linda, I'll be right over. Love cocoa and cinnamon-raisin toast! Actually there isn't much I don't like, which is why I've gained 15 pounds!

Ducky, my goodness, your grandson can pack away the food!! Homemade chicken soup and tuna sandwiches brings back a lot of fond childhood memories for me. I bet you have some great stories to tell them. My dad used to tell the best stories about growing up in PA and plowing the fields with his grandfather. He'd talk about how he didn't have too many toys, so they would make things out of household items. I wish I had recorded some of those stories. As I get older, I forget many of the details. You look at kids today and they have their faces buried in their tablets - hardly interacting with each other. How in the world are they going to have stories to tell to their kids and grandchildren? It's sad!

Slow.....this is a great story.......I was a big Tom Jones fan....had all his albums, and even saw him in person.........

Well of course it caught on with my older kids who at that time were 14, 13, 12.....then there was 3 younger 8, 6, 3.......we would bowl on Friday nights, so the 14 year old was in charge.........the 3 year old was always in bed asleep before we left.........

I had a gorgeous "stereo system" the wood one, not the boom box type.........well my 14 year old, would put on the Tom Jones records......(It's Not Unusual), grab a hair brush, and pretend he was Tom Jones while looking in the wall to wall mirror that I had behind the sofa (it was an Italian thing lol)...........the 13, and 12 year old girls (sisters) would be his back up singers..........

Now this is the funny part........you have to hear the now 50, and 48 year old who then were 8 and 6 tell how they would have to sit on the sofa, and clap and cheer, cause they were the audience., and if they didn't my 14 year old would "pop" them with the brush, and tell them to "clap".........which of course they did.........

When my oldest son (the 14 year old back then), daughter got married, she had the DJ.as a surprise to her father (the back then 14 year old)  play Tom Jones.....It's Not Unusual........ and made her father get  up in front of all the wedding guests, with his sisters, and his 2 brothers, and do their Tom Jones Act................of course the youngest was old enough now, so she was allowed to be a back-up singer.....lol

Everyone loved it, especially after my grandaughter told them, how the Tom Jones Act came about many years before...........

When my kids get together it is always a hysterical gathering.....do they argue, get pissed at each other, bitch to me about what they do and don't do..........of course they do........but will always be there for each other, no matter what............just one of my many stories......... LOL

That's a great story! What a wonderful surprise for their father. Tom Jones - my sister loved him back in the day. There is nothing like a family gathering. Ours are pretty crazy too, although not the same without my parents. My mother really was the life of the party. She was such a character - typical Italian mother. When we lived in Rockaway, she worked on the next street over. There was a big empty lot right across from our house. We had a terrace on our second floor, so I could always see her walking through the lot on her way home, so I had a good 7 minutes to get out of trouble before she came home. One winter she was crossing the lot and it was icy - she was carrying a pizza. Down she went - really hard. All of a sudden I could hear her laughing hysterically and there she was flat on the ground with her arm extended - the pizza above her head. Typical Italian - saved the food! haha. I will never get that picture out of my head. When I hear about your crazy stories, they remind me so much of her. I hope you got that Tom Jones act on video!!!

    Slow.....yes we did.....

I have a home down the shore....one Saturday we decided to go over to Wildwood's Water Park....it was 2 daughters, their husbands, their kids, and another son's kids who we took to the shore that weekend.......and myself........I was 63 at the time............we had a ball.......

I was not a very good swimmer..........one of the slides, you go down on your back, hands behind your head....I had on a 2 piece bathngs suit (easier to pee if you had to) with a tank type top.....well.........I came a hellin down that slide, hit the water, my bathing suit top went up to my neck, almost over my head.......forget the cups inside.....they went up too.........here I was in 8 ft. of water, trying to pull my bathing suit top down, while also trying to keep from drownding.......cause remember I could not swim......I was thrashing around with one hand pulling the top down, and the other trying to stay above water........a lifeguard came toward me, and I said "HELL NO, I  CAN'T GO ABOVE WATER"......KIDS WERE HYSTERICAL...............ACTING LIKE THEY DID NOT KNOW WHO I WAS...............plus me laughing so hard I kept swallowing the water............

Y'all are making me LOL....hysterical.  If you wrote for Jay Leno, he'd still have a job.
Slow, good one - duckies should swim...

So, hi to another Long Islander - I spent some days at Rockaway beach with my cool Queens friends...I grew up in West Hempstead then moved out east in 1970.  It's home now...and about 20 minutes from Patchogue.
So, that cute girl in my avatar?  The big cute girl is "me" and the little cute girl is my grandaughter (3).  We were on the train going to the Thanksgiving Day parade in NY.  Thanks for asking :-D

So nice that you are in SoCal now.  My DS is in SanFrancisco and we visit him every year.  I love it out there and am glad the earthquakes have been very quiet...although that means a bigger one eventually.

