I often wonder: what ever happened to the promise of the paperless office that technology was supposed to deliver? Then there would be no filing and no paper cuts!

Mmm, Jenn, using the receptionist to do the filing is an even better idea!!!  Good for you!!!

Racy, I don't mind filing it's just the paper cuts I hate but I don't have to deal with either any more as I no longer work.

I work as a receptionist in a small office so I have to do the filing .

Am always nicking myself and because I have LE need to use betadine and bandaids on anything that breaks the skin .

I think I am the only one to use or know where the first aid kit is . But I did make sure that it was all fully equipped and tailored to me .

I used to run the office of our small business so of course had to do all the paperwork.  When I say small I really mean small....lol....it was just DH and I......he did the selling and I did the office.....worked well for many years but now we are both retired.

He has a shop full of books and antiques............his first love and passion.  He doesn't consider it work at all and his hours open are truly when he feels like it.

The only paper I handle these days is the mail that comes to the house and my photo paper........I don't even buy magazines or the news paper so that rules them out too....lol.  My fingers stay safe....yay!!!!

I don't get paper-cuts but do presently have a broken-off pinkie nail on my mx side.  Only did it yesterday morning while stripping and re-making the bed in a hurry because DH was out and I wanted it made 'my way!'  If I have hit the end of that finger once, I have hit it 100 times since.

That'll teach me to do sneaky things but ohhhhh..............I do like a properly made bed.  These days, the slightest ripple under me and my bones will scream at me all night long.

Lyndal, my Dr is Eastgate and I  will be down there next on April 6th.  I have been called into the consultation by other Drs, but Dr E usually comes in at some stage to check me out.

    Sheila.

Susie, I know what you mean about the chest pains. I thought I was having a heart attack for 16 hours. Ended up in tears cause I couldnt wipe my own bottom, it was total agony. No way I could get myself to a hospital as the slightest movement was horrendous so called the home visit doctors who gave me strong pain killers and after another hour or so it subsided. Problem is now I have cracked a few teeth and if I got the extractions (like normal people do) my chance of getting necrosis is 11%. Seeing as my chances of having dcis, then having microinvasion and having to do chemo etc were all a much lower % - I dont like those odds lol. That stuff has a half life of 7 years... I spoke to my gp and he said there are many similiar medications without the side effects and to ask for them in April instead of the zonedronic acid.  He couldnt understand why my onc wants me to have the annual dose every 6 months either. says its overkill. So I will ask Dr Hadley more about it when I see her. Also my jaw and teeth just dont feel right. Probably some movement from the Arimidex softening bone tissue?? Guess I'll ask about that when I see Hadley as well. My next appointment isnt till 20/4 what a shame we arent on the same day, would have been lovely to meet and talk to you while enduring the couple of hours they always run late by.

Kate, Im so sorry mate. I had a chemo put off cause the nurses tried 3 times to get into a vein and failed. I got myself all het up to just do the damn chemo and it was like the end of the world when they didnt proceed. I know exactly how you feel. As the other girls said ask for Neulasta to take home after each treatment, it does wonders at improving the cell count. I had a nurse neighbour inject mine the first few times and after that I gained confidence and did the rest myself.

Lyndal - I have my infusions at HOCA Chermside. What fixed my chest pains was 1 dexamethasone tablet would you believe it. It was me who asked my onc if taking one would help and he said "why not". The second and third treatments were fine because I asked them to do it really slowly. I know he is giving it to me more for the recurrence prevention than for bone density so I'm happy to do it.

    Morning girls

We've had a night of rain and storms.  At least this time DH slept in the back room with one of the dogs (they get very upset when there's storms around) and I had the bed to myself and just one rough collie lol  We got 33mm overnight which is a lovely drop.

My DH has a very bad back - it probably should be operated on to help him, but he refuses - the risks are too high and only a small percentage rate that it would be successful.  He gets chest pains a fair bit when his spine is out.  Once he goes to the chiro it is fixed.

Paper cuts!  Jenn you've started something lol.  My old workplace was moving towards a "paperless" office, but it was a very large organisation and had a very sophisticated filing system.  They had more paper than I've seen in any organisation!  But given that they were receiving over a thousand applications from overseas doctors per year I guess that's understandable.

In this job, there's not a lot of paper - it really is almost a paperless office.  No office will be completely paperless, but this one really comes close :-)

Hope you all have a good day - Racy - I'll be checking your photos on FB this afternoon.

Kate - hope you are feeling ok today

Jenn - hope you are improving

    Love

    Trish

Ladies, I am thinking we should start a separate topic in the friendships forum about our proposed get together. This will allow us to potentially reach more members who don't normally read this thread, and help to keep discussion on that topic together.

What do you think? Does anyone want to start the topic or would you like me to do it?

Racy, go for it!  That sound like a good plan of attack as I know there are a heap more Aussies on the boards that don't come to this thread.

I've been looking up flights and think around the 23rd June would be good to come down to Adelaide. I can come down from 23rd to the 30th. I reckon she'll have the baby early (due on the 3rd) so it should be safe by then. It is really difficult to plan when you don't know when it's going to happen. Qantas has a cheap flight on those days. I checked out Virgin and they want 299 one way!!! Qantas is only 175. I have to check if I will have enough leave by then - I used it all up on the big trip last year.

So, I'll talk to Annie and see if she thinks that would be a good time to come and I'll check if I have enough leave and let you know. I did try to call her but she's not answering.

Had the day off to go to lunch for Steve's birthday with some people he used to work with - wish I hadn't - quite boring being the designated driver.

Work is really giving me the sh^&s at the moment so it was good to get away for the day.

My back is improving - went to the physio again this morning.

Logged in to work and I'll have enough leave by 23rd June, though I think she didn't want me there when it was his birthday on the 30th - sigh. Anyway, I'll talk to her over the weekend and let you all know. Maybe I can come down mid-week. It looks like now would be a good time to book the flights.

In the meantime see if the weekend of the 23rd June suits you.

Sorry, not a good day here. Got up with a bit of a sore throat this morning, after waking at 3am and not getting back to sleep. Had a shower to get ready for work and then burst into tears and went back to bed.

    So another sick day :-(

Spent the day watching tv on the bed...

Did manage to pop out to the local shops. Went to the butcher and bought the biggest veal cutlets I've ever seen. They cost $32 for the four, but were so worth it since I was craving MEAT. I made creamy potato bake, the cutlets with a mustard & avocado gravy and broccolini for dinner despite still feeling slightly nauseous. Feel better after eating the "hunk" of meat :-)

Jenn - good to hear from you.  Sorry you aren't having a good day - but the meat will help! lol

Sue - good that your back is getting better.

I'm getting an abcess on a tooth.  Bloody hell.  It's been giving me grief since chemo - and Taxotere pushed it to the edge.  It's very loose and I'll have to have it out.  Problem it's a bottom tooth, and right in the middle of my mouth so I'll have to have a plate!  I already have a partial plate for one tooth on the top.  Didn't want another one.
