Thanks for the response KB and the happy dance Bren! I really appreciate it! I too am very sensitive to drugs. I have had the drippy nose since the get go. Mostly worried about the menopause-like SE's . I don't know if I could stand the heat intensifying! Sitting with an ice pack as I type! I thought it was bad the first time when my ovaries were removed in 2000, but these past few months have beat the first time hands down!0 -
Sec happy for you finishing. The hot flashes Aren't fun are they? But I got and occasionally still get a cold wave directly preceding them. Nothing warms me up. Hands head get cold I put on a hat and use blankets! Then after about a half to an hour of freezing I get a hot flash. Melt into a puddle. Anyone else get the cold waves?
Lago, thanks for that info. I feel better. LOL0 -
Moonflwr I used to get cold waves after my warm flashes when I was doing chemo and went into chemopause. I never had really hot sweaty flashes. All usually between 2-5am. I still get some now on ESD but mostly because I ate something with Jalapenos.0 -
Lago I'm glad you had warm flashes. Hot ones suck. My hair actually drips. It's so strange. LOL0 -
TwinMama- so glad to hear you're doing so well! I think most ps just fill the TEs enough to fill in the slack left in the skin after they stitch you up. Ditt what Lago said.
I had two freckles / moles removed last week. Figured as long as I was waiting for skin to heal and couldn't swim, might as well get them all done at once. Well, that and I've met my deductible for the year. Anything else you gals thinks should have done before Dec 31? ;oP0 -
OMG I'm trying to catch up==I read everything and remember a little.
Twin, I'm glad that is over for u, I hope u'r healing goes well.
Whomever is done with rads or chemo--That's great---I like that word done. LOL
And I think everyone pretty much agrees that have ourselves Deboobed is surprisingly painless. I know that's not med talk but it's me remember? And I do like to point that out every so often so someone who is having it done might have some relief.
I do know however that I did a follow up with a card even tho I was a constant 70 with my echos and he found something wrong I take meds for it, but I don't know what it is so I'm not concerned. But I see him every 6 months.. I;m just giving info for anyone my Onc wanted me to see a card cuz of the Herceptin just in case. I guess the "just in case" thing was good then.
I'm trying to keep up with everyone, but I'm behind a little I actually have a job from home on the computer which again if u know me, I can't type or spell and most of the time don't think straight so since I'm lazy on top of it I don't have to dress up for work. And now I can complain and say well I'm working now and just to tired, or I can't do that I'm working so it sure helps me. I'm on the phone too so I lost my voice one day, cu I'm not used to using my vocal cords so much and I decided I'm not thrilled with talking to people. Well u guys who use computers this would be a snap for u, but I had to learn a new thingy on it. The job was literally thrown at me so I figured I'd give it a try. My boos came over to show me the new program and he said I'll go slowly, I said u'd better please, well he's 28 and a computer whiz so his slowly was like he came in 2nd at the Nascar. I was writing things down, but that means chit after when no one is there, but somehow I muddled thru it so I'm on the computer a lot but I don't get as much playing time. My day starts around 8am and goes certainly not constant but til at least 6 or 7or til noon depending on the day. So I just wanted u to know cuz I'm seldom here---but I really never give any info just opinions.
OK ladies I read the post I just haven't been here. Have a good Sunday.0 -

Ladies: Does anyone have trouble wearing bras after rads. I know it's been over 2 years now, but I can't find a bra that doesn't hurt. No wires for me. My jog bra doesn't hurt but man do the regular bras do. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Arlene in the reconstruction forum there are a couple threads on bras. Maybe they talk about rads too. Good luck. I wish I could remember the name of the thread.0 -
Arlene since there is a thread a lot of women must have a problem, not me tho I can't wear even the pretend bras nothing feels right so wear none and I don't care any more. But I do wear turtlenecks and scarves, in the summer it more difficult, that why I like winter clothing, layer, layer, layer Infinity scarves are great and thro over scarves with a big pin in the right place holds it in place---and now that I'm working I wear my better flannels during the day, not my best tho---but I do have to turn down the sound on the TV when I answer the phones and then do my computer stuff---and Nicky don't be impressed that I'm working, I'm sure I'll be gone as soon as he figures out I'm not so good and I already need time off for Dr. stuff this week, cuz I need tests so........then again in 2 weeks for more Dr. sfuff and a week after that. LOL0 -
Arlene I have always hated bras and hate them even more since MX and rads. I recently tried the coobie bra and was surprised how comfortable it is.0 -
Although I'm long past my baby-making days, I find that some nursing bras are very comfortable, especially if you can find cotton ones without seams.0 -
Thanks ladies. Checking the link coobie bra link. Thanks dance.

