Isabella, the other option is to call the fire department when they burn stuff and announce a thick, toxic smoke!!! Surely someone must be in danger on that farm, and as a good neighbour, well, you just HAD to call!

Barbe look for colour 133 - a blue colour which makes things whiter!!! It can cause all sorts of problems especially hyperactivity and skin rashes. DGD came up in a bad rash after she put some cheap 'play' makeup on so its not surprising she reacts to it in food.
Must get moving as I have a huge list to get through.

We, the other neighbours and myself, have all been acting individually for over a year now....as far as I can make out from them. Seems me being the nearest has been the one complaining longest, I would think 3-4 years. We have only recently started to compare notes, and I realised I wasn't the only one who is affected by this mans behavior.
I had the Environmental Health people out 3 times this year, screeching @ them to come and look NOW , while the filthy fires are burning. But , no rush...by the time they got here there wasn't much left to see. Three letters have been sent to my neighbour to tell him to refrain from lighting fires...but, he is his own law, and a few letters don't scare him ! Repeatedly complained about local cess pits being emptied on the land, but he does it on a Friday night and Saturday morning when no-one answers the phones in ANY departments nowadays! Looks like it will have to be the press. I have shunned this because I do not want reporters and cameras prancing around. I am sort of getting the conversation around to one of the other complainants ringing up the press! I do not like publicity, and being alone, and a little bit isolated down here, am a bit scared of reprisals....if not me my animals could be a target.
Ginger. The total acreage this man has is about 200.
barbe. barbed wire...good idea...BUT my kids come and go, plus postman and those who work for me. I would be mortified if I ripped up their tyres! From time to time DH has made me some spiked lengths of wood, but the trucks are so heavy they just squash the spikes flat. It would also involve me tramping about a quarter mile to lay them, then making sure they were up, and out of the way early morning before any of my traffic started. I can't walk 20 yards nowadays, I'd end up crawling back home on my hands and knees !!!
I had the first of my Christmas letters today, both bringing bad news. An old college friend had died 6 weeks ago. He was my DDs godfather.... kidney cancer. The second letter was from a lady who has bought 4 puppies from me, one after the other over 40 years....we always do a catch up letter at Christmas. She had BC 18 years ago...followed by a lumpectomy, and was pronounced 'cured'. 18 years ago you could have told me eating 2 bananas would cure BC, and I'd have known no different....but after my dx I asked more questions of her, but seems she knew NOTHING and didn't want to ! She had a BMX in October, and 'takes a little pill once a day' !! and all is once again well in her world. I am keeping my trap firmly shut.
Would anyone here have wished to have stayed soooo innocent ??? Not me, as my father said of me 'you always want to know the far end of the fart, and where the stink comes from'!!!!!! That about sums me up! Always had a great thirst for knowledge. I HAVE to try and find the reason why!
Am just going to start and tackle my Christmas card list. I have been putting it off now for a week. The house is quiet, nice white wine on my dining room table, so must make a start .

Isabella, My sister is the same way. She had BC in 1992 has no idea what kind. Took tamoxafiin for five years and is a happy camper. I don't even try to do any education. Hope it never returns for her.

Isabella, I must have misread. I too feel vulnerable in a house where you can't see us from the road or anywhere else. When I realized the cleaners were stealing I just had them remove us from their schedule. I was afraid of reprisals too. I don't blame you from staying out of the fray. This man gets away with an amazing array of crimes. He just must be somehow connected.

ISabella, call the police!! Say that the government departments agree with you (easier to ask forgiveness than permission) and that they show up long after the fire is out or the toxic waste dumped!!! Tell the cops about the theivery and odd trucks in the night. Let them scout it out on your property. Better yet, tell the cops you're afriad of reprisal so they'll let the neighbour know they are watching him.."If any hair on any animal on Isabella's land is hurt, we WILL be back to prosecute you!!!!"
Of all the ladies I have asked if they know what type of BC they have they look at me as if I'M the idiot and say "breast cancer! the aggressive kind." And that is all they needed to know. I cannot imagine going through life that ignorant of something that is happening directly TO me. I don't try to be a mechanic when I drive my car, because I am using the car. It isn't doing something to me. A pill, on the other hand, does so something to me, so I research my meds. Get it?

That's my point. I want to know what I am putting in my body and what is going on with it. My sister reminds me of a lamb going blithly off to slaughter. She has no idea and has so many other health problems. I do believe that she may have early Alzheimer's because the memory and problem solving is just not there.

