Oh dear that is a place i would love to be in but scared of leaving all my month allowance lol How nice, that reminds me of my sisters house, lol wish i could go and get my hands on her yarns lol My sister collect the most beautiful wool and yarns. Strangely, NONE of my 4 grandsons ever wore booties....or bibs!!! Blew me away to see them being fed without bibs. Do y'all remember that permanent orange line we couldn't get out on the neckline of sleepers and T's?? Now adays I guess the laundry soap is better...stronger???? No one seems to use bibs.

Enerva what size needle are you using? I am of course assuming that you are using 4 ply wool as 8 ply would be a lot bulkier.

Barbe, none of my grandsons ever wore them either! My kids tended to kick off the booties, so I lost quite a few that way.

Chrissy i use size 4.00 or 3.5 depending on the yarn I can send you a link to a video from youtube i watch that was very easy to follow.

I used bibs and I know my DD used them for our DGD. I have a supply here in case pasta sauce is going to be a problem. Even DGD doesn't want to mess up her clothing, a girl 3 1/2.
Years ago I bottle fed my first two, twins, and boy did formula stain clothing. With third and fourth I nursed and voila no more stains!

Chrissy i sent you a few, once you do one or two different styles you will be able to take notes or write down which basic style you find easier then use the base and add you own accents lol Let me know if you need me to guide you, i find this videos have given me the basics then i go out of control lol ha ha ha i am exited that you will start to make baby things now. lol

My DD used bibs on her children and still will if they need to keep clothes clean.
Will post picture is dgd in her hat which has arrived. Not sure how to do it on my phone.

My four grandsons are all under four...but I still can't see them using a bib at 4......

I tried two of the images yesterday. The first I used muslin as the base fabric, the embroidery is sheer in places so I decided to use turquoise satin and it turned out mush better. I am using more of the teal color in the water. Using heavy stabilizer in two layers and it looks so much better.

I just love that hat. If you're carrying the yarn it would be nice and thick also. I love knitting patterns because they go fast. I just want to do another row to see how that changes it.

Nothing new here, still working on the throw although it's almost big enough to cover me.......lol.......it's long enough but needs to be a little wider.......so far 120 hexagons made.........I would like about the same amount again to make it more of a blanket than a throw but we'll just see if I get sick of it before then.......lol.

Meece, I was thinking stabilizer as I was reading your post. Glad to see you're using it, but if you need two layers, something is wrong. Are the layers swallowing the threads? Will it be too thick to sew up? Is the stabilizer an iron on or are you able to cut it away from the sides of the block? Can't wait to see the end result. LOVE the teal idea!

Alyson, the hat and your granddaughter are just adorable! Wish I had been able to achieve your knitting skill level. Oh, well, I'm enjoying being back into my sewing. I think my first stocking will be finished in about a week. I'm babysitting a bit and we're leaving town for a few days next week so that will slow me down.

I just used the two layers since the pattern maker suggested 2-3 layers. Each 4 x 4 square has between 11,000 to 21,000 stitches. I use basting spray to adhere the stabilizer to the backing. It's tear away so it will be removed before the squares are pieced.When I get a chance I will post the two squares I have completed. I am just practicing to see which colors I like. I have a multicolored metallic that I am substituting for one of the blues. It give a slight irridescent look to the water.

I hope you are using an embroidery needle in the machine. It has a larger eye so the thread doesn't fray as easily as it is pulled out. Also be care of spray on's as they can gum up your machines. (Sorry, I used to sell machines and sadly saw what can happen to them.)

I'm using it so lightly that I just holds it long enough to keep it together for the first stitching which is a square around the block. Yep, embroidery needle in place.
Spray ons are aerosol temporary basting spray. They wash out of the fabric if you wash the item. I will take a look at the machine frequently to make sure nothing is building up.
