Nope, but Land's End has always had good ones on line and you can return easily. I liked that because I didn't have to suffer going into a store to find a swimsuit. Nowadays I cannot even imagine it!  Good luck I am sure you are much less lumpy and floppy than me. :)

Blessings - your quilt is beautiful. You did a great job with your use of the different color values.  Makes a striking display for the heart pattern.  Great job.

Melissa - you are on your way!  You are now hooked on fabric like the rest of us.  I know you will learn a lot at your quilting class and the materials you have selected will make wonderful quilts.

For the tags in clothing questions - there is an embroidery topper that is used to put on the back of embroidery work so that it will not scratch babies and you will see it on the back of professional embroidery work called Soft Stitch a Fusible Embroidery Stitch Cover.  I use it and it works great for those last little scratchy pieces of tags that defy removal.

    Happy sewing/quilting/crafting everyone.  AJ

I wonder if the mfgs are bonding the tags and using some sort of fusible thread for that application. Maybe we need to complain at the industry level?  Like I would know how! Ha!

I am happy. I bought DGD a CASIGE sewing machine on Ebay.   It is red and cute and from the late 1940's German made in the British zone. It is the sort you turn the handwheel to stitch.  It even has it's instructions but only one page is in English, the rest in German. I won't give it to her until I finsih figuring it out. I do not see any bobbin are so I think I will have to make it do a chain stitch.     Last week DGD 2 years and 5 months old said "I want to learn to sew."  Then at preschool she asked for a lesson on the "sewing a button on work." I think she is ready for age and skill level instruction. My Grandma must be singing up in heaven over this.   I'll put a photo up soon.

    Hugs

Meece, if they are machine embroidered, you may need a stronger stabilizer...

They are, and they have yet to be pressed.   I will try a heavier stabilizer though.  I am not happy with the pulls on them, but I am having fun learning how to embroider and applique.

Ginger, that machine sounds just perfect for her.....good find! You might try her on some plastic canvas and plastic needle with yarn to "make" a few things.

Yay! I have conquered the evil sewing machine! I have no idea why I couldn't get it up & running despite trying for hours before. I sat down, wound a bobbin and got it threaded & sewing in less than ten minutes. Off to Joann's for a 1/4 foot & quilting thread...

Worked on a project that I had the supplies for.  It was the window treatment for my sewing room.  I need to install the rod tomorrow, but I made good use of all of the fabric I had purchased for the project.

Yes mostly sew, I too think it will be a good machine for her. A toy that is sound and has a reliable mechanism. It will make a nice display peice when she is done with it too.  I don't like it when anyone tries to learn to sew on poor equipment. For teens I always advise an older European made machine, they run so well and are sound.

I have some stitching cards for DGD but I think some plastic canvas to make some things with will be a good start!

I look forward to doing these projects along side of her, she is 2 yrs and 5 months. My other DGD lives 1000 miles away and would also like to learn to sew. Maybe I will get her here in the summer. She is 9 years old.

    Hugs all

Congratulations, MelissaDallas! You tell that machine who's boss!!! Wink

Meece - Pics! We want pics!!! My sewing room has had nekkid windows since we moved in. Oh, I have those wide wooden blinds that look like shutters in there, but I want toppers...and one window has an arch.

I got this fabric for that purpose. Have I even started? Nooo!!!

So I am VERY eager to see your window treatments!!!!

I will take pics as soon as I install the rod holders.  I have two windows side by side and both are topped with arch windows.

Ooooh, Meece - how purdy!!!! Those look really professional!

My north window has the arch - just a bit wider than yours, and the east window is plain. I think I have those same blinds.

I love the look of the scalloped tops.

    Thank you!

I used a Simplicity pattern for "drawstring valance".  I chose it because I could uses the fabric I already had, and I also had all of the other things I needed for them.  They were supposed to be a bit longer but I adjusted it for the amount of fabric I had.

I've been laughing at myself. I've finally started sewing a little now that I have my machine working but every time I go to raise the foot up & down I reach or the wrong place. I haven't used my Mom's machine in 30 years but my hand is reaching for the lever on hers. Muscle memory is real!

It doesn't take much to change that either.  I spent hours on my machine making all those dresses for the wedding, but I have been spending time on my mom's embroidery machine, so when I got to my machine last week, I was reaching for the foot lever in the wrong place.

I still lay claim to chemo brain.  My brain never came back as sharp after I finished chemo, and that's no joke.

Maybe that is my problem. I have been doing a lot of sewing using 3 different sewing machines and a serger. No wonder I am confused most of the time as to what button does what!  I will be glad when my big machine is back from its yearly cleaning so I can just be using the one machine again.

Hope everyone is haveing a great week.  DH took me to dinner tonight for our 32nd wedding anniversary.  Now I think I will go jump his bones.Embarassed (Did I really just say that?!?!?!)

Mecee - We did have a very nice anniversary.  Today I had my monthly Aredia treatment, so I have been taking it easy most of the day. Hopefully tomorrow I will get back to my quilts.

    Glad it was nice, Elisimo.

I have been suffering from crud for 10 days now.  It has really zapped my strength and I don't even feel like going in and sewing...and I have the time!  I have been without a voice at all for 4 days.  I don't try it out all day long, although I did have to answer the phone twice yesterday, so it is getting rested.  The Dr. says it is laryngeal spasms caused by the heavy coughing.  What's scary is that it can constrict so I can't breathe in or out for a short time.  I am ready for this to be over with.

Meece I am sorry you have this crud too!  I am into week three of cough and week one of sore throat. I managed to beat it last year but this year with DGD in preschool was too much to expect.

DD has inflamed lining around lungs. I forget the name.

I want to go sew but sewing room seems too far away.  ugggghhhhh

OKAY!!! What is with words we type getting hyper links?  I noticed on my previous post the word PHONE was hyperlinked and on Ginger's SORE THROAT is.  I have noticed this on other threads as well.  Anyone know what is going on.  I am afraid that this could get us into a sticky mess if something bad is linked to it.  I hit the link to see what Ginger knew about the throat part of the crud!

My throat is not sore, well the muscles are from coughing, but it isn't scratchy or sore.  Hmmmm
