Good on you Jenn, great to hear your eating so well, and Im very jealous of the cutlets and potato bake, you sure eat better than I do lol.

Make sure you take your temperature regularly to ensure you dont have a fever though. Sore throat could bring it on and you know that means you have to be very careful.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the sore throat isnt the start of a cold.

Hope you get a lot of rest and relaxation over the weekend mate.

Jen and Kate, make sure you are eating a high protien diet while on chemo as it does help the body process..........gosh I wish I had remembered that earlier for you both but your post Jenn jolted my memory.  Probably why you were craving meat.

    Hi Girls

    I'm here.

Had a very productive day today, lots of gardening etc, then did a fortnight's grocery shopping, had a long catch up chat with Donna, my McGrath nurse, who assured me that low WBC happens all the time, and they usually allow 24 weeks for chemo, and as I am only having 4 I have lots of time for it. So I felt reassured greatly after her call. Then I went and saw my BS. He's given me different anitbiotics, Keflex or something lke that. He didn't think my breasts would have caused my wbc count to be low, but isn't that a sign of infection? Donna thinks the extra week to recover usually works for most people. Here's hoping that's the case for me too.

Wow, talking about flights already. I will have to start looking out for some good deals. How exciting and something really lovely to look forward to.

Don't worry Chrissy, I eat a lot of protein. I am a true carnavore. I just close my mind to what it is exactly I'm eating and where it came from.

Trisha - Just found out how very right you were about spider webs and bald heads. Not a good combo, also not a good look for rest of family when it happened out the back and I'm doing my icky-yicky dance with accompanying eww eww sounds. Even the dogs wondered if I had been zapped by a taser gun.

Must remember to always wear my hat outside LOL xx

Good to hear you are doing ok Kate.

Yep - spider webs and bald heads.  Never noticed them before I was bald lol.  As we live in the country the spiders build a lot of webs outside, and never before in my life have I walked into so many of them as when I was bald.

Jenn - how are you today?

    Trish

Jenn, hoping today is a better day for you. Maybe having your family around will help take your mind off cancer and lift your mood.

    Just a little question please...

I have noticed in the last few days especially, that when I am standing for extended periods of time (usually in the garden, watering and pulling out the occasional weed, so nothing I consider extrenuous) that I keep feeling like I am about to topple over, I sort of get a bit giddy, and it can come in waves but it is always vaguely there. Is this fatigue? I feel really alert mentally, not yawning or feeling especially tired, but I can't think what else it would be?

Jenn - I too hope you are feeling a bit better now that you are out of the first week and have a nice weekend with your family waiting on you hand and foot.

Its all part of it Kate. First off the dr's would have told you to avoid the sun as you can burn in a few mins (I know I did). Dehydration and the heat of the day could be a part of it, mingled with fatigue. Youve  got serious poisons running through your system and need to listen to your body. I fell over twice (in very very slow motion as I remember it lol).

Standing for extended periods of time isnt good through chemo from my experiences. If you want to be in the garden, Id recommend getting some umbrellas out there and some seats scattered here and there and when you feel it coming on, head to a seat for a few mins or more.

No reason you cant do the things you enjoy when you feel well enough, but cater to your physical needs in advance and hopefully you wont get woozy

Kate - I always wore my hat outside - didn't want the neighbours to see my bald head. Take it easy.

Jenn - hope you are OK

My back is still painful after 3 treatments. I go again on Monday after work, so hopefully it will be sorted out. It was fine yesterday, but I woke up in pain again. My heat pack is my best buddy at the moment.

Sue you really did a number on your back!!!  Three treatments and it's still plagueing you!....Ugh!!!   sure hope you get some relief before the new week begins.

Ltndal you should never have told me about those puzzles!......lol........I've almpst completed the second one already........Love, love , love them and no mess!............note to self....you do not need to complete puzzle in one sitting!

Kate take it easy!  When you are in the garden carry one of those little fold up stools so instead od standing to water you can sit and water and do it at dusk so you don't burn.

Jenn how you doing today?  Hope you are beginning to feel better.

Racy good for you for starting the get together thread....really good idea!

Trish and Vivvy how are you today?  relaxing for the weekend I hope.

