breast prophylaticly removed during recon surgery. he said he didnt recommend it because he doesnt agree with what the geneticist said when she said because of my genetic fault that there would be a 50% chance of cancer in the right side he thinks that figure is a bit high. but if thats what i want he will do it. he examined me and was very happy with how im healing almost two years out from surgery. So now he wants me to have an mri on my chest but particularly the right side breast.
I will have appointment with him in september for the results but also he refered me to a reconstruction clinic where they will have an idea of what the schedule is like for my operation. at our previous meeting he suggested lat dorsi for my recon but i guess i hadnt decided fully on the right breast then so thats why that threw him so now they can look at my file and work out the best method taking into account the radiation ive had but also my age and wanting to get the best result. so the clinic i will be visiting in july sometime and then mri in early september.

Jenn, I was wondering about my foot cramps, I didn't know about that side effect! I'll make sure I take some magnesium....
Trish, Gus was beautiful!
Karen, glad to hear about your results. Enjoy your holiday planning, I think the planning and anticipation are almost as much fun as the actual holiday.
Mandy, best wishes for Tuesday.
Annette, glad to hear things are finally getting sorted out for you.
Melp27, best wishes for your decision.
Kylie and everyone else, positive thoughts for the week ahead....0
