Mac, today was an initial consultation, new Doc. Procedure will be April 25. Doc talks a mile a minute and is just a little guy, comes about up to my nose, not much over 5' tall. I was impressed, he had my complete file from PCP and Onc, and had read it all. Started off with questions about the pancreatitus that tried to kill me back in 1999.

I'm back! Phew! What a day! Well, where to start........the drive down was uneventful and I arrived at the clinic a little early........that's something I like to do particularly if it's the first time just in case they need other paper work filled in. No probs there so sat and waited. The Audiologist was a lovely lady and after doing a whole heap of tests (again) she agreed with the ENT that I have definite hearing loss and suggested a hearing aide would help.......yah think? Anyway, after discussing her findings and the different types of aides available to me we decided on one of the tiny ones that fit inside the ear so she then took an impression of my ear. The next step is wait to hear from them to go back for the fitting which should be in about two weeks.
My next trip down will be Sunday evening ready for an early morning appointment with a PT about my neck pain.........I was told that appointment will be at least two hours! OMG! What is he going to do?!.......got no idea but hopefully it will help.
Yay Nancy for the clear skin check except for that little one that needed burning........it's always good to get the 'nothing there' speech.
Carole I look around my house and just about every room needs to be painted! A few years ago I would have just done it but unfortunately age and cancer have sort of put spanner in my wheels that leaves them just spinning.......lol.......sigh!.......I guess I can imagine what they would look like if they were done. I agree with Chabba about doing some paint squares on a piece of board as it does give you a better idea of what your colours will look like on the wall.
Wow Chabba! That doc is unusual! Most don't bother to read a full file anymore, it's just the first page that lists major illness and allergies. Sounds like he is a real keeper! Sure hope he does some good for you.
Barbe when are you seeing your doc?
Well, I need a cup of tea and a bit of relax time. Have a good night all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I once had a house that had so much Lily of the Valley, that it, too, grew up in the middle of our driveway! We used to throw it away by the garbage-can-full, so I get it Chrissy about the Hollyhocks.
I'll probably see my doc next week for the results, I'll let y'all know..
I don't have any kneecaps left, either, Chrissy. When I kneel down (with a gun to my head!) I'm basically kneeling on the joint itself...sigh.

Barbe I love Lily of the Valley! Unfortunately its way too hot for it to grow here even in the middle of winter. I usually love it when a nice plant takes over my garden as then I don't have so much thinking to do on what to plant where........lol. In the house I used to live in, it was a much cooler climate and the bulbs just kept multiplying so every spring I had a riot of plants and colour......it was lovely!!
What's kneeling?.........lol..........it's so long since I've done it that I've almost forgotten. I've tried kneeling on the replaced knee but that's really not a good idea either........metal and skin doesn't feel too good.........lol.
Please do let us know Barbe and until then I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chabba, Getting a really funny visual of you and the doc. The Dr who delivered my second child was quite short and only hired nurses shorter than he was. He was an ex-Marine. Guess he'd seen enough of the bad stuff to concentrate only on the good from that point on. Really amazing to find doc who reads records.

Bought small cans of the two paints I've chosen. I'll paint several patches on the walls of the two rooms and look at the patches at different times of day. Am not looking forward to all the work but moving the furniture out of the way means cleaning under and behind it, areas that never receive any cleaning once they're moved back into place. I'm one of those "clean what you can see" people! And don't clean the visible too often!
Interestingly, the hollyhocks in my picture are volunteers that come up year after year in front of a building that was once a gas station but is now just a storage bldg.

