    Lovinmymom,

Thank you for posting an update on your Mom. I just got back after being away for a couple of weeks and was doing some catching up on posts when I came across yours.

Sorry to hear that the Gemzar may be causing the problems your mom is experiencing. It was doing such a great job in knocking back those tumor markers. Hoping this is just a bump in the road.

    Michelle,

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers! Dealing with the on-call docs never gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Hoping that your appt tomorrow sheds some light on what's going on and where to go from here. Will be thinking of you! Strength and healing thoughts from NY.....

Hello all - have not posted in a couple of weeks as I have been without internet in Germany and Austria.  Had a great trip - here is my only "food porn" shot.  Yes, I was drinking beer and eating apple strudel at the same time, I admit it!  Returned home to a broken air-conditioner, it has been 85 degrees in my bedroom for the last 48 hours.  Finally got it fixed this afternoon, right after the visit to the dentist!  Fun!

Praying for Michelle to bounce back, thinking of you all and hoping everyone is hanging in there!

    (((EVERYONE)))

Had a date with my cuz David whom I have not seen since my Dad passed away, that was over a year ago.  He I was sad that he opened my email too late when I told him that my DH passed away.

We met up at Fishbones in Chelmsford, had a nice long talk and had a delish meal.  I had Baked Haddock with Sweet Potato wedges and Asparagus and washed it down with a Blue Moon.

Not much cooking here, mostly chicken in olive oil and a veggie of some sort.  The raspberries in my garden are bountiful, smoothies and in my cereal.

    Take care everyone.

Thinking of Michelle today. She should be meeting with her oncologist, and I really hope that the two of them together can figure out a plan.

Thinking about Michelle and hoping with all my being that she bounces back and can enjoy the new motorhome.  Life really sucks sometime and it's hard not to be really angry that good people suffer.

Checked out both farmers' markets in Park Rapids this morning and bought a loaf of home-made multigrain bread, assorted cookies and mini rhubarb pie from the same lady.  Also bought a dozen fresh eggs, small bag of new potatoes, fresh yellow snap beans, and two beautiful cucumbers.

We're sharing a MN "heat wave" here in north MN but relief is on the way for the weekend.

Dinner tonight will be chicken legs out of the freezer.  DH is hopeful that we'll eventually make space in the freezer for ice cream.

Welcome back, Special K!  Your trip sounds wonderful.  Returning to a broken a/c is not wonderful.

I made a crock pot apple concoction recently that was easy and good with pork chops.  Peeled, cored, and sliced three apples.  Put them in the crock pot with some golden and dark raisins, a little water, and some splenda brown sugar and let them cook a few hours on low until they were tender.  My rv crock pot is small.

Carol- Your farmers market finds sound wonderful.  Enjoy your dinner tonight- also love the apple pork in the crock pot idea.  I need to come up with more summer crock pot recipes.

Tonight I am going to make roasted stuffed eggplant.  I have a craving and went grocery shopping today.  It is SO HOT out all this week.  I have stayed in most of the day today, I was going to mow the lawn but it is too hot to be outside unless you are in the pool.  Kids spent the day at my in laws and I got some work done and some cleaning.  I am debating going for a dip in the pool before they get home or sitting in the a/c.

    Hi ladies,

My mom (Michelle/LuvRVing) is happy to be home.  She's eating much better then she was during her hospital stay.  They've decided to up her Decadron to 12mg which, if you know my mother, is not making her happy.  She is walking a little better and has a little more energy at times, but her blood pressure has remained oddly elevated and she seems to spike a small fever at least once throughout the day or night.  She also has moments of confusion.

She is in really good hands.  My step-father is taking excellent care of her, and her sister has been visiting and helping out as well.  Unfortunately I'm home with the kids, as my husband is in California this week and I have a cold.  Please keep her in your thoughts and send her strength.  It's been a tough week and we could all use a turn for the better.

Sending you strength Michelle and my absolutely best wishes! Please get better soon!

Went to an international market today in the city. What fun! I needed to replace some of my Asian staples and ended up doing that and more. I found baby bok choy, Chinese broccoli, fresh Thai bird chilis, German sausages, sliced and cooked gyro meat, fresh feta, red and green lentils and more stuff I can't remember. Oh what fun I'm gonna have!

Michelle, I am so glad that you have someone like Rick caring for you during this time.Sending you caring thoughts and hopes for your energy to rebound, and blood pressure issue to remit. I am heading to the lake late tomorrow or Friday AM, and am happy to drop off a summer meal on the way (maybe not home cooked since my kitchen is about 85 degrees right now, but have some good local take away options. ;) Please let me know....or even a grocery shopping trip is something I can do for you guys.

Today I beat the heat by spending time at the orthopod's office having my shoulder eval'd, then did a bit of retail therapy at TJMAXX which I seem to be unable to avoid turning into after my doc appts. I never used to be a shopper. Then I bit the bullet and went to the opticians and bought new glasses which I have been avoiding for about two years. I do hate all the fru fru in gold that most glasses come with on their corners now, but found two pair (the best deal) that I could live with for another bunch of years.

Tonight I marinated some very delicious tender turkey breast cutlets that DH grilled (I am so appreciative that he is willing to stand in our hot (!) west facing backyard to grill on these hot evenings). I bought the meat at our local grocery store which was grown at a local farm....grass fed and nurtured nicely by the way it cut and tasted! Today I stopped by a local farm on the way home from my other shopping adventures and got green leaf lettuce, summer squash, and corn (obviously not home grown yet here!) and they all contributed to a very lovely dinner. I will be getting that turkey breast again soon! Yum!!

Another update!!! Thank you so much lovingMyMom.

Tonight, I let someone else cook for me. Wednesday Jumbo Fish night at the Courthouse. Fresh fish, right off the boat. TOnight they put FIVE pieces of fish on my plate. I ate one while Mr. 02143 managed four. What a deal for $7.00.

Kid brought home an unclaimed CSA box from her job. Six ears of corn, fresh mozzarella, tons of greens that I don't recognize, two tomatoes, and a head of lettuce. Oh and a tiny bulb of fennel. I was planning to go to the farm tomorrow, but looks like I can delay that for at least another day.

    Michelle,

So glad you are home and back under the loving care of Rick and your family! The hospitals do the best they can but there really is no place like home! Rest well and do what is necessary to regain strength to get past this set back! Thinking of you and sending healing thoughts your way!
