Surgery it is, no MRI we all agreed it is best to get it out of there...nervous and scared and what to do with the LE stuff but we will see... BTW, never told you all... I'm allergic to antibiotics....0
-
Hang in there Gma!0
-
I am at the point, I think I might tell my BS he has my permission to take all the tissue he sees fit or feels is "worrysome" as he puts it...

Granny, How are you doing????
0 -
Gma - If you are going in for surgery I would agree, just get it over with. What is the downside of that decision?0
-
Omaz: I have truncal/breast Lymphedema and it my cause a flare and/or cellulitis if I'm not careful. I am allergic to antibiotics so need to discuss that too.
I don't have insurance to cover it - but didn't have the money to do MRI either... so financial aide paperwork here i come... yet again.
Other than that - I gain peace of mind and if it is cancer, I can deal with it soon. The only other options were MRI or wait and even though the MRI could tell us stuff, The surgeon said he would feel more comfortable taking it out.. I trust my surgeon.. he was correct with the first time.

Gma - I have mild LE that started when I was doing rads. I feel for you, LE is so unpredictable, frustrating and scary. I am glad that you have a surgeon that you trust.0

I'm reminded of the time I found my first lump. I think the ink was still wet on my PCP's Licence to Practice. It was an unusual lump and he called in a much more experienced Dr for consultation. He recommended watchful waiting. I asked them to close their eyes and imagine it was their wife, sister or other most loved woman in their lives and what they would recommend to her. The other Dr told my PCP, "Make a referral for a biopsy."
By the way, it was a very rare type of B-9 mass.

My 1-yr end of treatment date is tomorrow - I'm sitting here with a stack of bills - paying a little on each one - AND I HAVE GOOD INSURANCE I PAY A LOT FOR.... I don't know if we're lower-middle-class or what but we're in the spot where we can't get any financial help. SUCKS

Mostly mom - I know that one.. My insurance maxes at $1000 payout - we are struggling because we put alot of it on credit cards - now it is 10 pages of paperwork to fill out for the financial aide only to be told you were denied and you are to pay $??? amount until it is paid off... That is what happened with my LE therapy treatment - I am preparing the paperwork again for this surgery - being it is a much greater amount, I am hoping they will cover it... but either way, I'm not leaving a questionable nodule in my breast!

Money.....yep I owe everyone and I have excellent insurance.....but copays add up, out of network anesthesiologists, pathologists etc.
If you don't have insurance or know someone who hasn't had insurance for the last six months, and has a pre-existing condition or needs surgery soon there is a federal program that not many people know about...PCIP. The rates are very comparable to employer covered insurance. Just helped my friend get it.

Hi Ladies - Got to go in for a Longggggggg diagnostic mammo tomorrow - before surgery on weds. I opened my mouth and sent a msg to the surgeon that I was giving him permission to take ANYTHING that looked suspiscious, not just the lump... When he saw the note he decided that my last mammo was in January so lets get a newer one to make sure he finds everything.... I'm not crazy wanting him to get everything the first time??? But that is so going to hurt on a LE breast...

Thinking of you ((((Gma))))0

Gma thinking of you. Last year when they found a lump in my other breast they said it had to come out no matter what. Was a nervous wreck until they told me it was B9 but put me at high risk for BC in that breast.
The medical bills. I hear that one. I also have good insurance but I have maxed my out of pocket for the last three years plus DH has had some medical issues. I have estimated that I have been out of pocket about 25K in the last three years and we make too much money to get any help from anyone.

I am so confused right now... I feel the lump, it shows on the ultrasound, but when I had the diagnostic mammo today - nothing showed up... waiting for the surgeon to call... I just want the stupid lump out, I don't want to wait and watch or have an MRI on top of everything else.... Am I crazy in thinking this way???0
-
No Gma, I think I would feel the same way.0
-
It is the exact same senario as when they found my cancer...