I'm the same way, I have to know.
My dh is usually that way, too. He's a scientist by training - BSc from Univ of Toronto, MSc from Oxford and worked in med research when we were first married. After my dx I was reading everything I could and learning whatever I could but he didn't seem to want to and kept saying, "You'll tell me what I need to know". At first I was upset and kept thinking he wasn't researching because he didn't care, but eventually I realized he cares a LOT and won't research because the knowledge might be too scary. So now it's me telling him what I want him to know, which is almost everything. I don't share with him that "chronic" is a pretty thing to call Stage IV but it's not like other conditions that are "chronic" because quite frankly I don't want him treating me like I'm sick and have no hope. Right now he treats me like he always has, just adding in making adjustments for my limitations because of my health, and that's what I want. If (or actually when) things change in the future, that will be the time for more discussion.

I have always needed to know as much as possible about my conditions..I just wish I had more medical knowledge sometimes...but then I realize I know alot when my primary care doc tells me I know more than he does about breast cancer...

I am the same way and so are my daughters. I have to know everything about what I have, what to expect the meds to do or not do, any thing I can do to make things easier to tolerate or deal with treatments, etc. The doctors all warn any new doctor I am scheduled to see that I will have a list of at least 20 questions that I will want answered before I will let them do anything! No joke my PCP told my Onco to be prepared to play 20 questions with me when he made the appointment for me. When I got to the appointment the Onco asked what were my questions that the PCP said I would have! I think that is one of the reasons I love my onco and the hour drive is well worth it to me in order to have him taking care of me. My daughters talked with their doctors and they wanted me to sent copies of my pathology reports to their doctors so that information would be in their records so they could be prepared in the future if needed. (DDs are 38 & 40.)

Hi girl!!! Sorry I haven't been around for a few days but I've been busy, busy, busy culminating with a visit to my doc to get a lump checked as well as my DEXA and mamo. Results are as follows.....lol.... Mamo....clear. Lump?.......lipoma, annoying but benign. DEXA..... Femur, pelvis and forearm all in the teenage range absolutely no danger of breakage. Spine?.......osteopenic with L4 vertebrae totally osteoporotic!.......WTF???? Just one vertebrae? Weird!!
I'm also a person who wants to know everything that's going on.....I really hate being kept in the dark.

I think one of the reasons so many of us are hooked to bco is for the continuing information! I've tried to get a couple of ladies onto the boards, but they just aren't interested. Huh.

Have had the same thing Barbe and I have meet several who cannot tell you the type of BC they have. Couldn't deal with that myself I have to know details.

Since my diagnosis I have been on these sites several times a day to gain as much knowledge as I can about my health & treatment options!
I have always felt it is best to be pro-active vs reactive when it comes to anything in life..Especially where your health is concerned.

When I was trying to make my BC decicions in 2000, I don't know if this site was up and running ( I wish I had had this resource) ! I felt like I needed to get a Phd inBC in two weeks! I have relished the friends I have met from BCO both in person and in here. I found much sharing of various side effects of treatments and decision making. Thank you lovely ladies and BCO. Org!

I didn't find this site for TWO years post dx. I often wonder if I had found this site straight away would I have shouted up for anything different ?? Like chemo... for my 'extensive vascular invasion' that no-one thought to mention to me was important. Took me 9 months to winkle my path report from my oncologist. ...she said no-one else has ever asked for this before, and tried quite a few delaying tactics. When she eventually released it she sent a breast nurse out to my house with it, to explain it !!
We have had a white freezing fog hanging about all day, everything looks absolutely beautiful, the trees and hedges are all frosty, and the grass is crackling underfoot, everything is very still and quiet. Overnight we are to expect 1" of sideways rain, and 60-70 miles an hour winds all day tomorrow ! Emigration is on my mind !!!!

Isabella you could always come to Aus. I'm sure we'd find room for you but right now we are at the opposite end of the thermometer!!!! It seems to want to hover in the high high nineties and the low 100's!!!!! My power bill is going to be enormous!!!!! I've had the aircon going for days already!!
I just had an inspiring thought! How about we swap placed for a while coz I like the cold and you are looking for warmth........it sure would be cheaper than emigration .....lol
Off to have my regular manicure!! Don't have enough hair to have my hair done so I do my nails instead!!

I was fortunate to find bco during the testing of my lumpectomy. When the time came to make decisions I was quick and decisive. What a god-send!!!! I have learned WAY more from reading the threads than I ever have on NIH or MAYO or any other medical site. This is real life ladies and we are living it!! Woo hoo!!

Chabba, I'm not sure where it is from. I took it from an e-mail that showed beautiful birds from all over. It is incredible that there is such variety in the avian world. So many incredible birds with such remarkable plumage.

I don't remember if I've ever seen you on the topic called "Life's a Beach" where mumito posts pictures she and her DH take on their travels. He takes the most wonderful bird pictures. He can get a picture of a humming bird in flight where you can see every feather and even the seperate parts of the wing feathers. I could spend hours just enjoying his collections of bird photos. Make that days! And the same looking at her seanic and underwater photos too.