Carole good idea on your paint patches. I hear you on the cleaning aide of things.......lol.......never used to be that way, always pulled furniture around to clean under and behind it but now just cleaning what you can see is a real chore and has me seriously thinking of getting someone in to do it for me. Yes, that's what is so good about hollyhocks, they self seed and come up year after year.
Well I just got the call from the scheduling nurse and I am now booked in for knee replacement on the 6th June unless there is a cancellation before hand.....yippeeeee!!!
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, today I have woken to grey sky and much cooler temps........Autumn is here!
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

chabba, glad you liked your new doc. Sounds like he likes to be up to date on the info. I'm going to say this; sometimes really good things come in small packages! My mom always said that to me whenever I complained about my size.
carole, I just painted swatches right on the walls .like it sounds like you will , so we got to live with the paint for a while and got to see it in all light. ha ha, then I could ask other people's opinions when they came over. I hear ya on the cleaning. I just had some repainting done and am very happy with the results. Now I need to get the outside of the house steam cleaned. What do they call it oh yeah, power washed.
I went to my hand (OT) person today. She is happy with my hands, too, but wants me to proceed slowly. I am treating them gently and will not try to strengthen them for a few weeks. I still am sleeping with the gloves and sprints. But the pain is so much less. yahoooo!

I hope none of you get this evil norovirus. After 2 days, DH appears to have recovered a bit and I'm on the 2nd day so hope for a better day tomorrow. We haven't had bad stomach issues, just a totally washed out feeling where just moving is impossible. Yesterday I slept about 14 hours and then slept all night too. Still don't feel rested. Tomorrow I plan to wash sheets in clorox and Lysol the whole house!

Here's more waiting watching, and praying for you, chbba. waiting is always tortue!
My DH has to have a fine needle biopsy in his thyroid. The goiter has grown to tat size.. but, first, we have to find an endo for the 2 of s. Our gp has been ordering the insulin for our diabetes, but its' time for a specialist.
After being put on a chem for my ms; I have lost two more teeth.
I went to have removals, and a partial made, and the cardio turned surgery down flat!! So, no boobs, no hair, and now no teeth.. thank you BC.. I'm really bummed.
The chemo had a base of mannitol; and the neurologit didn't even know!!Do I need to tell you how high my sugars' have been. I swear, these drs. are idiots!
So, that was an epic fail. and its' the only one I could take, because all others have estrogen.. So, although I worry about how the MS is progressing, nothing to do about it, except pray.. after 25 yrs diagnosised, I can't com plain, though..
Hope everyone is enjoying the first day of Spring in the states. It doesn't "look" like spring over most of the states YET>>
Hang in there, ladies.. 3jays

So good to hear from you 3Jays!

3jays!! What a wonderful surprise!! I love it when you pop in like that, it makes my day. Oh girl, you have been through the wars and then to hear that you heart doc says no to your recon!.......boo to him!
Do give Mur a big hug from me and tell him to give you one back also from me.........lol. Wish him well with his biopsy and I hope the new diabetes specialist can help get things a bit more sorted. You amaze me the way you just keep plodding along and I know you are weighed down very often.
Kathy is this bug the gift from your grands? It sounds awful! Please don't go pushing yourself to get all that done as you will only make your recovery longer........you are s drained because your body is fighting and you need to not deplete it of more energy by doing too much too soon.
Nancy I'm pleased that your hand are feeling a little better as it bodes well for the future.........please, again, don't go pushing the strengthening too soon and undo the good that has been done so far. How's the rebuild going?
Love n hugs. Chrissy

3jays, how good it is to see you here! I hate to hear that things haven't been going any better. Yes, it sounds like you and Murray must find a specialist for the diabetes. I hope his biopsy goes well. And I hope someone can find something you can do for the MS. It's always so good to see you, and you're in my prayers always.
Yes, Chrissy, this virus was actually a gift from DS, who apparently got it first, then his wife and older son, then DH, me, SIL, and finally the younger DGS. So far, the only ones who've not had it are DD and DGD. Since they don't have it yet and all the rest of us got sick during this week, maybe they're home free. I felt well enough today to get our taxes done. Then I didn't feel as well, but it wasn't due to a virus!
We've had a lovely day here and tomorrow's supposed to be even better. Then, once again the possibility of something frozen next week. Oh well, at least the pollen hasn't hit yet and that's something to be thankful for.
Nancy, so glad your hands are improving!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