Linda, I can smell the raisin toast...my favorite.  I hope you are doing well this week.

Well, Olympics are over for the night, and I am done....

    Good Morning Goddesses,

OMG ducky, that picture is too funny!!

badger, you always have the best drinks by the fire.

Joan, the worst part of getting used to California for me was the earthquakes.

Ducky, how is FK? Should we be worried about her??

Hope you are all having a great, toasty morning :)

    Wish I could answer the Olympic ?, but I haven't a clue.

Ducky, regarding the US figure skaters, they are both there. They have added events this year like they have in gymnastics - a team event where each different discipline performs.  So only one person performs on the team event but the individual figure skaters are yet to compete.  I think that's it....but if I'm wrong, just twirl on on your fancy skates.

I think the trip is all set....and will probably take off like a thief in the night....so hang on...

Guess what.  OK I'll tell you.   It's snowing.  Shocked

Chabba.......yes very pretty......such a sweet face, and she is so nice along with it.........would love to see her win something, but looks like Russia is killing us in the skating.....however she did fabulous...actually think she got cheated, but won't say that again.......lol

Everyone have a great day.....we got snow again last night, ......all my kids finally have their electricity....the longest out was 1 son and he was out for 5 days........brutal, but thank heavens he has a built in generator in his home........(like the ones hospitals have).....so for him it was a minor inconvenience.........the other 5 kids were out, but not as long......

Good morning, Goddesses! I have had a wonderful weekend with an old friend and so am just catching up here. What a way to start Monday morning, LMAO, ROTF! Great stories, great pictures - loved the dog & duck!!! Cocoa and toast are history - such a warm way to share a morning with friends. She is from PA, and headed back into that winter weather - hoping things settled down, but I know as soon as the snow goes, we will be in for the spring stormy season, and am dreading that if this winter is any signs of things to come. But, then again, I am not going to waste time worrying about it now! I have things to do, places to go, people to see .... and that it is just TODAY! Hugs to all of you, have a good Monday.

Linda..........yes she is headed back into it..........they are saying snow Wednesday, not sure of the amount....depends on how  it develop's in the next couple days.......then possibly again next Sunday..............ENOUGH ALREADY......

To boot, my winshield wiper arm fell off, and I can't put it back on........snowed last night, so now what is left of the arm is buried under the snow......and I have an SUV, so the  windshield is high up, and I am "short", way down.........LOL.......live alone, so that does not help either.......Oh I hate this white shit...........

    Good Morning Goddesses,

linda, it's always so nice visiting with old friends. I had two of my high school friends come and visit me over the holidays, and it was great to see them.

ducky, glad to hear your kids have their electricity back again. I wish you would all get some relief from the snow and cold. Spring will be here before you know it. I remember those snow days when I was a kid. We didn't get too many in Rockaway, but when we did they sure were fun. When it would get icy, we would hold on to the back of the buses when they were going down the road. The crazy things we did as kids.

My DS started his first full-time job today. Boy they grow up quickly. Seems like he was just starting his first day of preschool not too long ago.

Hope you're all having a wonderful morning!!

Slow....good luck to your son and his "first day"......

Sunny, but cold.............just cleaned my car off........turned it on to defrost........just hope I remember to turn it off, not what I did last time......forgot and it ran for hours............

My SIL is stopping by after work to pick up my Aerobed, for my daughter............Stella is not cooperating through the night, and the sofa is getting old and stale, so she is going to use the Aerobed.....very comfortable, off the floor, and it has a headboard.......she can put it in the corner of her living room out of the way..........she doesn't use that room anyway........at least she will be able to spread out and not be crammed on the sofa......plus STella won't be able to see her......she is in the family room in the crate.........training a puppy is work.....would love one, but want it pre-trained........lol

Yesterday our dryer stopped working - it blew a fuse. It's a fairly new dryer. Luckily my husband is handy and he was able to get a fuse locally. We figured we would take the lid off the back of the dryer and clean the vents. OMG - it was disgusting. I can totally understand how a dryer can catch on fire. Please have your dryer's cleaned. They really are a fire hazard. I had no idea!!

Throwing progression into the fire! Meds quit working, now on to something completely new and different ... hey, I think there is a Monty Python saying in there somewhere .... geez, I miss that show! Maybe I can locate my collection and watch them - not sure what triggered that memory, maybe just the new and different thought .... I am rambling tonight, tired, exhausted, sad, disappointed, a little lost, but I know it is warm and safe here by this fire. Good night, Goddesses.

welcome bc101, one day at a time is good advice.  A friend of mine calls it 'tincture of time'.

((Linda)) sorry to hear the p word.  Hope that 'now for something completely different' also works.

Meanwhile, we will keep you company, safe and warm by the fire.
