    18 months ago when I made four bridesmaid dresses I burned all the patterns and extra fabric in celebration of their completion.  I didn't want to see red fabric for a long time afterward.

    Meece, you're a girl after my own heart.  I still think of throwing a (very pretty) dress away after a particularly bad date, knowing I would never be happy wearing it again. I would never get past the bad memories. Still cracks me up to think about doing this.

    I agree Meece. I now know that I'm not making any more for anybody, including the 2 GD that will be next.

    I felt the same way after making gore-tex jackets for the whole family. They were the kind for hiking with cargo handwarmer pockets and lots of places to stash things. Not difficult, but very tedious by the 3rd one.

    In this vein but.....   I remember a date, when I was 17,  who was so disagreeable to servers and cab drivers that when we got back to my house I suggested we play chess. I beat him badly.......triumph for the masses! I never saw him again. 

    I got Kerri Mecka's new book yesterday. It has lots of good instructions for making floral trims. I think I may be making some to add to my DGD dresses. The book includes a punch out heavy page of "Whimsy Sticks" to use when wrapping the ribbons and such. I bought the plastic ones some time ago and can see these sticks could hold up if you are careful.  

    I have a "do not leave this door open or unlocked at any time" "this means you" sign on my sewing room door.Sadly, no one thinks it means them! Problem is cat gets in if the door is unlocked, we have lever handles and cat is a master at opening them. Cat then hides and gets stuck in the room. He is 17 and it is scary of we can't find him.

    Ginger, that IS very scary when a cat disappears as we found one of ours dead on an old quit in a closet!!!! Quite a shock, she must have died during the night but I hadn't noticed her all day and was too afraid to go looking without my DH home. So I waited and he found her. I did look at her..... but strangely earlier in the day I SWEAR that I saw her walk through the room, to this day I wonder if it was her ghost saying good-bye...

    got my bra done, it's fits but I don't like it. Haven't wore one for a year. Took 3 try's. Got to throw it in the washer and see if that helps. Any new projects out there ladies?

    Smaarty why don't you like the bra?  It looks fine!

    Nothing new on the horizon here, still working on the snowflake rug.......took a bit of a break while I was organizing my knee op which happens at the end of the month.  I will have weeks to get stuck in while I'm healing.....lol.

    Quilt all done, knitting finished now just have to get it into the bag and off I go on Sunday.  Will try to post some quilt pictures later.

    Hi, popping in. I was posting with another member. I thought sharing the below information may be helpful to you Winking.

    The link www.needymeds.org is to a web site started by a Social Worker and a doc. It is a tricky site to use. The first page leads to a several hundred resource pages. But I think this first page, does not project the wealth that lies beneath. Be patient when following the links within the site. There are sections that are disease and drug specific. The specific page then links to lists of organizations that provide monetary or other types of assistance.

    Register first and do the request for assistances form. Reason: the request for assistance form is filed. If you apply to 1 or 20 organizations/companies, the forms don't need to be repeatedly filled out.  The system is designed to pull information from the original form. There may be a few particulars that need to be added to a companies/organizations form.

    All the pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs. All the drug manufactures are listed there

    The other way to reach drug manufactures is 1. call the manufactuer patient assistance number(goolge keywords: drug name and manufacturer, then to webpage>>>patient assistance. Very time consuming.

    There is so much more on www.needymeds.org. It took a bit of time to wander through the whole site. I've shared a telephone walk through with many friends and relatives. I even called healthcare facilities to tell them about this link.

    For completeness, there are many ways to get financial assistance for whatever you need. There are organizations that will do things for you i.e volunteers that buy groceries, drive, install handrails, build wheelchair ramps.

    How to find the info besides from the link above?  FIND the SOCIAL WORKER(SW).  It's there job to know these things :)  Talk to all of the following 1. cancer center SW,  2.hospital SW, 3. Insurance companies SW, 4. County SW. 5. church outreach leader.

    I requested from my insurance carrier, a consult with a SW. That one appointment with the insurance carrier Social Worker, led to grants totaling $10,550. The meeting with the cancer centers SW, led to coverage of neulasta  for $4000.00.

    Hey, hey! I went up the stairs today to my seeing room, wahoo!  It has been well over a year, but it was a first step. DD had been piecing up there and now needs to bin up a  mountain of beautiful fabric. I look forward to having some order in there so I can "see" if you understand what I mean. I am happy just to begin thinking about it once again. :)

    Ginger, I am SO happy for you!!!!!!!!! I haven't been in my sewing room for sewing in almost a year, too, but that's just laziness on my part - and inspiration. I swing back and forth between different hobbies, but "get" how important it is to even get up the stairs for you!!! Congratulations, sweetie!!! One step at a time....

    Thanks Bar be. I look so forward to getting my. Things organized so I know where to go for my tools .   If I still cannot find g my many pairs of Ghimgers left handed shears, pinkers, and every other sort I am going to buy them and try to let go of how pe'oed I am that some one took them. iI hope no one stole them!

    I have bought a number of sewing books this past year. A few with 18" doll patterns and more with children's patters. Also one by Kerri Mecca on trims, she is a regular on the Martha Pullen TV shows.

    I know I will need a wheel chair when we go to our family vacation, better than staying behind. I can still only go4 minutes on the treadmill:-) I sure hope my back actually heals. Dr said it will be slow.     Love you all Ginger

    Ginger, you should buy all new scissors anyway just because!!! Also, you do know you will find them all once you replace them, right? hehehehhehee

    I've used a wheelchair so many times over the years that my kids are used to it and not shocked. My family has only seen the cane. One of my grandsons (1 1/2 at the time) took my cane in a hotel waiting area and walked away from me pounding it down like he was leading a parade!! It was too funny! I'm happy to see that they can accept it all so easily. Sometimes I'm okay and sometimes not. I even have a walker I kept in the trunk of my car but only my DD saw me use it. I said it was because I wanted the seat with me as we were shopping....Winking I have an electric scooter I haven't used for years as it is restrictive in it's battery usage (not a huge one) but they've seen me in that, too. So enjoy your family time doing what is best for YOU and not the image you want them to think of you as. Nap when you need to and stop when you need to. With my back I have to lie flat to ease pain so a wheelchair isn't even good enough. I don't apologize either - it's just "I gotta lie down" and they get it.

    I've got 8 stockings completed (going to go back and revise 2 to make their cuffs bigger), with 3 to go. Now working on skirts for DD and me.

    Barbe, I'm going to finish them after the skirts and after we get back from Istanbul. Finally got my step-grandaughters' stocking material. One of the stockings will be for our new doggie, which we will start looking for in August. :-)

    Yorkiemom what sort of little doggie are you going to get or is that a silly question considering you avatar name......lol.  Like Barbe, I can't wait to see all the stockings completed as well as your skirts.

    I have finally gotten the insert for my Horn sewing cabinet to make it truly flat bed for quilts.  Although quilting will have to wait just a little longer as I still have to make my tops and of course get back on my feet properly with the new knee.

    Chrissy, not sure what breed, or mixture thereof, we'll get. We would love another yorkie, but not limiting ourselves to that breed. It will be a rescue. Don't know what I'll do about my username or avatar if it's not a yorkie!

    I loved Chloe so much, I really don't want to take her picture down or dishonor her memory by changing my name. OTOH, I will also love my new doggie. Fortunately, s/he will know nothing about BCO and my dilemma here, lol!
