Hi all. I just dropped GS off at archery and headed straight for the market. Thought I would have a leisurely breakfast and wait for Sue. Besides, I needed to get a good park..... Lol.
Will let you all in on the doings later.

I'm wondering why I don't get anything prior to Herceptin. Just a saline flush. I bought the Emla cream and it worked a treat. The yucky nurse wasn't on and I had a really lovely one this time. She told me of course the cream works, it's a local anaesthetic. The yucky nurse told me it worked on some and not on others - nothing like being positive or sensative to my feelings and encouraging me to use it. My onc appointment was over one and a half hours late. I had my sweet MIL with me - an 80 year old thing, but I was a captive audience and she chewed my ear off with nearly every story being rehashed that I'd heard before, but she doesn't get out much and she was lovely to come with me so I didn't mind. I was worried that the cream effects would have worn off as it was over 2 hours after applying it that they stuck me. I felt it a little bit but nothing more than a bit pressure with a tiny sting in it's tail. Easy Peasy.
Beautiful day over here today. A high of about 20 I think but the nights are darn chilly, down to 6 or 7! (I know Trish, nothing compared to Canberra's cold, but it is cold for here).
Enjoy SA girls! yes please a pic is in order.

If I get too tired towards the end of radio I will utilise everyone who has offered to help. Don't want to wear them out though.
I just bought a kindle to use on the bus. It has 3G but our service is so bad out here it isn't connecting to the shop. I will have to do it when I am in town.
Kate - so glad you found a dress. That is a huge thing to have sorted. It is nice to have something a little different from the norm, I am sure she will look beautiful.
Chrissy and Sue - I hope you are having a terrific time.
Would love to catch up with everyone after radio. Jenn and I will finish at much the same time.
Hugs to all. Kylie xx

I finish rads on Monday 6th of August. I'm having 28 days but they close the machine one Friday a month for maintenance so where I should have finished on the previous Wednesday it is extended. And the machine is closed on Friday the 3rd of August so I will have all my treatments except 1 done on the Thursday and then have a 3 day break before the last one which seems a bit stupid...
If Kylie is in the Southern Highlands maybe it would be just as easy to meet there somewhere? I actually like the drive to the Southern Highlands better than the drive to Woollongong :-)
Hubby has bought a recumbant bike and a treadmill this week and they are both being picked up today. He wanted the bike and I wanted the treadmill. I used to have one and it was great and then it broke and we never replaced it. I am desperate to build up some stamina, exercise my lungs and lose some weight so hubby has been trying to get one at auction for me. Really looking forward to it!
Hope the Adelaide meet is going off well!!!! Just waiting for my wig lady.

I'd love to meet up though I'm very anxious in groups. Anywhere around those areas mentioned is fine, I drive through the Gong regularly though I try not to drive in the city area.
It would be so strange to all meet up. I'd love to share stories. One Xmas I sat opposite a woman I didn't know at a function and she was wearing a BCNA survivors pin. The survivors pin has bling on it, unlike the plain supporters pin. I wasn't sure what to say, so I told her I had meant to buy one the same and she looked a bit shocked that I knew what it meant. Then when I said I'm a survivor too, she was so thrilled to meet me and share stories. It was like a big release for her to not feel alone and know someone else had been through the experience. I now have the pin and wear it when I remember in case I should meet up with others.

Hi Girls, Chissy and Sue, i do hope you are having a terrific time and enjoying your day together. must be so exciting.
I have this Peculiar sore part in my chest, feels like something there and i cough alot and it hurts, have had it for weeks, it is right in the the middle between my boobs, like the centre of breastbone. more uncomfortable than anything. Can the rads do that as well. i have not spoken to Doc about it, i may have to see him if it does not go. i have been trying to push it aside and think maybe it is the rads that did it or another se from tamoxifen, has anybody had this, there was no recurance in previous breast, still waiting for the results for the other, so i dont think i have l mets anywhere, just a pain really.. Gee b4 i got the BC i was jumping around like a 25 year old, chasing sheep and now i am like an eighty year old. well feels like it, sore this. aching something else, when does it end?

Sorry Midnight I cant help with that as I didnt have rads but I sure hope it stops hurting and that you get a decent run of health soon.
Kylie, you can download from amazon onto your laptop or pc and then it may or may not transfer the books to your kindle. If it doesnt then once you are in reception range they will just copy over to your kindle so you dont have to bother wasting time in finding and buying the books online when your on the bus. Pretty sure im right in sayign that.

Hi girls just posted a quick pic of Sue and I taken this morning on my iphone. I promise I'll get a better one tomorrow when I will get Sue's DH behind the shutter.....lol.
Love n hugs all. Chrissy0 -
Chrissy - picture?? where???
Midnight, yest rads can certainly cause problems with chest pain. I still have troubles five years out -sorry. One problem is called Costochondritis, or, inflammation of the meat between the ribs or there is radiation pleuritis, pericarditis, or pleuropericarditis.
I have developed a severe case of adhesive adhesions in the radiated area and oh it is painful. This is a disease that just keeps on giving. The docs are often reluctant to admit these things happen. Remember to ask your doc about and be firm.
Had better get dinner as friends are coming over to help us eat left overs from last night and to watch the rugby. We are playing Ireland.

I chose a new wig. Here's a link to the photos. I used to have this same style before I grew my hair long a few years ago!

Hi Midnight. I was advised prior to commencing my radiation, that a rare occurence can be cracks in the ribs because they can become weakened from the radiation and so maybe with a cough or heavy lifting it might have exaserbated it. I'd definitely bring it up with your Dr on your next visit. Unfortunately if it is a cracked rib I don't think there is anything much that can be done for them. My hubby broke 8 ribs in a motor bike accident and they just left them to mend on their own with his arm in a sling (he broke his wrist too).

Ladies, I have been here all along. Just keeping a low profile for a bit.
Going to the gym shortly for the first time in about 6 weeks.
I am following you all and share the frustrations of those of you who are having issues with treatment.
I will see my onc tomorrow. He doesn't rush 'old' patients through appointments as some of you have experienced. He books his appointments 30 minutes apart. Last time I saw him, in January, he spent at least 10 minutes chatting with me about travel.
I look forward to seeing him as he always greets me with a smile and joke. He feels and looks like a father figure, though he is only about 12 years older than me lol.0 -
Thanks for the update Racy, good luck with the gym and the onc.

Well I did it. Radiation was fine, fairly non-eventful, one down, 24 to go. I felt like there should be some flashing lights or coloured lasers to make it seem like something was happening.
The bus is great, only three of us on it, (2 breast, 1 prostate) so we weren't at the radio. clinic for long. It was a five hour turnaround from home and back.
Welcome back Racy, Kylie x