    Love n hugs all.  Chrissy

I didn't know about those online jigsaw puzzles but I just googled one and did it...what fun! Didn't like it when I compared the "average " time to complete my puzzle compared to how long it actually took me! Still I haven't done one for years....I may improve.

Felt like crap again this morning and this sore left side of my throat is still there - but no temp and no worse...

Hubby managed to talk me into a walk and then took me to Maccas for breakfast because I was craving a bacon and egg McMuffin - and he's worked out that this is like when I was pregnant and got cravings - it's easier to just get me what I crave :-)

Have spent the rest of the day taking it easy. Expecting a friend to pop over. She's going to make us a beef bourgignon and stay for dinner.

I still feel "poisoned" and it has lasted a few days longer (so far) this time. This is not boding well for work.

Sorry about the back still being sore Sue. Hopefully it will start feeling better soon!

Jenn sorry to tell you, but the effects of chemo are cummulative so there is every possibility that you won't be feeling wonderful by the end of this but it does get better very quickly once you stop the chemo.

You are doing the right thing by resting.

I have just noticed the start of a pattern. I have one day where I am really really good and feel energetic (but I DON"T do too much) just little things like cleaning etc, but the next day I will just feel like treacle. Today is that day. I've just had a nanna nap for 3 hours. But don't feel improved.

I'm day 22 today - I would have thought that it would be all out of me by now. Guess I am wrong.

We are off to a BBQ tonight - it is the last thing I feel like doing, but it is to meet our future sister in laws family. Doubly not looking forward to being the 'person with cancer' as her sister has had it and is 'dying' to meet me. I really just don't feel up to having to compare notes as I am sure she will want to do. I just want to sit in a corner and be invisible. I just can't bothered with the effort of being social tonight.

Not too thrilled to hear about your reaction Jenn and that it seems to be rougher for you this time around. Enjoy your dinner though, that sounds lovely.

I was going to rest this afternoon but went to BigW and found a 19" digital tv for the kitchen - only $98 with a 3 year warranty - great!!! I've been wanting one as Steve often has control of the big one and I might want to watch a digital channel - now I can. BUT I didn't get an antenna for it, so back to the shops tomorrow to get one. Don't know why I thought it would work without one - stupid. Never mind Dick Smith have them for 20 bucks - the wonders of the internet :)

Kate & Jenn - so sorry you are both suffering - I know it's not nice, but before you know it, it will all be over :)

Hi Kate, can you politely say you prefer not to talk about BC? I would suggest stay close with hubby but it might end up being one of those segregated Aussie barbecues. Good luck anyway.

Jezza, look up lenagames.com and download her astra jigsaw puzzle sets, you get 6 free jigsaws per set and can buy the remainder of each set if you wat to down the track. They are by far the best format of computer jigsaws Ive ever come across and they dont time you lol.You can make them as big or small as you like too.

Jenn, so sorry your still not feeling right and even more sorry to say Chrissy is right with the accumulative aspect of chemo. You have to rest a lot and dont beat yourself up if you cant work all the way through it.

Kate, lol I still get that and its from my arimidex, its no where near as bad as with chemo, but I still get to pay for any activity I do the day before. If I have to do something fairly active, I start early in the morning then take at least a 4 hour break and then do a little bit more. It works to keep me mostly fit the next day. Trying to do it all in one day would mean I would be crippled the next

Susie, congrats ont he tv, your tempting me to go out and buy one, but I dont spend enough time in the kitchen haha

Hey Kate I hope the barby went well. Its hard to know what to do with ppl thinking that you will have so much in common with others who have gone through cancer. This has happened so many times with me as I am 20 years out now.

A number of times I have met ppl at functions and I have been told that they have recently been diagnosed. I know that they have been told about me as well. Usually I just say sorry about your dx and I hope you're doing ok and then change the subject. I know if they have questions they can bring it up again but they usually don't. I think...yeah...you are sick of it and just want a normal night out. Its nice to meet someone who has been through it and is doing well but that connection doesn't need in depth discussion esp. on a first meeting.

Hope you enjoyed your night out.

    hugs

I bailed on the bbq. I knew I just wasn't up for it but DH went at my insistance. If it was a good day of mine it wouldn't have been a problem (I can talk to anyone) but I haven't been able to get out the PJ's or off the sofa, and that's where I'm staying.

