Reminds me of a friend who lost her husband on 9/11 and although she subsequently died of a BC recurrence several years later... She really died of a broken heart. Left two young sons... I pray for them every.single.day. Throwing terrorists in the fire today because they are the only thing worse than breast cancer!

Okay I also like the idea of a memory fire --even if it was me that suggested it ----what if one day a week or one day a month, we have dedicated to a memory fire for those that have been lost-----memory of any nature. I think One day a week would be easier to remember. Trying to remember for a whole month would be for me impossible---I think many here would feel the same. I'm agreeable to the groups choice.

For anyone interested "OMG THEY FOUND A CURE FOR STUPID" MANY OF THE OLD CREW ARE COMING BACK . It parallels this site in many ways.

SAS... Since a memory fire is your idea... Why not start a new thread??? I think it is wonderful. We can all go there when we think of others who have passed!

Oh Sandee----so  sad for your friend Sam------To loose both parents in such a short time. AND to know that one died because of the loss of the other . I get it so well, My Greg died in Aug 2010. We were both going through cancer.--------odd. Very evil people(some calling themselves Christian) would say we had done something to cause it. I still can't much leave the house. We used to plan a dinner party for six or four either Saturday night or Sunday afternoon. Always went out to dinner Friday nights-----our reward for working all week.

I have still what I call slug days. No reason to get out of bed. Except my schatzi----a German wired haired pointer--------that wants to go out and come in---in and out-etc-----she's my exercise------God love her.

Please tell Sam that another person she doesn't know will keep her parents in her prayers.Let me see what I can write

A love , known to each other

bound for life, to no other

    Life given to our children

    Cherished for a lifetime

    Our lives ended

    but a short time apart

    but together We are

Agree with you all on the Memory Fire.  I would like to remember my best friend who died of ovarian cancer within 2 years of diagnosis, leaving a husband and 12-year old daughter 12 years ago.  I miss her terribly, and sometimes criticize myself because I knew she was tired and ill, but just had NO IDEA JUST HOW COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY EXHAUSED she felt then - I get it now and am sooo wishing I could have been even more help than I tried to be.  I am no longer mention my fatigue to anyone at work - get the response "yes, we all get tired about then" - but this kind of fatigue just isn't relieved by rest - I get now - I didn't really get it then.

Oh Granny... I was thinking of Canadian Olga last week as I crossed the border into Canada. Drove up there to visit family. I don't know what sparkled more... Her blue eyes or her smile?

I will say a special prayer for her husband and sons tonight and rest assure that her blessed memory will not be forgotten.

To All Of the Bonfires women---Consider this, that for those that we care for/ bless---------hold steady in our hearts, we have a sweet fire. A sweet fire, we all can remember of some nature, Whether it was in the home, the backyard, or campsite---------we loved it--------Easy enough , When needed we can call it a SWEET Fire-------------- SO, can we have a sweet fire and a hot fire?  May be way off base on the question, But, felt I have to ask?

So sorry for everyone's losses. Just seems so extreme.

I'll add some sage to the sweet fire to cleanse and dispell any negative energy from the hot fire.

    Nice idea!

Grannydukes, I love you. There are so many times when I am exhausted from trying to hold all semblances of an appearance of sanity for myself together and I log in here for support, and I so often wind up coming across something that you say that makes me laugh out loud.

grannydukes and geewhiz, I also really needed a laugh today and found it here!

Tossing in neuropathic pain.  ALND is a b**^&^%. *sigh*  Tired of taking pain pills that give me constipation and only partially relieve it. *sigh*  TIred of trying to work through either the pain or the haziness of pain pills. *sigh*  Tired of sighing.

On the other side of the fire I am contemplating how wonderful my DH has been, how wonderful my ditsy sister is (I have 3 sisters, only 1 gets classified as "ditsy" along with my mother), and how wonderful my other siblings are.  I am blessed with 11 nieces and nephews, and have enough cognitive power to remember all their names! I am blessed to have a mother who is an 18-year survivor and who encourages me or gives me "the Mom talk" when needed to move on.  I am blessed to have found a place to warm myself and make new friends.

Granny... I love the idea... But we need to have, in addition to big signs... We need separate trails leading down to the fires... Heaven forbid some one slip and mistakenly end up in the wrong fire!!!

Linda.... The fire is magical... And once it roars... Everyone feels better! So feel free to dump in ALL your pain!
