Stitching the pieces together

In your pocket Ginger.
I know how to put pockets in bras. I've done that in my current swimsuits and several bras. It's finding something that doesn't bare too much of the starving skeleton look on the mx side. I saw a Kwik Sew pattern for an ice skating dress. I might be able to modify that. I have a fairly modest one-piece suit with a skirt. I love how it looks, but it takes about 36 hrs to dry.

Thank you Smaarty and Gingerbrew! She's feeling a little down today, so I hope the apron cheers her up. We've all been snow bound here and the 3 boys at home all day for 3 days has been a little much.

Yorkie, Love that apron! I'm waiting for my dd to tell me which of the aprons I sent her to dry out that she wants me to make for her. Hope it cheered your daughter up. Jan

Wren, I used to make my own swimmers so there is no reason you can't make a swim top. Your fabric store should have the right material and there are patterns available both for the tops and the soft bra.
Good luck!

Back from DR. I have L1 fracture. Treatment is to wear a hyperextension brace for three months. I was hoping for some glue and a quick fix. My husband pointed out that there is something that can be done and the Dr wrote on the order that the prognosis is good and told me the pain will lessen as it heals. Thanks for being pocket pals today.
Love you all Ginger

Ginger, hoping you feel better soon!
Jan, thank you! She did love the apron. She cheers up pretty easily, so everything is good!
Next project is 8 Christmas stockings.

Yorkiemom, LOVE the apron, but could you make the pocket a little bigger? I love the pockets that go all the way across as they hold so much.
Ginger, that IS good news!! I don't have a fracture to heal. I have bone growth impinging on the nerves exiting the spine. It has finally settled down and I'm attempting going back to work after 2 1/2 years off. It's been tough, but the Fentanyl patches for a couple of months broke the pain cycle and allowed me to heal some. I should be okay until they start to grow over another area. I asked for radiation to stop the growth but the orthopedic surgeon said they don't do it for my situation. I told him I'd be a guinea pig.....
So, try to keep the pain level down as much as possible, even if you feel stoned all day. Your body can't heal while is all tensed up in pain. You won't get addicted to the pain meds as they will make you nauseous when you don't have enough pain to validate them. I weaned myself off the Fentanyl patches myself!! Blew my docs away, but it was too much when there were extra narcotics in my system - dizzy, diarrhea, upset stomach and all that, so no fun to continue! I slept a LOT and knew I was helping my body to heal. You can do this.
Wren a tankini is great because you can wear it as high or low as you want/need based on the "bra" strap. You can adjust them to fit you higher. I just cut out the shelf bra and wear them "empty" and they sit high enough up my chest, but your situation is different. They'd be the most adjustable option.

Thanks Barbe! Maybe my next one. I would have to undo all the stitching and that would be very difficult. For some reasons the patterns I got for my 2 DDs had small pockets. The upper edge of the pocket is the same color as the overall apron (on one side) so it is a little bigger than it appears in the picture.

Yorkie, I do NOW see the deeper pocket. Makes much more sense and I see the embroidered name!! Amazing what one notices when one really pays attention, eh? LOL I guess the pockets are built cigarette pack sized...... My daughter's name is Kim, too!! Kimberly NOT Kimberley (which is male). How about you?
0 -
Yes, her name is Kimberly, but she's always gone by Kim. It's hard to see details in pictures. She's not a smoker, but I'm sure various items will land in the pocket. Not hard with 3 little boys running around! I really wish I'd put a contrasting color, but same pattern, on the upper pocket. Live and learn!

You sure were a busy girl! They are just so darn cute! I have seen the cocoon patterns but they are not use here in Australia........it's a pity as the babe looks gorgeous in them. The little hats are great! I should actually do some and donate them to the new natal unit at our large women's hospital.........mmmmm........now you have me thinking and that's not always a good thing.......lol.

lol I actually did the same lol I have donate to a few ladies and made them very happy.
I love the Quilt with the Owls , how great, I not longer have a sewing machine, ;( i must confessed one day i was so upset about what bc have done to me and i started placing everything away i donated all my sewing materials , fabrics and machine and all i gave away, all my tools i am left with only a few things now, I just feel so empty and i wanted to get rid of everything , including my apt , yes i am planing on selling it and moving to a small apt just with a small rent. I now see life very different. I always worked so hard to buy things and was always so into eating healthy exercising and taking care of others, working long hours and never really looking at life itself. Now i am terrify i waited all those years, I now want to start fresh and just have a few things and save money to travel and enjoy life, really take a moment to enjoy what ever is out there. So i do regret in a way that now i have no many things, but at the same time i just want to have nothing , lol do that makes any sence? maybe not.
Anyway i am glad to share the few things i do and i am loving all your work too.

I did a similar thing with my sewing machine, I had one of those you beaut do everything embroidery ones that I had saved for many years to buy but I found I could not do sewing or any other thing for so long that I sold it. You know how life goes.......once it gone you want it back? Yup, a few months after getting rid of my machine I wanted to sew........long story short, I have a sewing machine now but it's just a sewing machine not an embroidery machine.
I find that I am doing way more knitting and crochet as it is more manageable. I haven't done any quilting for ages but the mood will take me again I'm sure........my stash is still intact so it's all there just waiting for me.
Meece did the quilt with the little owls for one of her grandchildren and yes it is just so darling! She is so clever and imaginative with her children's quilts.
There are some very talented ladies who inhabit this thread and it's so nice to look at their work and drool.....lol.

Enerva you are a master crafter! Thank you for showing us your work and baking too!
I still have my machines and tools and fabric. I keep hoping I will be back to it soon. Your crochet is so portable and compact it will surely fit in the new apartment.
I understand your shock and reaction to what BC did to you. We expect a lot of the things that happen to us during this time but there is an entire boatload we don't. My hair became straight, now it is about 50% thinned out due to Tamoxofen. I have lost a couple teeth, my skin is dry and wrinkly on my arms and hands, my face has just collapsed I look a minimum ten or fifteen years older than I did. My mind is finally getting straightened out, sort of. A dear friend plays words with friends with me to help me. It is just hard to adjust, I am not a fan of A New Normal. It is different for sure but not normal. I love being here at BCO because there is such great support and comradery. I offer what I can, but know I receive more in return.
Chrissy I understand about the do everything sewing machine. I look back and I think my favorite machine was a Viking 500. I gave her to my DD and she is too busy to sew. DD has a full time job, a part time job and an incidental job at two colleges. I have loved each of my machines for different reasons but reliability had been a constant. I have gone to some of the embroidery classes and have found I am not really a fan of set up the embroidery and leave it. I really like sewing much more. My happiest time was as a costumer. I loved being in the action and helping create/ build the show. It was fun to me.

Enerva, beautiful crochet pieces and gorgeous, yummy looking cake! I do like the portability of crochet and knitting, but right now sewing is my thing. Just starting on my first of 8 Christmas stocking. Coordinating fabrics to go with interests/hobbies.