I feel bad because my future SIL had been trying to get everyone together for the past few months. Oh well. The wedding is at the end of March, by my reckoning the day after my last chemo. I'm in charge of the decorations which I'm excited about. Guess I will meet them at the hens party which is going to be here. That's the plan anyway. We all know how those can change though Undecided

Kate - you probably made the right decision, there will be times when you are just not up to doing anything other than laying on the lounge.

Well, I'm down with a full blown abcess on my tooth.  I had a tooth that was giving me a bit of grief before bc, and during chemo it and it's neighbour became quite loose.  Now I have the full swelling, pain and can't eat or close my mouth properly.  It's the bottom two middle teeth, so getting them out is going to mean a plate.  Bugger.

Went to ER yesterday in Cooma (it's only half an hour away) and got antibiotics and strong pain killers, so not feeling very well now.

In a fog - almost like being back on chemo.

Well all I can say is that my ovaries must be made of steel. 2nd tx and now my period arrives right on time yet again. The no periods SE is one that I really could have lived with - but no, I don't get that one...

Troat is a bit better today. Have determined that it feels like I have an ulcer rather than a swollen throat. Tried gargling but it's too far down for anything to quite reach.

Trish...I hear you on the tooth abcess...I'm over $3000 out of pocket for my root canal/ abcess and its STILL not fixed. Which tooth??..one of my two front top teeth! I have to go back to my endodontist who is arrogant and seems to get impatient if I ask questions.I've decided I hate him.

Kate...you did the right thing by not going if you weren't feeling up to it. Nothing worse than trying to put on a happy face when you don't feel well.

Glad the throat is a little better Jenn....sore throats are the pits.

I'm feeling my old self today. If it happens again tomorrow then I guess there is fatigue pattern emerging and I can do things one day, and rest up the other.

You live and learn. Not happy to hear that fatigue generally gets worse after each treatment... it's the only real SE I've had, so I can't complain, but it is just debilitating nonetheless.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. It's actually cooler over here today and overcast. I need to do some light pruning and tidying up, so that's my plan for the day. Oh and I don't step outside without my hat on.

Boy!!!  did I sleep or what????   I took that little sleeping pill last night and woke up just after noon!!!!  Fourteen hours!!!!  I can't believe it!!!   Must say I feel great....er...this afternoon...lol.....and will probably have enough energy to do some housework a bit later....right now I'm having brunch and eating tomatoes from my garden on toast.

Jenn it does indeed sound like you have a throat ulcer and they are the pits.  Sure hope it heals quickly.  Your period?  you gotta be kidding!  Didn't you tell your ovaries it's quitting time?  With everything else you have to put up with during chemo that really has to be the icing on the cake of yuk!  All I can say is your ovaries must be made of steel!

Kate the fatigue cycle can hit at anytime, the secret to dealing with it is a little often rather than everything one day and nothing the next.  Pacing yourself really does help get through it.

Oooo Trish!  That has got to be very painfull!!  I sure hope the aunty B's and the pain killers work quickly so you can get it seen to.   Time for a little R & R on the couch.

Nice to see you Jezza!  Are you going to come to the get together in Adelaide?  Sure would like to see you!

Sue how is your back?  Any improvement?  I sure hope so.   Love the idea of a tele in the kitchen but we are a one tele couple and that is in the lounge.  My DD2 suggested I get one for the bedroom for days when I'm not at my best but my thoughts are that the bedrooms are for sleeping not tv watching and if I'm not good enough  to get up and watch, I'm not good enough to watch period.  But I can't belive it only cost you $98!  That's amazing and for that price I might be tempted to get one for the kitchen too.

Lyndal puzzle #5 is on the way!   Yes....I'm hooked....lol!

Racy what's happening with your exercise?  Is it making any difference to you weight?  We need a weekly report so we can see how you are doing.

Have I missed anyone?  Hope not...lol.....well time for me to get my but out of this chair and get stuck into some cleaning as the floors are starting to look like they are growing hair and desperately need the vac putting over them.  Hope your Sunday is a good relaxing one!

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy
