Bonfire of the Goddesses

Thought I would give you an update on my appt. - Calling for prayers - Hoping this isn't going to be long and drawn out.
This is what happened on my first consult with PS:
Nurse
took me to the room and asked a few history questions. Went over what
the doctor would do.Doctor
came in and verified that we were talking about a breast reduction.
Had me explain what I was thinking and told me what he needed to do
to get an insurance acceptance. Explained insurance and how they
play games so they don't have to pay for it. But said, if you keep
trying, you might get them to budge. He asked me what size I wanted
to be. I told him: Small enough to lessen movement – B/C.
He measured my breasts and looked at my lumpectomy scars. Said my
breasts were good after radiation and should not have too much issue
with the scarring. He said that my expectations made me a good
candidate for the procedure because he could take what was necessary.
He thought it would be about 500-600 gms?. He also showed me how
small my breast could be and suggested that he could make
me a nipple on the right side. To think about it.He
asked me if I had any questions. He had answered everything I had on
my list. Told me it would take him about a week to put the
authorization for insurance together. Then the insurance would
probably take at least another week. He said don't be surprised if
they deny it. I had a 50/50 chance they would. If they did, he would
appeal with more info. He also said he would do a phone consult if I
had any questions. That way I wouldn't have to drive 3.5 hours for an
appt.Easy
as pie. Don't know why I was so stressed. PS was very nice - I don't know why I research these docs beforehand on the web. The only things that you see are the complaints - thing is, he wasn't anything like they described. He was very knowledgeable and honest about what was expected. He also said, "I would tell you if you were wasting our time. You have a valid complaint and I can fix this, its just getting insurance to agree with us."0 -
Praying all goes well for you Gma

All that sounds very promising GMA. I really hope this all works out for you!!
Keeping everything crossed and saying tons of prayers for you!!
Jo, my girl is loads of fun!! You would all love her.
I went for my diagnostic US yesterday and got turned away. I drove an hour each way and burned 1/4 tank of gas, only to be told they don't do diagnostic US's. They didn't know this before they booked the appointment? Or....they couldn't have figured that out before I left my house?? I got the call as I was entering the parking lot. My MO is on vacation and my BS was off. I didn't want to go to the stinkin' appointment to begin with, and it was all I could do to get out the door. Needless to say, I was irritated. An irritated me is NEVER a good thing.
Hope you're all having a better day than I had yesterday.
Love to all!!

I hate it when doctors don't listen to you. Except for my primary doc, my docs are great, probably because they are mostly females! I don't hate my primary doc, just his staff

GmaFoley,
I had a reduction/lift at the same time as my lumpectomy. My PS is very helpful, patient and understanding. He asked me what I wanted and told me what he could do to make that happen. He delivered what he promised as far as recovery time and scars. My breasts are still a bit larger than I would find ideal, but I have not lost sensation and they look fantastic. The recovery time was long... about 8-10 weeks. But I had a huge hematoma and lots of swelling. My insurance covered it. Usually insurance will cover it if 500ml of tissue is removed. I wish you the best in getting this surgery that can improve how you feel!
I have a great team of doctors, but in the past I have dealt with some jerks!