Well Done Twinmamma Heather!!!!! I hope it's a seamless ride from here on:)0 -
Thanks ladies! Now I just have to wait on the pathology report, which, of course, has been my worry since May when this whole mess started. I really just hope and pray that there are NO surprises {unless they are good surprises}! I think that's one of the hardest parts about going the neoadjuvant route, it's really hard not knowing what's REALLY happening in the body. I know imaging is good, but it can miss things.
McKatherine, thank you so much for your sweet post on my "venting" blog the other day, I really appreciated it! I have read through much of your blog and I share many of your feelings on various topics.
Lago as for my being a "big girl", NOPE, my old boobies were just a little ol' B cup. :~) However, I guess the breast surgeon told everyone that I had more "surface area" on my breasts than she expected - whatever that means? All I know is the PS was VERY excited to tell everyone that she "filled me up and I would wake up with boobs!" she's a hoot, I am sure my dad was soooooo uncomfortable. She said it's actually better for the skin to fill the TEs as much as possible sot that the skin doesn't sag/hang/wrinkle/ whatever. I am glad she did it though b/c looking at my new chest is not at all scary. It looks weird, but I can see that it will eventually be great. I'm not even weirded out by my husband seeing it, i just really think it looks that good. Just really hoping that my nipples survive, since we did total skin sparing!
I already decided to stop taking the narcotics b/c I was overly worried about getting constipated and I feel like ibuprofen is working just fine for now. I will take them if I need them, but I'm not going to worry about it until I have to.
Now, onto getting the path report {everything crossed for no surprises!}, rads, herceptin and tamoxifen. Is it weird that I REALLY REALLY want to start the tamoxifen now? I just know how important it is!
Hope everyone is well, now I am going to go read and get caught up on everyone else.0 -
Oh, and as for bras. I think if you WANTED to wear some pretty/ fancy bras Nordstrom department store {not sure if they have those everywhere} will modify the bras for you ie:take out the underwire for no cost. :~)0 -
TwinMamaHeather MOM (milk of magnesia) always worked for me for constipation… except on chemo. Then I used Metamucil (more of a stool softener). To this day I made the switch to the Metamucil. Also a 34B is the same cup size as a 36A or a 38AA. So depending on your band size you might of been bigger than me. I'm pretty small framed.0 -
I was a 36B to be exact. I am what I would consider "medium" framed, but have always been kind of broad through the shoulders {built like a swimmer sort of}. I have tiny wrists and ankles, but that dang rib cage is definitely broad. :~) I am 5'8" and weigh around 140lbs. I guess I was just surprised b/c most of the girls that I know came out of surgery with ~100cc filled. I'm not complaining though!
And here is your TMI/FYI, I have gained control of the constipation. :~)0 -
on the topic of bras- my plastic surgeon recommended the genie bras (you can get them at BedBathandBeyond - and use one of their nifty 20% off coupons). I have one that's very similar that my Mom bought me at a department store. It's made by barely there. As kong as it doesn't get twisted as you pull it over your head and end up scraping across your port, it's a really comfortable bra.
.
Speaking of which, I might start wearing it again soon. Skin is amazingly better (2 weeks post rads).
1 down, 3,649 to go. Took my first tamoxifen tonight.

I have a question about mouth ulcers. Of course, I had plenty while on chemo, but that ended in march and my mouth hugely improved after that. However, in the last month or so my mouth is again very 'tender' and I have ulcers on my tongue and my gums. I'm on herceptin, tamoxifen and xgeva.
Had anyone else had this, that their mouth improved only to get worse again?

Nicky did u use anything for them when u were on chemo? If u did use it again, sometimes things come back to haunt you with meds too. If not ask u'r Doc what u should use. and I'm sure there are plenty of answers coming as people wake up, I mean it's not like u live in another country. HAHAHAHAhahaha I'm so silly--it's 2 am here.0