3jays, you're dealing with a lot of health issues. Sure hope things improve for you and your dh.
Well, back to the paint store. The living room patches are not a color I want to live with.
Today was a gorgeous day even with the pine pollen. I played golf and enjoyed being outdoors.
Chrissy, I can imagine what a relief it is for the weather to turn cooler. Do you get pretty autumn color where you live?
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
0 -
Lol Kathy, I'm sure having to do your taxes made you fell not so good but at least it seems like the virus is working its way out of your system.
Carole I wish we had the colour that you do but alas not. We do get a little from the trees that people have planted because of their colour but most of the trees here are natives and are evergreen. The thing we get colour from most is the grape vines as I live near a lot of vineyards.
I got the call from the nurse scheduler and I am now on the list for 6/6 unless there is a cancellation then it could be sooner. The hearing aide will be in my ear in about two weeks so that will also be a great improvement........lots of thing happening here, all good.......lol.
Have a great weekend girls!

Hi 3 Jays really good to hear from you. I hope you are getting all the best of care.
Chrissy as I understand it getting cold nights for deciduous trees brings the color. We are surrounded by conifers here and I miss all the pretty color from back in Illinois. There are areas with lots of color just not in my yard!
I will be thinking about you on June 6th. It sounds like you will have cooler days to recuperate.
I am afraid of the Norovirus, since DGD is in preschool I am afraid. I understand that the hand sanitizer doesnt work on this virus, but soap does. Go away Norovirus. I guess we should use both.
looking for healthier days ahead.
I am typing with this back brace on and a latch on it pokes my left arm and my right iunderarm as I am writing so I am less eager to go back to fix all my typos.
Hugs Ginger

Ginger, how IS the brace working for you now? It's been a couple of weeks....any improvement?
0 -
Yes, I think it is helping a little bit. I can walk across the house without it hurting. If I keep walking, for instance trying to stand in the Kitchen the pain returns. The orth doc said it would get better a little at a time. I know the headway I made in physical therapy seems to be gone but I will go back to that so I can get stronger, or as strong as I need to be which is lots stronger than I am right now! Thanks for asking. It has been 5 weeks now I think. I am to return to the ortho in two months from start and wear the brace for three months total, at least that was the plan.
Hugs Ginger

Ginger: i'm so sorry to hear the news of now a brace!!! Thank you ALL for the warm welcome back.. Things here just keep us "hopping" but not a day goes by, i don't think and pray for you all. You've "seen " me through so much!
I can't say enough how much I miss you all..
Hoping for good health and thoughts for all..

Happy Birthday 3jays!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!!!
Well girls I had the PT treatment yesterday and I am sore, sore, sore today......lol. I even had a phone call from the PT who worked on me to check and see how I was doing.......he did tell me I would be sore and he wanted to know how bad and if I had some better movement in spite of the soreness. I must admit that I do already so I'm happy to stick with the treatments once a fortnight even though I will hurt each time. The length of treatment is I just keep going back until he no longer hurts when he treats, at that time everything will be as it should be and I will be one very happy camper.......lol.
I have given up the thought of buying a new mattress for now as the prices are out of this world and I just can't justify the cost right now. While I was in the city yesterday I bought a memory foam overlay hoping that would help. I must say, that while it is not perfect it certainly is way more comfortable..........two of them together I think would make it just right but I'll have to save up as the jolly thing was $200 but still way cheaper than buying a mattress!
Have a great day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

It's 3jays birthday? Happy Happy Day!!!!!!
chrissy, glad you are getting PT treatments even tho they make you sore now, hopefully there will be marked improvement. Is this for your knee?
ginger, I think I would have some sort of demolition ceremony for my back brace when I was done. Hang in there.
I am still getting OT for my hands, but it is gentle. not even trying to strengthen yet. I did make a fist in the shower this morning. Yahoo! The warmth helps so much. slowly, slowly slowly it is improving.
the roof deck roof has been put on in front of the bedroom.
0 -
Nancy no it's not for my knee but for my neck and shoulders and once that is sorted he will work on the rest of me........lol.
Wow! Making a fist! That's awesome! I can't believe how well the rebuild is going! I am already picturing the windows and doors in and the paint job done and a fabulous little garden showing it all to it's very best.......sorry...lol....my imagination runs wild sometimes....hahahahaha!
